Overview

What is AROS?

AROS is an applicant tracking system for growing service businesses that need to hire but have no recruiting department. The vendor frames it less as software to operate than as a hiring operation running alongside the owner: you describe the role, and AROS reads the applications, organises what matters, keeps candidates moving and brings back the people and decisions that need a human call.

Four capabilities are documented. Job posting covers title, team, location, employment type, responsibilities and requirements, and publishes a public application page hosted by AROS; eligible postings become discoverable through Google Jobs via structured data, which the site is careful to describe as eligibility rather than a direct integration. Candidate tracking routes every application into a per-role pipeline with the resume attached and the source recorded, keeping stages, notes and interview history on the record, and rejected or withdrawn candidates stay searchable. Candidate profiles consolidate resume, contact details, application history, interview notes and communication log into one record that persists across roles. Sourcing is deliberately narrow: public job pages, resume import and returning to the Talent Pool, with no search of LinkedIn, third-party job boards or external resume databases.

Search is the everyday surface: you type what the job needs — three years of commercial HVAC, EPA 608, CDL Class A, a driving radius, an availability window — and AROS returns matching candidates from applicants, referrals, imports and past searches.

Several lines are drawn around the AI. Insights are labelled Draft — please review, candidates are placed in qualitative categories rather than scored numerically, each recommendation cites the resume and job description behind it, and every consequential action requires a human click. Each hire, and each pass, ends with a written Decision Packet recording who was chosen and on what basis. Candidates get their own status timeline, and 30-, 60- and 90-day reviews feed learning that stays private to the organisation.

AROS runs in the browser with nothing to install, and describes itself as being in a validation and early-access phase.

What it does

  • Publish a job and host its public application page
  • Read every incoming application and organise experience, skills, certifications and availability
  • Surface the candidates and decisions that need the owner's attention, with the reasoning attached
  • Search the whole talent pool: applicants, referrals, imported resumes, past searches, workforce partners
  • Keep the pipeline moving with acknowledgements, scheduled follow-ups and stage changes
  • Draft interview questions and refine job descriptions
  • Produce a written Decision Packet for every hire and every pass

When to use AROS / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if AROS is the right fit.

When to use AROS

  • Owners of growing service businesses — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping — hiring without a recruiting department
  • Dealership and restaurant managers filling front-line roles from a local applicant pool
  • HR managers in small teams who want hiring managers working directly in the tool rather than through them
  • Solo recruiters who need pipeline, notes and outcome tracking in a single workspace
  • Startup founders and operators making their first structured hires

When not to use AROS

  • Teams that need passive sourcing: AROS does not search LinkedIn, third-party job boards or external resume databases
  • Organisations requiring formal certification — SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR compliance are explicitly not claimed
  • Recruiters who need direct posting to LinkedIn, Indeed or ZipRecruiter, still announced as coming soon
  • Companies wanting to wire an ATS into their own systems: there is no public API and no API documentation
  • Buyers who need a settled product: the vendor describes itself as being in a validation and early-access phase

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Simple pricing: every plan carries the full ATS, tiers differ by hiring volume rather than by feature scope
  • A 12 USD per month Standby tier keeps the workspace and history alive between hiring pushes
  • Thirty-day free trial with no credit card required
  • Systematic written record of each decision, useful when a hire has to be justified later
  • Explicit guardrails: no numeric scores, no auto-hire, no AI agents messaging candidates unreviewed
  • Unusually frank about what it has not achieved, stating plainly that it holds no certifications
  • Setup announced at about five minutes, with no HR department or implementation partner needed

Cons

  • Self-declared validation and early-access phase: features may change without notice and data may be migrated, reset or anonymised
  • No certification whatsoever, and GDPR compliance explicitly not claimed
  • No public API and no API documentation, so nothing can be wired into an existing HR stack
  • No direct posting to LinkedIn, Indeed or ZipRecruiter, only announced as coming soon
  • No passive sourcing: search is limited to candidates already in the workspace
  • No postal address, no full legal entity name and no named founder published anywhere on the site
  • Support runs through a single email address, with no phone line, chat or public help centre

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how AROS handles your data.

GDPR overview

AROS explicitly declines to claim GDPR compliance. Both the Trust page and the Press page state that SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR compliance are not claimed today and will only be asserted after formal audits. What does exist is a privacy policy written against the regulation. It names the legal bases for EEA and UK users — consent, contract, legitimate interest and legal obligation — and lists rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent and complaint to a supervisory authority, with a 30-day response commitment at privacy@getaros.ai. It casts AROS as processor for candidate data and the employer as controller, and cites Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers to the United States. No Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer are designated.

Who owns the data?

Everything you or your candidates put into the platform — job postings, candidate profiles, resumes, decisions, notes and feedback — is defined as Customer Content, and the terms state that you retain ownership of it. AROS takes only a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit and display that content in order to deliver the service, to improve security and reliability, and, in aggregated and de-identified form, to improve the platform. For candidate records specifically, AROS positions itself as a data processor while the employer remains the data controller. Data is scoped to a private workspace, and the vendor states that no other customer, admin or model can reach it.

