Sensesbit
Cloud sensory analysis platform for food and beverage quality and R&D teams. It runs trained panels and consumer studies across 40+ ISO-aligned methods, then turns the statistics into a defensible launch recommendation through its Agentic Sensory AI layer.
What is Sensesbit?
Sensesbit is a software-as-a-service platform for sensory analysis, published by TASTELAB, S.L., a spin-off of the University of Santiago de Compostela incorporated in 2015 and based in Lugo, in north-western Spain. It is aimed at the quality, R&D, innovation and marketing teams of food and beverage manufacturers, which the company says make up around 90 percent of its customer base, alongside cosmetics, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical firms, and academic laboratories. The platform covers the whole sensory workflow inside one browser window: designing the test, randomising the samples, building and sending the questionnaire, collecting answers, running the statistics and issuing the report. Nothing is installed; an internet connection and a browser are enough, on any device and any operating system. Access is organised around three roles. An administrator configures and runs the studies, a consumer enters a survey code that routes them to the right questionnaire, and a judge answers a similar form covering more complex product attributes. Methodologically the tool leans on the sensory standards catalogue, implementing eight ISO methods including the triangle test, the hedonic scale, assessor selection and training, sensory booths and descriptive analysis. It also offers randomisation schemes such as Williams and triangular sequences that the company presents as uncommon in standard platforms. Its distinguishing layer is what Sensesbit calls Agentic Sensory AI, described as the first of its kind. It works in four stages: a sensory intelligence stage that structures panellists, attributes and study design; a Data Booster that bootstraps up to 10,000 simulations to produce confidence intervals, ranking stability and pairwise evidence; a business layer that applies relevance thresholds, claim safeguards and launch-or-stop logic; and a generative stage that writes the executive report. The stated aim is to move from displaying results to recommending a defensible decision. The architecture is API-first and connects to ERP, business intelligence and market data sources. Results are immediate, while AI reports take a few extra minutes.
What it does

- Buyers who require a published, self-service pricing page and standard terms of service before engaging a vendor
How to use Sensesbit
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo from the website, a guided walk-through of 30 to 45 minutes led by a sensory scientist from the team
- Discuss your methodologies and current workflow beforehand, so the demo is matched to your own sensory programme
- Start the 14-day free trial of the Professional tier and run a real study on one of your own products
- Confirm the tier that fits your team size and use case, then receive a written quote from the sales team
- Get the workspace deployed within 24 hours of signing up, with no on-site visit and no IT integration project
- Create the user accounts and configure the panel rosters for your assessors and consumers
- Import your historical Excel data, including panellist responses, rosters and methodology configurations
- Set up your first test, choose the method and let the platform randomise sample presentation
- Send the survey out, with consumers joining through a simple code and panellists able to answer on mobile even if connectivity drops
- Read the results in real time, then download the spreadsheet, the PDF report or the AI executive summary
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Broad, standards-anchored method coverage, with more than 40 methodologies and eight ISO sensory standards implemented
- Complete chain from questionnaire to statistical report without any additional software

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Sensesbit handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is concrete and explicitly documented. The privacy policy invokes Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018, and names TASTELAB, S.L. as controller with its registered office and tax number. It lists the full set of rights, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent and complaint to the Spanish data protection authority, exercised via rgpd@sensesbit.com with a one-month response deadline. Security is placed under Article 32, with pseudonymisation and encryption where applicable, and TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest are announced. Processors appear by name in Annex I under Article 28 agreements, and no international transfers are made. A minimum age of 16 is stated. As an EU-established company, no Article 27 representative is required or named.
Who owns the data?
The controller is TASTELAB, S.L., based in Lugo, Spain. Ownership is split by role. Personal data submitted by a registered user through a company code belongs to and is processed by the client company attached to that code, and Sensesbit states it has no direct knowledge of it: it holds only the pseudonymised responses. The client acting as administrator is responsible for the accuracy of the data it enters and for obtaining consent from any third parties it adds to the platform. Non-registered participants answering through a survey code supply no personal data at all. Both the client and Sensesbit can see the answers given to each question.
Reuse rights
The privacy policy sets out a closed list of purposes: registration and use of the app, handling support requests, sending product update information where a newsletter has been accepted, analysing and improving the website and app, refining commercial strategy, and proactive technical or commercial contact. Processing rests on the user's consent. Beyond those purposes, Sensesbit reserves the right to process tasting responses anonymously and without re-identifying the user, in order to improve the app and produce statistical projections. Data is not shared outside the processors listed in Annex I, and no international transfers are declared. Clients keep control of the data collected under their own company code and can export results to spreadsheet or PDF. No opt-out from any model-improvement use is documented anywhere on the site.

