Overview

What is PostNitro?

PostNitro is an AI social content engine built around one format: the carousel post. You give it a topic, a block of text, an article URL or an X (Twitter) post or thread, choose how many slides you want, and it writes the copy, lays each slide out on a template and applies your brand elements. The result can then be scheduled and published without leaving the product.

Native publishing covers four platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Threads. Carousels are also created for X (Twitter), and optimised output exists for Facebook Pages and Ads, Pinterest and Reddit, but those are export destinations rather than automatic ones. Platform quirks are handled for you, from LinkedIn carousels as PDF documents to Instagram multi-image posts and TikTok's vertical 9:16 Photo Mode.

The generation layer draws on a model catalogue that widens with each plan: GPT 5.4 Nano, Mini and full, plus Claude Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.7 for text, alongside dozens of image models including Flux 2, Imagen 4, Ideogram, Recraft, Hunyuan and Nano Banana Pro. Reusable AI presets store platform, tone, audience, language and slide count. Brand kits hold custom fonts, exact colours and logos, while workspaces, team members and approval workflows serve agencies.

What separates PostNitro from a design tool is that every capability is reachable programmatically. There is a public REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 specification, an MCP server exposing 28 tools that is MIT-licensed and self-hostable, a CLI installed through npm, an installable agent skill, and an Embed SDK that 200+ third-party social platforms use to drop the editor into their own products. The company describes the result as a content engine an AI agent can drive from prompt to published post, with design as one step rather than the product.

Around that core sit a Chrome extension that formats text and builds carousels inside LinkedIn's editor, and eleven free tools usable without an account: banner makers, a grid splitter, safe-zone checkers, a character counter and an image resizer. PostNitro Inc. was founded in 2023, is self-funded, and reports 82,000+ creators and 100+ templates.

What it does

  • Generate a complete multi-slide carousel from a topic, raw text, an article URL or an X post or thread
  • Schedule and auto-publish natively to LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Threads
  • Apply a brand kit: uploaded fonts, exact colour palettes, logos and team headshots
  • Generate single-image posts and AI images from a large catalogue of models
  • Export as PNG per slide, a single PDF, an MP4 slideshow or an editable DESIGN file
  • Drive the whole loop programmatically through a REST API, an MCP server, a CLI or an agent skill
  • Create and format carousels inside LinkedIn's own editor with the Chrome extension

When to use PostNitro / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if PostNitro is the right fit.

When to use PostNitro

  • Solo creators and B2B professionals who publish carousels regularly and want copy, design and posting handled in a single pass
  • Marketing teams and agencies that need workspaces, named team members and approval workflows before content goes live
  • Marketers without design skills who would otherwise spend 30 to 60 minutes building each carousel by hand
  • Developers and SaaS platforms embedding a carousel editor through the Embed SDK, already used by 200+ third-party products
  • AI agent users who would rather drive content from a chat client, a CLI or an MCP server than from a browser interface

When not to use PostNitro

  • Anyone needing pixel-level design freedom: the template-based approach is deliberately more constrained, as the vendor's own Canva comparison concedes
  • Teams wanting one general-purpose tool for presentations, websites, posters and video, since PostNitro stays focused on carousels
  • Users whose priority is native publishing to X (Twitter), which is supported only as a content source and an export format
  • Organisations requiring a signed DPA, documented GDPR compliance or a guaranteed hosting location, none of which is published
  • Anyone unwilling to let their carousel content train the vendor's AI model, since no opt-out is documented
Get started

How to use PostNitro

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Open the carousel maker on the free plan, which needs no credit card
  2. Enter your input: a topic, raw text, an article URL, or the URL of an X post or thread
  3. Choose how many slides the AI should produce
  4. Let the AI write the content and apply a template, then review the generated slides
  5. Pick or customise a template from the 100+ library, adjusting colours, fonts, layout and images
  6. Apply a brand kit with your own fonts, colour palette, logo and team headshots
  7. Export as PNG, PDF, MP4 or an editable DESIGN file, or continue to publishing
  8. Connect your social accounts, which is available from the Creator plan upward
  9. Pick a date and time in the drag-and-drop content calendar, adding a LinkedIn first comment if needed
  10. For automation, take an API key from the dashboard, then use the REST API, the CLI on Node.js 18 or later, or the MCP server

