Overview

What is Moda?

Moda is an AI design agent published by Nullframe, Inc., a New York company. It answers a plain-language brief with a finished visual asset, but its distinguishing move is what happens next: the result lands on a real vector canvas with layers, not as a flat image, so every text block, shape, colour and logo stays editable. The tool covers slides, social posts and carousels, documents, PDFs, diagrams, animations and published websites.

Brand control is the second pillar. A brand kit stores colours, fonts and logos, and the model applies them at generation time — three kits on Pro, unlimited on Ultra. Users choose among design models with different costs and capabilities: Lite at 0.5x for simple work and most edits, Standard at 1x as the recommended default, Pro at 1.5x for the most demanding jobs, plus a Fast model on Ultra. Everything runs on AI credits consumed per action — generating a multi-page design, creating an image, removing a background, asking the AI to rework a layout — and reset at each billing cycle without rollover.

Beyond the editor, Moda ships a documented REST API and an MCP server, both available from the free plan with a cap on concurrent tasks per tier. Endpoints cover canvases, design tasks, brand kits, remixes, uploads, usage and webhooks; exports come out as PNG, JPEG, PDF or PPTX. Optional integrations connect Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides, and the AI features run on third-party providers Anthropic and OpenAI through their commercial APIs. Sites can be published on a moda.page subdomain, or on a custom domain from Pro upwards alongside data-backed apps.

The published customer evidence is unusually concrete. Mintlify reports more than ten hours saved per strategic asset, a thirty-minute average turnaround and eleven sellers working without a product marketing team. Coverbase built 150 slides in a single night and puts its savings on design contractors at roughly USD 40,000. FERMÀT moved asset creation from days to minutes across sales, marketing, ops and HR. Named testimonials come mostly from chiefs of staff, CEOs and growth leaders. The company announced a USD 7.5 million seed round in March 2026.

What it does

  • Generate a full deck, social post, document or PDF from a plain-language instruction
  • Edit every element of the result on a layered vector canvas, text, shapes, images and logos alike
  • Apply a brand kit so colours, fonts and logos are enforced at generation time
  • Export finished work as PNG, JPEG, PDF or PPTX
  • Remix an existing shared template and make it your own
  • Publish a website on a moda.page subdomain or on your own domain
  • Drive design creation programmatically through the REST API or an MCP server

When to use Moda / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Moda is the right fit.

When to use Moda

  • Go-to-market teams with no in-house designer, who need sales collateral, one-pagers and leave-behinds faster than an agency can turn them around
  • Chiefs of staff and executive assistants preparing all-hands decks, quarterly business reviews, offsite agendas and internal documents
  • Startup founders building investor pitch decks, funding announcements and hiring assets while keeping a consistent brand
  • Social and content managers producing LinkedIn carousels, Instagram posts and event announcements on a repeatable template
  • Developers and AI agent builders who want to generate designs programmatically through a REST API or an MCP server

When not to use Moda

  • Anyone who needs a mobile app: Moda ships no iOS or Android client, and everything happens in the browser
  • Teams working in a language other than English, since no interface or processing language is advertised anywhere on the site
  • Organisations that require a vendor certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001, which Moda does not claim for itself
  • Users under 18, who are excluded from the service by the terms of use
  • Professional retouchers looking for pixel-level photo editing: the product is built around brand asset design, not image manipulation
Get started

How to use Moda

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create an account from the site — the free plan needs no payment card
  2. Start either from a plain-language instruction or by remixing one of the public shared templates
  3. Build a brand kit with your colours, fonts and logos so later generations stay on brand
  4. Let the AI produce the first version of the deck, post, document or PDF
  5. Open the result on the canvas and edit any element directly, layer by layer
  6. Invite teammates to work on the same file in real time and pool credits on paid plans
  7. Export as PNG, JPEG, PDF or PPTX, or publish as a website on moda.page or your own domain
  8. Monitor credit consumption in account settings and set a maximum overage budget on paid plans
  9. For programmatic use, generate an API key, pin an API version and call the REST endpoints or connect an agent through MCP
  10. Reach support through the community Slack on Free, email and chat on Pro, priority support on Ultra

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Output stays editable on a real vector canvas instead of arriving as a flat image, which is the central and verifiable differentiator
  • Brand consistency is automated through brand kits rather than left to manual discipline
  • The permanent free plan is genuinely usable: 1,500 credits per seat per month, up to ten members, real-time collaboration, API and MCP included
  • A documented REST API and an MCP server open programmatic and agent-driven design from the free tier upwards
  • PPTX and PDF exports keep the work usable in the tools recipients already have
  • Pricing is legible: four tiers, published amounts, an advertised 17% annual discount and no hard stop on paid plans thanks to metered overage with a configurable cap
  • Customer evidence is named and quantified, with case studies from Mintlify, Coverbase and FERMÀT rather than anonymous logos

