Dallmeier Video Analytics
Dallmeier Video Analytics is a family of AI apps that run directly on the camera rather than on a server. They count crowds, guard perimeters and filter people by clothing colour, with neural networks trained in-house by the German manufacturer.
What is Dallmeier Video Analytics?
Dallmeier Video Analytics is the artificial-intelligence layer of a German video security manufacturer rather than a standalone software product. The brand goes back to 1984, when Dieter Dallmeier started out in a garden shed in Regensburg; the company today employs several hundred people worldwide, more than 250 at that same Bavarian headquarters, and designs, develops and manufactures its cameras, recorders and software in Germany. The distinguishing choice is where the intelligence sits. The AI applications run directly on the camera at the edge, delivering real-time analytics without relying on an external server. Four apps make up the range. The AI High Res. Counting App handles counting when the number of objects is large. The AI Perimeter App Package combines two networks trained specifically for perimeter protection and is pitched at cutting false alarms. The AI Person Attributes App determines the dominant hue of a person's upper and lower clothing and, in good conditions, whether they wear headgear or carry a bag or backpack; it deliberately ignores arms, legs and faces, a reduction the vendor presents as a guard against discriminatory misuse. The AI Essential App Package covers loitering, intrusion and counting. Equally unusual is the training claim. Dallmeier states that it trains its neural networks on its own dedicated test site under real-world conditions, and that it creates and controls that data in-house rather than drawing on datasets of unknown origin. The apps need compatible hardware: Domera RDF6400DN, RDF6800DN and SDF6800DN cameras, or Panomera S, W and V series 4 and 8 systems supporting AI Analytics. Panomera is the company's patented multifocal-sensor technology, patented in 2011; the 66-megapixel S8 Stadium covers 10,000 seats from a single position using eight lenses, eight sensors and eight AI chips, while the V8 Area links the neural networks of those eight chips to analyse a continuous 180-degree scene without blind spots. Results are exploited in SeMSy Compact, whose SmartFinder returns thumbnail matches, in the Hemisphere platform for larger estates, and in a free SeMSy Mobile Client for Android and iOS. Deployments span airports, casinos, industry, logistics, safe cities, stadiums and critical infrastructure; St. Louis Airport is cited as covering its area with 90 percent fewer cameras.
What it does
- Count people and objects reliably even in dense crowds
- Protect a perimeter with two dedicated networks and fewer false alarms
- Find a person again by clothing colour, headgear or bag
- Trigger loitering, intrusion and line-crossing alerts
- Pixelate people automatically, including those standing still
- Push real-time alerts to a phone from AI event triggers
- Feed analysis data into dashboards and third-party security platforms
When to use Dallmeier Video Analytics / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Dallmeier Video Analytics is the right fit.
When to use Dallmeier Video Analytics
- Stadium and arena operators who must watch every seat, concourse and turnstile without multiplying camera positions
- Airport, casino and critical-infrastructure security managers covering very large areas under strict compliance rules
- Public-safety and city authorities running safe-city schemes where footage must stay under local control
- Industrial, logistics and retail sites that need counting, intrusion and loitering detection at the edge
- System integrators who already run Milestone XProtect or Genetec Security Center and want ONVIF or API-level access
When not to use Dallmeier Video Analytics
- Buyers who want to sign up online: there is no public price, no store and no self-service trial anywhere on the site
- Anyone hoping to run the analytics on existing third-party cameras, since the AI apps need compatible Domera or Panomera hardware
- Teams looking for a cloud SaaS product, as the analysis and the recordings stay on the customer's own equipment
- Small organisations without an installer or channel partner to plan, commission and maintain the system
- Users who need reliable results in very poor light, low contrast or heavy occlusion, which the vendor itself flags as degraded conditions
How to use Dallmeier Video Analytics
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Scope the project with Dallmeier or a channel partner, since there is no online sign-up
