Overview

What is Momentum?

Momentum is an AI revenue orchestration platform built for B2B go-to-market teams. Its premise is that the most valuable information a company owns is trapped in conversations nobody has time to write up, and that the remedy is not another dashboard but a pipeline: capture the unstructured content of every call, email and message, turn it into structured records, then push those records into the systems where work actually happens. The vendor insists on the distinction, describing itself as a structured data provider rather than a summariser. In practice the platform runs as a set of named agents. The Deal Execution Agent handles post-call admin, writing summaries, action items and CRM values back into Salesforce, including MEDDIC and MEDDPIC qualification fields, with claimed support for 98% of CRM field types. The Customer Retention Agent watches for churn risk, sentiment shifts, closed-lost reasons and upsell openings, then triggers workflows to act on them. The AI CRO agent produces executive briefs, pipeline forecasting and win/loss analysis. The Coaching Agent scores individual calls, tracks competencies and feeds team performance reports. Retropilot works backwards, mining historical recordings to fill in fields that were never completed at the time. Slack is the default interface: deal rooms and account rooms are created automatically, alerts and approval buttons live there, and Microsoft Teams receives summaries and signals. A no-code workflow builder lets operations teams define triggers, conditions and actions, and structured output can be piped onward into Snowflake or BigQuery. For the reasoning itself the vendor names OpenAI GPT-4 and GPT-4o, Claude, Cohere and Gemini, each assigned to different kinds of task. Call recording, transcription, the video library and SmartClips highlight reels are not part of the base product; they sit in a paid Conversation Intelligence add-on. The platform is web-based with a documented public API, sold on annual per-seat plans through a sales conversation rather than self-service signup. Momentum has since announced that it is joining Salesforce, which leaves the long-term shape of the standalone product an open question.

What it does

  • Extract structured CRM values from every customer call and write them to Salesforce in real time
  • Backfill historical Salesforce records from past call recordings with Retropilot
  • Open Slack deal rooms and account rooms automatically and route key moments to the right people
  • Raise churn, upsell and deal-risk signals as conversations happen
  • Score every call and deliver automated sales coaching and competency reviews
  • Produce executive briefs, IQ reports and closed lost/won analysis for leadership
  • Pipe structured go-to-market data into Snowflake or BigQuery for analysis

When to use Momentum / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Momentum is the right fit.

When to use Momentum

  • RevOps and sales operations teams losing the battle for Salesforce data hygiene
  • Mid-market and enterprise B2B sales teams that already run their day inside Slack
  • Customer success leaders who need churn and upsell signals pulled straight from calls
  • Sales managers and enablement teams who want every call scored and coached automatically
  • CROs and revenue leaders who want executive briefs and pipeline analysis without chasing reps

When not to use Momentum

  • Teams whose CRM is not Salesforce, the only real-time read/write integration the vendor names
  • Solo sellers, freelancers and very small teams, since pricing is per seat on annual plans
  • Buyers who want to sign up and test on their own, as every route runs through a sales conversation
  • Organisations needing a free entry point: the cheapest published plan is USD 69 per user per month
  • Companies that require European data residency or a mobile app, neither of which is offered

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Published, figure-by-figure pricing for two of three tiers, still uncommon in this segment
  • Unusually detailed feature comparison table, so you can see exactly what each tier buys
  • Deep real-time Salesforce read/write coverage rather than a one-way sync
  • Slack-native by design, which avoids adding yet another interface for reps to ignore
  • Strong published security posture: SOC 2 Type 2 audited April 2025, Vanta trust centre, penetration testing
  • Exemplary vendor transparency: public sub-processor list with locations, public DPA, right to object
  • Documented public API and product documentation, plus many named customer references

Cons

  • No free plan and no clearly advertised free trial; pilots must be negotiated with sales
  • No self-service signup, so evaluation depends on a sales cycle
  • Heavy dependence on Salesforce as CRM and Slack as interface; no other CRM is named
  • Call recording and transcription sit behind a USD 30 per user per month add-on
  • Single sign-on is reserved for the Enterprise tier, and minimum thresholds may apply
  • Hosting is on Google Cloud in the United States with no documented data residency option
  • The vendor never states whether customer conversations are used to train AI models

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Momentum handles your data.

