Catalister
Catalister is an AI product research and listing tool for Shopify stores. It imports products from AliExpress, Temu or rival shops, then writes SEO titles, descriptions, tags, categories and image alt text, and bulk-refreshes catalogues already online.
What is Catalister?
Catalister is a Dutch SaaS product, published by DynamicAI in Ermelo, that automates the writing and upkeep of Shopify product listings. It bills itself as an AI product research and listing expert, and its scope is deliberately narrow: everything it does converges on a single object, the Shopify product page.
The service comes in three parts, and all three are included in every paid plan. Catalister proper handles new products: it finds them, imports them, and writes the listing from scratch. Relister works on the catalogue you already have, regenerating titles, descriptions, categories and tags in bulk so an ageing shop can be refreshed without manual editing. Analister connects your Google Ads account and returns product-level insight, recommendations and margin analysis.
Product discovery runs along four advertised routes: an integrated Google Keyword Planner, analysis of competitor stores, direct import from AliExpress or Temu, and automatic AI suggestions based on your criteria. Once a product is in, the generator produces SEO titles, descriptions, product types, custom tags, category assignments, metafields, variant structures and image alt text. It also removes image backgrounds and renames image files. Output is shaped by settings you control: brand voice, custom templates, pricing and margin rules, and a prompt builder. Advanced localisation adds market-specific templates, smart pricing and currency conversion. Listings are pushed to Shopify through its official APIs, one at a time or in bulk.
Pricing works on two levels: a monthly subscription plus a credit balance. One credit produces one listing; copy-and-paste import consumes none. Plans from Starter to Scaler include 50 credits a month, Slayer 300, Enterprise 2,000, with extra credits sold from €0.14.
The vendor claims a drop from 30-50 minutes per product to a few minutes, 500 products processed in under an hour, and cites 500+ sellers. A REST API is documented for custom integrations. The boundaries are firm: Shopify only, with 1688 and Alibaba listed as unsupported, no mobile app, no browser extension, and no interface language documented beyond English.

When to use Catalister / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Catalister is the right fit.
When to use Catalister
- Dropshippers running Shopify stores who add new products every week and want to stop copying supplier text by hand
- High-volume e-commerce sellers listing dozens or hundreds of SKUs, who need throughput more than bespoke copy
- Shop owners sitting on a large, stale catalogue that needs its titles, descriptions and categories rewritten in bulk
- Google Ads advertisers who want product-level insight and cleaner Shopping feeds alongside the listings themselves
- Solo founders and small teams weighing a subscription against the cost of hiring a virtual assistant for listing work
When not to use Catalister
- Sellers on WooCommerce, Amazon, Etsy or any platform other than Shopify: the integration is Shopify-only
- Anyone sourcing from 1688 or Alibaba, which the vendor's own comparison table marks as unsupported and merely 'coming soon'
- Buyers who need a permanently free tier, since the only free access is a seven-day trial
- Writers and marketers outside e-commerce: every feature is built around the Shopify product page
- Organisations with formal vendor-security requirements, as no certification is claimed and no DPA is published
How to use Catalister
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Start the seven-day free trial at app.catalister.com/signup; no credit card is requested
- Sign in to your Catalister account
- Pick Shopify from the list of platforms and complete the authentication flow to connect your store
- Set your preferences, starting with pricing rules and margins
- Choose a discovery route: keyword research tool, an AliExpress or Temu URL, competitor analysis, or bulk import
- Import or select the products you want, from a supplier link, a CSV or competitor research
- Let the AI generate the listing: title, description, tags, variants and SEO structure
- Refine the output with custom templates, your brand voice and the prompt builder
- Review and edit the generated content before anything is published
- Push the listings to Shopify individually or in bulk, then use Relister for existing products and connect Google Ads to Analister
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Covers the whole chain in one place: research, import, copywriting, SEO, publication to Shopify, then Google Ads analysis
- The full suite ships with every plan; tiers differ on store count and advanced SEO options, not on access to the three tools
- Unlimited copy-and-paste import costs no credits, whatever the plan
- You keep editorial control: everything is reviewable and editable before it reaches the store
- Genuine customisation through brand voice, templates, pricing rules and a prompt builder
- European publisher with a registered company number, EEA hosting and a detailed GDPR policy, which is uncommon at this price
- Low entry point at €14.99 a month, a seven-day trial without a credit card, and cancellation at any time
Cons
- Shopify only: no other e-commerce platform is supported, and 1688 and Alibaba are marked unsupported with no dated commitment
- No permanent free plan; the only free access is a seven-day trial
- The credit model sits on top of the subscription, and 50 credits a month means 50 listings on the three cheapest plans
- No security certification is claimed, no DPA is published, and nothing is offered on request
- The vendor takes no published position on whether customer data trains its models, and documents no opt-out
- The 'Last updated' dates on the Terms and privacy policy are generated in the browser and always show the day you visit, so no real effective date exists
- Social proof is shaky: testimonial portraits come from a stock-photo service, and the homepage claims €20,000,000 per month in one section and €20,000,000 in total in another

