Overview

What is Mark AI?

Mark AI — historically marketed as Mark Copy — is a generative AI content platform published by MARK AI, a French simplified joint-stock company based in Fresnes, near Paris. Two engineers, Kilian Poulin and Selim Chehimi, launched the product in 2021 after several years working on artificial intelligence. Its founding idea is that a generic assistant cannot serve a brand: the AI has to be configured to write in that brand's own voice.

The platform's centrepiece is the AI Studio, where marketing teams assemble business agents without writing code. Each agent rests on four layers: the tools it may call, reference examples drawn from the company's best content, explicit writing rules that replace the brand-guidelines PDF nobody reads, and a memory that improves with every piece of feedback. Mark AI advertises more than twenty-four ready-made agents and documents sector-specific ones for banking and insurance, software, retail and e-commerce, healthcare and industry.

Behind those agents the platform orchestrates several model families — Claude, GPT, Gemini and Mistral — and selects one per use case rather than tying the customer to a single provider. Agents can call Semrush for SEO data, Copyscape for plagiarism checks, translation glossaries and web search, each switched on or off individually. Translation is offered in more than fifty languages with the brand voice preserved, and a large library of generators covers blog posts, product pages, advertising and social media.

Governance is the second selling point. Customer data is hosted in France, personal data is processed inside the European Union, and the publisher states that customer documents, briefs and content are never used to train the models. Single sign-on, granular permissions, legal notices inserted verbatim and a ban on inventing names, figures or studies are part of the product, and web search can be switched off entirely in regulated contexts.

Access is web-only, through app.markcopy.ai. There is no public API and no mobile application, and both commercial plans are reached through a sales conversation rather than an online checkout.

How to use Mark AI

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Book a demo, which the publisher runs in 30 to 45 minutes and to which several team members can be invited
  2. Or open a 7-day free trial from the sign-up page, without entering a credit card
  3. Go through the configuration phase, quoted separately according to how many models must be trained and how complex they are
  4. Describe your brand: writing rules, tone of voice, personas and the guidelines that content must respect
  5. Upload your reference examples so the agent picks up your structure, rhythm and formats
  6. Load your knowledge base so the agent grounds its answers in your own documentation
  7. Assemble each agent by form or by chat in plain language, with no technical skill required
  8. Switch the tools on or off agent by agent: Semrush, Copyscape, translation glossaries, web search
  9. Set up single sign-on, roles and permissions before opening the workspace to the team
  10. Generate, review and collaborate in the shared workspace, then run the plagiarism check before publishing

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Customer data hosted in France and processed inside the European Union — a rare position on this market
  • Explicit commitment that customer documents, briefs and content are never used to train the models
  • Signed DPA and single sign-on, both listed on the publisher's own comparison page
  • Several model families orchestrated by use case instead of a single-vendor dependency
  • Unlimited content generation on both plans, including the entry one

Cons

  • High entry ticket at 750 EUR per month, with no intermediate tier and no permanent free plan
  • No self-service purchase: both plans route the buyer to a sales conversation
  • No public API, no developer documentation and no mobile application
  • Legal documents dated 4 January 2023, older than the agent features they are supposed to cover
  • The new site's legal centre returns "No items found", and much of the 2026 navigation points to dead links
  • No named security certification, despite the phrase "certified security" in the navigation
  • No subprocessor list published, and not a single supported language is ever named despite the 50+ claim

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Mark AI handles your data.

GDPR overview

The publisher is established in France, so the GDPR applies directly and no Article 27 representative is required. The privacy policy, dated 4 January 2023, claims compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the French Loi Informatique et Libertés. It lists concrete rights — access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent and post-mortem instructions — exercised through a form, by post or at contact@markcopy.ai, with a signed identity document required and a one-month reply deadline extendable to two. Complaints to the CNIL are documented, and data breaches are notified within 72 hours. Data is processed inside the European Union as a matter of principle; transfers outside rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, binding corporate rules or certification. A signed DPA is advertised. No security certification is ever named, and no subprocessor list is published.

Who owns the data?

The customer keeps ownership. Under the terms of sale, the models built from the customer's Documentation remain the customer's exclusive property, and Mark AI states it may not use them in any way. The site repeats that customers retain full ownership of every piece of content generated for their brand, and the AI Studio page describes outputs as one hundred percent proprietary. In exchange, by supplying Documentation during the configuration phase, the customer grants MARK AI a non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free right to use that material in order to deliver the service. For personal data, the publisher MARK AI is the controller, not a third party.

Reuse rights

Content generated for a brand belongs to that brand and can be published, edited and reused commercially without asking Mark AI for permission. The publisher's own licence runs the other way: it covers the documents the customer uploads during configuration, and only so that the service can be delivered. Personal data collected through the website is used for order handling, customer communication, testimonials, prospecting, newsletters, site administration and security, analytics and campaign measurement, on the basis of contract performance, consent or legitimate interest. Aggregated, anonymised data may be published and exploited by the publisher for market analysis and promotional purposes. On model training, the AI Studio page states that customer documents, briefs and content are never used to train the AI models — a commitment that appears on a product page rather than in the contract.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is not kept beyond the time needed to perform the contract, except where the publisher must retain it as evidence or to meet a legal obligation. After a contract ends or an account is closed, identity and contact details — name or company name, postal addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers — are kept for three years from the commercial relationship. Browsing data is kept for a maximum of six months, in line with CNIL recommendations, then anonymised and used for statistics only. Data that is not needed to deliver the service is deleted, or anonymised, or stored securely pending deletion. Data breaches are notified within 72 hours. No retention period is published for generated content or for the knowledge bases uploaded to the platform.