Reuse rights

You can reuse your own content freely: ownership stays with you, the privacy policy grants a right to portability, and deletion of candidate data can be requested by email at any time. The restrictions sit on the other side of the relationship. You may not resell, sublicense or offer AROS as a service to third parties without a written agreement, and you may not reverse-engineer, scrape or extract source data, prompts, model weights or scoring logic. AROS branding must stay in place except where the product explicitly allows customisation, for instance on decision templates. You also carry the obligation of holding a lawful basis for every candidate record you upload, including any consent the candidate owes you, and the platform may not be used for fully automated decisions where the law requires human review.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Early Access form submissions are kept until you ask for deletion, or 24 months after the last contact, whichever comes first. Account data is kept for the life of the account plus a short window for backups and audit logs. Audit logs run up to 24 months, then are aggregated or deleted. Candidate data uploaded by an employer is retained according to that employer's own instructions and retention policy, since the employer is the controller. Deletion of resume and candidate data can be requested by email and is promised to be processed promptly, and rights requests are answered within 30 days. For an Early Access submission, saying delete my submission is enough, with no further verification.

Hosting summary

AROS states that it is operated from the United States and that data may be transferred to, stored in and processed in the US and in other countries where the vendor or its processors operate, with Standard Contractual Clauses invoked where required. Governing law is the State of Delaware. The infrastructure is described only in general terms — modern production cloud infrastructure — with no hosting provider named. Encryption is claimed in transit over HTTPS and at rest through managed database encryption, with daily backups and point-in-time recovery handled by an unnamed platform provider. Each organisation gets a private workspace, and the vendor says the boundary is enforced in code on every screen and every API call rather than by policy. A network check made for this record resolves the domain to a Cloudflare anycast address, which identifies a CDN edge rather than a storage location and should not be read as a data residency indication.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting AROS.

  • Hiring discrimination: the terms forbid it, but liability stays entirely with the employer using the tool
  • Fully automated decisions are prohibited where the law requires human review, and checking that falls to you
  • Handing over judgement: the product filters what the owner sees, so it steers attention as much as it saves time
  • Sensitive candidate data — resumes, contact details, histories — entrusted to a vendor with no audit or certification
  • Validation phase: data may be migrated, reset or anonymised between iterations, according to the terms
  • No warranty on output accuracy, and liability capped at the greater of twelve months of fees or USD 100
  • Dependence on a third-party LLM provider for the in-app assistant, and on a company that publishes no address or named officer
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. AROS runs entirely in the browser with nothing to install, and the vendor puts setup at about five minutes with no HR department, recruiter or implementation help required. Starting the trial needs only an email address, no credit card. Because there is no API and no job-board connector to configure, there is nothing technical to wire up. The only administrative work is account management: only the account owner can invite members, change roles or remove people.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is AROS?
AROS is an applicant tracking system and hiring operation for growing service businesses that hire without a recruiting department. It reviews applications, organises what matters, keeps candidates moving and surfaces the decisions that need a human.
Does AROS decide who gets hired?
No. Every consequential action — invite, interview, extend, hire, decline — is a human click. Recommendations are labelled as drafts and cite their evidence, and the vendor states the product never auto-hires and never sends a rejection without you.
How much does AROS cost?
Standby is USD 12 per month, Starter USD 99, Growth USD 299 and Business USD 799; Enterprise is quoted case by case. Every paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial and no credit card is required.
Is there a permanent free plan?
No. The published price list contains five tiers and all of them are paid. The only free access is the 30-day trial that opens each paid plan.
Can AROS post jobs to third-party job boards?
Not directly. AROS hosts a public job page for each role and makes eligible postings discoverable through Google Jobs via structured data. Direct connections to LinkedIn, Indeed and ZipRecruiter are announced as coming soon.
Does AROS source passive candidates?
No. Sourcing is limited to three internal channels: your public job pages, resumes you import, and candidates already stored in your Talent Pool. AROS does not search LinkedIn, job boards or external resume databases.
Is candidate data used to train AI models?
No. The Trust page states that resume and candidate data stays in your workspace, is never sold or shared with another customer, and is never used to train the vendor's general AI models.
Is AROS SOC 2, ISO 27001 or GDPR certified?
No. The vendor states plainly that it claims none of these today and is working towards SOC 2 readiness, adding that certifications will only be announced once formal audits are complete.
What is the minimum age to use AROS?
Sixteen. The terms of service and the privacy policy both set the threshold at 16 years old.
How do I reach support?
By email at hello@getaros.ai. The help page promises a human reply, usually within one business day for non-urgent questions and the same day for anything blocking a hire.
Conclusion

Should you pick AROS?

AROS is a clear proposition badly served by its own youth. The positioning is sharp: an applicant tracking system sold to owners of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, dealership and restaurant businesses who have to hire and have nobody to do it for them. The differentiators are real product decisions rather than slogans — a written Decision Packet at the end of every hire and every pass, a refusal to score candidates numerically, mandatory human review on anything consequential, and a status timeline that treats applicants as people entitled to know where they stand. The price list is legible and low for the segment, from USD 12 a month on Standby to USD 799 on Business, with a 30-day trial that asks for no card.

The reservations are equally clear, and the vendor states most of them itself. The product is in a validation and early-access phase, so features can change and data may be migrated or reset. No certification is held and GDPR compliance is explicitly not claimed. There is no API, no direct posting to the major job boards and no passive sourcing. Beyond the product, the company behind it is almost entirely opaque: no postal address, no legal entity form, no named founder, a domain registered in June 2026 and not a single archived snapshot of the site.

For a small operator who wants hiring off their desk and can live on a tool that is still finding its feet, the trade is reasonable and the trial costs nothing. For anyone with a procurement process, a security review or an existing HR stack to connect to, AROS is worth revisiting in a year rather than adopting today.