- Select cameras that support AI Analytics: Domera RDF6400DN, RDF6800DN, SDF6800DN, or Panomera S, W or V series 4 and 8
- Use the Planning services, including the PlanD 3D camera design tool, to position the systems
- Enter the free licence code on the camera to activate the AI Person Attributes App
- Install the associated neural network on the camera after licensing
- Set the analysis interval to suit the scene, shorter for small scenes with fast-moving people
- Let the resulting data packets travel with the video stream to the Dallmeier recording system
- Search the recordings in SeMSy Compact using SmartFinder, then click a preview image to open the sequence
- Run the app alongside the AI Essential apps such as Line Crossing or Intrusion Detection if needed
- Add cameras to the free mobile client by QR code, assign them to a site and invite colleagues by link with revocable roles
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Analysis happens on the camera, so no footage has to reach a cloud or a dedicated AI server
- Training data is created and controlled in-house on the company's own test site, which few vendors disclose
- ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 certificates are nominative to the editor, with numbers, body and validity dates published
- Designed and manufactured in Germany with a controlled value chain and NDAA compliance
- Fewer cameras for the same coverage: 90 percent fewer at St. Louis Airport, 10,000 seats from one S8 Stadium
- The SeMSy Mobile Client is free on iOS and Android with an interface in five languages
- Genuinely open to third parties through ONVIF, RTSP and documented Milestone and Genetec integrations
Cons
- No public price at all: no pricing page, no amount and no currency anywhere across 502 sitemap URLs
- The AI apps only exist on compatible Dallmeier cameras, so there is a hard hardware dependency
- No free trial and no self-service path; every route runs through a project form or a partner
- SmartFinder on person attributes was not yet available on Hemisphere SeMSy at the time of review
- Results degrade in low light, low contrast or when people are heavily obscured, as the vendor states
- API3 documentation sits behind an email form rather than being published openly
- Nothing is published about whether customer footage may be used for model training
Pricing & Plans
No price is published. There is no pricing page on the site, and none of the 502 URLs in the sitemap, nor the llms.txt index, points to one; requests for /pricing return the same error page as a deliberately invented address. The United States conditions of trade confirm that amounts exist but live in a current pricelist that is not made public, quoted in USD and ex works. Purchasing therefore runs through a project enquiry or a channel partner. Two elements are genuinely free and permanent: the SeMSy Mobile Client, listed at 0.00 on the App Store, and the licence code that activates the AI Person Attributes App. Both still assume compatible Dallmeier hardware has been bought.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Dallmeier Video Analytics handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is claimed in plain terms: the company describes its systems as a GDPR and NDAA compliant video surveillance system and invokes the GDPR principle of Security and Privacy by Design across a value chain it controls end to end. Concrete mentions exist rather than slogans. The privacy policy names the controller and an external data protection officer, sets out access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection rights, and cites the Bavarian supervisory authority. On the product side, SeMSy Compact offers AI Pixelation that blurs people even when they are not moving. Certification is nominative: ISO/IEC 27001:2022 issued by TÜV SÜD, certificate 12 310 67686 TMS, valid to 4 June 2027, in the editor's own name and at its registered address. A No Backdoors policy with third-party penetration testing and a published PSIRT complete the picture.
Who owns the data?
The controller named for the website and the mobile app is Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG, Bahnhofstr. 16, 93047 Regensburg, Germany, with an external data protection officer, Christian Volkmer of Projekt 29 GmbH & Co.KG in the same city. For the product itself the picture is unusual among AI tools: video is analysed inside the camera and recorded on the customer's own Dallmeier system, so the operator keeps the footage rather than the vendor. Live mobile access travels end-to-end encrypted through the Dallmeier Connect Service, which the vendor states neither edits nor buffers the streams in transit. Website analytics are a separate matter and involve third parties such as Microsoft Clarity.