Cons

  • No mobile application at all, on either iOS or Android
  • No about page, no contact page and no legal notice: the publisher's identity only appears in the terms of service and the Trust Center
  • A single email address serves the whole site, and it is obfuscated behind Cloudflare tokens on the legal pages
  • The privacy policy is unusually short next to the commitments made in the terms, and the training opt-out it is supposed to describe is not documented there
  • No subprocessor list is published, and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is claimed for Moda itself
  • Credits never roll over, the free plan caps decks at ten slides, and the Pro model is expensive enough that the vendor itself advises monitoring long jobs
  • Binding individual arbitration, a class action waiver, New York governing law and liability capped at the greater of twelve months of fees or USD 100

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Moda handles your data.

GDPR overview

The acronym GDPR appears nowhere on the site, and the privacy policy contains no European section at all. The commitments live in the terms of service instead, under a dedicated clause for users in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. It lists the legal bases relied on (consent, contract, legal obligation, legitimate interests), states that personal data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries with appropriate safeguards where required — naming Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK Information Commissioner's Office — and enumerates access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent, exercised at support@moda.app. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request, and the right to complain to a local supervisory authority is acknowledged. No Article 27 EU representative is designated.

Who owns the data?

Under Moda's terms, users keep ownership of what they bring and what they produce. User Content remains theirs, and they hold all right, title and interest in Generated Content. Moda takes only a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and modify that material in order to operate, support and improve the service, limited to the duration of use except where content has been shared or must be kept for legal, security or backup reasons. Ownership of generated work does not extend to the underlying models, Moda templates or embedded third-party materials. Two clauses run the other way: the user account itself belongs to Moda, and any feedback sent to the company becomes its property.

Reuse rights

Generated Content can be reused without asking Moda for anything, including commercially: the user owns it, and any Moda template embedded in it carries a worldwide, sublicensable, transferable, royalty-free licence for personal and commercial use. Imported User Content stays the user's property throughout. The company reserves the right to preserve or disclose User Content where the law, a third-party claim or the enforcement of its terms requires it. Two practical limits temper the freedom: AI output may not be unique — identical designs can be produced for other users — and Moda gives no warranty that generated work is protectable by intellectual property rights or free of third-party infringement, so the user carries the review obligation and the risk.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No figure is published anywhere. The terms state only that personal data is kept for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected for, or as required by law. Content imported from Google is held inside the workspace and deleted when the user deletes it or their account, and the Google connection can be disconnected or revoked at any time. The licence Moda holds over User Content lasts only as long as the service is used, except for content shared with others or retained for legal, security or backup reasons. The company may preserve and disclose content where the law requires it, gives no guarantee that content stays available or exportable, and advises keeping your own copies. The Trust Center documents a retention and disposal policy and deletion on customer request.

Hosting summary

No page on the site names a hosting region, a data centre or a cloud provider. What the terms do say is that the services and the website are controlled and offered by Moda from its offices and facilities in the United States, and that personal data may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States or other countries, with appropriate safeguards such as European Commission or UK ICO Standard Contractual Clauses where the law requires them. The site is served behind Cloudflare and the resolved IP address is an anycast node, so it says nothing about where the application servers actually sit. The Trust Center, published under the name Nullframe, Inc. and continuously monitored by Secureframe, documents encryption in transit and at rest, segregated environments, backup restoration testing at least annually and a physical security policy. Third-party model providers are identified as Anthropic and OpenAI, reached through their commercial APIs. No subprocessor list is published.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Moda.