GDPR overview

Momentum claims GDPR compliance explicitly, badging it on the homepage and describing it as privacy by design. The commitments behind the badge are concrete rather than decorative: a public Data Processing Addendum incorporated into the customer agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses for restricted transfers involving the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, a published sub-processor list naming each vendor with its location and purpose, advance notice of new sub-processors with a right to object, and copies of sub-processor agreements on request. Access, transfer and deletion requests go to legal@momentum.io. CCPA and CalOPPA are addressed alongside. Two gaps are worth noting: no Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer is named anywhere on the site, and the privacy policy has carried the same effective date since November 2023. Momentum also states that it does not honour Do Not Track signals.

Who owns the data?

Momentum's terms place ownership squarely with the customer: you warrant that you own all rights, title and interest in your Customer Data. In exchange you grant Momentum Labs, Inc., its affiliates, successors and assigns a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to copy, store, display, modify and otherwise use that data for the term of the agreement, in order to operate the service. Usage statistics derived from your activity belong to Momentum and may be used for any lawful purpose under its privacy policy. Feedback and suggestions you send are treated as non-confidential and freely exploitable. For data concerning your own end users, Momentum acts as a processor on your documented instructions.

Reuse rights

You keep practical freedom over your own material. The terms explicitly carve Customer Data out of the reuse restrictions that protect Momentum's own content, so you may export, reuse and redistribute what you put in without asking permission, and after termination you can request access for download or export for thirty days. What the vendor does on its side is broader than the product itself: the privacy policy permits personal data to be used for research, benchmarking and service improvement, for direct marketing and for interest-based advertising, to be enriched from third-party data providers and publicly available sources, and to be disclosed to affiliates, professional advisers, channel partners, advertising partners and any acquirer of the business. Aggregated, anonymised statistics may be shared with third parties for Momentum's own commercial purposes. One question the documents never answer is whether customer conversations are used to train AI models.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Momentum keeps backups of customer data for a standard retention period that its terms cap at thirty days after the end of the applicable order form. If you terminate, you can ask for access to download or export your data for thirty days, after which it is deleted. Personal information about website visitors and customers is kept only as long as needed for the purposes set out in the privacy policy, to meet legal obligations and to resolve disputes; deletion requests go to legal@momentum.io and are honoured unless an exception applies. For compliance-sensitive customers the vendor offers a zero-retention mode for OpenAI usage and custom retention policies. Note the tension: the homepage badge claims data is never stored, while the contract allows thirty days of backups.

Hosting summary

The entire platform runs on Google Cloud Platform managed services, which the published sub-processor list locates in the United States for data storage, processing and related services. Momentum operates inside a private VPC on a zero-trust model, reaching systems through Google's Identity-Aware Proxy, and its databases are Cloud SQL and Cloud Memorystore accessed via an IAP bastion and the Cloud SQL Auth proxy. Data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 under keys managed by Google, and in transit over enforced HTTPS with TLS 1.3. Daily backups run alongside continuous point-in-time recovery. Most sub-processors are American: Datadog, OpenAI, Pendo, Pinecone, Recall.ai and Salesforce. The single exception is Gladia SAS in France, which handles transcription for part of the AI services, and the company also declares a Canadian subsidiary. No European hosting region and no data residency option are documented anywhere, so buyers with EU residency requirements should raise the point before contracting.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Momentum.

