Overview

What is Dcipher Analytics?

Dcipher Analytics is a SaaS platform built by Dcipher Analytics AB, a Swedish company founded in December 2018, with offices in Stockholm and Istanbul and staff across Sweden and Turkey. Its subject is narrow and deliberate: unstructured text. The platform gathers it, cleans it, analyses it and turns it into reports, positioning itself as an end-to-end route from raw documents to a decision — available as a tool, an API, or finished insights.

The offer splits into three products pitched at different levels of expertise. Dcipher Workflows is the entry point: a catalogue of ready-made workflows for competitive intelligence, media monitoring, trend detection, thematic mapping or survey analysis, configured through a step-by-step wizard with no coding, run once or scheduled daily, weekly or monthly. Dcipher Insight Booster automates the research cycle itself, deploying objective-driven research agents — by the hundred in parallel, through a research matrix — across entities, languages and markets, feeding persistent knowledge bases, a trend radar and semantic question-answering, then drafting reports with full source attribution. The vendor claims this removes 70 to 80 percent or more of manual research and synthesis work. Dcipher Studio is the technical tier: a drag-and-drop pipeline builder that can also be scripted, running on Apache Spark and a microservices architecture to scale to millions of documents, with sentiment, emotion, entity, category, stance and subjectivity models, supervised and unsupervised classifiers trained with a human in the loop, burst and trend detection, fuzzy matching and data wrangling.

Material comes in as PDF, Word, TXT, CSV, Excel, JSON or TSV, from a data lake, from an archive of more than 220,000 news and social media sources, or from agents sent out to the open web. Ten named solutions sit on top, from automated online research to custom chatbots. The common thread is traceability: every insight can be followed back to the document it came from, which is what makes the output defensible in audited or regulated settings. Access is browser-based only and in English, with a Knowledge Bases API for programmatic use.

What it does

  • Send objective-driven AI agents to research a question across the open web, in several languages at once
  • Generate complete reports from large text volumes, with every statement linked back to its source
  • Monitor competitors, stakeholders, media and social conversations on a continuous schedule
  • Map a corpus visually into content landscapes, semantic networks and topic clusters
  • Analyse free-form survey responses and open-ended customer feedback at volume
  • Detect emerging trends, weak signals and narrative shifts through a trend radar
  • Build custom NLP pipelines, or query a knowledge base by semantic search and chat

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Covers the whole chain — collection, cleaning, thematic analysis, synthesis and finished report — rather than one step of it
  • Every insight is traceable back to its source document, which makes the output auditable
  • Three product tiers serve the non-technical user and the data science team from the same platform
  • Pricing is public and precise: amounts in euros, per-unit rates and per-tier quotas are all published
  • The contract favours the customer: data ownership stays with them, the vendor is a processor, incidents are notified within 24 hours and exports are free within seven business days
  • EU publisher under Swedish law, with GDPR compliance claimed explicitly in the privacy policy
  • The 14-day trial needs no credit card, and students, teachers and academic researchers can request a discount

Cons

  • The entry paid plan is EUR 299 per month billed annually, and there is no permanent free plan
  • Starter, Pro and Wizard are limited to one seat each, so genuine team use means moving to Enterprise
  • No data processing agreement, subprocessor list, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is published
  • The hosting country is never stated: Google Cloud is named, the jurisdiction is not
  • No named third-party integration or connector is published, only generic categories
  • Support runs through a single generic email address and a help centre, with no dedicated support channel shown
  • Subscriptions renew automatically, cancellation requires 30 days' written notice, and no refund is given mid-period

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Dcipher Analytics handles your data.

GDPR overview

Concrete and explicit. The privacy policy says the company has invested to comply fully with the national, European and international framework and with GDPR 679/2016. The terms allocate roles clearly: the customer is Data Controller, Dcipher the Data Processor, and the vendor undertakes to flag any instruction it believes unlawful and to suspend processing that would breach the GDPR or the AI Act. Security incidents must be notified within 24 hours. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection are exercised by email; one copy of the processed data is free, further copies cost EUR 15. The minimum age is 16, and cookie handling cites Directive 2002/58/EC as amended. The publisher is established in Sweden, so no Article 27 representative is needed. No DPA, subprocessor list or security certification is published.

Who owns the data?

Under the terms of service, all User Data remains the exclusive property of the customer, and Dcipher Analytics AB explicitly claims no ownership over anything uploaded. Customers likewise keep every right to the content they submit, and stay responsible for its legality and intellectual property status. The vendor's own property is limited to the Service itself, its software, designs and documentation, which remain with Dcipher or its licensors. Access is narrow: user-specific content is visible only to the customer and its designated users, and to authorised employees when handling a request. On written request, a full export is supplied free of charge within seven business days.

