Overview

What is Clueso?

Clueso is an AI production platform whose stated promise is product videos in minutes: it takes a raw screen recording and returns both a polished video and the written documentation that goes with it. Accepted inputs are broad, from a new browser or Chrome-extension recording to an existing video file, a recording captured on a phone, a PowerPoint deck, a PDF, a text document, or simply a prompt describing the video that is wanted. Outputs come out of the same pass: an MP4 or GIF up to 4K, a step-by-step article exportable as Rich Text, Markdown or HTML, and captions in VTT or SRT.

The pipeline is presented in four stages: record or upload, AI processing, customization, then export and share. Processing rewrites the spoken script, generates an AI voiceover, adds automatic zooms on the actions that matter, produces captions, writes the accompanying article and applies brand templates. The voice library runs from 500+ voices on Solo to 10k+ on the higher tiers, with voice cloning reserved for Enterprise; voiceover, captions and documentation can be translated in one click, with six languages named on the homepage alongside a further thirty-one.

Beyond generation, Clueso is a full editor: timeline with trim, split and merge, keyframes, sync points, version history, a media library of more than a million assets, a screenshot editor with blur and annotation, and screenshot-to-GIF conversion. A chat copilot rewrites or restructures articles from plain-language instructions. Clueprints store the brand and structure templates that later videos inherit. Clueso Agents go further: connected to the product or its codebase, an autonomous browser agent writes the script, navigates the application, captures the screencast, assembles the video and refreshes it as the product changes.

Team governance covers roles and permissions, multiple workspaces, centralized billing and review comments. On security, the vendor claims SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, encryption in transit and at rest, and SSO/SAML on Enterprise. Claimed traction includes 4.9/5 on G2, G2 Grid Leader and High Performer badges, 300,000+ videos created in six months, and named customers such as Personio, Duda, Keyfactor, Global Partners LP, Fireflies.ai, Phenom and Darwinbox. The publisher is Desklamp, Inc., backed by a USD 1.4 million seed round from f7 ventures and Y Combinator, with its operating team in Bengaluru.

What it does

  • Turn a raw screen recording into a finished, on-brand product video
  • Generate a step-by-step help article, with screenshots and GIFs, from that same recording
  • Rewrite the spoken script automatically: filler removed, brand tone and voice applied
  • Replace the original audio with a synthetic AI voice, or a cloned voice on the Enterprise tier
  • Translate voiceover, captions and documentation in one click
  • Convert a PowerPoint deck, a PDF or a text document into a narrated video
  • Deploy agents that create videos and keep them current with every product release
Audience

When to use Clueso / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Clueso is the right fit.

When to use Clueso

  • Customer education teams producing product walkthroughs, tutorials and help-center content
  • Product marketing managers shipping launch videos, demos and feature announcements
  • Learning and development teams building internal training videos, SOPs and employee onboarding
  • Customer support teams turning recurring tickets into visual help articles and video answers
  • Technical writers who need a first draft of an article with steps and screenshots generated for them

When not to use Clueso

  • Teams that need programmatic access: there is no public API and no developer documentation, so Clueso cannot be wired into an in-house content pipeline
  • Anyone expecting to create or edit on a phone or tablet: there is no mobile and no desktop application, everything happens in the browser
  • Occasional users: the cheapest paid tier is USD 40 per month for a single seat, and export quotas stay tight at the bottom of the range (10 minutes of video a month on Free, 15 on Solo, 30 on Business)
  • Filmmakers and camera-based producers: the product is built around software screen capture, not live-action shooting, narrative editing or fiction
  • Buyers who want voice cloning, a translation glossary, Clueso Cuts, long-recording splitting or SSO/SAML without a sales conversation: those sit behind the quote-only Enterprise tier

How to use Clueso

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create an account, either on the Free plan or through the 7-day free trial; neither asks for a credit card
  2. Choose the input: record your screen with the Chrome extension or the in-browser recorder, upload an existing video, a PowerPoint deck, a PDF or a document, or describe the video in a prompt
  3. Let the AI turn the original audio into a clean script, then adjust it sentence by sentence and set pronunciations
  4. Pick the AI voiceover: accent, tone and personality, with voice cloning available on the Enterprise tier
  5. Check the effects applied automatically (zooms, spotlights, callouts, blurs, captions), then refine in the editor: clip order, inserted slides, music, keyframes, format and aspect ratio
  6. Apply your brand through a Clueprint: fonts, colors, logos, intro and outro, inherited by later videos
  7. Proofread the generated article, replace screenshots, convert a screenshot into a GIF and steer edits with the chat copilot
  8. Translate voiceover, captions and article into the target languages in one click
  9. Export and distribute: MP4 or GIF up to 4K, article as Rich Text, Markdown or HTML, view-only link, embed code or publication to a YouTube channel
  10. On the Enterprise tier, connect the product or its codebase to Clueso Agents so videos are created and refreshed at every release