Hosting summary

Two hosting layers must not be confused. The customer data layer is described on the AI Studio page as hosted in France, and the homepage, demo page and comparison pages repeat that the platform runs on European servers, presenting the tool as "Made in France" and "Hosted in Europe". The privacy policy adds that personal data is processed inside the European Union as far as possible, and that any transfer outside the EU relies on an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses, binding corporate rules or an approved certification mechanism. Isolation between customers is claimed: no connectivity between the AI instances of different clients. Separately, the marketing website itself is hosted by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, whose French establishment is in Courbevoie and whose registered office is in Luxembourg, as stated in the legal notice. No infrastructure subprocessor is named for the application platform, and no subprocessor list is published.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Mark AI.

  • The free trial converts automatically into a paid subscription at the end of the period unless it is cancelled
  • Subscriptions renew automatically, with 30 days' notice required to terminate the custom Solution
  • Configuration and training are quoted separately, so the advertised price is not the full cost of ownership
  • The pricing table mixes currencies: 750 EUR per month for the Team plan, but "$750/month" for an extra workspace
  • The no-training commitment sits on a marketing page, not in the terms of sale or the privacy policy
  • "Certified security" appears in the navigation while no certification framework is ever named
  • Delegating an entire editorial voice to agents can erode the in-house writing judgement that made the voice worth protecting
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for the end user, moderate for the organisation. No technical skill is required: agents are configured by form or by chat in plain language, and the publisher promises a first agent in production within the week, configured in about thirty minutes with an expert. The real effort sits upstream and around it — the paid configuration phase run by the publisher, gathering writing rules, personas and reference documents, and setting up single sign-on, roles and permissions for a team rollout. Nothing has to be installed or developed: access is through the browser, with no API to integrate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is Mark AI different from ChatGPT or Copilot?
A general-purpose assistant helps one person, with a single model and no knowledge of your brand. Mark AI equips an organisation: business agents shared across the team, writing rules applied to every generation, the best model selected per use case, built-in SEO tools and governance designed for IT and legal review.
Is my data used to train the AI models?
No. The AI Studio page states that customer documents, briefs and content are never used to train the models, and that content stays entirely proprietary. Note that this commitment appears on a product page rather than in the terms of sale or the privacy policy.
Where is the data hosted?
Customer data is hosted in France, and the privacy policy states that personal data is processed inside the European Union as far as possible. Transfers outside the EU rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, binding corporate rules or an approved certification mechanism.
Who owns the content the platform generates?
The customer does. The terms of sale state that models built from customer Documentation remain the customer's exclusive property, and the site confirms that customers retain full ownership of the content created for their brand.
Which AI models does Mark AI use?
Claude, GPT, Gemini and Mistral, selected according to the use case. The publisher says new models are integrated continuously, without any migration work on the customer's side.
What does Mark AI cost, and is there a free plan?
There is no permanent free plan. The Team plan is 750 EUR per month for up to five users, annual billing is announced at 30% off, and the Enterprise plan is quoted on request. A 7-day free trial is available without a credit card, although the terms of sale cap free trials at three months and convert them into a paid subscription unless cancelled.
Do I need technical skills to set it up?
No. Agents are configured by form or by chat in plain language, by the marketing team itself. The publisher handles the initial configuration phase, quoted separately, and provides onboarding, online training and a dedicated customer success manager depending on the plan.
Is there an API or a mobile app, and is there an age limit?
Neither an API nor a mobile application was found on the site: access is through the web platform only. The terms of sale require customers to be 18 or over and define them as professionals, whether individuals or companies.
Conclusion

Should you pick Mark AI?

Mark AI occupies a narrow and coherent position: enterprise content generation where brand consistency and data sovereignty matter more than price. The proposition holds together — business agents configured once and shared by a whole team, several model families orchestrated by use case, SEO and plagiarism tooling built in, and a governance layer with single sign-on, controlled sources and a ban on invented figures. Hosting in France, processing inside the European Union and a signed DPA give buyers in banking, insurance, healthcare and the public sector something concrete to bring to their own compliance reviews. The published client names point in the same direction, towards large regulated organisations rather than individual writers.

The reservations are real and worth weighing. At 750 EUR per month for five users, with no intermediate tier and no self-service checkout, the tool selects its own audience. There is no public API and no mobile application. More importantly, the site is caught mid-rebuild: the newest pages announce Content Factory, Mark Agents and Content Intelligence behind dead links, the legal centre returns nothing at all, and the legal documents still carry a January 2023 date that predates the agent features they are meant to govern. The strongest commercial promise — that customer content is never used to train the models — currently lives on a marketing page rather than in the contract, which is exactly the sort of clause a buyer should ask to see written into the agreement.

For a marketing department that already knows what its editorial voice is and needs to enforce it at scale under European constraints, Mark AI is a serious candidate. For a small team, a technical integrator or anyone hoping to sign up online this afternoon, it is not the right tool.