  • Momentum is joining Salesforce: confirm the roadmap, pricing commitment and continuity of the standalone product before signing a long agreement
  • The vendor never states whether customer conversations are used to train AI models, and the documented zero-retention mode covers OpenAI usage and retention, not training
  • Recording every conversation shifts the consent burden onto you: participants must be informed, and rules differ sharply between jurisdictions and even between US states
  • A marketing badge promises that data is never stored, while the terms allow backups for up to thirty days after the contract ends; read the contract, not the badge
  • Automated call scoring applied to people invites misuse as a performance-management tool; scores measure what the model can hear, not what the seller achieved
  • Delegating note-taking and CRM entry erodes the recall and listening discipline that come from writing things down yourself, and reps may stop reviewing what the AI asserts
  • The privacy policy permits enrichment from third-party data brokers and sharing with advertising partners, and the site does not honour Do Not Track signals
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Moderate, and organisational rather than technical. Nothing is installed: you connect Salesforce through API-level authentication within the permissions you grant, add the app to Slack or Teams, and build rules in a no-code workflow builder. The vendor promises no retraining and no change management. The real work is a RevOps project: mapping which Salesforce fields should be populated, designing the workflows, and governing call-recording consent. Documentation covers installation, onboarding, permissions and API access, and Enterprise buyers get white-glove onboarding, with professional services available as a paid add-on.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does Momentum do?
It captures what is said in customer calls, emails and messages, converts it into structured records, writes those records into Salesforce in real time, and routes the resulting signals and workflows into Slack so that teams act on them rather than merely reading them.
Which CRM and messaging tools does it work with?
Salesforce is the primary CRM integration, with real-time read and write access. Slack is the default interface for deal rooms, alerts and approvals, and Microsoft Teams receives summaries and signals. Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, Gong, Chorus, Clari, Salesloft, Outreach, Snowflake and BigQuery are among the other named connections.
How much does Momentum cost?
Business costs USD 69 per user per month and Transformation USD 99 per user per month, both on annual plans, while Enterprise is quoted on request. The Conversation Intelligence add-on adds USD 30 per user per month. Discounts are offered for teams of fifty or more.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
No. All three published tiers are paid, and the vendor never uses the words free trial. Its pricing FAQ offers custom pilots and startup offers arranged with the sales team instead, so evaluation goes through a commercial conversation.
Does Momentum record and transcribe calls?
Yes, but only with the Conversation Intelligence add-on. Once enabled, a bot can join Zoom, Google Meet or Teams calls to record, transcribe and summarise them, and the recordings are kept in a searchable video library with clips and playlists.
What security and compliance certifications does it hold?
Momentum completed a SOC 2 Type 2 audit in April 2025 with an independent auditor, and reports are available through its Vanta trust centre. The site also displays GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, single sign-on and zero-retention badges, and describes regular external penetration testing.
Where is the data hosted and for how long?
The whole platform runs on Google Cloud Platform managed services, listed as located in the United States. The terms state that backups are kept no longer than thirty days after the end of the order form, and that after termination data can be exported for thirty days before deletion.
Does Momentum offer an API?
Yes. Public documentation is hosted at docs.momentum.io and includes an API reference along with pages on API access, installation, user roles and permissions.
Who is behind Momentum?
Momentum Labs, Inc., based in San Francisco, with a Canadian subsidiary and a team spread across the United States, Canada, India and Argentina. The site now carries a banner announcing that Momentum is joining Salesforce.
Does Momentum replace Gong or Clari?
Both patterns exist according to the vendor's own FAQ: some customers run Momentum alongside Gong and Clari, others replace them, and Momentum frequently positions itself as the orchestration layer sitting across several tools.
Conclusion

Should you pick Momentum?

Momentum is a serious, well documented product on a crowded segment, and it earns credit where many rivals do not: two of its three tiers carry published prices, its feature comparison table is unusually specific, its sub-processor list names every vendor with a location and a purpose, its Data Processing Addendum is public, and its SOC 2 Type 2 audit is dated and attributed. That combination makes it easy to evaluate honestly, which is itself a signal. The fit is narrow but deep. If your revenue team already lives in Salesforce and Slack, and your real problem is that reps never fill in the CRM, Momentum addresses precisely that gap and does so at the point where the information is generated rather than after the fact. If your CRM is anything else, most of the value disappears. The reservations are commercial and evidentiary rather than technical. There is no free plan, no advertised free trial and no self-service signup, so evaluation costs a sales cycle before it costs money. Call recording and transcription, which many buyers will assume are core, are a paid add-on. Hosting is on Google Cloud in the United States with no documented residency option, and the vendor never states whether customer conversations are used to train models, a question worth asking in writing. The marketing badge promising that data is never stored also sits awkwardly beside terms that allow thirty days of backups. The largest unknown is corporate rather than technical: Momentum has announced that it is joining Salesforce, and its partner programme page has already been withdrawn. Buyers should confirm the roadmap, the pricing commitment and the continuity of the standalone offering before signing a multi-year agreement.
