Overview

What is YouCoach?

YouCoach is a season management platform for football, published by YouCoach S.r.l. of Monselice, near Padua in Italy. Its foundation is YouCoach App, an entirely web-based application that runs in a browser with no installation, doubled by iOS and Android apps that players and staff use in the field. Around that core sit three paid modules that require the App subscription: Video Analysis, Training Load Monitoring and Scout.

The content library is the platform's oldest asset. More than 2,000 professionally built drills are indexed by age group from U4 to the first team, by technical, tactical and athletic theme, and by principle of play, with sessions credited to coaches and clubs such as Mikel Arteta, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich and AFC Ajax. The application layers team management on top: sessions, matches, players, calendar, analytics, dashboards, cycles, goals, principles, custom drills, attendance, drawing and animation editors, game systems, goalkeepers, injuries, anthropometric assessments, evaluation forms, videos, notes, fields, questionnaires, time tracking, reporting, staff permissions and parent access.

YouCoach AI is the assistant that ties this together. It is included in every subscription and metered in credits, 100 on the COACH plan and 250 on COACH PRO. Because it already knows the user's season plan, methodology, squad and calendar, a prompt such as "create a training session for tomorrow at 5pm" produces a dated, populated session rather than a generic template. The same assistant drafts periodisation frameworks, structures a described drill into goals, phases, players and equipment, generates diagrams and animations that stay editable, writes individual development plans and evaluation templates, and interprets sRPE and Hooper data against injury logs and anthropometric measurements to rank readiness.

A learning strand runs alongside the software, with e-books, masterclasses, webinars and a support centre. The site is published in eight languages across eight national domains, and the homepage claims more than 15,000 clubs and coaches. Notably, the site never names the language model behind the assistant.

What it does

  • Generate a full season periodisation plan, with macro and micro cycles, from a written brief
  • Build a complete training session in seconds around scheduled goals, available players and age group
  • Create a drill from a plain description and turn it into a diagram and an animation
  • Search more than 2,000 drills in natural language and drag the result into the session planner
  • Analyse sRPE and Hooper index data to rank player readiness and flag injury risk
  • Draft an individual development plan or a return-to-play protocol, already scheduled in the planner
  • Produce player evaluation templates and assessment forms to a chosen scale

When to use YouCoach / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if YouCoach is the right fit.

When to use YouCoach

  • Individual football coaches who plan and run their own sessions and want the session-building work cut down
  • Clubs and youth academies coordinating several teams, staffs and age groups from U4 to the first team
  • Fitness and strength coaches tracking internal load through sRPE and the Hooper index
  • Technical staff who want to generate periodisation plans, drills and animations from plain-language prompts
  • Scouting departments building a structured database of evaluated players

When not to use YouCoach

  • Coaches of any sport other than football or futsal, as the whole content library and taxonomy are football-only
  • Anyone looking for a permanently free tier, since none is offered and no free trial is advertised
  • Buyers who need month-to-month billing, because the official plans run for twelve months paid upfront
  • Developers expecting a public, documented API, as the REST API sits inside the quoted CLUB plan only
  • Organisations whose procurement requires a signed DPA, a published subprocessor list or a security certification

How to use YouCoach

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create a free account from the registration page, which requires only basic profile details
  2. Choose a plan on the pricing page: COACH, COACH PRO, or request a quote for CLUB
  3. Pay by PayPal, card or bank transfer, with an interest-free three-instalment option offered
  4. Clubs instead request a 30-minute, no-obligation demo before committing
  5. Open the web application in an up-to-date browser; no installation is needed and Chrome is recommended
  6. Set up the season: define cycles, goals and principles of play for each squad
  7. Prompt YouCoach AI to draft the periodisation plan, then individual sessions and drills
  8. Invite staff members, who get free access within the plan's limit but hold their own AI credits
  9. Ask players to install the mobile app for attendance, pre- and post-session questionnaires, RPE and Hooper data
  10. Top up AI credits from the profile page when the included allowance runs out

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Unusually broad functional coverage for a single tool, from planning to video, load and scouting
  • Over 2,000 ready-made professional drills remove the need to build a library from scratch
  • The AI assistant is included in every plan rather than sold as a premium add-on
  • Content is graded by age group from U4 to the first team, which suits academies directly
  • Fully web-based with no installation, backed by native iOS and Android apps
  • European publisher, with processors stated to be established inside the European Union
  • Subscriptions do not renew automatically, and instalment payment is offered

