Botmaker
Botmaker is a conversational platform for building autonomous AI agents that handle messaging, email and voice. It connects them to WhatsApp, Instagram, webchat, phone and around twenty other channels for customer service, sales and marketing campaigns.
What is Botmaker?
Botmaker is a conversational platform built around autonomous AI agents. Rather than a single chatbot builder, it groups three agent families under one console: AI Agents for Messaging, which automate conversations on WhatsApp, Instagram, webchat and other channels; AI Agents for E-mail, the Mailbots, which read, classify and answer incoming mail and escalate to human teams; and AI Agents for Voice, the Callbots, which take inbound and outbound telephone and WhatsApp Business calls through keypad IVR menus or natural-language interaction, handing over to a person only when needed.
Agents are assembled from prompts on top of what the company calls a state architecture, presented as the mechanism that keeps control at every step. Underneath sits a proprietary engine for interpreting user intent in text or voice, combining cognitive interpretation, natural language processing and machine learning, complemented by OpenAI technology; Botmaker claims agent response speed multiplied by nine. A Knowledge Base indexes web pages, documents and previous human agent replies to train bots automatically, while generative answers can be tuned for tone, maximum word count, emojis and variables. A Co-pilot feeds ChatGPT suggestions to human agents in real time.
Around the agents sit a multi-agent live chat supporting fully human, fully automated or hybrid service, with queues by specialty, roles, stickers and canned replies; a Notifications Engine for scheduled mass campaigns and reminders; Botmaker call, which escalates a chat to an encrypted audio or video call; a Webchat Designer; real-time dashboards exportable to business intelligence tools; and a Conversion Optimizer that reports chat conversions and events back to Google Ads and Meta Ads.
Connectivity is central. Roughly twenty channels are supported, from Microsoft Teams, Telegram, Slack and Mercado Libre to Amazon Alexa, SMS, Google Assistant and Apple Messages for Business, plus native embedding inside Android and iOS apps. A public API validates every call with an OAuth2 token and keeps audit logs. Botmaker is an official WhatsApp Business Solution Provider and a Facebook Marketing Partner, claims presence in more than forty countries, and lists Ford, Adidas, McDonald's, Mercado Libre, Movistar and the city of Buenos Aires among its references.

When to use Botmaker / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Botmaker is the right fit.
When to use Botmaker
- Customer service teams handling large volumes of WhatsApp conversations who want bots and human agents working in the same console
- Large brands and enterprises with existing CRM, ERP, payment or ecommerce systems to plug into, following references such as Ford, Adidas, McDonald's and Mercado Libre
- Companies that need an official WhatsApp Business Platform account opened and managed for them, rather than doing it themselves
- Public bodies and utilities running high-traffic citizen enquiry lines, as the city of Buenos Aires does with its Boti assistant
- Sales and growth teams that want to qualify leads in chat and report those conversions back into Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns
When not to use Botmaker
- Individuals and hobbyists, since the published grid starts at USD 149 per month with no permanent free tier
- Small businesses on a tight budget, because the WhatsApp channel adds a one-off USD 99 account opening fee plus notification costs
- Anyone hoping to evaluate the full product for free: the trial is a capped message credit over 30, 60 or 90 days and does not open the platform's functions
- Organisations with strict European data requirements, as no DPA, no subprocessor list and no hosting country are published anywhere on the site
- Teams that need an unregistered or personal setup, since opening a WhatsApp Business Platform account requires a registered company and a verified Facebook Business Manager
How to use Botmaker
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create a free Botmaker account online, or book a demo if you would rather be guided by an advisor
- Choose your onboarding mode: Self-Service, which starts you on a pre-configured bot with online documentation, or Account Manager, where a consultant sets the bot up with you
- Design your conversation in Botdesigner, using a main flow plus alternative flows drawn as flowcharts
- Start from one of the supplied templates and work collaboratively and synchronously with your teammates
- Feed the Knowledge Base by indexing your website, your PDF documents and your past chat transcripts
