Branding5
Branding5 is an AI brand strategy platform from Austrian publisher heyqq GmbH. Enter a brand name and a website URL, and it returns a complete positioning, competitor and marketing playbook in roughly 30 minutes, no agency required.
What is Branding5?
Branding5 is a web application that turns a brand name and a website URL into a complete brand and marketing playbook. It is built by heyqq GmbH, an Austrian company registered with the Vienna commercial court since January 2022, whose founders also publish Polytender and Oscar Stories. The pitch is explicit: agency-grade strategy without the agency, with the site contrasting its own price against the $50,000 it attributes to traditional agencies.
The advertised flow has three moves - you enter your brand details, the AI runs its process, and you receive a full playbook. In practice the onboarding is an eight-step sequence covering company details, inspiration, ideal customer profile, competitors, values, archetype, generation and finally the report. Behind it, the publisher claims more than 100 premium data sources, hundreds of LLM calls and specialised agents (a Brand Identity Agent and a Marketing Agent) running against established strategy frameworks, with archetypes grounded in Jungian psychology.
The deliverable is a shareable web report, exportable to PDF, split into three blocks: Brand Positioning, Your Brand Now and Marketing Strategy. Customers quoted on the site describe reports of 51 and 57 pages. A separate module, Brand Check, scores any asset from 0 to 100 across seven brand dimensions with written justification and a coverage metric; it runs on an in-house embedding model, neutralises the brand name to cancel LLM bias, and is described as grounded in peer-reviewed brand-alignment research. A Personal Brand track adds a Brand Triangle, a Brand Story and, for creatives, a Universe Bible.
Six tools are free and need no account: Free Competitor Analysis, Free Brand Check, a Social Media Cheat Sheet, an Archetype Generator, a Marketing Glossary and a Brand Attribute Quiz. A complete example report is public, so the output can be judged before paying.
The scope is deliberately narrow: Branding5 writes strategy and copy, it does not draw logos or ship visual assets. The report gives a visual identity direction, not production files, and there is no API to plug it into anything else.
What it does
- Generate a full brand positioning, a brand archetype and a brand narrative
- Build an ideal customer profile with demographics, psychographics, behaviours and pain points
- Analyse competitors and produce a SWOT
- Write marketing copy for website, ads, email, social media and sales decks
- Audit a landing page for UX, SEO, Lighthouse scores and core web vitals
- Score any image, text or PDF asset across seven brand dimensions with Brand Check
- Export to PDF, DOCX, Markdown and a brand-guidelines.md file for Cursor or Claude Code
When to use Branding5 / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Branding5 is the right fit.
When to use Branding5
- Founders and early-stage startups that need a brand strategy but cannot fund an agency project
- Marketing agencies and studios positioning up to 20 new client brands a month under white-label reports
- Established SMEs sharpening or rebuilding the positioning of a business that already trades
- Personal brands - creatives, entrepreneurs, coaches and independent professionals - building a public identity
- Freelance consultants and creators who sell strategy work and need a structured, repeatable deliverable
When not to use Branding5
- Teams that need a public API, webhooks or an MCP server: developer access is still only on the roadmap
- People who work mainly from a phone, since the publisher itself recommends a desktop or a tablet
- Buyers expecting finished design assets - the report gives a visual identity direction, not logo files
- Agencies needing full white-label: reports stay on the Branding 5 domain and custom domains are not shipped
- Organisations that require SSO, a signed data processing agreement or a security certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2
How to use Branding5
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Try the six free tools or open the public example report to judge the deliverable before signing up
- Create an account by email on app.branding5.com
- Enter your brand name and website URL in the start form, or begin without a URL if you are pre-launch
- Work through the eight-step onboarding: company details, inspiration, ideal customer profile, competitors, values and archetype
- Review and edit your answers before finalising, since they can still be changed at that stage
- Check the credit cost displayed before launching, then run the generation
- Read the report online block by block: Brand Positioning, Your Brand Now, Marketing Strategy
- Export to PDF, DOCX or Markdown, or take brand-guidelines.md into Cursor or Claude Code
- Share the report by link - it is reachable only through that link, neither indexed nor listed
- Run Brand Check on individual assets to score them against the strategy you have just defined
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Published, readable entry price of 197 USD as a one-time purchase, against the 50,000 USD agency budget the site uses as its own benchmark
- Unusually detailed subprocessor disclosure: nine providers named with address, data processed, purpose, legal basis and storage location
- European hosting documented provider by provider - Frankfurt, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ireland
- Publisher fully identifiable: FN 572680b, VAT ATU77744201, Vienna commercial court, founders named on the about page
- A complete example report and six standalone tools are usable without creating an account
- Thirteen interface locales verified, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Swedish and Turkish
- Public dated roadmap with Released / Planning / In Discussion statuses, and a money-back guarantee advertised on the pricing page
Cons
- Two contradictory prices are published at the same time: 197 USD in the pricing widget, but 147 USD still written on /corporate and several use-case pages
