adiutaByte is a planning suite built by adiutaByte GmbH in Sankt Augustin, Germany, that combines mathematical optimisation with artificial intelligence to solve three related problems: route planning, staff rostering and field-deployment scheduling. The name joins the Latin adiutare, to help, with byte. The technology grew out of several years of research at the Fraunhofer Institute SCAI, and the first problem it was aimed at was the staffing crunch in German home nursing, where a tour has to respect time windows, staff qualifications and the patient's familiar caregiver, and then be rebuilt on the spot when someone calls in sick.
The suite is sold as six modules. adiutaOpt exposes the optimisation engine as a REST API. adiutaPlan is the planning front end that matches orders, vehicles and staff and lets a human edit the generated tours afterwards. adiutaDrive is the driver app that delivers the day's plan to a phone and returns live order status, proof of delivery, signatures and photographs. adiutaAnalytics is delivered as consulting projects covering data review, GPS-trace analysis, district planning and scenario simulation. adiutaPortal lets end customers book, pay and coordinate their own orders, and adiutaService supports a service centre with intelligent order intake.
The API is the most openly documented part of the product. It publishes four optimisation cores: MixedPlanner for vehicle-routing problems, ShiftPlanner for weekly and monthly rosters under legal and team constraints, FloorPlanner for routing where travel time is not significant, and an Analytics endpoint for usage statistics. Each is documented for production, development and experimental endpoints, with a downloadable OpenAPI specification and no login required.
Planning constraints handled include time windows, shift lengths, staff preferences, categories, qualifications, vehicle capacities and historical data. GDPR implementation is documented in concrete terms. adiutaByte GmbH is the named controller and has appointed an external data protection officer, Oliver Stutz of datenschutz nord GmbH in Bremen (office@datenschutz-nord.de), while also directing data subjects to its own IT support for exercising their rights. A dedicated page carries two Article 13, 14 and 21 notices, one for customers and partners and one for applicants, listing access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Legal bases are cited article by article, including Article 88 GDPR with Section 26 BDSG for applicants. Processing agreements are in place with the host and the conferencing providers, and one is offered to customers before any project involving personal data. Who owns the data?
adiutaByte GmbH names itself as the controller for the adiutaByte Tour Assistant app and for the website. Because the company publishes no terms and conditions of any kind, there is no contractual statement about who owns customer data or what the vendor may do with it, and buyers cannot check this before contacting sales. For the marketing website, the same policy names Webflow Inc. in San Francisco as the host, with a processing agreement and standard contractual clauses under Article 46(2)(c) covering the transfer to the United States. The vendor's own conferencing tools, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, are likewise United States providers under the same clauses, and YouTube and Adobe Fonts are loaded on the site. Data collected by the app stores falls to those platforms. Server logs are anonymised by zeroing the last octet of the IP address.
