Overview

What is Brainy Canvas?

Brainy Canvas is a visual workspace for turning an idea, a document, an image, an audio clip or a video into finished creative output. Rather than a chat transcript, the work lives on a canvas: you drop in a source, add the steps you need, connect them and press run. Each result is handed to the next step, so a transcript can become a summary, the summary a slide deck, and the deck a narrated explainer video — all inside one graph you can reopen, rewire and run again.

The model catalogue is the other half of the proposition. The models directory counts 53 text models, 77 image models, 56 video models and 17 speech models, 203 in total, from labs including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, Alibaba, Black Forest Labs, Recraft, Ideogram, Luma, Kling, Runway and ElevenLabs. You can swap the model on a node, push the same prompt through several of them and keep whichever output wins, without holding an account or an API key with every provider. Be aware that the homepage advertises both "142+ models from 36+ providers" and "214 models from 36 providers", so the published figures do not agree with each other or with the directory.

Pricing follows from that catalogue. The publisher charges a flat membership and meters generation in credits at what it calls the wholesale rate: one credit is worth $0.005, with no markup added to the model itself. The exact credit cost of an action is displayed before you run it, and a published reference table sets expectations — around one credit for a budget text run, one to twenty for an image, and 54 to 400 credits for a few seconds of video.

There are lighter ways in. The apps section holds single-purpose tools such as image to video, a product ad maker, a YouTube thumbnail generator and a background remover, and the first run of each one is free without an account. Templates offer ready-made canvases to remix. For agents, an MCP server exposes the same canvas to Claude, Codex or ChatGPT through a single connection URL and a browser sign-in, with no API key to paste; a separate REST API covers custom integrations.

What it does

  • Turn an idea, document, image, audio clip or video into a connected multi-step workflow on one canvas
  • Generate images and variations, then upscale, inpaint, outpaint, relight, restore or cut out the background
  • Create video from text or from a still image, extend it, restyle it, lip-sync it or slow it down
  • Transcribe recordings into readable text and produce voiceovers, including cloned voices
  • Build slide decks and narrated explainer videos from notes or a document
  • Turn study material into flashcards, quizzes, revision notes, diagrams and mind maps
  • Give an AI agent a canvas of its own through the MCP server or the REST API

When to use Brainy Canvas / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Brainy Canvas is the right fit.

When to use Brainy Canvas

  • Creators and marketers who need images, short video, voiceovers and ad variants from a single brief, without juggling a separate subscription for each generator.
  • Students and educators turning notes, lectures or PDFs into flashcards, quizzes, revision notes, diagrams and narrated explainers.
  • Developers and technical builders who want an MCP server or a REST API so an agent such as Claude, Codex or ChatGPT can produce work on an inspectable canvas.
  • Founders and freelancers who want published, per-generation pricing rather than an opaque subscription, and who watch every dollar of tooling spend.
  • Anyone who wants to compare several models on the same task and keep the best output, instead of committing to one lab's ecosystem.

When not to use Brainy Canvas

  • Organisations with a procurement checklist: there is no DPA, no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification and no trust or security page anywhere on the site.
  • European teams bound by data residency requirements: hosting and all four disclosed subprocessors are United States based, with no EU option offered.
  • Anyone who needs to know who they are buying from: the site publishes no full legal entity name, no postal address and no named officer.
  • Mobile-first users: no iOS or Android application is mentioned or linked anywhere.
  • Teams that need live co-editing today: live collaboration is advertised as "Coming soon" on the Premium plan and is not yet available.

How to use Brainy Canvas

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Try a single-purpose app from the apps directory: the first run of each one is free and needs no account.
  2. Create a free account when you want to keep your work: 200 credits are granted, with no card required.
  3. Open a canvas from a prompt, a file, one of the apps or a ready-made template.
  4. Drop files onto the canvas to create nodes, or add the steps you need one by one.
  5. Connect the nodes so each result feeds the next step, then check the credit cost displayed before running.
  6. Press run and watch the graph execute, then rerun any weak branch or swap its model.
  7. To connect an AI agent quickly, run the setup helper: npx add-mcp https://brainycanvas.com/mcp --name brainy-canvas -g
  8. To connect an agent manually, use your client's own command, for example: claude mcp add --transport http brainy-canvas https://brainycanvas.com/mcp
  9. Approve access at the browser sign-in prompt; the connection can be revoked from your account at any time.
  10. For your own backend or scheduled jobs, create a REST API key from the account menu and call the API with a Bearer header.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The credit cost of every generation is displayed before you run it, and one credit converts to a plain $0.005
  • A single membership covers more than twenty-five labs, so there is no separate account or API key per provider
  • 200 credits are granted at sign-up with no card, and the first run of every app is free without even creating an account
  • Several ways in — web canvas, single-purpose apps, templates, MCP, REST API and a CLI — rather than one rigid interface
  • Agents connect through one URL with a browser sign-in, no API key to paste, and access can be revoked from the account
  • An agent's work is left as an inspectable, re-runnable canvas instead of a disposable transcript
  • Monthly and annual prices are published in full, with no "contact sales" tier and cancellation stated as available at any time