- Two contradictory refund windows: a 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee on the pricing page against "within 14 calendar days" in section 21 of the terms
- The privacy policy is dated March 2024 and is visibly shared with a sibling product: it describes push notifications, app opens, crash reports, device UUIDs and uploaded PDF documents, while Branding5 is a web application with no mobile app
- No API, no webhooks and no MCP server - all three are still at Planning or In Discussion status
- Credits do not roll over on the Tier 3 and Tier 4 plans, and neither unused nor consumed credits are refundable
- No security certification (ISO 27001, SOC 2) and no published compliance programme; whether customer data is used to train models is never addressed anywhere
- Prices are injected by JavaScript, so a visitor without JS sees no amount at all, and testimonials are shown with no aggregate rating or verifiable volume, several of them sourced from AppSumo
Pricing & Plans
A free tier exists without registration: six standalone tools plus several steps of the onboarding flow, including the ideal customer profile generation. The lowest paid entry point is the Complete Brand & Marketing Package at 197 USD, a one-time purchase covering one brand, with VAT excluded and EU VAT charged separately at the local rate. Additional brands are sold at 67 USD each. The subscription tier, the Multi-Brand Agency Plan, is priced at 399 USD per month or 3,588 USD per year. Payment is processed by Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record, and by Lemon Squeezy. Note that the refund window is stated as 7 days on the pricing page but as 14 calendar days in the terms, and that 147 USD is still displayed on some use-case pages; unused and consumed credits are non-refundable in either case.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Branding5 handles your data.
GDPR overview
Branding5 applies the GDPR in practice without ever claiming compliance. The privacy policy states the publisher processes data "exclusively on the basis of legal provisions (GDPR, TKG 2003)", lists consent, legitimate interest and legal obligation as legal bases, and names the rights under Articles 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 7(3) and 77. Non-EU transfers rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses with additional safeguards under Article 44 and following. Technical and organisational measures are listed: HTTPS/TLS encryption, access control, staff training, pseudonymisation, backups and regular review. The Austrian Data Protection Authority (Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb@dsb.gv.at) is named as supervisory authority, with privacy@branding5.com as the dedicated contact. As the publisher is established in Austria, no Article 27 representative is required. The phrase "GDPR compliant", ISO 27001 and SOC 2 appear nowhere on the site, and no certification is claimed.
Who owns the data?
The privacy policy names Branding 5 / HeyQQ GmbH, Wasagasse 23, 1090 Vienna, Austria as the controller for personal data, and Austrian law governs the contract. The terms are explicit that "nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of your Marks to us", so your trademarks and logo stay yours; you do, however, grant HeyQQ GmbH a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free and revocable licence to display them as a customer reference in marketing, which can be withdrawn by emailing hello@branding5.com. Ownership of the generated report itself is never addressed anywhere on the site, which leaves a real gap.
Reuse rights
Data is processed for a listed set of purposes: account creation, order and account management, payment, support, marketing and advertising, and collecting customer reviews. Any other purpose requires prior consent. The policy states that data is not shared without consent outside the listed circumstances, which cover advertising services, marketing agencies, analytics, debt collection, and data collection and processing providers. Nine subprocessors are named under Article 28 contracts: Vercel, Google Cloud Storage, Google Firebase Firestore, PostHog, Microsoft Azure AI, Google Gemini, Google Analytics, Paddle and Lemon Squeezy, and EmailOctopus; the FAQ adds LLM agents built on Gemini 2.5 Pro and O1 plus third-party APIs such as ScreenshotOne. The publisher declares it uses "no automated decision-making or profiling that has legal effects on you or similarly significantly affects you". On the output side, the site never states who owns the generated report or under which licence an end user may reuse or resell it, so reuse rights are undocumented rather than granted, and nothing anywhere says whether customer data feeds model training.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Every page carries a "Hosted in Germany" footer badge, and the privacy policy backs it with a provider-by-provider storage map. Vercel Inc. hosts the site with declared storage in the EU (Frankfurt). Google Cloud Storage and Google Firebase Firestore, both contracted through Google Ireland Ltd, store in Belgium and in Frankfurt respectively, Firestore holding profiles, authentication and logs. Microsoft Azure AI, through Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd, stores in the Netherlands. Google Gemini, Google Analytics and PostHog Inc. are declared in the EU, PostHog under standard contractual clauses. EmailOctopus Ltd, based in London, stores on AWS Ireland. Payment is the exception: Paddle and Lemon Squeezy process in the United States under standard contractual clauses, with a seven-year tax retention, Paddle acting as Merchant of Record. Third-country transfers rely on Article 46(2)(c) standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, Article 47 binding corporate rules and additional technical measures. One network caveat: the site resolves to 216.150.16.65, an address reported as anycast on Amazon AS16509, so the country of the answering node tells you nothing about where data actually lives.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Branding5.