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Creates and schedules in one product, so nothing has to be built elsewhere and imported, which the vendor presents as its difference from Buffer and Hootsuite
  • A claimed two to five minutes per carousel against 30 to 60 minutes of manual design work
  • Genuine permanent free plan, with no credit card required to start
  • Unusually complete programmable surface: REST API, MCP server, CLI, agent skill and Embed SDK on a single credit pool
  • The MCP server is MIT-licensed and can be self-hosted
  • Platform-specific formats are handled automatically, from LinkedIn PDF documents to TikTok's 9:16 ratio
  • Publishes a dated, citable facts page that corrects errors circulating about itself, which is uncommon transparency

Cons

  • Scheduling is excluded from the free and Starter plans and starts at the Creator plan, 25 USD per month
  • API access is not bundled into the base plans: it needs a 10 USD per month add-on or a Plus plan
  • The free plan watermarks exports and allows only five downloads in total
  • No native publishing to X (Twitter), even though carousels are created for it
  • No mention of the GDPR, no DPA, no disclosed hosting location, and no postal address or legal notice
  • Carousel creation data trains the vendor's AI model, with no opt-out documented
  • A library of 100+ templates is modest next to general design suites, and design freedom is correspondingly limited

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how PostNitro handles your data.

GDPR overview

There is no mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site, nor of the CCPA, SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA. No EU representative under Article 27 is designated, no data protection officer is named, and no data processing agreement is offered or referenced. What the privacy policy does grant is the right to request access to, deletion of, or correction of personal data, exercised by emailing support@postnitro.ai, with account and data deletion completed within 24 hours. Security is described only in general terms: encryption, firewalls and access controls. Changes to the policy are announced by email at least one month in advance. The privacy policy is dated 5 October 2023 and the terms 20 May 2024, both older than the current product. Read the silence as unresolved rather than as compliance or non-compliance.

Who owns the data?

Under the terms of service, content you upload, transmit or share remains your property. You nevertheless grant PostNitro a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to access, use, reproduce, distribute, modify and display that content, limited to operating the service, and you warrant that you hold the rights to everything you upload. PostNitro keeps full ownership of the service itself, including its software, code, databases, trademarks and logos, and grants no implied licence over them. The privacy policy names PostNitro Inc. as the controller of the personal data processed about you, and no postal address or legal notice is published anywhere on the site.

Reuse rights

The carousels, images and copy you generate are yours to reuse without asking permission: the terms state that content you upload, transmit or share remains your property, and nothing restricts commercial publication of the exports, which is the entire purpose of the product. Output comes as PNG files, a single PDF, an MP4 slideshow or an editable DESIGN file, watermarked on the free plan and clean from the Starter plan upward. In the other direction, the reuse the vendor grants itself is broader than it first appears: the privacy policy states that data related to carousel creation is used to train its AI model, and that email addresses, names, profile photos, created content and usage analytics are collected, with data shared with UserMaven, CrispChat and a payment processor. No mechanism to exclude your content from that training is described.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept for as long as the account stays active, and the policy sets no fixed period beyond that. Asking for deletion triggers a firm commitment: an email to support@postnitro.ai has the account and all associated data permanently removed within 24 hours, with content, settings and subscription details going with it. The action is irreversible, and the only stated exception covers data that legal obligations require the company to keep. Closing an account from the dashboard is a separate step and takes effect on the next billing date. No retention period is published for server logs, backups or usage analytics, and no anonymisation practice is described, so the 24-hour promise covers what the company treats as your account data rather than every trace of your activity.

Hosting summary

PostNitro publishes nothing about where its data is hosted: no country, no region, no cloud provider and no jurisdiction clause. There is no trust or security page, no subprocessor list and no data processing agreement, and the URLs one would expect for those return 404. The privacy policy describes safeguards without locating them, namely encryption, firewalls and access controls, and names three third parties that receive data by way of example rather than as a complete list: the UserMaven analytics service, the CrispChat support tool and an unnamed payment processor, which the subscription documentation identifies as Lemon Squeezy. The only geographic signal comes from outside the site: the domain resolves to an address geolocated in the United States and announced by an Amazon autonomous system, flagged as anycast, which points to a commodity edge platform rather than to any commitment by the vendor. That is an observation about infrastructure, not a disclosure, and it should not be read as a guarantee about where content is stored or processed. An organisation with a data residency requirement has nothing here to rely on and would need to ask the company directly.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting PostNitro.

