Heyy
Heyy is a no-code platform that builds AI Employees to answer, qualify and follow up on customer conversations across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, live chat and SMS, from one shared inbox with automations, campaigns and a mini-CRM.
What is Heyy?
Heyy is a customer messaging platform built around what it calls AI Employees - configurable AI agents you hire, brief and put to work on your conversation channels. The company describes an AI Employee as a digital, customisable AI entity that handles support, sales, onboarding or internal operations, in the way a virtual team member would: it chats with customers, answers FAQs, qualifies leads and reaches into connected tools to get something done.
The product is organised in five blocks. AI Employees carry the identity, guidelines, knowledge content and capabilities you give them. The shared inbox gathers every conversation for human agents, with routing, internal notes and saved views. Automations supply triggers, actions, journeys and an activity log. Campaigns send outbound broadcasts to contact audiences. A Mini-CRM holds contacts, labels, custom attributes and filters. Five channels feed all of it: WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, website live chat and SMS - the solutions page also mentions email.
Underneath sit a Smart Flow Engine of outcome-focused rules, escalation logic that routes to a human with full context and sentiment awareness, and integrations with CRM, ticketing and e-commerce systems. Shopify, WooCommerce, HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive are named. Anything not covered can be built through the documented v3 REST API and webhooks, and full API access is included from the first paid tier.
Heyy claims 250+ brands across 12 industries, 5.3 million conversations automated monthly, 62% of conversations resolved within five minutes without a human, and up to 80% of routine enquiries automated. None of these figures comes with a methodology. Named customers include Giftti, GO-OUT, Vizi, JetCopy, MyPlan and the Sdot Dan Regional Council, which used it for citizen engagement.
No coding is required to set it up; developers are optional. The company behind the product is Heyy Group LLC, its terms are governed by Delaware law, and its engineering roles are advertised as on-site in Israel.

When to use Heyy / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Heyy is the right fit.
When to use Heyy
- Support teams drowning in repetitive questions - order status, delivery updates, password resets - who want a first line of answers running around the clock.
- Online retailers who need order tracking, returns and cart recovery handled inside the chat, with Shopify or WooCommerce plugged in behind it.
- Sales and growth teams that want inbound leads captured, qualified, tagged and pushed to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive without manual triage.
- Small and mid-sized companies whose customers already write on WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, and who want those threads in one inbox instead of three phones.
- Service businesses built on appointments and intake - clinics, dental practices, hotels, estate agencies, driving schools - where scheduling and follow-up eat the day.
When not to use Heyy
- Organisations with a formal vendor-security process: Heyy publishes no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, no data processing agreement and no subprocessor list.
- Teams needing a documented EU compliance footprint: no Article 27 representative, no named DPO, and no postal address anywhere on the site.
- Anyone looking for a permanently free tier - the entry point is 49 USD per month once the 14-day trial ends.
- Solo users who only need a single website chat widget; the first tier caps you at one AI Employee, three channels and ten automations.
- People who want to work from a phone: Heyy ships no iOS or Android application, only a web app and an API.
How to use Heyy
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account on app.heyy.io - no credit card is required to start the 14-day trial
- Connect your channels: WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, the website live chat widget and SMS
- Hire your first AI Employee and give it an identity, tone and behavioural guidelines
- Load the content it should know: FAQs, policies, product information and other knowledge material
- Grant it capabilities and actions - what it is allowed to look up, trigger or send
- Build automations: choose triggers, chain actions, and assemble longer journeys where needed
- Connect the tools it needs, through the native CRM and e-commerce integrations or via webhooks and the v3 API
- Set escalation rules so complex or tense conversations reach a human with the full thread
- Take it live, then work the shared inbox with your team using routing, labels and saved views
- Review the analytics on topics, sentiment and revenue attribution, and refine the flows from what you see

