Conker
Conker is an AI quiz generator built for K12 classrooms. It creates standards-aligned formative assessments in seconds, offers a bank of NGSS and TEKS quizzes, includes read-aloud on every quiz, and exports straight to Google Forms.
What is Conker?
Conker is an AI quiz generator aimed squarely at the K12 classroom. Published by Mote Technologies, Inc., a Delaware company, it turns a topic into a finished formative assessment in a few clicks, and its pitch never strays from that promise: effortless standards-aligned quizzes in a flash. The homepage counts more than 600,000 quizzes created.
The product rests on six capabilities the site puts forward: AI generation, customisation, standards alignment, accommodations, varied question types and integrations. The standards bank is the real differentiator. Conker offers thousands of ready-made K12 assessments mapped to published curricula, with NGSS for science and Texas TEKS named explicitly, so a teacher starts from an aligned quiz rather than an empty page. Accessibility is not an upsell either: read-aloud is built into every Conker quiz, stated without qualification. Teachers can also differentiate a single quiz between groups of learners in one class.
Question formats found in the application include multiple choice, fill in the blank, drag and drop and short answer, alongside multipart questions and reading comprehension items generated from a source text, capped at 1,200 words on the free plan and 5,000 on Pro. Finished quizzes leave the tool easily: they export to Google Forms, where results drop into a gradebook, or are shared directly from Canvas LMS.
Conker is a web product and nothing else. It runs at app.conker.ai, with no mobile app, no browser extension and no public API. The marketing site is deliberately thin, four entries in the menu, and support runs through a help centre and a single email address. Four tiers sit in the catalogue: a permanent free plan, a hidden Basic tier, Pro, and Schools priced on quote with Canvas integration and admin features.
Conker is the AI sibling of Mote, the same publisher's voice messaging tool for Google Classroom, and shares its backend. That lineage shows: the privacy policy is an adapted version of Mote's and still carries a few references back to it.

When to use Conker / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Conker is the right fit.
When to use Conker
- K12 teachers running frequent formative assessments who need them ready in minutes rather than evenings
- Special education teachers and inclusion staff, since read-aloud ships on every quiz at no extra cost
- Schools and districts already on Canvas LMS, which the Schools tier integrates with directly
- Curriculum coordinators and instructional coaches who need assessments mapped to NGSS or TEKS
- Tutors and test-prep coaches in maths, science and reading comprehension who build practice sets from scratch
When not to use Conker
- Developers wanting to embed quiz generation elsewhere: there is no public API and no developer documentation
- Anyone needing a mobile app or a browser extension, as Conker ships only as a web application
- Educators outside the United States who need curriculum alignment, the standards bank covering NGSS and TEKS only
- Non-English-speaking classrooms, since the site and the product are published in English alone
- Procurement teams that require a signed DPA or a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate before they can buy
How to use Conker
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open app.conker.ai from the Try Conker Free or Launch Conker button on any page of the site
- Create an account, or sign in with Google
- Declare whether you are 18 or over, or under 18, as the service asks at sign-in
- Pick a topic and let the AI generate a quiz, or start from the standards-aligned QuizBank

- For reading comprehension, paste a source text within your plan's word limit
- Edit the generated quiz and differentiate it for the groups of learners in your class
- Switch on read-aloud if any of your students need it
- Share the quiz: export it to Google Forms, or push it directly from Canvas LMS
- Collect the responses, then upgrade or request a school quote if you hit the plan limits
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Named curriculum alignment, NGSS and TEKS, which few AI quiz makers offer
- Read-aloud built into every quiz at no extra cost, making accessibility a default rather than an option
- A genuinely usable permanent free plan: five shared quizzes, fifty responses and all question types
- A low paid entry point at USD 5.99 per month, or USD 59.99 per year
- Slots into existing workflows through Google Forms export and Canvas LMS sharing
- Compliance claimed against the texts that matter in education, FERPA, COPPA and GDPR, plus EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification
- Nothing to install and no configuration, with clear commitments on no data selling and no advertising
Cons
- Prices are unreadable on the official pricing page, which renders in JavaScript and shows no amounts
- No public API, no mobile app and no browser extension
- Curriculum alignment covers US K12 standards only, and the interface is English-only
- No DPA published or offered, and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, despite an institutional audience
- The policy never says whether customer data trains AI models, and no opt-out is documented
- A Basic tier exists in the catalogue at USD 3.99 per month but is deliberately hidden from the pricing page
- Freshness signals are weak: the copyright is stuck at 2023 and the legal texts have not changed since February 2023

