Overview

What is ngram?

ngram is an AI video creation platform published by Ngram, a California corporation, and aimed squarely at product and marketing teams rather than at general creative video. Its promise is polished, on-brand video in minutes rather than days.

The advertised workflow has three stages. You bring input: documents, URLs, screen recordings, voice, images or plain text. You define the brief: audience, goal, style and length. ngram then ships a video complete with storyboard, voiceover, music, captions and your brand styling. In practice you type a request in ordinary language, or pick one of ten shortcuts such as explainer, product launch, changelog, customer onboarding, sales enablement or teaser.

What separates it from one-shot generators is the approval step. ngram researches, scripts and storyboards first, then shows you that plan before spending compute on a render. Revisions are phrased conversationally, along the lines of shortening scene two, instead of rebuilding the project. Two documented modes govern this: YOLO runs straight through, PRO stops for validation.

Around that core sits a broad toolset. Sixteen named features cover AI visuals, voiceover, brand kit, captions, motion graphics, multi-format export and translation. Thirteen conversions take a blog post, document, PDF, slide deck, release note, screenshot set or webinar into video. Thirty-three standalone utilities include a screen recorder, image and video background removers, a noise reducer, a voice dubber and a video-to-text converter. Custom voices and presenter faces are available on paid tiers under strict consent rules, and video translation covers 25 languages in both directions, with matched voiceover, translated captions and re-rendered on-screen text.

Automation is unusually well served at this price: a self-service API with bearer authentication and webhooks, a hosted MCP server for agents such as Claude or ChatGPT, plus Zapier, n8n, Make.com and a Chrome extension. The Ultimate tier adds video hosting with a customisable player, quizzes, hotspots and engagement analytics. Maturity is shown rather than asserted: twenty-two generated videos play on the homepage, more than forty documentation guides are published, and pricing is itemised line by line.

What it does

  • Turn a document, PDF, slide deck, blog post, release note or URL into a finished video
  • Generate a script and a storyboard for approval before anything is rendered
  • Add AI voiceover, music, captions and motion graphics automatically
  • Apply a brand kit of logo, colours, fonts and intro or outro across every video
  • Translate and dub a video across 25 languages, in both directions
  • Export one project in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1, then publish to LinkedIn, X or YouTube
  • Trigger video generation from Zapier, n8n, Make.com, an MCP client or the REST API

When to use ngram / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if ngram is the right fit.

When to use ngram

  • Product marketing and product management teams shipping launch, changelog and feature-announcement videos
  • Growth and social media marketers producing landing-page videos, ad variants and vertical clips at volume
  • Customer success and support teams turning help-centre articles and documentation into onboarding walkthroughs
  • Founders and solopreneurs who need investor pitches and product videos without hiring a video team
  • Sales enablement leads and technical writers repurposing demos, webinars and release notes into short watchable assets

When not to use ngram

  • Anyone needing commercial rights on a free account, since ngram keeps ownership of free-tier outputs
  • Teams beyond three seats below the Enterprise plan, as Free, Basic and Premium each allow a single workspace user
  • Mobile-first users, because ngram ships no iOS and no Android application
  • Organisations that require a named hosting location, a subprocessor list or a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate
  • Anyone producing content the acceptable use policy forbids, such as non-consented likenesses, election material or high-stakes decision content

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Script and storyboard are approved before rendering, so mistakes are caught before they cost credits
  • Revisions are expressed in plain language and do not rebuild the project from scratch
  • Paid-plan content is excluded from model training, and outputs are assigned to the customer
  • Free-tier users get a documented training opt-out in their account settings
  • Automation through a REST API, a hosted MCP server, Zapier, n8n and Make.com, unusual at this price
  • Pricing is fully published, down to credit rates, top-up costs and a line-by-line comparison table
  • First-party cookies only, with no third-party advertising trackers

Cons

  • No postal address and no email address anywhere: every contact goes through a form
  • No hosting country, no subprocessor list and no security certification are published
  • The privacy policy dates from January 2025, sixteen months older than the terms
  • Free-tier outputs remain ngram's property and cannot be used commercially
  • A single workspace user up to Premium, and only three on Ultimate
  • The credit model caps premium AI footage per plan, and refunds cover unconsumed credits only
  • No mobile app, and advanced screencast editing is still marked as coming soon

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how ngram handles your data.