Pricing & Plans
Heyy offers no permanent free plan. Access begins with a 14-day free trial that requires no credit card, after which the cheapest paid tier, Hobby, costs USD 49 per month on monthly billing, or USD 41 per month on annual billing, where two months are offered free. Credits and WhatsApp messages are charged separately from the subscription: credits are sold at USD 20 per 1,000, with one credit consumed per automation trigger and per AI message, while WhatsApp messages follow a per-country, per-category rate card. Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Heyy handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy policy, effective 1 January 2025 and last updated 28 August 2025, carries a dedicated section titled Additional Disclosures for GDPR Compliance (EU), plus separate appendices for the UK GDPR, Canadian PIPEDA, the Australian Privacy Act and six US states. Heyy declares itself a data controller and/or processor, lists its lawful bases (consent, contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation) and the full set of data subject rights, including portability in CSV and deletion within 90 days. Transfers out of the EEA are said to rely on European Commission standard contractual clauses. The gaps are substantial: no Article 27 EU representative, no named DPO, no data processing agreement, no subprocessor list, no postal address, and the supervisory authority actually quoted is the UK's ICO.
Who owns the data?
Heyy's terms say almost nothing about who owns customer data. There is no ownership clause: the intellectual property section covers only the website's own materials, and the warranty disclaimer states in capitals that Heyy does not review customer data for accuracy. The privacy policy is where the picture fills in. Heyy describes itself as controller and/or processor, discloses personal information to IT, hosting, analytics and payment providers, to employees and contractors, and to authorities. Content you submit for publication becomes public after review. If the company is acquired or goes bankrupt, your data travels with the assets. Product-side, the FAQ says you control what each AI Employee can access.
Reuse rights
Nothing in the terms grants the customer a licence over data held in Heyy, and nothing restricts reuse of your own conversations, contacts or exports either - the question is simply not addressed. What the privacy policy does spell out is Heyy's own use: running and personalising the service, analytics, market research and product development, advertising and marketing, record keeping, legal compliance, security and fraud prevention. Two third parties are named, Google Analytics and posthog. Data may also be combined with information from other trusted sources, including social profiles you connect. Browser Do Not Track signals are ignored. On the point that matters most for an AI product - whether customer conversations feed model training - the site says nothing at all, in either direction.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Heyy's own documents do not agree with each other. The general section of the privacy policy states that personal information is stored and/or processed in Germany, or wherever the company, its partners, affiliates and third-party providers maintain facilities. The Canadian PIPEDA appendix says data is kept within locations in Canada, with agents or service providers in the United States, the EEA or the United Kingdom. The UK GDPR appendix says it is stored and processed in the United Kingdom. All three cannot be true, and the site never arbitrates. Germany is retained here because it appears in the policy's general section rather than a jurisdiction-specific annex. Transfers out of the EEA are said to rely on European Commission standard contractual clauses or binding corporate rules. No region choice or data residency option is offered. On the network side, the domain resolves to an Amazon Web Services anycast node geolocated in the United States - a content delivery front end, not evidence of where data is stored.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Heyy.
- The vendor publishes no address and no legal or privacy contact beyond a single support mailbox - if a dispute or a data request goes wrong, there is nowhere else to write.
- The terms page carries an entire block of another company's conditions, including their support email. Read what you are actually agreeing to before you sign anything.
- The privacy policy states three different hosting jurisdictions in three different sections, so nobody can tell you today where your customers' conversations physically sit.
- Nothing on the site says whether customer conversations are used to train AI models - the silence covers both answers, and silence is not a commitment.
- An AI Employee answering in your brand's voice will occasionally be confidently wrong; the terms explicitly disclaim the accuracy of AI-generated outputs and put the review burden on you.
- Automating the easy conversations can quietly deskill a support team: the humans keep only the hard cases, and lose the everyday practice that made them good at them.
- Costs scale with volume through credits and WhatsApp messages, so a successful campaign and an unexpected bill arrive in the same week - watch the meter, not just the plan price.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for the standard path. Heyy states that no technical knowledge is required, and the flow is three steps: connect your channels, build your flows and escalation rules, then go live and refine. A structured help centre covers each module. The friction sits elsewhere: connecting WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger requires business accounts on those platforms, which the public site does not walk through. Deeper work - custom actions, backend calls - moves to the v3 API and webhooks and needs a developer. Guided onboarding and migration support exist only on the Enterprise tier.

Should you pick Heyy?
Heyy does one thing and documents it properly: turning inbound customer conversations on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, live chat and SMS into work that mostly runs itself. The five product blocks fit together sensibly, the setup genuinely requires no code, and the developer story is real rather than decorative - a full v3 REST API and webhooks, included from the cheapest paid tier rather than reserved for enterprises. Pricing is published in full, including the two variable costs that most vendors bury: credits at USD 20 per 1,000, and WhatsApp messages on a per-country rate card. The trial runs 14 days without a credit card, and there is no contract to escape.
The weak side is the paperwork. There is no security certification, no data processing agreement, no subprocessor list, no Article 27 representative and no postal address anywhere on the site - one email address serves support, legal and privacy alike. Worse, the legal pages show signs of haste: the terms page ends with an entire block of another vendor's conditions, complete with their support email, and the privacy policy names Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom as the hosting location in three different sections. The performance figures on the marketing pages - 80%, 62%, 5.3 million conversations - come without methodology, and one testimonial appears three times under the same name with different numbers.
So the sensible reading is this: a capable, well-priced product from a young company that has not yet built the compliance and editorial discipline a larger buyer will ask for. If your procurement asks for a DPA and a certification, Heyy is not ready. If you are a small or mid-sized team that lives in customer chat and wants it automated this month, it is worth the trial.