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Conker handles your data.
GDPR overview
Conker claims compliance in as many words: We are compliant with FERPA, COPPA, GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act, in a privacy policy effective 24 February 2023. The detail runs deeper than the slogan. Legal grounds for processing EEA and UK data are listed one by one, and the six data subject rights are set out, with the caveat that a small fee may be charged for an access request. Requests go to support@conker.ai and are answered within thirty days. Publisher Mote Technologies, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, falls under FTC enforcement, and commits to cooperate with the EU data protection authorities panel and the UK ICO. All subprocessors are said to be GDPR-certified. Two gaps remain: no Article 27 EU representative is designated, and no data protection officer is named.
Who owns the data?
Conker is explicit that it does not own what you put into it: We don't own the content you add to Conker, and the terms confirm the publisher claims no ownership of submissions. The nuance is in the licence attached to them. By submitting content you grant Conker, its affiliated companies and any necessary sublicensees permission to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display and perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat that submission, and to publish your name alongside it, with no compensation. You keep ownership and must warrant you hold the rights; the publisher keeps a broad licence. Site content, logos and software remain the property of Conker or its suppliers.
Reuse rights
Teachers keep the run of their own material: nothing in the terms restricts reusing, editing or redistributing a quiz you built, and quizzes are designed to leave the tool, exported to Google Forms or shared through Canvas LMS. On Conker's side the declared uses are operational: running the site and your account, delivering the service, processing purchases, sending service and marketing messages, and giving access to audio recordings. Conker also tracks which pages users visit and how shared quizzes and forms perform, to measure engagement and steer the product. It collects names, email addresses, billing and card details when you buy, and technical data such as IP address, browser, domain names, access times and referring sites, anonymising IPs where practicable. Billing sits with Chargebee, and payment data may be checked against credit reference agencies to prevent fraudulent purchases. The limits are stated firmly: no selling, renting or leasing of personal data, no advertising inside Conker, no behavioural ad targeting of minors, and only essential and analytics cookies. Whether any of it trains AI models is never addressed.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Conker stores personal data with Amazon Web Services in Oregon, United States, and names no other location: there is no EU region and no choice of jurisdiction. The domain itself resolves to an AWS address in the United States. Billing is handled separately, with contact and payment details held in Chargebee's Level 1 compliant database. Declared protections are the SSL protocol and password protection across all storage systems, encryption for sensitive data such as card numbers in transit, and physical, electronic and procedural measures, with staff trained on the applicable privacy laws. A breach policy is published: Conker commits to assess quickly and, where a breach has occurred or is reasonably likely, to notify the date, the types of data affected, the nature and likely consequences, the steps being taken and a named contact, with parallel notice by email and telephone to a school district where one is involved. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is claimed, and the policy states plainly that no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed secure.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Conker.
- AI-generated questions still need a teacher's eye: an assessment that is fast to produce is not automatically accurate, fair or well pitched
- Leaning on a generator can erode the craft of assessment design, where writing a question is itself an act of teaching
- Standards alignment is claimed by the vendor, not certified by an outside body, so check the mapping before relying on it for reporting
- Submitted content carries a broad licence to copy, edit, translate and republish, sitting alongside the promise not to own it: read both together
- Whether student and teacher content feeds AI training is never stated and no opt-out exists, which weighs more heavily when minors are involved
- Data lives in the United States with no EU hosting option and no published DPA, which schools under GDPR should factor in
- Pricing is invisible on the pricing page and one paid tier is hidden, so confirm what you are buying before committing a budget
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Conker is a pure web tool: nothing to install, no plugin, no server configuration. You create an account at app.conker.ai or sign in with Google, declare whether you are over or under 18, and can generate a first quiz straight away with no prior setup. Eight short tutorials in the Learn section cover the basics. The only step involving anyone technical is Canvas integration, which comes with the Schools tier and is set up on the institution's side. No technical skill is needed for ordinary classroom use.

Should you pick Conker?
Conker does one thing and does not pretend otherwise: it produces formative assessments for K12 classrooms, quickly. Within that scope it has three genuine strengths. Curriculum alignment is named rather than implied, with NGSS and TEKS bank content a teacher can start from. Read-aloud is built into every quiz at no extra charge, which turns accessibility into a default instead of a premium feature. And the entry price is low, with a permanent free plan that is usable enough to evaluate the tool without committing a budget, then Pro at USD 5.99 per month.
The reservations are mostly about transparency rather than capability. The pricing page shows no prices at all, and a Basic tier at USD 3.99 exists in the catalogue while being hidden from that page, so buyers cannot easily see what is on offer. For an institutional audience, the absence of a published DPA and of any SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is a real gap, and the privacy policy's complete silence on whether customer content trains AI models is harder to excuse when the users are minors. Freshness signals are thin too: the copyright still reads 2023 and the legal texts have not moved since February of that year.
Behind the product sits Mote Technologies, an established publisher with a USD 2 million seed round and a second product in the same market, which is reassuring on continuity. For a teacher wanting aligned quizzes without an evening's work, Conker is worth the free plan. For a district signing a contract, the questions above deserve answers first.
