Endex
Endex is an Excel-native AI agent from US publisher Edvise Inc., built for enterprise finance. It works inside the workbook to speed up financial modeling and data analysis, with access granted by sales demo or waitlist only.
What is Endex?
Endex is an Excel-native AI agent aimed at enterprise finance, published by Edvise Inc. (d/b/a Endex), a US company whose site first appeared online in November 2023. It runs inside the workbook rather than beside it, accelerating financial modeling and data analysis, and the homepage announces a $14M round led by the OpenAI Startup Fund. Instead of a general assistant, Endex describes purpose-built language models trained to read financial documents, detailed accounting methods, sources that contradict each other and complex financial charts. Every output carries inline citations back to its source, and the site claims work that is auditable from start to finish, with internal files, external data and trusted sources pulled into a single queryable plan. Nine capabilities are put forward: reference tracing, sheet navigation, firm templates, formatting shortcuts, Deep Research, memories, LLM integrations, undo and PDF-to-table conversion. Distribution runs through a Microsoft Excel add-in listed on Microsoft AppSource, plus a web platform at app.endex.ai. Deployments are claimed at investment banks, private equity funds above $100B in assets, multi-strategy hedge funds, listed real estate developers and Fortune 500 finance teams. Security claims include SOC 2, ISO 27001, AES-256 encryption, private cloud and optional VPC deployment. Access is by demo request or waitlist: there is no open sign-up and no published pricing.
What it does
- Build and update financial models directly inside an Excel workbook
- Trace cell references from end to end across complex workbooks, with AI labeling
- Jump straight to a cited cell or range from an inline citation
- Turn a PDF β financial statements, pitch deck, research note β into a usable table
- Run in-depth research through OpenAI Deep Research while keeping the workbook's context
- Reuse firm templates that repopulate themselves as new inputs arrive
- Undo an unwanted agent edit in a single click
When to use Endex / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Endex is the right fit.
When to use Endex
- Investment banking modeling teams that build three-statement models and DCFs without leaving Excel β one customer describes reaching both in ten minutes
- Private equity funds with $100B+ in assets under management and multi-strategy hedge funds running analysis on their own internal files
- Corporate finance teams at Fortune 500 companies and listed real estate developers whose work already lives in spreadsheets
- Analysts who rekey figures from PDFs β financial statements, pitch decks, research notes β and want that data lifted into tables instead
- Firms with hard security requirements, where zero data retention, VPC deployment, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 decide whether a tool gets approved at all
When not to use Endex
- Individuals and small teams looking for self-serve access: there is no public pricing, no open sign-up, no free plan β only a waitlist and enterprise sales
- Developers wanting to build on top of the product: no public API and no developer documentation are published
- Anyone working outside Microsoft Excel β no Google Sheets or other spreadsheet support is mentioned, and the agent has no purpose away from the workbook
- Mobile-first users: there is no iOS or Android application
- Under-18s, who are excluded by the terms, and non-English speakers, since no other interface language is announced
How to use Endex
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo or contact sales from the site, or join the waitlist β there is no open sign-up
- Agree terms with your organization under a Product Agreement, which is separate from the website terms
- Install the Endex add-in in Microsoft Excel; the site's Download Add-In button leads to the Microsoft AppSource listing
- Sign in through Google or Microsoft SSO where your deployment uses it
- Open the companion web platform at app.endex.ai, which the terms describe as distinct from the marketing site
- Work in your workbook: the agent builds and edits there, cites its sources and lets you jump to the cells it references
- Drop in PDFs β statements, pitch decks, research notes β and convert them into tables instead of rekeying figures
- Set style preferences and recurring workflows once; Endex remembers them from one session to the next
- Undo any change you did not want in a single click
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Works inside Excel, where financial models already live β no switching tools, no export and re-import
- Citations and reference tracing make outputs checkable cell by cell, which matters when a model has to survive review
- Models built specifically for financial documents, detailed accounting methods and conflicting sources
- PDF-to-table conversion removes an expensive layer of manual data entry
- Serious, documented security posture: SOC 2, ISO 27001, AES-256, zero-trust access, audit logs and continuous Vanta monitoring
- No training on customer data by default, zero data retention agreements with model providers, and the option to deploy in a VPC or on the customer's own cloud
- Structured GDPR compliance with EU and UK Article 27 representatives, DPF certification and standard contractual clauses; backed by the OpenAI Startup Fund and a Microsoft partnership
Cons
- No public pricing at all: the cost cannot be estimated without going through sales
- Closed access β a waitlist or a sales demo, with no free trial and no free plan announced
- Entirely dependent on Microsoft Excel; no Google Sheets or LibreOffice support is mentioned
- No public API and no developer documentation
- No mobile application
- No about page and no named team; customer testimonials are anonymous ("Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager") and references are given by segment rather than by name
- The Data sources section names no connector on the retrieved page, and no interface language other than English is announced
Pricing & Plans
Endex publishes no pricing. The pages retrieved contain no pricing page, no amount, no currency and no billing unit, and neither a free plan nor a free trial is mentioned anywhere. The commercial model is enterprise: the site offers Contact Sales and Enterprise links towards its contact form, and a waitlist for everyone else, so any figure has to come out of a sales conversation. The only amounts shown on the site β a $14M funding round, a $100B+ AUM customer segment and the 100 USD liability cap in the website terms β are not prices and should not be read as one.