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Catalister handles your data.
GDPR overview
Implementation is concrete and above average for a tool at this price, though unaccompanied by any certification. The publisher is established in the Netherlands, so the GDPR applies directly and Dutch law governs. The Terms state that data processing complies with GDPR requirements, with defined purposes, security measures and records of processing. The privacy policy sets out the full set of rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent), exercised via info@catalister.com, and commits to notifying the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, within 72 hours of a breach. A cookie banner separates essential, analytics, marketing and functional categories and logs when consent was given and when it expires. Two subprocessors are named: Stripe and Google Cloud Platform. Missing, however: no published DPA, no named DPO, and no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.
Who owns the data?
The Terms of Service state plainly that you keep ownership of your content and data, and grant DynamicAI only the rights it needs to run the service. Intellectual property in the platform itself stays with the vendor, who grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it; its trademarks and branding remain off-limits. Your data is processed by two named third parties: Stripe for payments and Google Cloud Platform for storage, in Google-hosted databases inside the European Economic Area. The vendor says it touches only the minimum data needed to optimise listings, does not permanently store sensitive business data, and that store access can be revoked at any time.
Reuse rights
Generated content is pushed straight into your own Shopify store and is yours to publish and sell against. Nothing in the Terms restricts commercial reuse of the titles, descriptions, tags or metafields the AI produces, and no attribution is required. You are also not obliged to publish what the model writes: the vendor stresses that you review and edit every title, description, tag and meta field before anything reaches your store, and claims roughly 90% of output is usable as-is. The obligations the Terms do impose sit on your conduct rather than on the content: give accurate information, keep your credentials secure, stay within applicable law, and neither commit fraud nor disrupt the service.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The privacy policy states that data is held in Google-hosted databases within the European Economic Area. No specific country is named, and only two third-party providers are disclosed: Stripe for payment processing and Google Cloud Platform for storage. Jurisdiction is Dutch: the Terms are governed by Dutch law, disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, and the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is offered as an alternative. The supervisory authority is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, which the publisher undertakes to notify within 72 hours of a qualifying breach. Stated safeguards include encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access control with logging and periodic review, data classification by sensitivity, regular security assessments and penetration testing, continuous monitoring, prompt patching, and backup and disaster recovery procedures. No certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is claimed, and no DPA is published. Note that the public website itself resolves to an AWS anycast address, which says nothing about where application data lives.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Catalister.
- Single-platform dependence: everything rests on Shopify, and nothing you build here is portable to another e-commerce system
- Mass-generated listings published without review can carry inaccurate descriptions or claims that breach consumer law, and the seller alone is answerable for them
- Hundreds of listings cut from the same template risk being read by search engines as thin, low-value content, which works against the SEO the tool is bought for
- Skill erosion: outsourcing product research and copywriting wholesale loosens your grip on your own catalogue and your customers' language
- Budget drift: the credit layer sits on top of the subscription, so the real monthly cost can quietly exceed the advertised price
- Store access is broad and its exact scope is not detailed; the vendor says access can be revoked at any time, but a connected app holds real power over your catalogue
- Bulk importing from AliExpress or Temu carries counterfeit, image-rights and product-compliance exposure that falls entirely on the seller, not on the tool
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low. The vendor advertises setup in five minutes and states that no experience is needed. The path is short: create an account, pick Shopify from the platform list, complete the authentication flow, then set your pricing rules and margins. Everything runs in the browser, with nothing to install locally and no extension to add. The only part that calls for a developer is the optional REST API, which exists for custom integrations rather than everyday use.

Should you pick Catalister?
Catalister does one thing, and does it broadly: it takes the Shopify product page from discovery through to publication, then hands the results to Google Ads analysis. Within that narrow perimeter the coverage is coherent, and the packaging is unusually honest for the category, since all three tools ship with every plan and the tiers differ only on store count and advanced SEO options.
The economics deserve a second look before subscribing. The two-level model, a subscription plus credits, means the three cheapest plans allow just 50 listings a month; a shop listing more than that is really buying credits, not a subscription. Anyone planning volume should price the credits first.
On trust, the picture is mixed. The good side is real and rarely found at this price: an identified European publisher, a Dutch registration number, EEA hosting, named subprocessors and a properly structured GDPR policy. Against that, there is no certification, no published DPA, and no stated position at all on whether customer data trains the models. Three smaller signals also warrant caution: the 'last updated' dates on the legal pages are generated in the browser and always show today, so no real effective date is published; the testimonial portraits come from a stock-photo library; and the homepage contradicts itself on its headline revenue figure.
The structural risk is lock-in. Everything depends on Shopify, so leaving that platform makes the tool worthless. The audience is therefore easy to name: a dropshipper or Shopify seller listing at volume who wants to stop copying and pasting, is comfortable with usage-based pricing, and does not need formal compliance paperwork. Outside that profile, look elsewhere.
