Conveo
Conveo is an AI-moderated research platform that interviews real consumers by video, voice or text in over 50 languages, then turns those conversations into themes, quotes and decision-ready insights for enterprise insights, marketing and product teams.
What is Conveo?
Conveo is a consumer understanding platform built around an AI moderator that interviews real people by video, voice or text in more than 50 languages. It is not a survey tool, and it uses neither avatars nor synthetic respondents: participants speak, show and demonstrate, while the AI listens, follows the thread and probes where a static questionnaire would stop. The publisher claims that more than 70% of final insights come from these AI-driven follow-ups.
The platform covers the whole study lifecycle. A study assistant helps structure the design, quotas, sequencing and questions using built-in research logic. Recruitment runs through CSV uploads, public links, QR codes, WhatsApp invitations or integrated panels such as Respondent.io, User Interviews, Prolific, Dynata and iVOX. Interviews are asynchronous and run globally. Analysis is automatic and covers transcription, coding, thematic clustering, personas, emotional analysis and facets, with click-through charts leading from an aggregate figure down to the verbatim behind it. Outputs include executive summaries, slides, quote reels and CSV exports.
Two regimes coexist. Always-On programmes such as monthly brand trackers, category pulses and quarterly usage-and-attitudes studies run continuously, while deep-dive studies answer a specific question when a signal changes. Everything feeds a queryable knowledge layer, so teams can interrogate past work through a Talk to Your Data interface rather than starting over. The StoryLines module extends this into continuous consumer understanding programmes.
Methods covered include ethnography, jobs-to-be-done, brand research, concept, product and packaging testing, creative, ad and claims testing, UX and design research with live screen sharing, shopper and path-to-purchase work, customer journey mapping and MaxDiff. Conjoint, Kano and Turf, along with Gabor-Granger and Van Westendorp pricing research, are announced as coming soon.
The publisher is Conveo.AI BV, incorporated in Antwerp, Belgium on 16 April 2024 and founded by Dieter De Mesmaeker, previously founder and CTO of DataCamp, and Hendrik Van Hove, formerly of McKinsey & Company. The company went through Y Combinator in the S24 batch. Access is enterprise-oriented and sales-led: there is no self-service signup and no published price.

When to use Conveo / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Conveo is the right fit.
When to use Conveo
- Consumer and market insights teams at large brands running continuous brand trackers, category pulses and usage-and-attitudes programmes across several markets
- Marketing and brand teams that want concept, packaging, claims and creative work tested with real people before media budget is committed
- Product and innovation teams doing discovery, jobs-to-be-done work and concept validation who need the reasoning behind a preference, not just the score
- Customer experience teams mapping journeys and looking for the friction points and moments that actually move loyalty
- UX and design researchers who need live screen sharing with an AI that probes on the actions it sees, and who run studies in many languages at once
When not to use Conveo
- Small teams and individual researchers: nothing is priced publicly, there is no self-service signup, and access starts with a sales demo
- Anyone needing a short or flexible commitment, since billing cycles are annual or multi-annual and cancellation must be requested at least 90 days before renewal
- Buyers who need a statistically representative sample guaranteed by the vendor, which the terms of service explicitly decline to warrant
- Research involving special category data under Article 9 GDPR, which the acceptable use policy forbids unless a signed data processing addendum covers it
- Teams wanting a mobile app or an offline tool: Conveo is web-only, and API access is granted on request rather than by default
How to use Conveo
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Book a demo from the website, since there is no self-service signup and access is granted through a commercial conversation
- Try the demonstration study offered without an account to see how the AI moderator conducts an interview
- Sign in to the web application at app.conveo.ai once your organisation has been set up
- State your research goal and let the study assistant propose the design, quotas, sequencing and questions
- Add screener questions, stimuli, routing, randomisation and quotas, then test the study before launch
- Choose how to recruit: upload a CSV, share a public link or QR code, send WhatsApp invitations, or use an integrated panel
- Launch the study and let interviews run asynchronously across markets and languages
- Review the interview grid and transcripts as responses arrive
- Work through the analysis: thematic analysis, question coding, facets, personas and emotional analysis
- Share the outcome as an executive summary, slides or quote reels, and keep querying past studies through Talk to Your Data
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Research methodology is genuinely built in, with a named research team and study designs that non-specialists can run
- Qualitative and quantitative work sit in the same study, with AI probing placed directly behind closed questions