Reuse rights
Because the recordings sit on equipment the customer owns and operates, the operator is free to review, export and act on its own footage under the applicable surveillance law, without asking the vendor for permission. Dallmeier does not publish any claim over customer video. What the privacy policy does describe is narrower: personal data collected through the website and the mobile app, processed to perform the contract or under legitimate interest, with Article 28 processing agreements signed between Dallmeier and its own suppliers. Those agreements protect Dallmeier's supply chain; they are not a data processing agreement offered to customers, and none is published. Nothing on the site states whether customer footage may or may not feed model training.

Hosting summary
Hosting is largely a non-question for the product itself, and that is the point of the architecture. The AI runs inside the camera and the video is recorded on the customer's own Dallmeier system, so there is no vendor-side repository of customer footage and no hosting jurisdiction to declare. Dallmeier names no hosting country anywhere for the product; the privacy policy says only that personal data it does process is handled within a data centre, protected by firewalls, virus protection, backup and recovery procedures and role-based authorisation, with SSL over HTTPS in transit. Mobile access adds one moving part: the Dallmeier Connect Service relays live and recorded video end-to-end encrypted, and the vendor states the streams are neither edited nor buffered along the way. Two things should not be confused with product hosting. The public website resolves to a server in Regensburg, Germany, operated by a regional carrier, and the site's Microsoft Clarity analytics are stored on Microsoft Azure servers in the United States. Both concern the marketing site, not the surveillance data.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Dallmeier Video Analytics.
- The directory slug originally proposed, referring to a Stadium AI product, describes something that does not exist: Stadium is a market vertical and the AI is a separate product family
- The brand dates itself to 1984, but the legal entity behind it was only registered on 18 August 2003, so any claim of company age needs care
- Three legal entities share the name: the operating KG, its general partner Dallmeier GmbH, and Dallmeier electronic USA, Inc. in Las Vegas, each with its own registration and its own terms
- Person-attribute analytics filter human beings by clothing colour and accessories; the vendor limits the fields deliberately, but the technique still invites misuse if governance is weak
- Nothing is published on whether customer footage may be used to train models, so this must be settled contractually rather than assumed
- The Article 28 agreements cited in the privacy policy are ones Dallmeier signed with its own suppliers, not a data processing agreement offered to customers
- The legal notice carries a last-updated date of 1 October 2008, so contractual details drawn from it should be reconfirmed
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
This is an integration project, not a sign-up. Dallmeier sells consulting, planning including a 3D camera design tool, factory acceptance, project services and training around it, which tells you the expected effort. The lightest path is genuinely light: a camera with edge recording plus the free mobile client, added by QR code. Activating the AI means entering a free licence code on the camera, installing the neural network and tuning the analysis interval. Connecting to a third-party system is easy over ONVIF or RTSP, and considerably heavier over the C++ API3 libraries.

Should you pick Dallmeier Video Analytics?
Dallmeier Video Analytics is best understood as the AI layer of a hardware company, not as a piece of software you can buy on its own. That framing explains both its strengths and its limits. Because the neural networks run inside the camera, footage does not have to be shipped to a cloud service to be useful, which matters a great deal to the airports, stadiums, casinos and critical-infrastructure operators the company sells to. The claim that training data is produced and controlled on the company's own test site is unusual and, if taken at face value, addresses a question most vendors leave unanswered. The certifications back the seriousness of the operation: ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 are issued to the editor by name, with numbers and validity dates, rather than borrowed from a hosting provider. The trade-offs are equally clear. The analytics are inseparable from Dallmeier cameras, so adopting them means adopting a hardware estate. There is no published price of any kind, no trial and no self-service route, which makes independent comparison difficult and puts every prospect through a sales conversation. Some capability is still in progress, notably person-attribute search on the larger Hemisphere platform. And while the company is explicit about where its training data comes from, it says nothing about whether customer footage might feed future models. For an organisation with a real surveillance mandate, an integrator to lean on and compliance pressure that makes on-premise processing attractive, this is a credible and well-documented option from a manufacturer that has been in the field since 1984. For anyone expecting to evaluate a tool by signing up and trying it, it is the wrong shape of product entirely.
