Rainbow AI Community is a community and messaging platform built for the LGBTQ+ scene of Tyrol, Austria. It went live on 3 August 2026 as a chat plugin embedded in three association websites, and became a standalone platform on 7 August 2026. Three community spaces sit side by side — HOSI Tirol, Pride Tirol and Fetisch Alpenland — picked out of the operator's personal affinity with those groups. Membership of any of them is not required: one account opens all of them, and a cross-cutting Community room connects the three, with every message labelled with the space it came from.
The AI here is functional rather than decorative. Every message and every image passes through automatic moderation aimed at hate speech, and clear violations are blocked without a human in the loop. A second, opt-in assistant works inside the post composer and the profile bio, with seven actions: improve, spell-check, shorten, rephrase, friendlier tone, translate into English, and suggest a post. A monthly allowance of AI credits comes with the paid Rainbow+ tier.
Privacy controls are unusually granular for a platform this young. Each profile field carries its own visibility setting — everyone, friends, friends+ or nobody — and the sender decides how long sent private messages are stored, from do not store through 7, 30 and 90 days to unlimited. Adult content is confined to the Fetisch Alpenland space behind an age confirmation, and explicit images in private messages need consent on both sides.
Around the chat sit a social feed with posts, edits, likes and comments, events with replies and their own chats, shareable photo albums, a reusable image pool, push notifications, and a gaming corner with a self-hosted voice room, a looking-for-group board and chat mini-games. It ships as an installable web app and as an Android package downloaded straight from the site, in German, English, Italian, Czech, Turkish and French.
The whole thing runs on volunteer time: no ads, no data sales, no investors. The operator publishes the running costs openly — roughly €53 a month of infrastructure, around €200 a month of tools and services, and some 150 volunteer hours a month — covered by donations. GDPR overview
The operator is established in Austria, inside the EU, but the site publishes no legal notice, names no data controller and appoints no Article 27 representative, and it never claims GDPR compliance anywhere. What can be observed are practices consistent with the regulation rather than statements about it. Since 13 August 2026 an automatic clean-up regularly deletes expired private messages, accounts that were never confirmed and orphaned uploads, described in the changelog as automatic GDPR data cleansing. Members set their own retention for sent private messages, from not stored at all to unlimited. There is no permanent chat history apart from reported messages and rule breaches, and an account with its data can be deleted at any time. Who owns the data?
