mymind is a private, AI-powered place to save notes, bookmarks, images, articles and PDFs. It tags, classifies and lays out everything automatically, so nothing needs filing. Strictly single-user: no sharing, no ads, no social features.
What is mymind?
mymind is a personal memory tool from mymind, Inc., a small independent studio that says it runs with zero outside funding. Its premise is unusual: instead of giving you better folders, it removes filing altogether. You save something, and the software works out what it is, tags it and makes it findable.
Capture happens wherever you already are. A browser extension for Chrome, Brave, Edge and Safari saves a page in one click, and right-clicking an image or a highlighted passage stores just that fragment. On iOS and Android the system share button does the same job. Every link is typed automatically, so an article, a product, a book and a recipe each arrive as a differently shaped card.
The AI layer does the work you would otherwise do by hand. Images are tagged on arrival, and text inside them — memes, screenshots, even handwriting — is read and indexed, so you can search for words you never typed. Search itself is deliberately associative: colour, brand, object, style, date or theme all work, which helps on the common day when you remember what something looked like but not what it was called. Smart Spaces cluster saves around a search or a tag without being asked. On the Mastermind tier, AI Summaries condense saved pages, the PDF Analyzer tags and summarises documents, Reading Mode strips articles of advertising, Article Backup keeps them after the original source vanishes, and Same Vibe builds a moodboard from a single image.
Two features fight forgetting rather than disorder: Serendipity resurfaces old saves slowly, to keep or discard, and Top of Mind pins current priorities. Notes offer quick capture, a Focus Mode for longer drafts and bidirectional links.
The privacy stance is the other half of the product. There is no collaboration, no sharing and no social layer, all by design. The company publishes its subprocessors by name, states that customer data is never used for model training, and says support staff cannot see account contents. An API arrived in July 2026 and remains in beta.

GDPR overview
The privacy policy, in force since 31 October 2024, states that mymind applies the same data rights to every customer regardless of location, and recognises both the GDPR and the CCPA. It lists the rights of information, access, rectification, erasure, complaint, restriction, objection, portability, non-discrimination and freedom from purely automated decisions, and points EU residents to the EDPB list of supervisory authorities. Requests go to help@mymind.com, while EU, UK and Swiss privacy complaints go to integrity@mymind.com. Subprocessors are published by name with a GDPR commitment for each. Two reservations matter: the transfer mechanism invoked is still the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield, invalidated in 2020 and since superseded, and no Article 27 EU representative is designated. No Data Processing Agreement is offered.
Who owns the data?
The Terms are explicit: mymind, Inc. claims no intellectual property rights over what you upload, and all material remains yours. The company states it does not sell personal data and never has, and under the CCPA it positions itself as a service provider rather than a business or third party, meaning it processes your data only for the purpose you signed up for. Should mymind ever be acquired, its Our Promise page undertakes to notify members in advance and let them export their content and opt out of any transfer. One caveat sits against that promise: the Terms state that no profile export is currently offered.
Reuse rights
Because you keep ownership of everything you save, you may reuse your own content freely and without asking permission. What you cannot easily do is get it out in bulk: the Terms state that no profile export is offered, and there is no bulk import either. The beta API is the only mechanism for extracting content programmatically, using either a READ ONLY or a FULL ACCESS key. On the vendor's side, use is tightly bounded. Saved content is analysed to deliver the service; private content passes through Amazon Bedrock without logging, retention or sharing, and is never handed to the original model provider; public content may be processed by third-party AI services and proxies without being tied to an account. No data is used for model training, and the company states that neither its team nor its support staff can see inside an account.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Data is hosted on Amazon Web Services, with encrypted backups held at Wasabi. The privacy policy states plainly that mymind's products and web properties are operated in the United States, and that information provided by users outside the country is transferred there. Content is written to multiple disks immediately, backed up daily and stored in several locations. Traffic to and from the service runs over HTTPS, and uploaded files and the database are encrypted at rest. The company adds one candid caveat: inside its own private network, behind a firewall, data may travel unencrypted. Servers sit on a dedicated, monitored network and are patched regularly. Card payments are handled on Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure and never pass through mymind's own servers. Two limits are worth noting: the data security page has not been revised since 9 September 2020, and no formal certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is claimed anywhere on the site.

- Outsourcing memory to a tool encourages hoarding: saving is frictionless by design, and a mind full of unread saves can create the comfortable illusion of knowledge without any of the reading

- Retention schedules differ between the Terms, which describe 30 and 60 days, and the privacy policy, which describes roughly 90 days
- Sign-up IP addresses are kept indefinitely, as the privacy policy states in plain words
- A FULL ACCESS API key grants a third-party agent sight of the entire account, a risk the vendor flags itself while noting that finer permissions do not yet exist
- Access depends entirely on a Google or Apple account and no profile export is offered, so losing the identity provider or leaving the service both hurt

Very low. Sign up with a Google or Apple account, install the browser extension and, if you want it, the iOS, Android or macOS application. Nothing needs configuring afterwards, and the absence of setup is precisely the point of the product. The only step that calls for any thought is optional: generating an API key in beta, where you must choose between READ ONLY and FULL ACCESS. No developer skills are required for normal use.

mymind is a finished, well-demonstrated product from an identifiable and deliberately independent company, and its central idea is rarer than it sounds: rather than giving you better tools for organising, it removes the organising. Automatic tagging, type recognition and a search that accepts a colour, a brand or text read out of an image genuinely cover the common case where you remember what something looked like but not what it was called.
Its privacy commitments are among the most explicit you will read anywhere. Subprocessors are named one by one with their role, the AI policy states that customer data is never used for training, private content passes through Amazon Bedrock without logging or retention, and the company states that even its support staff cannot see inside an account. Those claims are unusually specific, which also makes them unusually checkable.
The trade-off is stated plainly by the pricing page: there is no free tier, and no free trial appears on any mymind page, so the entry point is USD 4.99 a month. The more serious reservation is documentary rather than technical. The Terms of Service have not been revised since November 2020 and now contradict the pricing page on both a free plan and video support; the privacy policy still leans on the Privacy Shield, a transfer framework invalidated in 2020; and the retention schedules in the two documents disagree with each other.
For an individual visual professional or knowledge worker, that gap between an actively developed product and an ageing legal base is a nuisance rather than a blocker. For an organisation, the absence of a Data Processing Agreement, an Article 27 representative, a postal address and any profile export puts mymind out of reach. This is a tool built for one person, and it does not pretend otherwise.
