Dashworks
Dashworks is an AI assistant that answers workplace questions by searching a team's connected apps in real time. It covers wikis, chat, CRM, code and support tools, returning cited answers without indexing or duplicating company data.
What is Dashworks?
Dashworks is an AI search assistant built to answer the questions employees ask at work. Rather than making people hunt through a dozen tools, it connects to the applications a company already uses and answers in natural language, attaching the source links behind every response.
Its defining technical choice is the absence of indexing. Where classic enterprise search copies and indexes company data, Dashworks queries each connected application live through its API at the moment a question is asked. The vendor argues this removes three weaknesses at once: answers are never stale because there is no sync delay, setup takes minutes instead of days because there is nothing to index first, and duplicated data cannot leak because it never exists. Access permissions are read from the source applications in real time, so each person sees only what they were already allowed to see.
More than sixty integrations are available, covering wikis and documents (Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint), messaging (Slack, Gmail, Microsoft Teams), CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive), project management (Jira, Linear, Asana), support (Zendesk, Intercom, Front), code (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket), HRIS, design tools and public websites. Teams reach the assistant through a web app, a Slackbot that works in direct messages and channels, a Chrome extension that searches from the address bar, and an API.
On top of search sit customisable bots: more than twenty ready-made templates cover onboarding, HR policies, IT helpdesk, code review, security questionnaires, RFP drafting and web research, and teams can build their own by choosing sources and writing instructions. Several language models are selectable, including GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini Pro and Llama 3, with o3-mini-high, Gemini 2.0 Flash, DeepSeek R1 and Grok 2 added in January 2025. Deep Research, launched in April 2025, runs multi-step investigations across organisational knowledge.
The publisher is Dashworks Technologies, Inc., founded around 2020 in San Francisco by Prasad Kawthekar and Praty Sharma. Security claims include SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA and AES-256 encryption. In April 2025, HubSpot announced an agreement to acquire the company.
What it does
- Answer questions in natural language from the company's own knowledge, with source citations
- Search every connected app at once — wikis, chat, CRM, tickets, code and files
- Build custom AI bots scoped to a team, a topic or a specific set of sources
- Reply to questions inside Slack, in direct messages or in team channels
- Run multi-step Deep Research across the organisation's knowledge
- Switch between leading language models such as GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini Pro and Llama 3
- Query bots programmatically through the API, or wire them into tools via Zapier
When to use Dashworks / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Dashworks is the right fit.
When to use Dashworks
- Customer support teams needing instant access to past tickets, help docs and product wikis
- Sales teams that want to self-serve answers to prospect questions without waiting on colleagues
- Engineering teams handling on-call issues and bugs across code, docs, tickets and Slack threads
- Product managers pulling scattered product data into one searchable knowledge base
- SMB and mid-market companies whose knowledge is fragmented across dozens of SaaS tools
When not to use Dashworks
- Individuals after a personal assistant: Dashworks is designed and priced per seat, for teams
- Teams that need a permanent free plan, since only a 14-day trial is offered
- Groups under ten people wanting the Business tier, which enforces a ten-seat minimum
- Users who need a native mobile app, as only web, Slack and a Chrome extension are available
- Organisations requiring EU data residency or a published DPA, neither of which is offered
How to use Dashworks
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Sign up with a work email address; a login link and a temporary code arrive by email
- Start the 14-day trial, which opens automatically at registration and needs no credit card
- Connect your applications point-and-click, with no initial synchronisation to wait through
- Add uploaded files and public websites as additional knowledge sources
- Ask a first question in natural language and check the citations attached to the answer
- Create bots by selecting their sources, writing instructions and sharing them with the team
- Install the Slackbot to get answers in direct messages and team channels
- Deploy the Chrome extension to search from the address bar and the new tab page
- Configure administration: SSO, SCIM, verified domains, analytics and custom instructions
- Call bots from your own tools through the API, or connect them with the Zapier integration
Pros & Cons
Pros