Cons

  • No full legal entity name and no postal address appear anywhere on the site, on any identity page
  • The only published contact is a Cloudflare-obfuscated email address on a different domain, with no contact page and no form
  • No security certification of any kind — no SOC 2, no ISO 27001 — and no trust or security page
  • No data processing agreement is published or offered, no Article 27 EU representative is designated and no DPO is named
  • Hosting and all four disclosed subprocessors are United States based, with no data residency option; no documented way to exclude your data from model training
  • Monthly credits neither roll over nor are refundable, credit costs are estimates the publisher can change with immediate effect, and a fair use clause allows extra fees or capacity limits
  • The site contradicts itself on its own catalogue size, advertising 142+ and 214 models on the same homepage while the directory counts 203

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Brainy Canvas handles your data.

GDPR overview

The privacy policy carries a dedicated section headed "Additional Disclosures for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance (EU)". Brainy Canvas declares itself a data controller, lists its lawful bases (consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation), requires parental consent below the age of 16, and states that transfers out of the EEA rely on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, binding corporate rules or other legally accepted means. The usual rights are spelled out: access, rectification, restriction, objection, portability in CSV or another machine-readable format, erasure, non-discrimination and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Personal information is deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Three things are missing: no Article 27 EU representative is designated, no data protection officer is named, and no data processing agreement is published or offered.

Who owns the data?

The terms state that you keep intellectual property ownership of the content you submit and that the publisher will never claim ownership of it. In exchange you grant Brainy Canvas a licence that is non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable and worldwide, covering use, distribution, modification, running, copying, public display, translation and derivative works. Deleting your content or your account ends that licence, with one exception: where the content has already been used in commercial or sponsored material, the licence runs until that use is discontinued. Using the service also grants permission to display your company logo and name for promotional purposes, with opt-out only on request. If the business is acquired or fails, data is among the assets transferred.

Reuse rights

Nothing in the terms restricts what you do with your own outputs: you keep ownership of the content you submit, and no clause requires the publisher's permission before reusing, publishing or selling what you generate. Responsibility travels with that freedom — you are declared solely responsible for everything you input, upload, transmit, create or publish through the service, and for holding the legal permissions covering any work you include. The acceptable use policy sets the boundaries: no copyrighted or trademarked material used without authorisation, nothing obscene, defamatory or in breach of export control law, no spam, no harassment. Material on the website itself is a different matter: it belongs to or is licensed by the publisher, and visitors may download one copy for personal, non-commercial use only, with mirroring, reverse engineering and redistribution prohibited.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal information is kept only as long as it is needed, and the retention period depends on the purpose. Data provided when creating an account may be kept for as long as the account exists. Once the purpose no longer applies, the publisher states it will delete the data or anonymise it by removing every identifying detail. Information may be kept longer where a legal, accounting or reporting obligation applies, or for archiving in the public interest and for scientific, historical or statistical research. If you delete your account, personal information is deleted within 30 days. The policy warns that search engines and other third parties may retain copies of anything that was made public, even after deletion. No specific retention period is published for uploaded files, projects or generated outputs.

Hosting summary

Personal information is stored and processed in the United States, or wherever the publisher, its partners, affiliates and third-party providers maintain facilities. Four subprocessors are published by name, each processing globally from a United States corporate base: OpenAI, Vercel Analytics, Stripe and Supabase. The privacy policy warns that destination countries may not offer the same level of protection as the country where the data was originally provided, and states that transfers out of the European Economic Area are covered by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, binding corporate rules or other legally accepted means. No European hosting region or data residency option is offered. The site itself sits behind Cloudflare, so the address the domain resolves to is an anycast CDN node rather than the location where data is actually held; the United States figure comes from the privacy policy, not from that resolution. Governing law for the terms is the State of California.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Brainy Canvas.