  • Your carousel content trains the vendor's model: the privacy policy says so plainly and describes no opt-out, so treat unpublished ideas and client material as disclosed
  • Volume can quietly replace judgement, because an engine that produces a publishable carousel in minutes rewards posting often rather than posting well, and audiences spot generic output faster than teams do
  • Delegating the writing erodes the skill: people who let the AI structure every hook and every slide tend to lose the feel for what actually makes their own audience stop scrolling
  • The Canva comparison page still claims PostNitro does not generate images, which the pricing and facts pages contradict, so verify any capability claim against the facts page before relying on it
  • Scale figures are self-reported, including a 5.0 rating over 66,000 ratings in the page's structured data, and the company acknowledges the numbers come from its own systems
  • No postal address, legal notice or hosting location is published, which limits recourse if something goes wrong and complicates any vendor assessment
  • Auto-publishing to connected accounts means a poor generation can go live unattended, and the approval workflow that would catch it exists only on team plans
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low for ordinary use: no installation, no credit card, and a three-step flow from topic to finished carousel, with the free tools usable without an account at all. Connecting social accounts for scheduling requires the Creator plan. The Chrome extension installs in one click. Programmatic use is a step up but stays conventional: take an API key from the dashboard and pass it as a header, install the CLI with npm on Node.js 18 or later, or point an MCP client at the server with a bearer token. Self-hosting the MCP server is possible under its MIT licence.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does PostNitro publish to social networks itself, or does it only export files?
It publishes natively to four platforms, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Threads, from the Creator plan upward. X (Twitter) is supported as a content source and an export format, not as an automatic publishing destination. Free and Starter subscribers can create and download but cannot connect social accounts.
Is there a free plan, and what does it limit?
Yes, permanently and without a credit card. It allows one workspace, one brand kit, up to five AI-generated slides per carousel, 20K AI content tokens and five downloads, and it watermarks exports. GPT 5.4 Nano is the only model available on it.
What is the cheapest way to reach the API?
Either the Embed API add-on at 10 USD per month for 250 credits on top of any paid plan, or the Creator+ plan at 30 USD per month, which bundles 200 credits. There is no free tier for API access. Importing content costs one credit per slide and AI generation costs two.
Which export formats are available?
PNG with one file per slide, a single PDF document, an MP4 slideshow, or an editable DESIGN file with no render. LinkedIn carousels are produced as PDF documents, and TikTok output uses vertical 9:16 Photo Mode.
Does PostNitro train its AI on my content?
Yes. The privacy policy states that data related to carousel creation is used to train the company's AI model. No opt-out mechanism is documented anywhere on the site, which is worth weighing if your drafts or client material are confidential.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Send an email to support@postnitro.ai. The company undertakes to permanently delete the account and all associated data within 24 hours, except where legal obligations require retention. The deletion is irreversible and covers content, settings and subscription details.
Is there a mobile app?
No iOS or Android application exists. Beyond the web app there is a Chrome extension, PostNitro Composer, which formats text and builds carousels directly inside LinkedIn's editor and is free to install.
Which tools can drive PostNitro automatically?
An MCP server with 28 tools, tested with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Claude Cowork, Cursor and ChatGPT; a CLI requiring Node.js 18 or later; an installable agent skill; and no-code connectors for n8n, a verified partner node, as well as Zapier and Make.
What is the minimum age to use the service?
Thirteen. The terms of service require users to be at least 13 years old and able to enter into legally binding contracts.
Can I get a refund?
Paid subscription fees are refundable within seven days of purchase, after which all granted licences terminate immediately. An account can be closed at any time from the dashboard, taking effect on the next billing date.
Conclusion

Should you pick PostNitro?

PostNitro began in 2023 as a bootstrapped carousel generator and has grown into something harder to categorise: a content engine that writes, designs, schedules and publishes, and that an AI agent can drive end to end. That widening is the most interesting thing about it. The REST API, the MIT-licensed MCP server with its 28 tools, the CLI and the Embed SDK used by 200+ third-party platforms are not marketing garnish, and they explain why the company rejects comparison with design suites.

For the intended user, a creator, marketer or agency shipping carousels every week, the proposition is credible. A real free plan allows testing without a card, platform formats are handled automatically, and the claimed two to five minutes per carousel is plausible for template-driven output.

Two reservations deserve weight. The first concerns the shape of the pricing rather than its level: the 15 USD entry plan cannot schedule anything, so the functional starting point is 25 USD, and programmatic access costs more again. The company knows this is confusing and says so on its own facts page. The second is data governance, and it is the weaker side of the product. There is no mention of the GDPR, no DPA, no disclosed hosting location, no postal address or legal notice, and the privacy policy states plainly that carousel creation data trains the company's model with no opt-out described. An individual creator may accept that; a regulated organisation probably cannot.

Worth trying if you publish carousels often and want creation and scheduling in one place; worth pausing over if your content is confidential or your procurement process asks for paperwork. The dated, self-correcting facts page suggests a vendor willing to be held to what it claims.