- Add generative replies where you need them, setting the prompt, tone, maximum length, emojis and variables, and use the Test button before saving
- Try the conversation in the real-time demo before releasing anything to your customers
- Connect your channels: social accounts can be linked yourself if you administer the Facebook page or hold a business Instagram account
- For WhatsApp, supply a registered company and a verified Facebook Business Manager ID; Botmaker opens the WhatsApp Business Platform account through four approval stages, in as little as three days
- Go further with the API, custom code deployed inside the platform, and integrations to your CRM, payment and delivery systems; free Academy courses cover the advanced ground
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Unusually broad channel coverage, text and voice, managed from a single platform
- Official WhatsApp Business Solution Provider status: Botmaker opens and manages the WhatsApp Business Platform account on the customer's behalf
- Chat, email and voice agents in one product, rather than three separate tools
- Unlimited bots on every plan, including the USD 149 entry tier
- Native hybrid model, where bot and human agent can both answer inside the same conversation
- Published, verifiable results from named customers: 82% of queries resolved by bots for Boti, 70% of leads handled without an agent for Ford, 65% of enquiries resolved automatically for Movistar, and a 13% monthly sales lift for Tenda
- ISO 27001 certification claimed, a SOC 2 Type II badge in the footer, a documented API and a free training Academy
Cons
- No permanent free tier: the published grid opens at USD 149 per month
- WhatsApp costs sit on top, with a one-off USD 99 account opening fee and notifications billed at WhatsApp cost plus a 20% service fee
- The free trial is deliberately limited, a capped message credit over 30, 60 or 90 days, with no access to the platform's functions and no renewal
- No Data Processing Agreement, no subprocessor list and no documented model-training opt-out anywhere on the site
- No hosting country or region is disclosed; the privacy policy only refers to worldwide destinations
- No EU representative under Article 27, no named data protection officer, and the acronym GDPR appears nowhere; the privacy policy answers to Uruguayan law and the terms to Argentine law
- Contractual documents are ageing for a product now sold as an AI agent platform: terms dated 23 June 2022, privacy policy last updated 21 January 2025, with a partly Spanish site and a /privacy page that returns an empty document
Pricing & Plans
There is no permanent free plan. Opening a Botmaker account is free and every plan includes up to 300 free initial conversations, and a free trial is offered as a capped message credit usable over 30, 60 or 90 days, but continued use requires a paid subscription. The lowest published price point is the Standard plan at USD 149 per month. Two costs sit outside that figure: a one-off USD 99 fee to open a WhatsApp Business Platform account, and push notifications billed at WhatsApp's own cost plus a 20% service fee. Billing is calculated per daily user rather than per message.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Botmaker handles your data.
GDPR overview
Botmaker claims compliance in one line on its About and Developers pages: "Compliance with the European Data Protection Act and the Brazilian General Data Protection Act". Nothing else supports it. The acronym GDPR appears nowhere in the pages collected, no Article 27 EU representative is designated, no data protection officer is named, no Data Processing Agreement is published or offered, and no subprocessor list exists. Data subject rights are handled informally, through account settings or an email to servicio@botmaker.com. The privacy policy is governed by Uruguayan law with exclusive jurisdiction in Montevideo, and the terms of service by Argentine law with jurisdiction in Buenos Aires. Certification claims are security-focused rather than privacy-focused: ISO 27001, plus a SOC 2 Type II badge in the site footer.
Who owns the data?
The terms are explicit that the customer keeps ownership: Botmaker states it is not the owner of any of the contracting party's data, and that the customer alone answers for the accuracy, quality, integrity and legality of that data. Botmaker's own use of it is contractually restricted to delivering the service and meeting its obligations under the agreement. Sharing personal data with third parties is forbidden unless the law requires it or the customer expressly authorises it. Collecting end-user consent is the customer's job, not Botmaker's. The privacy policy adds one caveat: in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition or asset sale, information may be sold or transferred with the business.