- Two pricing generations are live at once: 197 USD in the pricing widget against 147 USD still written on the corporate page and in several use-case pages. Confirm the amount in writing before ordering. The 197 USD figure is the corroborated one, since additional brands are sold at 67 USD advertised as 66% off.
- Two refund windows coexist: a 7-day money-back guarantee on the pricing page against 14 calendar days in section 21 of the terms. The publisher does not resolve which one binds.
- The privacy policy is dated 8 March 2024 and mixes in vocabulary from a sibling product - push notifications, app opens, crash reports, device UUIDs, uploaded PDF documents - although Branding5 is a web application with no mobile app. It also sets a minimum age of 16 while the terms separately require the age of majority in your state or province of residence.
- By default the terms grant the publisher a revocable worldwide licence to display your name and logo as a customer reference in its marketing. Opting out means writing to hello@branding5.com.
- Nothing on the site states whether customer data is used to train models, and no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification is published. Do not upload confidential brand material on the assumption that it is excluded from training.
- Identity details do not match across sources: the imprint writes "heyqq GmbH" in lower case where the commercial register, VIES, the terms and the privacy policy write "HeyQQ GmbH", and the address is Wasagasse 23 on the imprint against Wasagasse 23/22 in the register. The January 2022 start date belongs to the multi-product publisher, not to Branding5 itself: the domain was only registered in October 2023, and it is second-hand - it carried unrelated sites in 2018 and 2019.
- An AI-generated strategy is a first draft, not a verdict. Reports come from LLM agents applying generic frameworks, and accepting the positioning, the archetype and the competitor reading without challenging them outsources judgement that should stay human. Testimonials are shown with no aggregate rating, several come from AppSumo, and the FAQ claims 11 interface languages where 13 locales actually serve content.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Branding5 is a pure web application with nothing to install: you sign up by email on app.branding5.com and give a brand name and a website URL - you can even start without a URL if you are pre-launch. An eight-step guided onboarding walks you through the rest, with a first report announced in about 30 minutes. No API key, no integration and no branding expertise are required, according to the FAQ. One constraint remains: the publisher recommends a desktop or a tablet, as the mobile experience is still being completed.

Should you pick Branding5?
Branding5 occupies a clear niche: it is an AI-assisted brand strategy tool, not a design studio. For 197 USD paid once, a founder or an SME gets a structured playbook - positioning, archetype, narrative, ideal customer profile, competitor SWOT, a landing page audit and ready-to-use marketing copy - where an agency engagement would cost far more. The scope stops where design begins: you receive a visual identity direction, not logo files.
What sets the publisher apart is documentation. heyqq GmbH is fully identified in the Austrian commercial register, its nine subprocessors are each named with address, purpose, legal basis and storage location, and the hosting chain is European provider by provider. Few tools of this size publish that much.
The reservations are real. Two prices are live at the same time - 197 USD in the pricing widget, 147 USD still printed on the corporate page - and two refund windows coexist, seven days on the pricing page against fourteen calendar days in the terms. The privacy policy dates from March 2024 and is visibly shared with a sibling product: it discusses push notifications, crash reports and device identifiers for what is a plain web application. There is no API, no webhooks, white-labelling is only partial, and nothing anywhere states whether customer data trains models. The domain itself is second-hand, registered in October 2023 and previously used by unrelated sites.
Branding5 is a reasonable purchase if you want a fast, structured first draft of a brand strategy and you accept that it is a starting point to refine, not a finished identity. Read the terms before buying, and ask the publisher in writing which price and which refund window actually apply to your order.
