Accio
Accio is Alibaba.com's AI brand, pairing a B2B sourcing engine with Accio Work, a desktop team of agents that research markets, find and negotiate with suppliers, launch online stores, run marketing and automate recurring business tasks.
What is Accio?
Accio is the AI brand of Alibaba.com's international business unit, and it now covers two products under one name. The first is the B2B sourcing engine at accio.com, described in its own privacy policy as an intelligent business-to-business sourcing mentor for product discovery and supplier negotiation. The second is Accio Work, a plug-and-play team of AI agents delivered as a desktop application, built to automate end-to-end business tasks for small and medium companies.
The sourcing side leans on Alibaba's trading data. The site claims twenty-five years of B2B experience across 7,600 product categories, more than 1.5 million verified suppliers, over a billion certified products and two million business users. Its toolkits cover product discovery, supplier matching, hot-selling analysis, new product design, AI-assisted inquiries and business research. The Accio Sourcing Toolkit adds an official Alibaba.com connector, so an agent can chase quotes against a target price and lead time, negotiate, and place the order.
Accio Work is the execution layer. Agents read local files including PDF, Word and Excel, run terminal commands, drive a real Chrome browser through the DevTools Protocol, generate and edit images and call external services. More than a hundred pre-built Skills, certified by Alibaba, cover code review, copywriting, SEO audits, sourcing, store operations and advertising. Connectors reach Gmail, GitHub, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Alibaba.com and Feishu, while agents can answer on Telegram, Discord, DingTalk, WeChat and Lark. The Model Context Protocol is supported for external tool servers.
Models are routed through Accio's own gateway, so no API keys are needed: Gemini, Claude, GPT, Qwen, GLM, Kimi and MiniMax variants are selectable per agent, each with its own credit multiplier. Agents keep persistent memory files, pick up preferences over time and can be grouped into teams whose lead delegates subtasks.
Security is presented as a differentiator: sandboxed execution, a four-level permission model, command allowlists, workspace boundary checks and an audit log. Accio runs on the web, on macOS and Windows desktops, and on iOS and Android.

When to use Accio / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Accio is the right fit.
When to use Accio
- Sourcing and procurement teams that compare suppliers, chase quotes and negotiate prices
- E-commerce sellers and small merchants needing product research, store setup and SEO without a technical team
- Solo founders and small businesses who would rather pay one subscription than assemble a stack of specialised tools
- Alibaba.com buyers, who get an official connector covering inquiries, negotiation and order placement
- Operations and marketing staff who want recurring work — competitor price watches, daily summaries, scheduled posts — to run on its own
When not to use Accio
- Consumers: the terms state that the site and services are not intended for consumers and expect professional use
- Anyone under 18: the privacy policy says the services target adults and no information is knowingly collected from minors
- Developers looking for a public product API, since none is documented and API keys only cover third-party connectors
- Linux users: the desktop client ships for macOS 12 or later and 64-bit Windows 10 or later only
- Teams that need uncapped usage or a signed data processing agreement, as every plan is credit-metered and no DPA is published
How to use Accio
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Open accio.com in a browser, or download the desktop installer for macOS 12 or later, or 64-bit Windows 10 or later
- Create an account with an email address, or sign in with an Alibaba International account; no invite code is needed
- Open Agents in the sidebar and create a first agent from the Daily Assistant template
- Give the agent an identity — name, icon, short description — and pick the model that powers it
- Install plugins from the Plugin Channel, then add specialised skills from the recommended list or through search
- Complete your user profile so the agent learns your role, your industry and how you like to work
- Expand Capabilities, open Connectors and authorise the applications you use, such as Gmail or Alibaba.com
- Send a concrete task in plain language, and approve the sensitive actions the agent requests once, for the session or permanently
- Add a bot on the Channels page if the agent should answer on Telegram, Discord, DingTalk, WeChat or Lark
- Turn repeating work into automations, either by describing the schedule in chat or from the Automations page
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Agents act on files, terminal, browser and external services instead of only answering questions
- An official Alibaba.com connector that chases and negotiates supplier quotes around the clock is hard to find elsewhere
- Access to Gemini, Claude, GPT, Qwen and other models without managing your own API keys
- A permanent free plan of 20 daily credits, plus 500 welcome credits over the first seven days
- More than a hundred ready-made skills, so useful output does not require technical setup
- Sandboxing, a four-level permission model, command allowlists and an audit log for sensitive actions
- An entry price of 19.90 USD per month against a stack of specialised subscriptions
Cons
- No public product API is documented, so Accio cannot be embedded in another product
- The desktop client is limited to macOS and Windows; no Linux build is announced
- Every plan is credit-metered, and premium model use is capped in rolling three-hour windows except on Ultra
- Daily credits do not roll over, and credit top-up packs are reserved for paying subscribers
- Web and desktop history is not fully synchronised, as the help centre itself acknowledges
- No GDPR compliance claim, no published data processing agreement and no Article 27 representative in the European Union
- Models are trained on collected information after aggregation, with no documented opt-out

