BetterPic
BetterPic turns seven or eight selfies into 4K professional headshots, offering 150+ outfit and background styles with delivery in one to two hours. Individuals and whole teams, one enforced style. One-time purchase from 35 USD, no subscription.
What is BetterPic?
BetterPic is an AI headshot generator published by BETTERGROUP HOLDING INC, a Delaware company online since 2023. The principle: you upload eight images of yourself, six or seven chest-up shots and one or two half-body shots, the AI trains an individual model on that material and renders professional portraits in 4K. An AI assistant screens the uploads before generation to protect the result.
The style catalogue is the product's centre of gravity: more than 150 styles, with a configurator combining backgrounds (studio, office, home office, cafe, legal, real estate, urban, education, retail, each in eight variations) and clothing families (41 Business, 19 Smart Casual, 12 Casual).
Three one-time individual packages are offered: Basic delivers 20 portraits in 1 style within two hours, Pro 60 portraits in 3 styles within an hour and a half, Expert 120 portraits in 6 styles within one hour. The Teams offer adds an administration dashboard, invitations by individual link, a locked style, centralised billing and volume pricing that falls from 49 to 13 USD per person.
Once the portraits are delivered, the AI Studio handles retouching: Clothing, Background, Skin Corrector, Eyes, Magic Fix, Magic Eraser, Expand, Remove Background and Colored Background, several of them still in Beta, plus a Human Edit performed by human retouchers. Three free tools work without any account: a free generator, a LinkedIn profile photo analyser and a profile photo editor with background removal.
On security, BetterPic advertises AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest, continuous monitoring through Vanta, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and CCPA, with primary storage in the EU, Frankfurt region. A four-part commercial guarantee covers AI screening of uploads, manual retouching, a redo and a seven-day refund. Accepted input formats are JPEG, JPG, PNG, AVIF, GIF, TIFF and WebP.
The site displays 4.7 on Trustpilot and claims 1,000+ reviews on the teams page, along with coverage by CNBC, Foundr, LinkedIn and Product Hunt. The team is fully remote, thirteen people named on the About page, founded by Ricardo Ghekiere (CEO) and Miguel Rasero (CTO). One caveat sits in plain sight: the homepage security block promises deletion within 30 days of delivery or approval, while the privacy policy sets one year for input photos and three years for models and outputs.

When to use BetterPic / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if BetterPic is the right fit.
When to use BetterPic
- Professionals refreshing a LinkedIn photo, a CV or a business card without booking a studio session
- Distributed teams that need consistent portraits across the whole headcount, from 10 to 10,000+ people according to the site
- Occupations where a photograph is part of the shop window: real estate agents, lawyers and doctors, each with a dedicated page on the site
- Job seekers and students, addressed directly by the resume headshots page
- Organisations with compliance requirements, given the claimed SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and CCPA credentials
When not to use BetterPic
- Anyone who wants a portrait in under fifteen minutes: the publisher itself admits being slower than Aragon, one to two hours against fifteen to forty-five minutes
- Anyone who wants to try the paid product for free: the publisher writes that it does not currently offer a free preview, and the free tool can take up to three months
- Product photography, fashion shoots or scenes with several people: the tool is built for individual portraits, and the group redirects fashion work to BetterStudio
- Users under 18, excluded by the terms and conditions
- Anyone who refuses any transfer of data outside the European Union, since part of the processing and storage takes place in the United States
How to use BetterPic
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Step 1: choose outfits and backgrounds from the 150+ styles, with the AI style builder suggesting coherent combinations
- Step 2: upload a handful of photos, shooting them on the spot if needed, while the AI assistant screens the images
- Step 3: wait for delivery, one hour on Expert, an hour and a half on Pro, two hours on Basic, with an email notification
- Step 4: retouch inside the AI Studio or request a human retouch, then download the files
- Teams, step 1: pick the company style and lock it for everyone
- Teams, step 2: invite members through a unique link, with no shooting session to schedule