- Access rights update instantly and stay aligned with the source systems
- Setup takes minutes, with no initial synchronisation to sit through
- More than sixty integrations cover most common SaaS stacks
- Public, readable pricing with no seat minimum on the entry plan
- Credible security posture: SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, AES-256 and annual penetration tests
Cons
- No permanent free plan — only a 14-day trial
- The Business tier requires a minimum of ten seats
- API access is sold as an add-on rather than included
- No native mobile app: web, Slack and Chrome extension only
- No Data Processing Agreement is published or advertised on the accessible pages
- Data is hosted in the United States only, with no announced EU residency option
- Public changelog frozen since January 2025, and HubSpot's April 2025 acquisition leaves the standalone product's future unclear
Pricing & Plans
There is no permanent free plan. Dashworks offers a 14-day free trial that requires no credit card, after which a paid subscription is necessary. The lowest price point is USD 10.00 per seat per month on the Team plan with annual billing, or USD 12.00 per seat per month when billed monthly.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Dashworks handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly and backed by concrete mechanisms. The privacy policy, last updated 3 April 2025, states that Dashworks complies fully with the GDPR and relies on the June 2021 Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EU to the United States, with the customer acting as controller and exporter and Dashworks as processor and importer. Data subject rights are listed one by one: access, rectification, objection, erasure, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent and the right to complain to a supervisory authority, with a stated 30-day response time. A Privacy and Data Protection Officer, Praty Sharma, is named, and privacy@dashworks.ai is the contact point. One gap stands out: no EU representative under Article 27 is designated anywhere on the site.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service, customers keep ownership of their data. Users — or, for business accounts, the customer organisation — own all rights, title and interest in the input they submit, and own the output the service returns, to the extent the law allows. Dashworks receives a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence limited to that customer's own workspace, and commits to using the content for the benefit of the customer rather than any third party. Beyond improving the service, Dashworks may use content only to provide and maintain the platform, comply with the law and enforce its policies. On termination it deletes or returns the content within a reasonable period.
Reuse rights
Customers may reuse their own input and output freely: ownership stays with them and no permission from Dashworks is required. In the other direction, the terms let Dashworks use input, output and content to develop and improve its services and model performance — unless the customer opts out. Opting out is explicit and manual: an email to support@dashworks.ai stating that intent is enough, after which the content is excluded from service improvement. Content created by or for one user is never shared with another, and the AI subprocessors Dashworks relies on are contractually barred from training their own models on customer data.

Hosting summary
Dashworks hosts and processes data in the United States. The privacy policy states that the company is headquartered there, that most of its operations are located there, and that its servers and third-party hosting partners are in the US; visitors from elsewhere consent to that transfer. Amazon Web Services, in the North Virginia region, is named as the infrastructure subprocessor, alongside Stripe, Google Cloud, Segment and Amplitude. The security page describes physically secured AWS facilities with 24/7 on-site security, in data centres certified SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and HITRUST, with centrally managed and hardened server images and continuous threat monitoring. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 in transit, on a fault-tolerant infrastructure with backup policies and a disaster recovery plan. Two points deserve attention: because Dashworks does not index connected applications, the bulk of company content is never copied onto its infrastructure at all; and no European data residency option is announced, EU transfers relying on the Standard Contractual Clauses. Deployment on the customer's own cloud infrastructure is also offered.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Dashworks.
- An assistant that answers instantly can erode the habit of reading source documents; the citations are there to be opened, not ignored
- Generated answers are probabilistic, and the privacy policy warns explicitly that output may be factually wrong — verification remains a human duty
- By default the terms allow your content to be used to improve the service; excluding it requires a deliberate email request
- Making one assistant the front door to all company knowledge concentrates a great deal of sensitive information behind a single access path
- Answers inherit the quality of the sources: outdated wikis and contradictory documents will produce confident but wrong replies
- No EU representative under Article 27 is designated, and all data is processed in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses
- The HubSpot acquisition announced in April 2025 leaves the roadmap, pricing and long-term availability of the standalone product uncertain
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low for a team, moderate for an administrator. Registration needs only an email address, and the trial opens automatically without a credit card. Applications connect point-and-click, and because nothing is indexed there is no initial synchronisation to wait through — the vendor advertises setup within minutes. Rolling out the Slackbot and the Chrome extension across an organisation calls for an administrator and follows documented guides, and a guided setup call can be booked. SSO, SCIM and verified domains are Enterprise features requiring identity-provider work. Only the API, with key authentication and rate limits, needs a developer.

Should you pick Dashworks?
Dashworks answers a real and common problem: in a company running dozens of SaaS tools, the answer to a question almost always exists somewhere, and almost nobody can find it. Its response is unusually well argued. By querying each connected application live instead of copying and indexing its contents, it removes the sync delay that makes classic enterprise search return stale answers, avoids duplicating sensitive data, and keeps access permissions aligned with the source systems at all times. Setup in minutes rather than days follows from the same design choice.
The product around that engine is mature. Sixty-plus integrations cover most common stacks, answers carry their sources, bots can be scoped to a team or a topic, and the assistant reaches people where they already work — in Slack, in the browser address bar, or through an API. Pricing is public and readable, starting at USD 10 per seat per month annually with no seat minimum on the entry plan, and the security posture is credible for a company of this size.
The reservations are real too. There is no permanent free plan, no mobile app and no published Data Processing Agreement, and data is hosted in the United States with no announced European residency option. The Business tier imposes a ten-seat minimum, and API access is billed separately.
The largest question is not technical. In April 2025, HubSpot announced an agreement to acquire Dashworks, and the whole team joined. The site still sells its three plans, but the public changelog has not moved since January 2025 and the API documentation is a year old. Anyone considering a multi-year commitment should confirm with the vendor that the standalone product is still sold and developed before signing.