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Dual output from a single capture, a finished video and its written documentation, which few tools on this market deliver in one pass
  • No editing skills required, a claim the vendor supports with named customer testimonials
  • Clear privacy posture: no training on customer data, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, encryption in transit and at rest, plus a DPA and vendor security questionnaires handled for procurement
  • Regionalized storage across Mumbai, Frankfurt and California depending on the project region, uncommon at this price level
  • A permanent Free plan with no credit card, on top of the 7-day trial
  • Built-in translation of voiceover, captions and articles, which removes the need for a localization agency
  • Public pricing detailed tier by tier, and verifiable social proof: 4.9/5 on G2 and named customers such as Personio, Duda, Keyfactor and Fireflies.ai

Cons

  • Low export quotas: 10 minutes of video a month on Free, 15 on Solo, 30 on Business, with exports blocked once the quota is reached until renewal and unused minutes not carried over on monthly billing
  • No public API and no developer documentation
  • No mobile and no desktop application: the product runs in the browser only
  • Several key capabilities are quote-only on Enterprise: voice cloning, translation glossary, Clueso Cuts, SSO/SAML and reviewer seats
  • AI credits are consumed by chat-driven creation and editing, avatars, motion graphics and image generation, which makes the variable cost hard to forecast
  • Figures contradict each other from page to page: six named languages plus "+31 More Languages" on the homepage, 35+ in llms.txt, over 40 in the FAQ and 80+ on the enterprise page, while the FAQ still describes Starter and Growth plans that no longer exist on the pricing page
  • Thin corporate contact surface: no about page, no contact page and a single generic address, founders@clueso.io, for both legal and GDPR matters; subscription fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Clueso handles your data.

GDPR overview

The privacy policy, effective 20 September 2023, carries an explicit GDPR section that links to the official EU text and lists the rights of EU and EEA residents: access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, portability and withdrawal of consent. Requests go to founders@clueso.io, identity verification may be required before a response, and the right to complain to an EEA supervisory authority is stated. Separate CCPA and CalOPPA sections follow, and Do Not Track signals are honored. The plan comparison table shows a GDPR line on every tier, and the enterprise page advertises "SOC 2 & GDPR Compliant" with a DPA for enterprise customers. Two gaps stand out: no Article 27 EU representative and no DPO are named anywhere, and the transfer of personal data to the United States announced for users located outside it comes with no mention of standard contractual clauses.

Who owns the data?

Under the terms of service, users keep all rights to the Content they submit and remain responsible for it, including its legality and any third-party rights. Desklamp, Inc. describes itself as the Data Controller of the personal data it collects, and reserves the right, without any obligation, to monitor or edit user Content. The privacy policy, effective 20 September 2023, states a strict no-selling and no-trading policy, and the vendor states that customer data is never used to train its models. Clueso employees cannot reach a workspace without explicit permission granted for support or debugging. Disclosure remains possible to named subprocessors, to authorities under legal compulsion and in a merger or asset sale; content and associated data can be deleted at any time from workspace settings.

Reuse rights

Because users retain their rights to the Content they upload and generate, the output can be reused without asking Desklamp, Inc. for permission. Videos export as MP4 or GIF, help articles as Rich Text, Markdown or HTML, and captions as VTT or SRT. Finished content can be distributed through a view-only link, an embed code or the customizable video player, or hosted elsewhere entirely. Viewing volume is not billed: the site states that the number of views does not affect the price. Watermark-free export starts with the Solo plan, while the Free plan keeps a watermark. Export quotas are counted on the longest version exported during a cycle, so re-exports of the same video are not charged twice. The optional YouTube integration publishes only to the channel the user authorizes, and its OAuth tokens are deleted on disconnection. In return, the user warrants holding the rights to whatever is uploaded.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in the privacy policy, effective 20 September 2023; no figure in days or months is published. Retention may be extended to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce agreements. Usage data is described as kept for a shorter period, unless needed for security, service improvement or a legal obligation. Users can delete their content and the data attached to it at any time from workspace settings, and can exercise the GDPR right to erasure or the CCPA right to deletion by writing to founders@clueso.io. YouTube video metadata is retained only for the duration of an upload, and OAuth tokens are refreshed every 30 days and deleted on disconnection. No numeric retention period is published for recordings, videos or generated articles.

Hosting summary

All data, including audio, video and HTML data, is stored on S3 within AWS and protected by IAM policies. The FAQ states that storage is distributed across three AWS regions, Mumbai, Frankfurt and California, with the location following the user's region or the region in which the project was created; the customer does not pick the region. Encryption in transit and at rest is claimed on the enterprise page, alongside SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification and regular security audits. Jurisdiction sits with Desklamp, Inc., established in Delaware: the privacy policy, effective 20 September 2023, states that data belonging to users located outside the United States is transferred to and processed in the United States. A DPA and full security documentation are available to enterprise customers, and content can be deleted by the user at any time from workspace settings. Two blind spots remain: no standard contractual clauses are mentioned for the transfer, and no region choice is offered. Note also that the site's resolved IP address (31.43.161.6, Amsterdam, Amazon AS16509) is an anycast CDN node, not a storage location.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Clueso.