- Teams, step 3: follow progress on the dashboard, add credits, change style and download, with a whole team announced in 24 to 48 hours
- Upload guidance: 6 to 7 chest-up shots and 1 to 2 half-body shots, varied expressions, settings and angles, minimal make-up, no nudity
- What to avoid on upload: glasses, hats, group photos and framing that is too tight
- An account is required for the paid product; the free tools need no registration, team creation is free without a card, and a sales demo can be booked through cal.com
Pros & Cons
Pros
- 4K output on every plan, entry level included, an argument the publisher raises against Aragon which reserves 4K for its top tier
- A style catalogue clearly wider than the competitors it cites, over 100 combinations against 25+ backgrounds at Aragon
- Human retouching included on the Expert plan, still rare in this market
- One-time purchase with no renewal, displayed as the central selling point of the site
- Documented compliance: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA, subprocessors published by name, DPA on request, and primary storage in the European Union, Frankfurt region
- A properly equipped team offer: dashboard, link invitations, HR integrations and volume pricing down to 13 USD per person
- A four-tier guarantee (AI screening, retouching, redo, seven-day refund) and free tools usable without an account
Cons
- Slower than competitors the publisher itself names: one to two hours against fifteen to forty-five minutes at Aragon
- No free preview of the paid product, and the free tool can involve a wait of up to three months
- Narrow refund conditions: 10% withheld as soon as a model has been trained, no refund at all after download, credits never refundable
- Very permissive terms on the free service: model training, aggregate datasets shared with third parties, marketing use of the photos
- Internal contradiction on retention: 30 days announced on the homepage against one year for input photos and three years for models and outputs in the privacy policy
- An API claimed on the site but no public documentation traceable there, no mobile application, and no documented mechanism to opt out of training
- Several AI Studio functions still labelled Beta, and customer ratings that diverge by location: 4.7 on Trustpilot in the page, 4.5 over 2,947 reviews in the widget, 4.8 over 800 reviews in the structured data
Pricing & Plans
Free options exist: three tools are usable without an account, and creating a team costs nothing and requires no payment card. The paid product is sold as a one-time purchase with no subscription, a point the pricing page carries in its heading. The entry price is Basic at 35 USD, followed by Pro at 39 USD and Expert at 79 USD. Team pricing starts at 49 USD per person for one to four people and decreases by volume: 39 USD from 5, 30 USD from 15, 26 USD from 50, 23 USD from 100, 20 USD from 250, 17 USD from 500 and 13 USD from 1,000 people. Options are charged individually, at 8 USD for a manual retouch and 10 USD for a redo. AI Studio credits are bought separately and are not refundable. Gift cards are available. The publisher compares its pricing with 100 to 300 USD for a photographer's session and claims an average saving of 87%.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how BetterPic handles your data.
GDPR overview
The data controller is BETTERGROUP HOLDING INC, based in Dover, Delaware, with a privacy contact at gdpr@bettergroup.io. An EU representative is designated under Article 27 (Ria Pardeep, ria@workstreet.com), alongside a UK GDPR Article 27 representative (Graham Reilly, graham.reilly@workstreet.com). The privacy policy, dated 8 October 2025, is organised around GDPR principles such as lawfulness, data minimisation and storage limitation, and refers to data protection impact assessments and standard contractual clauses. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request at legal@betterpic.io, and a subprocessor list dated 19 February 2026 is published. The publisher claims SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and CCPA compliance, with continuous monitoring through Vanta and a Trust Center at trust.bettergroup.io. No data protection officer is named in the policy.
Who owns the data?
BetterPic states that you keep ownership of both the selfies you upload and the headshots the service produces, and that every paid plan includes a full commercial licence covering unrestricted commercial use. Images can be deleted permanently from the interface or through support. One clause departs from that stance: under the terms and conditions, users of the free service grant BetterPic the right to use their input photos and generated headshots for marketing purposes. Ownership therefore sits with the customer on the paid plans, while the free tier carries an additional promotional licence granted to the publisher.
