Coefficient
Coefficient is a no-code platform that connects live business data from 150+ systems to Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, where AI agents clean it, build dashboards and send alerts to finance, sales and marketing teams.
What is Coefficient?
Coefficient is a no-code data platform that lives inside the spreadsheet rather than beside it. It installs as a Google Sheets add-on and a Microsoft Excel add-in, backed by a web app used for dashboards and billing. The 2026 pitch is agentic analytics in your spreadsheet: agents sync the data, model it, build dashboards and brief you when the numbers change.
The homepage lays the promise out in four moves. Keep the spreadsheet in sync with any system; automate the spreadsheet work itself; produce BI-grade dashboards; then watch the metrics and raise the alarm. Five named agents carry that out. The Import Agent handles synchronisation across 150+ integrations sorted into eighteen categories, from CRM, ads and warehouses to finance, HR, e-commerce and project management, each available in both a Google Sheets and an Excel version. The API Agent builds an integration from an API when a niche or internal tool has no connector, and the Browser Agent scrapes a site that offers no API at all. The Sheets Assistant cleans, deduplicates, standardises, models, pivots and formats on request. The Dashboard Agent and Monitoring Agent close the loop, turning a sheet into a web dashboard and watching it afterwards.
Dashboards are built by prompt then edited by hand, with more than fifteen chart types up to funnels, heatmaps and Sankey diagrams, brand themes and logos, scheduled previews in Slack, and sharing by link with no per-viewer licence. Drill-down runs from a chart to the underlying records in the source system, and any figure can be explained in terms of its definition, calculation and filters. Row-level security serves one build to many viewers, each seeing only their slice, based on email address. Alerts are described in plain language, written up by the AI and delivered to Slack or email, with dynamic recipients on the Pro plan.
Governance covers SSO through Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace or OneLogin, Admin, Editor and Viewer roles, per-source permissions and consolidated billing on Enterprise. Coefficient Works, Inc. claims 700,000+ users and over 50,000 companies, naming Miro, Klaviyo, Lambda Labs and Kore.ai among them, and advertises a 60-second install with no credit card. Selected sources stay Enterprise-only, and Excel parity is still incomplete.

When to use Coefficient / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Coefficient is the right fit.
When to use Coefficient
- RevOps teams that run pipeline reviews, sales forecasts and KPI dashboards from a spreadsheet
- Finance teams handling month-end close, multi-entity consolidation and rolling forecasts
- Marketing teams tracking ROAS, lead generation and full-funnel reporting across ad platforms
- Data and analytics teams that want to open governed, self-serve access to business users, with SSO and per-source permissions
- Non-technical business users who currently wait on IT gatekeepers for every data pull
When not to use Coefficient
- Developers who need a public API to embed the tool in their own pipeline: none is documented
- Anyone expecting a mobile app, since Coefficient ships only as a Google Sheets add-on and an Excel add-in
- Excel-first organisations that depend on alerts or GPT Copilot, both still listed as coming soon for Excel
- Two-person teams on a tight budget, because the Starter plan is single-user and any second seat forces the Pro plan
- Companies whose core data sits in Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, SQL Server, NetSuite or Sage Intacct, as those Premium connectors are Enterprise-only
How to use Coefficient
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Click Get Started Free in the site header and enter your email address, with no credit card required
- Install the add-on from the Getting Started with Coefficient sheet in Google Sheets, or click Get It Now on the Microsoft AppSource listing for Excel
- Launch it from Extensions > Coefficient > Launch in Google Sheets, or from the new Coefficient tab in the Excel ribbon
- Sign in with your existing Google or Microsoft account, since there is no separate Coefficient login
- Pick a source among the 150+ connectors and create an import, choosing objects, reports, SOQL or SuiteQL queries, or SQL tables depending on the connector