- Studies compound instead of expiring: a queryable knowledge layer lets teams build on what the organisation already knows
- Multimodal capture goes beyond what people say to what they show and do on camera or on screen
- Broad language and time coverage, with more than 50 languages and asynchronous interviews running around the clock
- Data protection commitments are written down rather than implied: a public DPA, a clear no-training clause and European hosting
- The publisher publishes fourteen head-to-head competitor comparisons and commits to saying where a rival is stronger
Cons
- No pricing whatsoever is published: no pricing page, no rate card and no entry-level figure
- Commitment is heavy, with annual or multi-annual billing and a 90-day cancellation notice before renewal
- The liability cap is very low, limited to the lesser of twelve months of fees or EUR 10,000, and fees are non-refundable
- The vendor explicitly declines to warrant the representativeness or accuracy of study results
- Security certifications are claimed in three different wordings across the site, with no certificate number or certifying body published
- The trust centre is rendered client-side and cannot be read without a browser, so the evidence behind those claims is hard to check
- There is no mobile application, and API access is granted only on request
Pricing & Plans
Conveo publishes no pricing. The site has no pricing page, none appears among the 579 URLs of its sitemap, and every route to the product goes through a demo request. No permanent free plan and no free trial are advertised, and the site does not state that either is unavailable. The contractual terms indicate annual or multi-annual billing cycles with automatic renewal, cancellation to be requested at least 90 days before the renewal date, non-refundable fees and late interest of 1.5% per month. The product documentation describes the billing mechanics without disclosing the rate: customers buy credits denominated in USD, most analysis is billed at a single base rate per interview minute, and some advanced video-analysis capabilities add an uplift on that base rate, namely 33% each for UX & Screen Interaction, Cooking Analysis and Laundry Analysis and 40% for Video Resonance, with uplifts cumulating on the same interview. Balances are topped up through Stripe for self-serve organisations or by invoice otherwise. Participant recruitment is billed separately from the platform: through the Respondent.io integration the site quotes roughly USD 6 per participant in recruitment fees plus about USD 1 per interview minute in incentives, around USD 21 for a fifteen-minute interview. Those recruitment figures are not the entry price of the platform licence, which remains undisclosed.
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Conveo handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is documented in concrete terms. A data processing addendum is published at conveo.ai/dpa, effective 21 January 2026, version 1.0.0, and takes effect without signature. It names the contracting entity by customer region, cites Regulation 2016/679 together with the Belgian law of 30 July 2018, and sets the customer as controller and Conveo as processor, with a limited controller role for Conveo during participant data collection. Sub-processors are covered by a general authorisation, a published list, thirty days' notice before any change and a ten-day right to object. Transfers outside the EEA rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses, incorporated by reference under Belgian law and forum, and the addendum states a preference for processing within the EEA where feasible. A data protection officer is named, and rights are exercised at privacy@conveo.ai.
Who owns the data?
The terms of service state plainly that the customer owns its Customer Content and the Results generated from it, while Conveo and its licensors retain all rights in the Conveo Materials, meaning the software, documentation and APIs. The customer grants Conveo a non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, transmit and display that content, but only to provide and support the service and as further permitted by the data processing addendum. Conveo may build aggregated or de-identified datasets from platform usage for legitimate business purposes, on condition that they identify neither the customer nor any individual. Under the addendum the customer acts as controller and Conveo as processor, except during participant data collection, where Conveo takes a limited controller role.
Reuse rights
Reuse of study outputs is permitted but bounded. Because the customer owns its content and results, it can exploit them internally without asking Conveo for permission, and the terms allow the aggregated or de-identified data Conveo itself derives only where no customer or individual can be identified. Participant Data, however, carries explicit restrictions: it may be used for internal research and insight generation only, must never be published in a way that identifies a participant, must not be re-identified once anonymised, and must not be retained longer than the permitted purpose requires. Customers must also apply reasonable security measures and notify Conveo within 72 hours of any suspected unauthorised access. Additional restrictions written into participant consent forms apply on top of these rules. On the vendor's side, the commitment is unconditional: Conveo states it does not use Customer Content or Results to train foundation models or improve models for other customers, and describes enterprise licences with OpenAI and Google that isolate data by default.