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Accio handles your data.
GDPR overview
Accio never claims GDPR compliance in so many words. What it publishes is a dedicated European Union and United Kingdom section in its privacy policy of 29 August 2025, giving a legal basis for each purpose — contract performance, legitimate interests, consent — and the expected rights: access and portability, rectification, erasure, objection including to direct marketing, restriction and withdrawal of consent. A data protection officer is named and reachable at dataprotection@accio.com. Subprocessors are disclosed: Alibaba Cloud for hosting, Wispr AI for speech-to-text and DingTalk for instant messaging. International transfers rely on a valid mechanism whose clauses are available on request. Two gaps stand out: no Article 27 representative in the European Union and no published data processing agreement. The Legal Notice separately addresses the Digital Services Act.
Who owns the data?
Two entities appear across Accio's documents. The Legal Notice names ALIBABA.COM GLOBAL E-COMMERCE PTE. LTD., registered in Singapore under number 202326644R, as the operator of accio.com, while the privacy policy and the December 2025 terms name ACCIO GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD. as the contracting party for registered users. Whatever you type, upload or dictate counts as Inputs and is collected as personal information, which may be shared with affiliates, service providers and, with your consent, third parties. A data protection officer answers at dataprotection@accio.com. In Accio Work, tool execution runs on your own machine, and local agent mode keeps orchestration on the device.
Reuse rights
Nothing in the collected documents restricts what you do with the work an agent produces for you, and connector access to services such as Gmail, GitHub or Alibaba.com is granted explicitly and can be revoked at any time, either in Accio or on the third-party platform. On the vendor's side the policy is broader: collected information may be analysed to improve the service, including to train the models that power Accio, after aggregation or de-identification, and no way to opt out of that training is documented. Identifiers and activity data are also disclosed to advertising and analytics providers, which United States privacy laws treat as a sale or sharing, although a Global Privacy Control signal is honoured when detected.

Hosting summary
Accio's privacy policy states that personal information is processed and stored in the United States, Germany, mainland China and/or Singapore. Data may also be transferred to affiliates, service providers and business partners in other jurisdictions under what the policy calls a legally valid transfer mechanism, and a copy of the clauses can be requested from dataprotection@accio.com. The named hosting subprocessor is Alibaba Cloud, operating from Singapore and the United States, alongside Wispr AI in the United States for speech-to-text and DingTalk in mainland China for instant messaging. The public domain resolves to an Akamai node geolocated in Switzerland, which reflects content delivery rather than where records are kept. On the desktop side, Accio Work follows a local-first architecture: file operations, terminal commands and browser actions run on the user's own device, and in local agent mode orchestration also stays on the machine. No hosting region can be chosen by the customer.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Accio.
- Agents can run shell commands and drive a browser, so an over-generous allowlist turns convenience into a real blast radius on your own machine
- Automated negotiation commits you commercially from a prompt written in a hurry: read what the agent is about to send before it sends it
- Collected information is used to train the models behind Accio after aggregation, and no opt-out is documented
- Identifiers and activity data are shared with advertising and analytics providers, which United States law treats as a sale or sharing
- Data may be processed in mainland China as well as Germany, Singapore and the United States, which will not fit every compliance policy
- Two distinct legal entities appear across the Legal Notice, the terms and the privacy policy, so it is not obvious who you are contracting with
- Letting agents research markets, write copy and shortlist suppliers erodes the habit of checking sources and pricing yourself
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Setup is deliberately undemanding. The web version needs nothing more than an account created with an email address or an Alibaba International login. The desktop client is a single installer for macOS 12 or later and 64-bit Windows 10 or later, with no dependencies to add, and the documented first run takes about five minutes across four steps. Instructions are written in plain language rather than commands. The only fiddly parts are creating a bot token when connecting a messaging channel, and deciding which file, shell and browser permissions to grant. Chrome is recommended as the default browser.

Should you pick Accio?
Accio is one of the rare AI agent products that arrives with a genuine data asset behind it. The sourcing engine draws on Alibaba.com's supplier and product catalogue, and the Sourcing Toolkit turns that access into something concrete: an agent that chases quotes, negotiates against a target price and lead time, and places the order. For buyers already working on Alibaba.com, that is a capability competitors cannot easily copy. Accio Work broadens the offer into general execution — files, terminal, browser, images, code — with more than a hundred pre-built skills, five messaging channels and a permission model that asks before doing anything sensitive.
The pricing is deliberately accessible: a permanent free tier, then 19.90 USD per month, with everything metered in credits. That metering is the honest limit of the product, and the help centre says so plainly: value comes from a bigger quota and better models, not from unlimited use.
The reservations are mostly legal and documentary rather than technical. Two different Singapore entities appear across the Legal Notice, the terms and the privacy policy. There is no explicit GDPR compliance claim, no published data processing agreement and no Article 27 representative in the European Union. Collected information feeds model training after aggregation, with no documented opt-out, and data may be processed in mainland China as well as in Germany, Singapore and the United States. None of this is unusual for a large marketplace group, but it matters if your procurement policy is strict.
Judged for what it is — a business execution layer for small companies, sourcing-first and Alibaba-backed — Accio is worth a trial run on the free plan, with a careful look at the permission settings before letting agents touch anything that matters.