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Endex handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR implementation is documented in unusual detail. For the EEA and the UK, legal bases are set out article by article: contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), consent for marketing and advertising (Art. 6(1)(a)) and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)). An Article 27 EU representative is appointed, Instant EU GDPR Representative Ltd in Lucan, Co. Dublin (contact Adam Brogden, contact@gdprlocal.com), alongside a UK representative, GDPRLocal Ltd. in Brighton. Endex is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK extension and the Swiss-U.S. DPF, with free independent recourse through JAMS, possible binding arbitration and FTC oversight; EU standard contractual clauses and the UK IDTA cover transfers outside that framework. Rights are exercised at privacy@endex.ai, with a 45-day target response and a right of appeal, and Global Privacy Control signals are honored. This framework describes site data; platform processing sits under the customer's own DPA.
Who owns the data?
Endex draws a firm line between two sets of data. The published privacy policy covers the marketing site only β demo requests, waitlist entries, events, investor relations β where Edvise Inc. acts as controller. Data processed inside the products on behalf of enterprise customers falls outside that policy and is governed instead by the Master Services Agreement, Data Processing Agreement or other written contract signed with each customer, none of which is public. An employee using Endex through their employer is referred to that employer's own notice and customer agreement. On the product side, Endex states that by default customer data is not shared, not used to train AI models, and not accessible to other firms or to third-party AI providers.
Reuse rights
On the site side, Endex uses what it collects to answer demo requests, run marketing and communications, operate and improve the site, produce analytics and personalization, serve advertising, manage events, handle investor relations, meet legal obligations and support any merger or acquisition. Part of that collection is automatic: device type, operating system, browser, screen resolution, identifiers, IP address, internet provider, approximate location, pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and navigation paths. Cookies fall into four families β strictly necessary, analytics (Google Analytics), functional and advertising (LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads, Meta Pixel) β and further data may arrive through Google or Microsoft SSO, social networks, partners and referrals, data enrichment vendors and advertising partners. Site processors cover hosting, email, analytics, advertising, payment (Stripe) and CRM. Endex states it does not sell personal information for monetary consideration, though sharing identifiers with advertising platforms may qualify as a sale or sharing under some US state laws. On the product side, customer data is not used to train models by default and Endex reports zero data retention agreements with its model providers; what a customer may do with its own workbook data is settled by the separate customer agreement, not by the published documents.

Hosting summary
The platform runs on AWS and Azure in a private cloud, and Endex states it can also deploy on a customer's own cloud infrastructure, including inside a VPC. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2/1.3 in transit, behind zero-trust access, least-privilege principles and granular role-based controls. No hosting region or country is published for platform customer data: the site names the providers, not the locations. The only explicit jurisdiction concerns the marketing site, where personal data collected is stored and processed in the United States, with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, standard contractual clauses and the UK IDTA relied on for transfers. Location and retention commitments for customer data belong to the Master Services Agreement and Data Processing Agreement signed with each customer rather than to the public documents.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Endex.
- The published privacy policy does not cover data processed in the platform: that sits under a negotiated Master Services Agreement or Data Processing Agreement which is not public
- The published website terms apply to the marketing site only, not to the Excel add-in or to app.endex.ai, which fall under a separate Product Agreement; those site terms are governed by New York law and cap liability at 100 USD
- The no-training commitment is qualified as applying "by default", which leaves room for a different configuration, and no opt-out setting is documented on the site
- With no published pricing, total cost cannot be assessed before a commercial discussion
- Testimonials are anonymous and customers are cited by segment rather than by name, so none of the references can be verified
- AWS and Azure hosting is announced without a country or region for customer data; only the US location of website data is explicit
- Handing model building over wholesale invites over-reliance β one testimonial describes taking hands off the keyboard while the agent finished a model. Citations make outputs checkable, but only if a human actually checks them
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Technically light, commercially heavy. Installing the Excel add-in is a routine action for an end user, with a listing available on Microsoft AppSource. The real delay is contractual: access requires a demo or waitlist entry and a negotiated Product Agreement. Advanced choices need IT involvement β VPC or customer-cloud deployment, Google or Microsoft SSO, role-based access controls. The site publishes no technical prerequisites and no installation documentation, so scoping happens with the vendor rather than from public documents.

Should you pick Endex?
Endex is a narrowly aimed product: institutional finance that already lives in Excel. Its strengths are concrete β the agent works natively in the workbook, outputs stay traceable through inline citations and reference tracing, the security posture is documented in unusual detail, and the company is backed by the OpenAI Startup Fund and a Microsoft partnership. The reservations are just as clear: pricing is entirely opaque, access runs through a sales demo or a waitlist, and there is no about page, no named team and no named customer reference, only anonymous testimonials. Modeling teams in investment banking, private equity, multi-strategy hedge funds, listed real estate and Fortune 500 finance departments are the audience this was built for, and they are also the ones equipped to absorb an enterprise procurement cycle. Freelancers, small firms and anyone working outside Excel should look elsewhere.