Cons

  • No permanent free plan and no advertised free trial, so the tool cannot be tested without paying
  • Twelve-month commitment paid upfront, with no monthly option on the official grid
  • Video Analysis, Training Load Monitoring and Scout are billed separately and require the App subscription
  • AI usage is metered in personal, non-shareable credits that run out and must be topped up
  • The REST API is confined to the quoted CLUB plan and has no public documentation
  • No DPA, no published subprocessor list and no security certification are offered
  • A stale price grid still sits on the Training Load Monitoring page, contradicting the official pricing page

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how YouCoach handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR is addressed explicitly but modestly. The privacy policy states it was updated to align with the European regulation, lists the rights under articles 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21, names YouCoach S.r.l. as controller with a postal address, telephone number and email, and gives a retention schedule. The contact form carries an article 13 notice citing Regulation 2016/679, and the terms commit the sharing of minors' photographs and data to GDPR and national law. Being established in Italy, the company needs no article 27 representative and names none. What is missing is equally clear: no effective date on the policy, no named data protection officer, no data processing agreement, no published subprocessor list, and no security certification such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2 is claimed anywhere on the site.

Who owns the data?

YouCoach S.r.l., at Via Roma 44 in Monselice (PD), Italy, names itself the controller responsible for protecting and processing personal data, reachable at info@youcoach.com or +39 0429 1961410. Users keep access to their own records through the "My profile" area and may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent, and may complain to a supervisory authority. The company may share data with service providers it states are established inside the European Union, and will name them in a complete list only on written request. Nothing in the published terms transfers ownership of user-entered content to the vendor.

Reuse rights

The published documents draw a clear line between what users may do with their own data and what they may do with YouCoach's content. Data a coach enters into the web application, teams, sessions, players, assessments and videos, remains theirs to consult, correct, export as PDF and share with staff and players inside the platform; no clause claims ownership of it. The vendor's own material is treated the opposite way. Paid content may be used only privately, in digital form, on the single device it was downloaded to; it may not be resold, reprinted, modified or reproduced beyond strictly personal printing, and no economic exploitation rights are acquired. The wider terms also forbid reselling the services or using the site for business or promotional purposes without prior written authorisation. Where minors' photographs or sensitive data are involved, users must hold signed parental or guardian consent before entering or sharing anything.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Three separate clocks apply. An account left inactive for more than 24 months is automatically removed from the email delivery system. Once a subscription expires, data attached to it, teams, events and assets, is kept for a maximum of six months, after which access to subscriber-only services has already ended. If the account itself is deleted, the company keeps the data for administrative purposes only, for a maximum of three months, subject to any legal exemption. The overriding principle stated in the policy is that data is not stored longer than necessary for the purposes described. Unused AI credits are the exception and remain attached to the account indefinitely, though they can only be spent while a subscription is active. No anonymisation procedure is described.

Hosting summary

The published information is thin. The privacy policy states that personal data is stored in a database on servers licensed to YouCoach, without naming a country, a region or a hosting provider. The only geographical commitment is indirect: service providers with whom data may be shared are stated to be established within the territory of the European Union, and a complete list of them is available on written request rather than published. There is no mention of transfers outside the European Economic Area and no standard contractual clauses are referenced. The controller itself is Italian, so the applicable jurisdiction is Italy and, through it, EU law; the terms confirm disputes are settled under the law of the member state in which the site is based. As a technical observation rather than a vendor statement, the domain's public IP address resolves to OVH infrastructure located in Frankfurt, Germany, which is consistent with European hosting but is not itself a declaration by the publisher.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting YouCoach.