  • Metered overage on paid plans bills extra credits automatically once the allowance is gone: set the maximum overage budget before handing the tool to a team
  • Credits never roll over, and the Pro design model costs 1.5x, a combination the vendor itself flags by advising users to stop long-running jobs
  • Every teammate added on a paid plan becomes a billed seat automatically, so team growth translates directly into invoice growth
  • Prices, credit rates and expiry rules can be changed unilaterally at any time, fees are non-refundable and a disputed charge must be raised within thirty days
  • Disputes go to mandatory individual arbitration with a class action waiver under New York law, liability is capped at the greater of twelve months of fees or USD 100, and claims expire after one year; the arbitration clause can be opted out of in writing within thirty days of accepting the terms
  • Generated output may be inaccurate or identical to another user's, and the terms place the whole burden of review, legal checking and infringement risk on the user
  • Leaning on an AI agent for every deck erodes the design and narrative judgement of the team using it, and in an organisational account an administrator can access, modify or remove your work, and revoke your access to it entirely
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Getting started requires no technical skill: create an account, describe what you need in plain language, and edit the result. Nothing is installed and no payment card is needed for the free plan. The only real learning curve is building a brand kit and getting comfortable with a layered canvas. A second, optional path is developer-grade: API key, pinned API version, webhooks, quota and error handling, or connecting an AI agent through MCP. SSO/SAML and the white-label SDK belong to the Enterprise tier and come with guided onboarding.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is an AI credit, and how fast do credits burn?
Credits are the unit that measures use of Moda's AI features. Each action costs a different amount depending on how demanding it is: generating a full multi-page design costs far more than removing a background. Allocations are 1,500 credits per seat per month on Free, 6,000 on Pro and 22,000 on Ultra, and they refresh at the start of each billing cycle.
What happens when I run out of credits?
On the free plan, AI features pause until the next cycle, while the non-AI canvas tools, exports and collaboration keep working. On Pro and Ultra there is no interruption: additional usage is billed automatically at a metered rate, tallied at the end of the period and added to the next invoice. You can set a maximum overage budget and follow consumption in your account settings.
Do unused credits roll over to the next month?
No. Credits do not roll over between billing cycles. Each month the balance resets to the allocation of your plan, whichever tier you are on.
What is the difference between the Lite, Standard and Pro design models?
Lite costs 0.5x and suits simple designs and most edits. Standard costs 1x and is the recommended default for complex layouts and multi-page documents. Pro costs 1.5x, is reserved for the most demanding work and is available on the Pro plan; the vendor advises watching Pro jobs and stopping them if they run long or consume more than expected. Ultra adds a Fast model.
Is there an API, and is it available on the free plan?
Yes. Moda publishes a documented REST API covering canvases, design tasks, organisations, credits, brand kits, remixes, share links, uploads, usage and webhooks, plus an MCP server. Both are available from the free plan, with concurrent tasks capped at 3 on Free, 10 on Pro, 15 on Ultra and a negotiated volume on Enterprise. There is no service level agreement on the API.
In which formats can I export my designs?
Canvases can be exported as PNG, JPEG, PDF or PPTX. Websites can be published on a moda.page subdomain on the free plan, or on your own domain from Pro upwards.
Who owns the designs Moda generates?
You do. The terms give you all right, title and interest in Generated Content, including for commercial use, and Moda templates embedded in it come with a transferable, royalty-free licence. Ownership does not extend to the underlying models or to third-party materials embedded in the output, and Moda gives no guarantee that generated content is unique or free of third-party rights.
Is my content used to train AI models?
Moda may use usage data and, where permitted, User Content in aggregated or de-identified form to develop and improve machine learning models, and the terms announce an opt-out described in the privacy policy. The third-party providers behind the AI features, Anthropic and OpenAI, do not train their models on this data under the commercial API terms Moda operates under.
Is there a mobile app, and is there a minimum age?
There is no iOS or Android application: Moda runs in the browser and through its API. The service is offered only to users aged 18 or over.
Can I get a Data Processing Agreement?
Yes. Where Moda processes personal data on your behalf as a processor, the terms commit the company to entering into a Data Processing Agreement on request. Requests go to support@moda.app, which is also the address for exercising data protection rights.
Conclusion

Should you pick Moda?

Moda picks a narrow, verifiable fight and wins it: where most AI design generators hand back a flat picture, Moda hands back a layered vector canvas where every element can still be changed. Combined with brand kits that enforce colours, fonts and logos at generation time, that makes it a credible answer for the teams it courts most openly — go-to-market functions, chiefs of staff, founders and operations people who need presentable assets without a designer in the loop. The named, quantified case studies from Mintlify, Coverbase and FERMÀT are more convincing than the usual logo wall, and the free plan is unusually generous for a tool of this kind, since it includes real-time collaboration and API access rather than a crippled preview.

The reservations are mostly about maturity and disclosure rather than the product. There is no mobile app, no interface language other than English is advertised, and the company keeps a very low profile on its own site: no about page, no contact page, a single support address obfuscated behind Cloudflare, and a privacy policy so short that the substance of the data commitments has to be read in the terms of service. The training opt-out promised in those terms is not actually described where they point. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is claimed for Moda itself, and no subprocessor list is published, which matters for regulated buyers. Add the usual startup contractual posture — mandatory individual arbitration, class action waiver, liability capped at the greater of twelve months of fees or USD 100 — and the picture is that of a young, well-funded company whose product is ahead of its paperwork. For an internal design workflow the trade is easy; for a compliance-heavy deployment, ask for the DPA and the missing documentation first.