GDPR overview

Concrete GDPR references exist. The privacy policy carries a dedicated section for EU and EEA residents listing six rights: access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction and objection. The terms add that business customers subject to GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA may request a Data Processing Addendum through the contact page, and the policy commits to standard contractual clauses for international transfers where required. What is missing is equally concrete: ngram never states in so many words that it is GDPR compliant, designates no Article 27 EU representative, names no data protection officer, publishes no hosting country and no subprocessor list, and displays no certification. Rights can only be exercised through the contact form, as no email address appears on the site. The privacy policy also dates from 24 January 2025, whereas the terms were last updated on 27 May 2026.

Who owns the data?

Under the terms, you keep every right you already hold in your inputs. ngram takes only a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display them, limited to four purposes: running the service, generating your outputs, enforcing the terms and complying with law. Ownership of the outputs then splits by tier. On a paid plan ngram assigns you whatever right, title and interest it holds in the videos generated for your account, so you may publish and monetise them. On the free tier ngram keeps ownership and grants only a personal, non-commercial licence to view, download and share. No output is ever guaranteed unique.

Reuse rights

Paid customers may reuse their outputs without asking permission: the assignment covers use, modification, publication and commercial exploitation, subject to the acceptable use policy. Free-tier users may not, because their licence is explicitly personal and non-commercial; going commercial means upgrading. Two caveats apply in both cases. Identical or similar videos may be generated for other users, who then hold independent rights in them, so exclusivity is never promised. And where provenance signals such as C2PA manifests or invisible watermarks have been embedded in an export, removing, obscuring or altering them breaches the terms whatever you do with the video afterwards. Features powered by third-party models also inherit those providers' own restrictions on inputs and outputs.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Account information and content are kept for as long as the account is active, or as long as needed to run the service. If you delete your account, ngram undertakes to delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, unless legal or business reasons require keeping it. The terms add a matching window: after termination you get a reasonable period, typically 30 days, to export your data before it may be deleted. Three exceptions survive that deletion. Aggregated, anonymised or de-identified usage data, telemetry, error logs and safety signals may be kept indefinitely. Inputs, outputs and metadata may be retained to investigate suspected breaches of the terms or of the law. Full payment card numbers are never stored on ngram's own servers, as a payment processor handles them.

Hosting summary

ngram names no hosting country and no hosting region. The privacy policy acknowledges only that information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, with appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses where required. Service providers are described generically as cloud hosting and payment processing, and said to be contractually bound to protect the data, but none is named and no subprocessor list is published. Security is covered by a standard commitment to appropriate technical and organisational measures, with the usual caveat that no transmission is completely secure, and no certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 appears anywhere on the site. One technical observation that ngram does not itself claim: the website resolves to a United States IP address on Amazon infrastructure, which describes where the marketing site is served rather than where customer videos and account data are stored. A buyer who needs a jurisdiction guarantee will have to obtain it through the contact form, most likely alongside the Data Processing Addendum the terms offer on request.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting ngram.

