They are included on every plan, the free one included.
Retrieval is where the automatic organisation is meant to pay off. Universal search works in plain language across notes, files, images and voice transcripts, matching on meaning rather than on filenames. Open any single item and you can chat with it: the answers come from that document in its own context rather than from a general-purpose model, and related saves surface alongside. A mind map renders the whole library as a graph you can follow, and contextual suggestions propose merging or linking items that look like the same thread. Voice notes are transcribed in real time, in multiple languages, with speaker detection.
Two constraints define the product. The first is platform: it runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later and on Apple Silicon only, distributed as a downloadable disk image rather than through the Mac App Store. The second is storage: your captured content lives on your Mac and the publisher states it has no access to it, although an internet connection remains necessary for the AI features to run.

GDPR overview
The privacy policy, effective 1 June 2025, devotes a dedicated section to GDPR compliance. It names four legal bases, namely consent, contract performance, legitimate interest and legal obligation, and lists seven rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. A further section covers CCPA rights for California residents and states that no personal information is sold. Children under 13 are excluded. The implementation stops there, and the gaps matter: no EU representative is designated under Article 27, no data protection officer is named, no postal address for the controller appears anywhere on the site, and no retention period is quantified. A single generic email address is the only channel offered. The terms place the contract under German law, with Munich courts.
Who owns the data?
Mindly's terms state that you retain ownership of everything you create or upload, and that the publisher claims no ownership of your data. You grant only a limited licence, restricted to operating the service. In practice the question is narrowed by architecture: notes, links, files and voice recordings are stored locally on your Mac, and the publisher says it cannot access them.
