GDPR overview
Implementation is concrete but limited to the commercial relationship. Copan Italia S.p.A. publishes a privacy policy issued under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, naming itself controller for the group. It sets out the purposes, the legal bases under Article 6(b) and (c), the categories of recipients, and the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, exercisable by registered letter to the Legal Department in Brescia or by email to privacy@copangroup.com. It confirms the right to complain to the supervisory authority under Article 77, and states that no automated decision-making under Article 22 applies to that personal data. Copan expressly declines to appoint a Data Protection Officer, explaining that its processing does not meet the Article 37 thresholds. The company never claims to be "GDPR compliant" in those words, and publishes nothing about patient data handled by PhenoMATRIX inside a laboratory.
Who owns the data?
The published documents are commercial rather than clinical. Copan Italia S.p.A. names itself the data controller for customer and supplier personal data and states that the website is its exclusive property. The general sales conditions add that any intellectual property arising from adapting the products to a customer's needs belongs to Copan, and that each party otherwise keeps the rights in its own materials. Nothing published states who owns the plate images, the interpretation rules a laboratory encodes, or the results PhenoMATRIX generates inside the customer's own laboratory. That silence should be resolved contractually before deployment rather than assumed either way.
Reuse rights
Copan does not publish any licence granting end users the right to reuse its material.