  • On the free tier ngram owns your outputs and may use your content to train its models unless you opt out in account settings
  • Credits rather than minutes: premium AI footage is capped per plan and burns at least ten credits per second, so costs are easy to misjudge
  • Refunds are pro-rated on unconsumed credits only, nothing is refundable once they are spent, and subscriptions renew automatically
  • Generated videos are not unique, and another customer may receive a near-identical output while holding independent rights in it
  • Custom voices and avatars require documented written consent from the person depicted, and any misuse falls on you rather than on ngram
  • Provenance signals such as C2PA manifests and invisible watermarks may be embedded in exports, and removing them breaches the terms
  • Handing the whole script-to-screen chain to a model erodes the editorial judgement it replaces: outputs can be confidently wrong, and verifying every factual claim before publishing remains your responsibility
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low for the main path. You create an account, type what you want in ordinary language, and ngram claims a first video in under five minutes, with no editing skills required. Complexity is opt-in: brand kits, the PRO approval mode and the full multi-track editor come later, and the no-code connectors to Zapier, n8n and Make.com need no engineering. Only the automation layer calls for developer skills, with a self-service API key, bearer authentication, job polling and webhooks, plus the hosted MCP server used to wire agents such as Claude or ChatGPT into the pipeline.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free plan?
Yes, a permanent one. It grants a one-time allocation of 600 credits and up to 60 seconds of premium AI footage, with 720p exports. The catch is legal rather than technical: ngram keeps ownership of free-tier outputs and licenses them for personal, non-commercial use only.
Does ngram train its models on my content?
Not on paid plans. The terms state that customer content from paid plans is never used to train, fine-tune or improve the generation models. On the free tier it may be, but an opt-out is available at any time from account settings and applies to inputs submitted after it takes effect.
Who owns the videos I generate?
On a paid plan, you do: ngram assigns you whatever right, title and interest it holds in the outputs, and you may publish and commercialise them. On the free tier ngram retains ownership. In neither case is a video guaranteed unique, since other users may receive similar outputs and hold independent rights in them.
What does the cheapest paid plan cost?
Basic costs USD 23.20 per month on an annual commitment, billed USD 278.40 per year, or USD 29.00 per month with no commitment. It includes 3,000 credits per month and up to 300 seconds of premium AI footage, with 720p exports.
Is there an API?
Yes. You create a self-service API key in settings, authenticate with a bearer token, start a video job, poll for the result and verify webhooks. ngram also runs a hosted MCP server at mcp.ngram.com for agent clients such as Claude and ChatGPT, alongside Zapier, n8n and Make.com connectors.
How many languages does the video translator handle?
Twenty-five, in both directions: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Czech and Ukrainian. Translation covers voiceover, captions and re-rendered on-screen text.
What is the minimum age to use ngram?
Thirteen to create an account. Users under eighteen may only use the service with a parent or guardian involved, and the custom avatar and custom voice features are restricted to adults, with written consent required from anyone whose face or voice is used.
How do I contact ngram?
Only through the contact form, live chat, the help centre at help.ngram.com or the community forum. No email address and no postal address appear anywhere on the site, including for legal notices, copyright complaints and privacy requests.
Is a Data Processing Addendum available?
Yes, on request through the contact page, for business customers subject to GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. Note that no EU representative under Article 27 is designated, and no list of subprocessors is published.
Is there a mobile app?
No. ngram runs as a web application, with a Chrome extension and a public API, but publishes neither an iOS nor an Android application.
Conclusion

Should you pick ngram?

ngram is a genuinely shipped product aimed at a narrow, well-chosen target: teams that must produce demo, launch, onboarding and enablement videos on a schedule. The design decision that matters most is the approval step, since showing the script and storyboard before anything renders turns generative video into something a team can plan around. The documentation, the self-service API, the hosted MCP server and the itemised pricing table all point the same way.

Two things deserve attention before committing. The first is the credit model: the monthly price does not buy unlimited video, it buys a quota of premium AI footage, from 60 seconds on the free plan to 5,000 seconds on Ultimate, charged from ten credits per second, with refunds calculated only on credits left unconsumed. Read that table before choosing a tier.

The second is transparency about the company. ngram publishes no postal address, no email address, no hosting location, no subprocessor list and no security certification, and designates no EU representative under Article 27. Its GDPR posture is applied rather than claimed: the six data subject rights are enumerated and a Data Processing Addendum is offered on request, but the phrase GDPR compliant never appears. The privacy policy is also sixteen months older than the terms, a long gap for the document that governs personal data.

For a product or marketing team on a paid plan, where content is excluded from training and outputs are assigned outright, those gaps are manageable. For a regulated buyer running a vendor assessment, they are the first questions to put to the contact form.
