Overview

What is ChatOn?

ChatOn is a general-purpose AI assistant published by AIBY Inc., a Miami-based company, available in a browser at chat.chaton.ai and as iOS and Android apps. Its pitch is consolidation: one toolbox that gathers several leading models so the user stops juggling separate apps and separate subscriptions. The homepage and FAQ name GPT-5, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, o4-mini, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Claude 4.5 Sonnet and Perplexity Sonar and Sonar Pro, and the interface lets the user pick whichever fits the task.

Around the chat sit named modules. Image Generation creates and edits pictures inside the conversation. Pic Transformer applies creative styles to an uploaded photo. Photo to Video animates a still image into a short clip. Web Search pulls live results through Perplexity. Doc Master summarises, rewrites, translates and answers questions about PDF, DOC, TXT and EPUB files, while uploaded images are accepted as JPEG, JPG, PNG and WEBP. OCR reads text off a photographed menu, book page or handwritten note, and an AI detector flags text likely written by a machine. Writing Tone offers six response registers — default, professional, curious, persuasive, friendly and worried — and Web-Mobile Sync makes one purchase cover every device. Four specialised chatbots are advertised: Study Coach, Money Guru, Love Expert and Diet Planner. A library of more than 100 ready-made prompts is filed by use: social media, travel, work, health, code and marketing.

The scale claimed on the homepage is 100 million-plus downloads, over 4 billion tasks solved, 236 countries and more than a million five-star reviews. In March 2026 AIBY reached OpenAI's Blue Tier, marking over a trillion tokens processed through the OpenAI API, and a July 2026 post cites Sensor Tower placing ChatOn in the global top ten generative AI apps by in-app purchase revenue. The awards page lists a 2024 Lovie Award and two App Growth Awards finalist places. YouTube video summaries and human-like text-to-speech are both marked Coming Soon. The interface ships in 19 languages, with 100-plus claimed for conversation and translation.

  • Generate images from a description, then refine details, backgrounds or quality inside the conversation
  • Turn a still photo into a short video with motion and visual effects
  • Apply creative styles to a photo with Pic Transformer
  • Search the live web through Perplexity Sonar and Sonar Pro
  • Summarise, rewrite, translate and interrogate PDF, DOC, TXT and EPUB files, web links and YouTube videos

When to use ChatOn / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if ChatOn is the right fit.

When to use ChatOn

  • People who want several frontier models without paying for several subscriptions: one ChatOn plan covers GPT-5, GPT-4o, o4-mini, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Claude 4.5 Sonnet and Perplexity Sonar, with a switch between them.
  • Writers, copywriters and social media managers, who get more than 100 ready-made prompts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn captions, blog titles, slogans and content plans.
  • Students and job seekers, served by the Study Coach chatbot, a CV generator, interview-question prompts and summaries of PDFs, links and YouTube videos.
  • Phone-first users: the iOS and Android apps carry the same subscription as the web version, and the App Store listing shows 4.7 out of 5 across 281,969 US ratings.
  • Non-technical users who want zero setup: the web version needs no install, everything happens in a conversation, and the response tone is picked from six presets.

When not to use ChatOn

  • Developers who want to build on top of it: ChatOn publishes no API and no developer documentation. It consumes the OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity APIs rather than exposing one.
  • Teams and companies: there is a single paid tier, no seats, no roles, no SSO, and the terms restrict use of the website to non-commercial purposes.
  • Buyers who need compliance paperwork: no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is mentioned, no DPA is offered, and the word GDPR does not appear once in the privacy policy or the terms.
  • Anyone who needs conversations kept out of advertising: on accounts without a subscription, excerpts of the current chat may be shared with contextual advertising partner Velocity IO, Inc. unless the user turns the setting off.
  • Regulated professional work: the terms explicitly rule out legal, medical and financial advice and warn that outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate.
  • Users who need connectors into their existing stack: no Slack, Notion, Zapier or CRM integration is announced.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Several frontier models under one subscription, switchable at will, instead of one bill per provider
  • Genuinely broad coverage in a single place: text, images, short video, live web search, files and OCR
  • A permanent free plan with no card, carrying GPT-4o mini, multi-language support and the AI text detector
  • One purchase covers browser, iOS and Android, with no second payment to change screen
  • Content ownership stated plainly: the user keeps all rights and may use output commercially
  • A named subprocessor table — 13 entities with their location and privacy policy — which is more disclosure than most consumer AI apps offer
  • Real opt-outs where they matter: a toggle for contextual advertising, and the phrase "Talk to a human" to leave AI-assisted support

Cons

  • Prices are invisible without JavaScript: the /pricing/ page is an empty Vue shell in HTML and even carries a noindex directive
  • No API, no developer documentation and no announced third-party connector
  • No team or enterprise plan: one paid tier, no seats, no roles, no SSO
  • Contextual advertising on accounts without a subscription, fed by excerpts of chat shared with Velocity IO, Inc. in Israel
  • No stated position on model training from conversations — only support data is declared exempt, which is a much narrower promise
  • No GDPR mention anywhere, no DPA, no standard contractual clauses, no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification
  • No about or legal-notice page: the legal name and postal address live only in the footer and the terms, and the main footer's legal links point at #

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how ChatOn handles your data.

