Overview

What is Contents.com?

Contents.com is the product of Contents S.p.A., an Italian company founded in Milan in 2021 by Massimiliano Squillace, with further offices in Las Vegas, Madrid and Doha. It presents itself not as another text generator but as a work execution platform: the point is to run content operations end to end, from brief to approved publication, across markets and languages.

The platform is deliberately model-agnostic. Instead of shipping a model of its own, it orchestrates Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Mistral, picking one per task and claiming no vendor lock-in. Three tools are in production. AI Writer covers SEO articles of up to 2,000 words, advertising copy, product sheets, marketing emails and a summariser and rephraser. AI Art produces on-brand visuals from a description, including image-to-image. The HTML Editor builds pages and emails through conversation rather than code. Brand Voice applies the company's tone to every output, and a personal Workspace adapts to that style. AI Chat, AI Translation and Audio to Text appear in the menu but are still marked available soon.

What separates the Enterprise tier from a writing assistant is governance. It adds a multi-provider AI pipeline builder, conditional logic and validation gates, a reusable workflow library, multi-level approvals, cross-team task assignment, real-time notifications and a full audit trail, granular sharing permissions, high-volume batch generation and a self-service knowledge base organised by brand, project or department.

Coverage is a selling point: more than 25 languages, six of them premium — English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese — trained on native datasets, plus fifteen Arabic dialects. The company claims over 3,000 customers, 500,000+ AI outputs a month and 100% enterprise retention, and names Dolce & Gabbana and Porsche among its clients. Buyers can run the platform themselves or have Contents operate it on their behalf, and a network of freelance Authors backs the software with human writing.

Access is through a browser at app.contents.ai. There is no mobile app and no public API documentation, despite the API integration advertised on the Enterprise page.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Model-agnostic by design: five providers orchestrated, so no dependency on a single model vendor
  • Unusually broad language coverage, with more than 25 languages, six premium and fifteen Arabic dialects
  • Governance features rarely found in content tools: approval chains, validation gates, granular permissions and audit logs
  • European publisher, with controller and processor roles written into the terms under Regulation (EU) 2016/679
  • Low entry price alongside a genuine enterprise offer, so the same platform suits a freelance and a group
  • Permanent Freemium plan and a free trial, which makes the tool assessable at no cost
  • Public affiliate programme paying a 30% recurring commission

Cons

  • No public API documentation, although the Enterprise page sells integration through an API
  • Prices are absent from the Plans page itself, which renders its grid in JavaScript; they appear only in the FAQ
  • Plan names contradict each other across pages: Pro and Pro+Collaboration, Starter, then Basic, Intermediate and Advanced
  • No published commitment on where data is hosted: AWS and Microsoft Azure are named without any country
  • Nothing is stated about training models on customer data, and no opt-out is documented
  • No security certification on display: no SOC 2, no ISO 27001, no trust or security page
  • No mobile app, and three modules already in the navigation are still marked available soon

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Contents.com handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR is addressed concretely rather than in passing. Section 17 of the terms states that processing follows Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and Regulation (EU) 2016/679, then splits the roles: Contents is an independent controller for the data needed to deliver the service, while third-party data entered by the client is processed by Contents as a processor. Section 17.6 binds sub-processors to article 28 obligations and keeps Contents liable to the controller. The cookie policy was drafted on articles 13 and 14 of the same Regulation and last updated on 20 July 2023; the privacy policy, last updated 5 December 2024, names Contents S.p.A. as owner and data controller and lists every third-party service used. As the publisher is established in Milan, no article 27 representative is required. No DPO is named and no security certification is displayed.

Who owns the data?

Under the terms and conditions, the human Authors who write commissioned content assign their exploitation rights to Contents, which in turn assigns them to the client when the Content Creation Service is sold; only the moral rights that law makes non-transferable stay with the author. For personal data, section 17 splits the roles. Contents is an independent data controller for the data it needs to run the service, while the client remains the independent controller of any third-party data it enters and appoints Contents as its data processor. The privacy policy names Contents S.p.A. as owner and data controller. No return licence over generated content is claimed anywhere in the contract.

Reuse rights

For content produced through the Content Creation Service, the terms transfer the exploitation rights to the client, so the client may use, publish and commercialise the result without asking for further permission; only the moral rights that law places outside any assignment remain with the author. Nothing in the terms or the privacy policy restricts what the client does with generated text or images, and nothing reserves a licence back to Contents. Personal data entered by the client stays under the client's own controllership, with Contents acting as processor, bound by the article 28 obligations it also passes on to its sub-processors and remaining liable to the controller for them.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
No retention period for customer data is published. Neither the privacy policy nor the terms state how long accounts, content or personal data are kept, and no anonymisation policy is described. The only durations the site publishes concern trackers, in the cookie policy: two years for the Google Analytics _ga cookie and for IDE, fifteen minutes for test_cookie, no expiry for localStorage and until the tab closes for sessionStorage. Deletion is handled at account level: the Deactivate Account option in the My Profile page of the application deactivates the account immediately, and processing then follows the privacy policy; alternatively a written request can be sent to support@contents.com. The privacy policy was last updated on 5 December 2024 and the cookie policy on 20 July 2023.