  • The licence you grant over your content is broad — sub-licensable, transferable and worldwide — and it survives deleting your account whenever the content has already been used in commercial or sponsored material.
  • Using the service grants permission to display your company logo and name for promotion by default; opting out requires contacting the publisher.
  • Credit costs are explicitly estimates that can be adjusted at any time with immediate effect, and a fair use clause allows extra fees or capacity restrictions if usage is judged excessive.
  • Monthly credits do not roll over and are non-refundable and non-transferable, so unused allowance is simply lost at the end of each cycle.
  • You cannot tell who you are contracting with: no legal entity, no address, no officer, and a contact address on a domain other than the service's own.
  • If the business is acquired or enters bankruptcy, your personal information is expressly among the assets transferred to whoever acquires it.
  • Generating finished images, video and voiceovers this cheaply invites volume over judgement: the ease of pressing run again can quietly replace the editorial decision about whether the output is any good, and outputs still need checking for accuracy and for the rights attached to anything you fed in.
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low for ordinary use: nothing to install, no card required, and the first run of each app works without an account. The canvas is drag and drop, and the publisher states plainly that no code is required. Connecting an AI agent is a single npx command followed by a browser sign-in, with no API key to paste; connecting one manually is a single command per client. Only the REST API asks for real technical work — creating a key, sending a bearer header, and staying under 60 requests per minute — and the publisher notes it is not needed to connect an MCP client.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Brainy Canvas?
It is a visual workspace that turns ideas and files into images, video, audio, slides, study material and diagrams. Each step sits on one canvas, so sources and results stay together and the whole workflow can be reopened and run again.
How does it actually work?
You start from an idea, a document, an image, an audio clip or a video, add the steps you need, connect them and press run. Each result is passed into the next step automatically, so one canvas can carry a job from raw source to finished asset.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Hobby plan costs nothing and includes 200 one-time credits with no card required, and the first run of every app is free without an account. Paid plans are Entry at USD 9.99 per month and Premium at USD 29.99 per month.
What does "wholesale pricing" mean here?
The publisher states that you pay the underlying AI service cost with no markup added on the model, and that its margin sits in the membership instead. One credit is worth USD 0.005, and every model shows its credit cost before you run it.
Do I need to write code?
No. The canvas is visual: you drag in the steps you need, connect them and press run. A code node exists for people who want it, but the publisher describes it as entirely optional.
Can I connect an AI agent to it?
Yes. An MCP server is exposed on a single connection URL, with no API key to paste; you approve access through a browser sign-in and can revoke it from your account. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor are named as supported clients.
Is there an API?
Yes, a REST API authenticated with a bearer key, documented with endpoints for projects, nodes, edges and media generations. Keys can be scoped to one project, and requests are limited to 60 per minute when rate limiting is enabled.
Where is my data hosted, and who else touches it?
Data is stored and processed in the United States. Four subprocessors are published by name: OpenAI, Vercel Analytics, Stripe and Supabase, all headquartered in the United States. No European hosting option is offered.
Is there a minimum age?
The service is not aimed at children under 13, and the publisher states it does not knowingly collect personal information about them. Under the GDPR section, parental or guardian consent is required for users under 16.
Is there a mobile app?
No iOS or Android application is mentioned or linked anywhere on the site. Brainy Canvas is used through the web, the MCP connection, the REST API or the command line.
Conclusion

Should you pick Brainy Canvas?

Brainy Canvas is unusually candid about what a generation costs. The credit price of every action is shown before you run it, one credit converts to a flat $0.005, and a published table lets you budget a video or a slide deck in advance. That transparency, combined with a catalogue of 203 models drawn from more than twenty-five labs and a single membership in place of an account with each provider, is the real argument for the product. The agent-first stance is genuine too: the MCP server comes first and the REST API second, and an agent's work is left as a canvas you can open, inspect and rerun rather than a transcript that disappears with the chat.

The counterweight is how little the publisher says about itself. There is no full legal entity name, no postal address, no named officer, and the single published contact is an obfuscated email address on a different domain. Compliance is documented but thin: the GDPR section is detailed, yet there is no Article 27 representative, no data protection officer, no data processing agreement and no security certification, and hosting sits entirely in the United States with no residency option. The domain was re-registered on 31 March 2026 while the Wayback Machine holds captures going back to 2011 that belong to an unrelated earlier occupant, so this is a young service on an old address.

Small inconsistencies reinforce that impression: the homepage advertises 142+ and 214 models within a few paragraphs of each other, while the directory counts 203. Worth trying for individual and small-team creative work, where the pricing model is a real advantage; harder to justify wherever procurement, data residency or a named counterparty matters.