GDPR overview

The word GDPR never appears — not once in the privacy policy, not once in the terms. What exists is the substance without the label. AIBY designates a representative for the European Union, Konrad Gutowski, reachable at privacy@aiby.com for privacy questions, and lists the usual rights: access, portability, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and opt-out, with a stated 45-day response window and a right to complain to a local supervisory authority. The document is far more developed on United States state laws, which get a dedicated annex covering CCPA/CPRA, TDPSA, VCDPA, CPA and CTDPA. Cross-border transfers to jurisdictions with weaker protection are announced on the basis of user agreement, with no standard contractual clauses cited and no DPA offered. The policy was last modified in July 2026.

Who owns the data?

AIBY Inc. claims no ownership over user content. The terms state in capitals that the user retains all rights to both the text they type (Input Content) and whatever the AI generates (Output Content), and may use it commercially. What AIBY does with it is processing rather than ownership: generation runs through named third parties — OpenAI, L.L.C., Anthropic, PBC, Perplexity AI, Inc., Fireworks AI Inc. and Firecrawl — while support correspondence is stored by Amazon.com, Inc. in the United States. On accounts without a subscription, excerpts of chat context may also reach advertising partner Velocity IO, Inc. AIBY states it will not rent or sell personal data. The user carries the legal risk of using generated content, and warrants holding the rights to anything uploaded.

Reuse rights

Reuse is broad and needs no permission. The terms let the user publish input and output content, incorporate it into other works, print it in any medium, replicate it, distribute it, sell copies of products containing it and profit from a digital version. Two limits sit around that freedom. First, the website itself may only be used for the user's own non-commercial purposes — a clause about the service, not about the generated content. Second, use remains subject to the model providers' own rules: the OpenAI Sharing & Publication Policy, the Anthropic consumer terms and usage policy, the Gemini API terms and section 2 of the Perplexity API terms, together with the territorial restrictions those providers publish. Copyrighted or trademarked material must not be used as input, and AIBY warns that output may be false, incomplete, misleading or out of date, and that identical answers may reach other users.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No figure is published. AIBY says it generally keeps personal information for as long as is necessary to run the website and to meet its legal obligations, and that a user who no longer wants it stored can request erasure — AIBY then says it deletes the data and instructs its providers to do the same, unless a legal exception applies. The exceptions it names are tax, accounting and audit obligations, safety and backup settings, and fraud prevention. Consultation, export and deletion, including permanent account deletion, are available from the app settings. Data gathered to verify a rights request is deleted once the verification is done, and responses are promised within 45 days. Payment data circulates between the user and Paddle and stays inaccessible to AIBY.

Hosting summary

One host is named: Amazon.com, Inc., described as cloud storage provider, located in the U.S.A. No region, availability zone or jurisdiction choice is offered. The wider subprocessor table lists 13 entities with their locations — all in the U.S.A. except Paddle (U.S.A., Ireland and the United Kingdom) and contextual advertising partner Velocity IO, Inc. (Israel). Cross-border transfers to countries whose protection may differ are announced on the basis of the user's agreement. AIBY says it encrypts personal data before sending it to hosting organisations where possible, and works only with hosts that have passed its own security and reliability check; no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA certification is claimed. Governing law and forum are the State of Florida. One caveat on reading the network data: the domain resolves to 104.26.9.244, which geolocates to the United States but belongs to Cloudflare — that is a content delivery node, not a storage location, and it should not be read as hosting.

Availability

Where ChatOn works

Country-level availability.

Not available in

AIBY publishes no list of excluded countries; the restrictions come by reference rather than by name.Countries subject to a United States government embargo, or designated by the United States government as terrorist Supporting, are excluded: users must warrant they are not located in one, and are not on any United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.Outside the United States more generally, AIBY makes no representation that the website is appropriate or available, and places the burden of local legality on the user. The territorial restrictions of the underlying model providers apply as well, with the terms pointing at the supported Country lists published by OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. For context, the homepage claims ChatOn is used in 236 countries.
Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting ChatOn.