- Schedule the refresh, manual, daily or hourly according to your plan, and switch on snapshots to keep history
- Clean and model the result with the Sheets Assistant in plain English, then build pivots and charts
- Publish a web dashboard from the sheet by prompt, then edit it and apply your colours, theme and logo
- Share the link, schedule Slack or email previews, set row-level security by email address, and describe the alert conditions you want monitored
- Write changes back to the source system on Two-Way Sync connectors, and upgrade when needed from Plans & Billing in the workspace
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Works inside the tool business teams already know, so there is no new interface to learn
- 150+ ready-made connectors that need no engineering ticket and no API documentation
- A permanent free plan and a full 30-day Pro trial, neither requiring a credit card
- Dashboards shared by link at no cost per viewer, against the USD 180-420 per user per year the site attributes to Tableau and around USD 400 to Looker
- Write-back to the source system, a feature most reporting tools leave out
- Documented security posture: SOC 2 Type II, no storage of imported data, opt-in Cloud Datasets, encrypted credentials, AWS backend inside a VPC and regular penetration testing
- Unusually complete compliance paperwork for this price bracket, with a public DPA, EU SCCs, the UK Addendum, a published sub-processor list and an explicit no-training commitment
Cons
- Per-user pricing climbs quickly, at USD 99 per user per month on Pro, capped at five users
- Premium sources such as Snowflake, Tableau, Looker, BigQuery, Databricks, SQL Server, NetSuite and Sage Intacct are reserved for Enterprise, whose price is not public
- The free plan is tightly boxed in: three standard sources, 5,000 rows per import, 50 refreshes a month, manual refresh only, and exports capped at 100 rows on the Salesforce and SQL connectors
- No automation at all on the free plan, meaning neither scheduled refreshes nor alerts
- Excel parity is incomplete, with alerts and GPT Copilot still announced as coming soon
- No public API documentation and no mobile application
- Hosting and governing law are exclusively American, with California law, no EU data residency option, and Aggregate Data retained by the vendor without any time limit
Pricing & Plans
Coefficient offers a permanently free plan at USD 0 per month. The lowest paid entry point is the Starter plan at USD 49 per month, followed by Pro at USD 99 per user per month, capped at five users. Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Coefficient handles your data.
GDPR overview
Coefficient claims GDPR compliance and backs the claim with documents rather than slogans. A Data Processing Addendum, last updated on 25 March 2026, is published on the site and incorporated into the terms; it covers the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR and several US state laws, including the CCPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA and VCDPA. International transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses of decision 2021/914 and the UK ICO Addendum, with Dutch law and jurisdiction chosen under clauses 17 and 18. Sub-processors are disclosed in a public list under a general authorisation, with change notifications. Deletion and access requests go to support@coefficient.io. Two gaps are worth naming: no Article 27 EU representative and no data protection officer are named anywhere in the privacy policy, terms, DPA or website terms, and hosting stays in the United States with no EU data residency option.
Who owns the data?
The terms draw a clear line. You keep sole ownership of your Customer Data: section 5.1.2 states that you "shall at all times retain sole ownership of your Customer Data". In return you grant Coefficient and its affiliates a non-exclusive, worldwide, fully paid, royalty-free licence to access, use, process, copy, store, modify, create derivative works from, distribute, display and transmit that data, but solely as needed to deliver the service. The privacy policy treats you as the controller and Coefficient as the processor, a role the DPA confirms, adding Service Provider status under the CCPA. The exception is Aggregate Data: anonymised, usage-derived data whose rights belong entirely to Coefficient, for any legitimate commercial purpose, with no time limit.