Hosting summary
The privacy policy states that Conveo is headquartered in Belgium and that its data, personal and company alike, is hosted in Europe, with appropriate safeguards in place. The data processing addendum goes further on jurisdiction: transfers are limited to what the services require, and the supplier states a preference for processing within the EEA where feasible. Where a sub-processor sits outside the EEA, or accesses data from a third country, Conveo undertakes to apply a valid Chapter V transfer mechanism plus supplementary measures, with the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated by reference and Belgian law and forum governing them. The product FAQ adds that infrastructure runs on Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and that enterprise clients can obtain fully isolated deployments with dedicated language models on Azure. No specific country or data centre location is named, so the commitment stays at regional level. Note that the compliance credentials of Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure belong to those hosting providers, not to Conveo.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Conveo.
- Security certifications are claimed three different ways on the same site: ISO 27701 and ISO 27001 badges on the homepage, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 compliant in the product FAQ, and merely an information security programme aligned with recognised frameworks in the data processing addendum. No certificate number or certifying body is published, and the trust centre is rendered client-side, so none of it can be verified from the site alone.
- The registered office appears in three spellings: the addendum writes Frankrijklei 5 bus 151/18, the Belgian company register records box 15.08 since 23 December 2024, and the privacy policy gives no box number at all. Check which entity and address your contract actually names.
- Three separate legal entities contract depending on your region, namely the Belgian BV, a UK limited company and a Delaware LLC. Your counterparty, and therefore your governing law and forum, changes with your location even though the default terms are Belgian.
- The only monetary figures on the site are participant recruitment costs, around USD 6 per participant plus about USD 1 per interview minute. They are not the platform price and should never be read as an entry ticket.
- Customer proof points are impossible to verify independently: named brands, a claim of 400+ enterprise teams, and participant statistics such as 89% comfort, 68% greater openness and 94% positive experience all come from the vendor's own studies.
- Several advertised methods are not available yet. Conjoint, Kano and Turf, and Gabor-Granger and Van Westendorp pricing research, are labelled coming soon, so confirm availability before planning a study around them.
- Delegating moderation to an AI shifts a real skill out of the team. The vendor itself recommends human oversight, warns that no AI is fully predictable despite its hallucination filters and bias detection, and declines to guarantee representativeness, so treat outputs as material to interpret rather than conclusions to adopt.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low once access is granted. Conveo is a web application with nothing to install, guided by a study assistant explicitly designed for people who are not research specialists, and backed by full public documentation plus hands-on support from the vendor's research team. Single sign-on and granular access controls cover organisation-wide rollout. The real friction is commercial rather than technical: there is no self-service signup, so the first study waits on a demo and a contract. Technical teams can additionally use the API, granted on request, and the OAuth-secured remote MCP server.

Should you pick Conveo?
Conveo is a serious, methodology-led entrant in AI-moderated qualitative research, and its strongest argument is not speed but accumulation. Where most tools deliver a study and stop, Conveo is designed so that each interview enriches a knowledge layer the whole organisation can query afterwards, which directly attacks the duplicated research budgets it describes in its own sales narrative. The breadth of methods, the multimodal capture of what people say, show and do, and the presence of a named research team give the product a credibility that a purely technical AI interviewer would struggle to claim.
The reservations are commercial and evidential rather than functional. Nothing is priced publicly, the sitemap confirms there is no pricing page at all, and the only figures on the site are participant recruitment costs that must not be mistaken for a licence fee. Commitment is long, cancellation requires ninety days' notice, fees are non-refundable and liability is capped at the lesser of twelve months of fees or EUR 10,000. The vendor also declines to guarantee the representativeness or accuracy of results, which places the interpretive risk squarely on the buyer.
On data protection the documentation is genuinely above average: a public and detailed addendum, an unconditional no-training clause, European hosting and a named data protection officer. Security certifications are the weak point, claimed in three different wordings across the site, from certified badges to merely aligned with recognised frameworks, with no certificate number or certifying body published and a trust centre that cannot be read without a browser.
For a large consumer brand with a continuous research programme and the appetite for an annual contract, Conveo is worth a serious evaluation. For anyone smaller, or anyone needing a published price before starting a conversation, it is not currently accessible.