Reuse rights
Botmaker's terms give the customer free use of its own data, which the platform never claims to own. What the customer may not reuse without permission is the platform itself: the licence is a sublicence to use the technology, it transfers no intellectual property, it may not be installed on a third party's infrastructure, and it may not be transferred, assigned, leased or otherwise passed on without prior written consent. Botmaker retains the copyright on its routines and development processes and may reuse them for other products or licence them onwards. Deliverables from professional services come back to the customer as a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free sublicence for the term of use. Customer data can be read and written back through the API, Google Data Studio reports or a direct BI and data warehouse connection.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Botmaker names no hosting country and no hosting region. The privacy policy states only that information may be transferred to and stored at worldwide destinations, and that whatever country you live in or supply data from, you authorise Botmaker to store and use it in any country where the company operates. Jurisdiction is clearer than location: the privacy policy is governed by Uruguayan law with exclusive jurisdiction in the courts of Montevideo, while the terms of service are governed by Argentine law with jurisdiction in Buenos Aires. Security claims stand in for hosting detail: ISO 27001 certification, full traffic monitoring with DDoS defence, geolocation controls and application-level defence against SQL injection and cross-site scripting, plus a SOC 2 Type II badge in the footer. No subprocessor list and no Data Processing Agreement are published, so a buyer with data residency requirements will have to ask directly.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Botmaker.
- The advertised price is not the bill: add USD 99 to open a WhatsApp Business Platform account and a 20% service fee on top of WhatsApp's own notification cost
- Billing is per daily user, not per message; one session or one continuous 24-hour period counts as a user, which makes budgets hard to forecast before launch
- Cancelling between the 1st and the 15th of the month still means paying that whole month, and late payment carries a 2% penalty plus 1% monthly interest
- A phone number activated on WhatsApp Business Platform can never go back to WhatsApp Business or ordinary WhatsApp: the choice is irreversible for that line
- With no DPA, no subprocessor list, no stated hosting country and no training opt-out, anyone processing European personal data is accepting a documentation gap, not a documented position
- Automating customer contact at this scale shifts skill away from the people who used to do it; teams that let bots absorb the routine work can lose the judgement they need when a conversation goes wrong
- Generative replies are tuned by prompt, tone and word count, which makes a plausible wrong answer easy to produce and easy to trust; the terms place liability for data accuracy and legality on the customer, not on Botmaker
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Moderate, and channel-dependent. An account is created online unaided, a pre-configured bot is supplied, flows are drawn as flowcharts, and Botmaker states that connecting social accounts needs no development knowledge. A free Academy and help centre cover the rest. WhatsApp is the slow part: it requires a registered company, a verified Facebook Business Manager ID and four approval stages, three days at best. Advanced work such as custom code inside the platform, OAuth2 API calls and CRM or payment integrations needs a developer. An Account Manager or a turnkey project is available for teams that would rather not.

Should you pick Botmaker?
Botmaker is a mature conversational platform rather than a chatbot toy, and its centre of gravity is clear: WhatsApp, at enterprise scale, with Latin America as its home market. Bringing messaging, email and voice agents into one Botdesigner is a genuine advantage over stitching three tools together, and the hybrid model, where a bot and a human answer inside the same conversation, is native rather than bolted on. The customer list is unusually verifiable for this category, and the published numbers are specific enough to argue with: 82% of queries resolved by bots for the city of Buenos Aires, 70% of leads handled without an agent for Ford, a 13% monthly sales lift for Tenda.
The reservations are documentary rather than functional. Botmaker claims ISO 27001 and displays a SOC 2 Type II badge, but publishes no Data Processing Agreement, no subprocessor list, no hosting country, no model-training opt-out and no Article 27 representative; the word GDPR does not appear anywhere on the site, and the privacy policy answers to Uruguayan courts while the contract answers to Argentine ones. A European buyer with a serious procurement checklist will have questions the website does not answer. The contractual documents are also showing their age for a product now sold on autonomous AI agents.
On price, the entry point is honest but unmistakably corporate: USD 149 a month before the USD 99 WhatsApp account fee and the 20% margin on notifications, with billing per daily user rather than per message. Botmaker suits organisations with real conversation volume and systems to integrate; it is not built for individuals or for teams that need European data guarantees in writing.