Reuse rights
Imports land in your own Google Sheet or Excel workbook, so you can reuse the data without asking anyone: filter it, model it, chart it, export it or fold it into another report. Two-Way Sync connectors go further and let you edit rows in the spreadsheet, then write the changes back to systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Snowflake or PostgreSQL. Dashboards can be shared by link with people who hold no licence, and row-level security decides, email address by email address, which slice each viewer sees; unlicensed teammates can read the data behind a share link but cannot edit imports or schedule refreshes. Two limits remain. Section 5.1.1 makes you warrant that you hold the rights and permissions to push the data through, and you answer for its accuracy, quality, content and legality. And section 6 keeps the product itself, interface, code and content included, as Coefficient's intellectual property.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Coefficient hosts in the United States and says so plainly: "We are based in the United States, and our Services are hosted there" (privacy policy, section 8). The backend infrastructure runs on AWS, with security groups keeping the components inside the VPC out of public reach, and credentials such as OAuth tokens, API keys and passwords are encrypted end to end. Data imported through the connectors is never stored on Coefficient's servers; only Cloud Datasets require storage, and they are opt-in and can be disabled through the Admin Controls. No EU hosting region and no data residency option are advertised. Transfers out of restricted countries rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum under section 7.2.1 of the DPA, with Dutch law and jurisdiction chosen for clauses 17 and 18, while the terms and the privacy policy are governed by California law. The vendor claims SOC 2 Type II certification and holds official vendor status on the Google Workspace Marketplace and Microsoft AppSource.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Coefficient.
- Section 5.1 grants a broad licence over your Customer Data for the purpose of delivering the service: read it before pushing sensitive records through a connector
- Anonymised Aggregate Data is claimed by the vendor with no time limit, and that right survives the end of the contract
- Connecting a spreadsheet to a CRM or a warehouse moves data from a governed perimeter into a file that is trivially easy to share, so a single share link can become a leak
- Two-Way Sync writes back to production systems from a spreadsheet, which means a copy-paste mistake can propagate to the source of truth
- Row-level security has to be configured deliberately; without it, a viewer sees the whole dataset
- Dashboards generated from a prompt invite blind trust in a number nobody has checked, even though drill-down exists to verify it
- Automatic renewal, non-refundable fees on customer-initiated cancellation, and deletion of accounts left inactive for 24 months, together with rebuilt critical reports, create real lock-in and quota dependency
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for the end user. Installation goes through the Google Sheets add-on or the Microsoft AppSource add-in, with no separate account to create: you sign in with your Google or Microsoft credentials, and the site claims a 60-second setup with no credit card. The positioning is explicitly no-code: no API documentation to read, no engineering ticket to file, and Snowflake offers a visual query builder instead of SQL. You do need access rights to the source systems and basic spreadsheet skills. Advanced setup (custom SSO, roles, per-source permissions, row-level security) sits with an administrator on the higher plans.

Should you pick Coefficient?
Coefficient answers a very specific frustration: the business team lives in a spreadsheet, the data lives somewhere else, and someone in IT stands between the two. Rather than asking finance, RevOps or marketing to learn a new BI tool, it brings 150+ systems into Google Sheets and Excel and adds agents that clean, model, publish and monitor. That framing is its strongest argument, and the economics reinforce it: dashboards are shared by link with no cost per viewer, which is where the site positions itself against Tableau and Looker.
The company behind it looks solid enough for a purchase decision. Coefficient Works, Inc. has been online since 2019, raised a USD 18 million Series A in 2022 with Battery Ventures leading, and claims more than 700,000 users and 50,000 companies with named references. Its compliance posture is above average for this segment: SOC 2 Type II, a public DPA with EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, a published sub-processor list, imported data that is never stored, and an explicit commitment not to train on customer data.
The reservations are just as concrete. Pro costs USD 99 per user per month and caps out at five users, so a growing team quickly lands in an Enterprise conversation whose price is not public, and that is also the only plan where Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or NetSuite become available. Excel parity is not finished. There is no public API and no mobile app. Hosting and governing law are American only, with no EU residency option, and anonymised Aggregate Data stays with the vendor indefinitely.
For a spreadsheet-first team that needs current data and shareable dashboards without an engineering ticket, the free plan and the 30-day Pro trial make it easy to judge on its own merits.
