What is BuildShip?
BuildShip is a visual backend and AI workflow builder published by Rowy Inc., a Delaware company trading as BuildShip. It aims at a specific gap: the speed of no-code tooling without the ceiling that usually comes with it. You describe what you want in plain language, the AI Builder generates the flow logic and the nodes, and you refine the result on a visual canvas. Every node stays open — its JavaScript or TypeScript source can be read, edited and debugged in a browser editor with autocomplete, a sandbox and localhost-like stepping. Unlimited AI generation is included on all plans.
The platform ships more than fifty ready-made nodes and generates a new one on demand when no integration exists. Seventy-six integration families are listed, covering model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, Cohere, Hugging Face and Replicate; databases including Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Supabase and Firestore; vector stores Pinecone and Qdrant; payment systems Stripe, Lemon Squeezy and RevenueCat; and messaging through Slack, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp and Twilio. Keyless Nodes run AI models on BuildShip credits with no API key at all, and you can switch to your own key later.
A finished workflow becomes a REST endpoint, a cron job, a webhook receiver, a database trigger, a payment event handler or a chat bot. Above that sits an agent layer: agents use tools, delegate to other agents, escalate to a human, draw on memory indexed from files, websites and internal data, and are graded against evaluation criteria you define.
Underneath, BuildShip runs on Google Cloud Platform, executing code serverlessly through Cloud Run with EventArc triggers and Bring Your Own Cloud compatibility. Anything you build can be exported in one click as clean JavaScript and redeployed on Vercel, GCP, AWS, Azure or your own MCP server, which is the company's answer to vendor lock-in. Operations are covered by version control, two-way GitHub sync, separate environments, multi-region projects, secret management, role-based access control, execution logs and failure alerts. GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly. The Enterprise page lists BuildShip as GDPR Compliant alongside SOC II, HIPAA and ISO 27001, and the pricing grid carries a security row naming the same four, with compliance reports offered on the Enterprise plan. The privacy policy sets out the GDPR and UK GDPR legal bases relied on — consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations and vital interests — and lists the rights available in the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Canada: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and freedom from automated decision-making, with a right to complain to a supervisory authority. Two limits deserve mention: no Article 27 EU representative is named, and no data protection officer is designated, privacy@buildship.com being the only stated contact.
Who owns the data?
The data controller is Rowy Inc., a Delaware company doing business as BuildShip, under a privacy policy last updated on 2 March 2025. Payment data is held by Stripe Inc. rather than by BuildShip itself, and accounts can be opened through Google or GitHub third-party logins. Users keep control over their own records: account details can be reviewed, corrected or deleted from the settings, and deletion can be requested at privacy@buildship.com. After closure, some information may still be kept to prevent fraud, settle disputes or meet legal obligations. Google Workspace permissions granted to BuildShip can be withdrawn by removing the integration.
Reuse rights
What you build stays yours to take away: BuildShip advertises one-click export of any workflow as clean, modular JavaScript that can be handed to developers, embedded in an application or redeployed on Vercel, GCP, AWS, Azure or your own MCP server, with no permission to request. On the vendor side, personal data is processed to run and improve the service, provide support, handle billing, send marketing you can unsubscribe from, target advertising, prevent fraud and analyse usage. It is shared only with categories of third parties: cloud computing, analytics, storage, payment processors, engineering and design tools, artificial intelligence models, sales and marketing tools, authentication services, hosting and communication tools. Sharing with third-party AI models requires explicit OAuth consent and can be withdrawn by removing the integration, deleting the workflow logic or changing account preferences. BuildShip states that it does not retain or use Google Workspace API data to train generalised AI or ML models, and that Rowy Inc. has sold no personal information in the last twelve months.

Hosting summary
BuildShip runs on Google Cloud Platform, executing workflow code serverlessly through Cloud Run, with EventArc-based triggers and Bring Your Own Cloud compatibility. Two statements about location coexist on the site. The terms of service say plainly that the Services are hosted in the United States and that using them from elsewhere means consenting to a transfer of data to the United States. The documentation and the Experts page, meanwhile, present project region selection as the compliance mechanism: workflows are deployed to the chosen region and data is said never to leave it, with the EU region named as the way to meet GDPR requirements. Region switching, covering the storage bucket, Cloud Run and Firestore, was added in the June 2025 release, and multi-region projects appear in the pricing grid. Secrets are stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager inside a single-tenant project. Anything built can also be exported and self-hosted on Vercel, GCP, AWS, Azure or a private MCP server, which places hosting entirely under the customer's control.