Reuse rights
On the paid product, customers may reuse the generated images freely and without asking permission, under the full commercial licence attached to every plan. Input photos train an individual model tied to the customer's own session; the publisher states that this model is encrypted at rest, is never reusable between accounts, and that photos never feed general model training. The homepage is categorical: data is never sold and images are never used to train AI models. The terms and conditions covering the free service say something different for that tier, allowing data to be used to train and improve the models, to enter anonymised aggregate datasets, and to be shared with third parties for research or commercial purposes. No training opt-out mechanism is documented; deletion is the only control offered. Payments run through Stripe and no card data is stored by the publisher.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Primary customer data storage is in the European Union, Frankfurt region, while some customer data is held in the United States in secure data centres. GPU processing may take place in either the EU or the US. The publisher claims AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest. The infrastructure disclosed combines AWS S3 for primary storage (EU and US), Cloudflare R2 for backup and CDN delivery (global), Neon for the PostgreSQL database (EU), Supabase for authentication (EU), Vercel for the front end (US and EU) and Render for the API (US). Content delivery involves Cloudflare, Inc. and Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, both named in the published subprocessor list. Buyers who cannot accept any transfer of personal data outside the European Union should note that part of the processing and storage is American, whatever the EU-first default may suggest. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting BetterPic.
- The terms and conditions of the free service allow marketing use of your photos, training of the models, and sharing of anonymised aggregate datasets with third parties. The paid plans fall under a different policy: check which tier you are actually using.
- Documentary contradiction on retention: a maximum of 30 days is announced on the homepage, against one year for input photos and three years for models and generated images in the privacy policy.
- AI Studio credits are never refundable, 10% is withheld as soon as a model has been trained, and no refund is possible once you have downloaded the images.
- The free tool can take up to three months before delivery, which makes it a poor substitute for a real trial of the paid product.
- The public API is claimed on an in-house comparison page, with no accessible documentation to confirm it.
- Customer ratings differ depending on where you look on the site: 4.7, 4.5 and 4.8 according to the location.
- The GDPR contact address sits on a separate group domain (bettergroup.io) rather than on betterpic.io.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for an individual. There is nothing to install: BetterPic is a web service, and an account is created through the sign-up page, while the three free tools work without registration. The paid journey is guided in three to four steps, with an AI assistant screening the uploaded photos before generation. On the team side, creating a workspace is free and requires no payment card, members join through an individual link, and no shooting session has to be scheduled. Only the HR integrations and the claimed API call for genuine technical implementation, unlike the individual journey.

Should you pick BetterPic?
BetterPic is a mature product rather than a launch: the changelog runs month after month from February 2025 to July 2026, and the feature set reflects that accumulation, from the style configurator to the AI Studio, human retouching, the team dashboard and the HR integrations. The positioning is deliberate and consistent, betting on quality and customisation rather than speed. The publisher says so itself when it sets its one-to-two-hour delivery against a rival's fifteen to forty-five minutes, and it answers with 4K on every plan, more than 150 styles and a four-part guarantee.
The compliance file sits above the average of this category: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and CCPA credentials, subprocessors published by name and by date, a DPA on request, EU and UK Article 27 representatives, and primary storage in Frankfurt.
Four points deserve checking before purchase. Retention periods do not agree between the homepage, which announces 30 days, and the privacy policy, which sets one year for input photos and three years for models and outputs. The terms governing the free service allow model training, anonymised aggregate datasets shared with third parties and marketing use of the photos, a stance that diverges from the promise displayed on the homepage. Refund conditions are narrow: 10% withheld once a model has been trained, nothing after download, credits never refundable. And the public API is claimed on an in-house comparison page without documentation reachable on the site.
The natural audience is clear: professionals whose photograph is part of their shop window, and distributed teams that need every portrait to look as if it came from the same session. Anyone in a hurry, or unwilling to see any data leave the European Union, should look elsewhere.