Hosting summary
Hosting is governed by Spanish and EU law, the controller being TASTELAB, S.L. of Lugo, Spain. The privacy policy publishes its processors by name in Annex I. OVH HISPANO S.L., registered in Madrid, provides backup storage for the Sensesbit platform under an Article 28 agreement, and CPC SERVICIOS INFORMATICOS S.L., trading as Mailrelay and also based in the Madrid area, handles outbound email. For both, the policy states that no international data transfers are made. Encryption is announced as TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, with single sign-on available on the Enterprise tier. Two limits are worth noting. The only processor tied to platform storage is named for backup rather than primary hosting, and the primary infrastructure is described merely as certified cloud infrastructure, without a provider or a country. Separately, the public website is served through HubSpot's European content delivery network behind Cloudflare, which is the hosting of the marketing site and not of the platform data.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Sensesbit.
- The site contradicts itself on security certification, claiming ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification on some pages while stating elsewhere that ISO 27001 compliance is only on the roadmap, with no certificate number or certifying body published anywhere; treat any certification claim as unverified until you receive the attestation
- Do not confuse the eight ISO standards Sensesbit implements, which are sensory testing method standards built into the software, with a certification of the company itself; they say nothing about how your data is protected
- Pricing is not published on any pricing page and lives only in page metadata and machine-readable files, so amounts may drift without notice; get the tier, the study limits and the price confirmed in a written quote
- An AI that issues a go or no-go recommendation invites teams to stop reasoning about the evidence themselves; the statistical amplification it applies cannot manufacture certainty that a small or poorly recruited panel never contained
- Using generated recommendations to substantiate commercial product claims carries real regulatory exposure, and responsibility for the claim stays with the manufacturer, not the software
- Ownership of participant data is split, with data collected under a company code belonging to the client rather than to Sensesbit, so responsibility for consent and for accuracy rests on the administrator who sets up the study
- No opt-out is documented for the anonymised reuse of tasting responses to improve the product and build statistical projections, so ask for that in writing if your data governance requires it
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low. Sensesbit is deployed within 24 hours of signup, with no on-site visit, no implementation project and no IT integration work. Setup consists of creating user accounts, configuring panel rosters and optionally importing an existing methodology library, and historical Excel data can be imported as part of standard onboarding, with migration support offered for complex datasets. Training runs 60 to 120 minutes per user on the Starter tier and 2 to 4 hours on Professional, and most teams run their first real study within the first business day. The only technical requirement is a browser and an internet connection.

Should you pick Sensesbit?
Sensesbit occupies a genuine niche with unusual credibility for its size. The company behind it, TASTELAB, S.L., was incorporated in 2015 as a University of Santiago de Compostela spin-off, has institutional investors on its board and displays industrial references that can be checked. The product itself is coherent: a complete sensory workflow, a method library anchored in eight ISO standards, and an AI layer that goes further than summarising results by proposing a launch decision with the statistics to defend it. Its clearest audience is a quality or R&D team leaving a manual Excel process behind, which the company itself calls the most common entry point. For that team the value is tangible: randomisation and statistics stop being handmade, reports become immediate, and the entry price is published and modest by the standards of the category. The reservations are about presentation and evidence rather than capability. Pricing is real and consistent across several first-party surfaces, yet no pricing page exists and the URL the site's own structured data points to is dead. No terms and conditions are published. Most importantly, the site claims ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification on some pages while stating elsewhere that ISO 27001 compliance is still on the roadmap, with no certificate number or certifying body given anywhere. Those two statements cannot both be true, and a buyer with a security questionnaire should settle it in writing before signing. Read as a whole, Sensesbit looks like a capable specialist tool whose marketing surface has run ahead of its documentation. Worth a demo and the 14-day trial for any food or beverage team doing regular sensory work, with the certification question asked explicitly.