Hosting summary

The privacy policy names the infrastructure providers but not their location: under Hosting and backend infrastructure it lists Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, with no country or region attached. Traffic is served behind Cloudflare and the domain resolves to an anycast Cloudflare address geolocated in the United States, which says nothing about where user data actually rests. The Place of processing notes mentioning Ireland in the cookie policy concern Google's tracking services rather than the hosting of customer content, and must not be read as a residency commitment. What is established is the legal framework rather than the physical one: the publisher, Contents S.p.A., is established in Milan, and section 17 of the terms places processing under Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and Regulation (EU) 2016/679. A buyer with a firm EU-only requirement will have to obtain that commitment contractually, because the site does not make it.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Contents.com.

  • The terms let Contents change the services and their prices unilaterally, and let it keep sums already paid as a penalty if the client is in breach
  • Legal identity is blurred: the terms name the counterparty Contents.ai while the site trades as Contents.com, so check which entity you are signing with
  • Nothing is published about model training, so sensitive briefs and internal knowledge should be treated as data whose downstream use you cannot fully verify
  • There is no data-residency commitment, which matters if your own compliance framework requires hosting inside the European Union
  • A Fair Usage Policy allows restrictions on accounts that exceed unspecified thresholds for extended periods
  • Automated brand and compliance checks breed misplaced confidence: validation gates catch what they were configured to catch, not what nobody thought of
  • Producing content at this volume erodes the habit of writing and reviewing attentively; an audit trail proves a process ran, not that a human read the output
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Low for everyday use. Sign-up is self-service, the free trial needs no installation, and the normal workflow — pick a template, write a prompt, iterate — requires no technical skill; the HTML Editor exists precisely so that pages can be built without code. Enterprise deployment is another matter: multi-provider pipelines, validation gates, approval chains, granular permissions and a knowledge base all have to be configured, and that route runs through a demo and a sales conversation. With no public API documentation, there is no path to integrating the platform on your own.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Contents.com?
A generative AI platform published by Contents S.p.A. that companies use to produce marketing and business content. Rather than supplying a model of its own, it orchestrates several third-party models and wraps them in approval workflows, brand governance and auditability.
Which AI models does it run on?
Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Mistral. The platform selects the right one for each task and describes itself as model-agnostic, with no vendor lock-in.
How much does Contents.com cost?
The Freemium plan is free and capped at eight generations a day. Pro costs EUR 13 per month billed annually or EUR 19 monthly; Pro+Collaboration costs EUR 69 per month billed annually or EUR 99 monthly. Enterprise pricing is quoted on request.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
Both. The Freemium plan is permanent, and a free trial including AI credits is offered on the paid plans.
How many languages are supported?
More than 25. Six of them — English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese — are premium and trained on native datasets, and fifteen Arabic dialects are also covered.
Is there an API?
The Enterprise page advertises integration through an API, but no API documentation page is published on the site, so the interface cannot be assessed from public sources.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Contents.com is used in a browser through app.contents.ai, and no App Store or Google Play listing was found.
Who is behind the tool?
Contents S.p.A., an Italian company headquartered at Via Paolo da Cannobio 9 in Milan, founded in 2021 by Massimiliano Squillace, with further offices in Las Vegas, Madrid and Doha.
How do I delete my account?
Choose Deactivate Account in the My Profile page of the application, which deactivates it immediately, or send a written request to support@contents.com.
Is there an affiliate programme?
Yes. It pays 30% on each subscription taken out through your link, the commission recurs for as long as the referral stays subscribed, and payouts start once earnings reach EUR 25.
Conclusion

Should you pick Contents.com?

Contents.com is best understood by what it declines to be. It does not sell a model, and it does not really sell a writing assistant either: it sells the layer above them, the approval chains, the brand rules, the audit trail and the multi-market orchestration that turn a good draft into something a regulated company can actually publish. For an organisation whose bottleneck is governance rather than wording, that is a genuinely different proposition, and the language coverage, fifteen Arabic dialects included, is unusually deep for a European vendor. The company behind it looks solid on paper: Contents S.p.A., founded in Milan in 2021, USD 25M raised, customers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Porsche, and the roles set out by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 written into the contract rather than gestured at. The gap sits between the enterprise pitch and what the site actually documents. API integration is advertised, yet no API documentation exists. The pricing page renders its own grid in JavaScript, so the only readable prices sit in the FAQ, where the plan names contradict both the Plans page and the affiliate page. Nothing is published about where data is hosted, nothing about whether customer data trains the models, and no security certification is on display. Three modules sit in the navigation marked available soon. For an individual or a small team the calculation is easy: a permanent free plan and EUR 13 a month on annual billing make the tool cheap to try. For an enterprise buyer it is a different exercise, because the answers on hosting, training and certification will have to come from a sales conversation rather than the website. Test it on a real workflow before committing.