  • Chat excerpts feed advertising on free accounts. The Enable context for ads toggle exists, but it lives in the app settings rather than in front of the user on first run, so the default quietly wins.
  • No stated position on training from conversations. Silence is not a guarantee, and it is easy to read the narrow promise about support data as if it covered everything.
  • Answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date — including from the AI support agent, whose statements about refunds or account status the terms explicitly declare non-binding.
  • The Money Guru, Diet Planner and Love Expert chatbots invite exactly the reliance the terms forbid: legal, medical and financial advice are ruled out, and these remain text generators.
  • Dependence and skill fade. A library of ready-made prompts and six tone presets make it very easy to ship text nobody has really read.
  • Generated content is not unique. Other users may receive similar answers, which matters for anyone publishing editorially or submitting academic work.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically within 24 hours of expiry, and outside the legal withdrawal windows refunds are granted at AIBY's sole discretion.
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Close to none. On the web there is nothing to install: open chaton.ai and sign in, with Apple and Google offered as sign-in options. The mobile route is an ordinary store download, needing iOS 16 or later. There is no API key, no webhook and no configuration to work through, and the first three requests unlock the Premium options without any setup at all. The single setting worth knowing about is the Enable context for ads toggle, under Settings then Context Ad Settings, which controls whether chat excerpts are shared for advertising.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which AI models does ChatOn give access to?
The homepage and FAQ name GPT-5, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, o4-mini, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Claude 4.5 Sonnet and Perplexity Sonar and Sonar Pro. The user picks the model that fits the task and can switch at any time. Note that the pricing comparison is one generation behind, still listing Claude 3 Haiku and Claude 3.7 Sonnet.
Is there a free plan, and what does it include?
Yes, a permanent FREE plan at USD 0. It carries answers from GPT-4o mini, multi-language support and detection of AI-written text. Separately, the subscription terms grant Premium options during the first three requests, after which a paid plan is needed for the advanced features.
How much does ChatOn cost?
The PRO plan costs USD 19.99 per month billed monthly, USD 39.99 per quarter, or USD 59.99 per year. Prices are in United States dollars and may vary elsewhere. Amounts for the App Store and Google Play in-app subscriptions are not published on chaton.ai.
Which devices does ChatOn run on?
It runs in any browser with no install, and as an iOS app requiring iOS 16 or later and an Android app. Web-Mobile Sync means a single purchase covers every device, so there is no need to pay twice to switch screen.
Can ChatOn create images and videos?
Yes. Images can be generated from a description and then refined inside the conversation, Pic Transformer applies creative styles to an uploaded photo, and Photo to Video animates a still image into a short clip. All three sit in the PRO plan, not the free one.
Which files can be uploaded, and is there OCR?
Documents are accepted as PDF, DOC, TXT and EPUB, and images as JPEG, JPG, PNG and WEBP. OCR reads text off a photographed menu, book page or handwritten note. File and image upload are PRO features.
Does ChatOn offer an API?
No. Neither an API nor developer documentation is published anywhere on the site. ChatOn is a consumer of other providers' APIs — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity — rather than a provider of its own.
Who owns what ChatOn generates?
The user does. The terms state in capitals that AIBY Inc. claims no ownership rights over user content, that the user retains all rights to both input and output, and that it may be used commercially. AIBY also warns that output may not be unique and that other users can receive similar answers.
Are conversations used to train AI models?
The site does not say. It states only that support data is never used to train its own or its providers' models, which is a narrower promise than a general one. Separately, on accounts without a subscription, excerpts of chat context may be shared with advertising partner Velocity IO, Inc. unless the Enable context for ads toggle is turned off.
How are cancellations and refunds handled?
Website subscriptions are cancelled from the Cancel Subscription button on the profile page or through the Paddle customer portal; store subscriptions are cancelled in Apple or Google account settings. Residents of the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland may withdraw within 14 days, Brazil within 7. Otherwise first-purchase refund windows run 7, 10 and 14 days for monthly, quarterly and yearly plans, at AIBY's discretion.
Conclusion

Should you pick ChatOn?

ChatOn does one thing clearly and does it well: it puts several frontier models behind a single conversational interface and a single subscription, on the web and on both mobile platforms. The execution is unmistakably consumer-grade and unusually well received — 4.7 out of 5 across 281,969 US App Store ratings, a 2024 Lovie Award, and a place in Sensor Tower's global top ten for in-app purchase revenue. For someone who wants GPT-5 one minute and Claude the next, plus image generation, photo-to-video, live web search and document reading without opening another tab, the value is easy to see, and the free plan is generous enough to judge it without paying.

The limits follow from the same positioning. One paid tier at USD 19.99 per month, no seats, no roles, no SSO and no API: this is a personal workstation, not a component to build on. The transparency is uneven in a way worth naming. AIBY publishes a named table of 13 subprocessors with their locations, and states plainly that users own their content and may sell it — both better than the consumer norm. Yet the word GDPR appears nowhere in the legal documents, no DPA is offered, no security certification is claimed, and the company never says whether conversations feed model training; the one training promise it makes covers support messages only. Free accounts also carry contextual advertising fed by excerpts of the chat itself, switchable off in a setting most users will never open.

Read it, then, as what it is: a polished multi-model assistant for individual everyday work, priced for that, with consumer-grade rather than enterprise-grade guarantees. Anyone evaluating it for regulated or company use should ask AIBY directly about training, retention and a data processing agreement before committing.