  • Synthetic voiceovers and AI avatars: audiences deserve to be told the narration is not human, a moral duty and in some jurisdictions a legal one
  • Voice cloning on the Enterprise tier requires documented consent from the person cloned, and carries an impersonation risk without it
  • A screencast captures everything on screen, including customer data, tickets, emails and credentials, and the blur tool is applied by hand, so it is easy to forget
  • The Chrome extension can capture, on opt-in, the HTML structure of the pages visited during a recording
  • Machine-translated regulatory or security documentation can shift meaning: a review by a native speaker remains necessary
  • Handing scripting and writing to agents can erode internal product knowledge and the team's ability to explain the product unaided, and mass-generated documentation goes stale and starts contradicting the product if nobody reviews it
  • The processing chain extends beyond the vendor: ten subprocessors are named in the privacy policy, among them OpenAI, Deepgram and ElevenLabs, and personal data is transferred to the United States with no standard contractual clauses mentioned
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Setup is light: no installation, an account and a browser are enough, with an optional Chrome extension for screen recording. The vendor claims no editing skills are required, and customer testimonials support that. Brand setup — fonts, colors, logos, intro and outro — is done once in a Clueprint and inherited by later videos. No API means nothing to develop. Effort rises on the Enterprise tier: SSO/SAML configuration, a security review and CSM-led onboarding. The most technical step is Clueso Agents, which need login access to the product or a connection to its codebase, and therefore involve IT.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Clueso?
Clueso is an AI platform that turns a raw screen recording into a polished product video and a step-by-step help article in a matter of minutes.
What can I feed into Clueso?
A screen recording made in the browser or with the Chrome extension, an existing video file, a recording captured on a phone, a PowerPoint deck, a PDF, a text document, or simply a prompt describing the video you want.
In which formats can I export?
Videos as MP4 or GIF up to 4K, articles as Rich Text, Markdown or HTML, captions as VTT or SRT, plus view-only links and embed codes for sharing.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
Both. A permanent Free plan at USD 0 per month, and a 7-day trial with access to every feature. Neither requires a credit card.
How much does the first paid plan cost?
Solo costs USD 40 per month on annual commitment, or USD 50 per month billed monthly. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
Is my content used to train AI models?
No. The vendor states that customer data is never used to train its models, and no opt-out setting is documented since none is needed. Content and the data attached to it can be deleted at any time from the workspace settings.
Where is my data hosted?
On AWS, in S3 storage protected by IAM policies, spread across three regions — Mumbai, Frankfurt and California — with the location following your region or the region where the project was created.
What security certifications does Clueso hold?
SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, with regular security audits, encryption in transit and at rest, and SSO/SAML on the Enterprise tier. A DPA is available to enterprise customers.
Is there a mobile app or a public API?
No. There is no mobile application and no API documentation: the product is used in the browser, with an optional Chrome extension for recording. Support is reached at support@clueso.io, through in-app chat, or via a dedicated Slack or Teams channel on Enterprise.
How many languages can Clueso translate into?
The figure is inconsistent across the site: six languages are named on the homepage alongside "+31 More Languages", llms.txt mentions 35+ for AI voices, the FAQ says over 40 and the enterprise page claims 80+. Worth confirming with the vendor for the languages you actually need.
Conclusion

Should you pick Clueso?

Clueso's central proposition is unusually clear: one screen capture yields both a finished video and the written documentation that accompanies it. That makes it a tool for internal teams — customer education, product marketing, learning and development, support and enablement — rather than for consumer creators, and the named customers on the site (Personio, Duda, Keyfactor, Fireflies.ai) match that profile.

What is solid: SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, an explicit statement that customer data is never used to train the vendor's models, storage regionalized across Mumbai, Frankfurt and California, public pricing tier by tier, and a DPA for enterprise buyers. Claimed traction is consistent with a young product: 4.9/5 on G2 and more than 300,000 videos created in six months.

What deserves scrutiny before committing: export quotas on the affordable tiers are low, at 10, 15 and 30 minutes of video a month on Free, Solo and Business, and exports stop once the quota is used; several capabilities enterprises usually ask for first, including voice cloning, the translation glossary, Clueso Cuts and SSO/SAML, sit behind a quote; and there is neither a public API nor a mobile application. The site also contradicts itself: the number of translation languages varies from page to page, and the FAQ still describes Starter and Growth plans absent from the pricing page. Confirm quotas, language coverage and Enterprise inclusions in writing.

The publisher is young: Desklamp, Inc. raised a USD 1.4 million seed round in April 2024, holds a Delaware address and runs its team from Bengaluru. Clueso suits teams producing a steady flow of product and training content who want the video and the documentation from one source, provided the monthly export volume matches the plan.