  • Over-reliance on generated sessions can quietly erode a coach's own planning craft: the assistant produces a defensible plan fast, which makes it tempting to stop asking why it chose that progression
  • The platform holds performance, injury and anthropometric data on minors; the terms require signed parental consent, and that obligation sits with the coach who types the data in, not with the vendor
  • Readiness scores and injury-risk flags are statistical inferences from self-reported RPE and Hooper values, and treating them as medical judgement rather than as one input among several is a real safety risk
  • The site never states whether customer data is used to train AI models, nor which language model is used, so users cannot make an informed decision about what leaves their club
  • No data processing agreement and no published subprocessor list means a club acting as controller has no contractual paper trail to show its own regulator
  • AI credits are personal and finite, so a habit built around the assistant can stall mid-season until someone buys more
  • The twelve-month upfront commitment, with no trial and no monthly exit, concentrates the whole risk of a bad fit at the moment of purchase
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. YouCoach App is entirely web-based, so there is nothing to install and no particular operating system is required, only an up-to-date browser with Chrome recommended. The site claims users are running ten seconds after signing up. Native iOS and Android apps are downloaded from the usual stores. A support centre offers written guides, video guides for load monitoring and an FAQ, and club customers get online training, priority support and a dedicated login page. The one exception is the CLUB plan's REST API, which assumes a developer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is YouCoach designed for?
Individual football coaches, clubs and youth academies. The drill library and planning tools are graded by age group from U4 through to the first team, so the same platform serves a single coach and a multi-team club.
What can YouCoach AI actually do?
It drafts season periodisation plans, builds training sessions around your scheduled goals and available players, structures a drill from a written description and generates diagrams and animations for it, searches the drill library in natural language, writes individual development plans and evaluation templates, and interprets training-load data to rank player readiness and flag injury risk.
Is the AI included, or does it cost extra?
It is included in every subscription plan and metered in credits: 100 with COACH and 250 with COACH PRO. Credits are personal to each user, so staff members need their own, and further credits can be bought from the profile page. Unused credits stay in the account even if the subscription is not renewed.
How much does it cost?
The COACH plan starts at 89.90 USD for twelve months and COACH PRO costs 109.90 USD for twelve months. The CLUB plan is quoted on request. Video Analysis, Training Load Monitoring and Scout are billed on top and require an active App subscription.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
Neither is advertised. Clubs can request a 30-minute demo with no obligation before deciding, but there is no self-service way to use the application without subscribing.
Does the subscription renew automatically?
No. It runs for twelve months from activation, is paid in full at activation, and renewal is a deliberate choice each time. The expiry date is shown under "My profile".
Do I need to install anything?
No. YouCoach App is entirely web-based and runs in an up-to-date browser, with Chrome recommended. Native iOS and Android apps are also available, and players use the mobile app to submit attendance, questionnaires, RPE and Hooper data.
Is there an API?
A REST API is listed as a feature of the CLUB plan, which is sold on quotation. No public API documentation is published on the site, so the interface is effectively available under contract rather than openly.
What languages is it available in?
Eight: Italian, English, Spanish, German, Greek, Japanese, Portuguese and Hungarian, each served from its own national domain.
What happens to my data if I stop subscribing?
Data tied to the subscription, such as teams, events and assets, is kept for a maximum of six months after expiry. Deleting the account entirely leaves data held for administrative purposes for at most three months. Unused AI credits remain in the account.
Conclusion

Should you pick YouCoach?

YouCoach is a mature vertical product rather than an AI novelty. The Italian publisher has been trading since 2014, the drill library and season planner predate the assistant by years, and the homepage claim of more than 15,000 clubs and coaches fits a tool that has had time to settle. The AI is best understood as an accelerator bolted onto an already wide coaching workflow: it is genuinely useful because it knows the user's season plan, squad and calendar, which is exactly what a general-purpose chatbot cannot do, but it is not what the platform is.

The commercial model asks for real commitment. Twelve months paid upfront, no free tier, no advertised trial, and three of the four modules billed separately on top of the base subscription. Buyers should price the whole stack they actually need rather than the 89.90 USD headline, and should note that AI usage is capped by personal credits.

Legal transparency is the weakest area. GDPR is addressed and the controller is properly identified, but there is no data processing agreement, no published subprocessor list, no effective date on the privacy policy and no security certification. The site is also silent on whether customer data feeds model training and on which language model powers the assistant, which is a real gap for a tool handling minors' performance and health data. A club with a procurement checklist will need to ask.

One housekeeping caution: a stale price grid still sits on the Training Load Monitoring page, showing monthly figures that the official pricing page contradicts. Treat the pricing page as authoritative. For a football club or academy that wants planning, load monitoring, video and scouting under one login, the proposition is coherent and hard to match; for anyone outside football, it is simply the wrong tool.