Reuse rights

Customers may reuse their own outputs freely, since they retain all rights to the content they upload and to the User Data the Service generates from it. The subscription itself is non-exclusive, non-transferable and limited to internal business use, so reselling or redistributing the platform is prohibited, as is systematically scraping the Service. On the vendor side the constraint is tight: Dcipher acts as a data processor, works only on the customer's documented instructions, and undertakes not to process data for any purpose other than delivering the Service. It also states it will not sell, use or distribute customer content outside that purpose, except where the law requires it. Neither document mentions training models on customer data at any point.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept until the person concerned or the controller asks for it to be deleted, and in no case for longer than five years after the last use of the service. When an account is closed, the platform may remove comments, posts and other content without prior notice. On termination of the subscription the terms are more precise: a final export of User Data is supplied, then all User Data is permanently deleted within a commercially reasonable period, unless the law requires it to be retained. A free export in a common electronic format is available on written request within seven business days, and daily backups run for the duration of the subscription. Erasure and restriction rights are exercised by email. No separate retention period is published for logs, backups or knowledge bases.
Trains on customer data
No

Hosting summary

The privacy policy states that personal data entered on the platform is stored on Google Cloud, and that the platform is housed in secure data centre infrastructure controlled by Dcipher Analytics AB, based in Stockholm. Beyond that, no hosting country or region is declared anywhere on the site: Google Cloud is named, the jurisdiction is not. The Studio product page mentions that cloud-native deployment allows data residency flexibility, without naming which regions are on offer, and the privacy policy warns that providers involved in delivering the service may be established in the United States or elsewhere outside the European Economic Area. Data is described as held on an encrypted server, reachable only by authorised employees and only when handling a request, with SSL and HTTPS in transit plus controls against SQL injection, cross-site scripting and session hijacking. Daily backups and recovery protocols run for the duration of the subscription. As a factual aside, a network lookup carried out for this review resolved the website to an IP address in Belgium on Google infrastructure — but that describes the web server, not where customer data lives.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Dcipher Analytics.

  • Automated synthesis makes it easy to accept a conclusion without reading the material underneath; the source links exist precisely so that they get followed, and a team that stops opening them loses the safeguard
  • Research agents pick their own strategy, so what they never looked for leaves no trace in the output — an absent finding can quietly be mistaken for an absent fact
  • Producing hundreds of reports cheaply tempts an organisation to substitute volume for judgement, and analytical skill erodes when the hard part is always delegated
  • The publisher disclaims responsibility for the customer's own legal compliance when using AI output, and supplies the service as is, with no warranty of accuracy
  • Prices shown by default are the annual-billing figures; the monthly option costs more, and VAT is added according to the billing country
  • Personal data may be kept for up to five years after the last use of the service, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in writing 30 days ahead
  • No hosting jurisdiction, subprocessor list or security certification is published, which is a real gap for anyone handling sensitive or regulated material
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

It depends entirely on which product you use. Workflows requires no technical skill at all: a step-by-step wizard configures even complex tasks, and nothing is installed since access is through the browser. Insight Booster sits in the middle, mixing visual and programmatic tools to build and schedule research pipelines. Studio is the demanding tier, aimed at technical teams comfortable with classifiers, embeddings, clustering and Spark-scale processing, and it can be scripted as well as dragged and dropped. A help centre of roughly 105 articles and a 14-day trial without a credit card make evaluation straightforward.

How much does the cheapest paid plan cost?
The Starter plan is EUR 299 per month, billed annually. VAT and other taxes apply according to the billing country.
Who owns the data I upload?
You do. The terms of service state that all User Data remains the exclusive property of the customer, and that Dcipher claims no ownership over anything uploaded.
Can Dcipher use my data for other purposes?
No. The terms limit processing to delivering the Service, and state that the vendor will not sell, use or distribute customer content for any other purpose except where the law requires it.
Is there an API?
Yes. A Knowledge Bases API provides programmatic access, and it is documented in the help centre.
Is a student or academic discount available?
Yes. Students, teachers and academic researchers can request one by signing up with an email from an accredited academic institution and providing proof of their status.
Where is my data hosted?
The privacy policy names Google Cloud as the storage platform, but no hosting country or region is stated anywhere on the site.
How long is my data kept?
Until you or the controller ask for deletion, and in any case no longer than five years after the last use of the service. On termination a final export is provided and the data is then permanently deleted.
What is the minimum age?
Sixteen. The platform is addressed exclusively to people who have reached the age of 16 and states that it does not keep information about anyone younger.
Is there a mobile app?
None is published on the App Store or Google Play. Access is through the browser, although the terms of service do mention approved mobile apps.
Conclusion

Should you pick Dcipher Analytics?

Dcipher Analytics is an enterprise tool with a narrow and well-chosen subject: making sense of large volumes of unstructured text. What distinguishes it is less any single feature than the completeness of the chain it covers — collection, cleaning, thematic analysis, synthesis and a finished report — combined with source traceability at every step. For work that has to be defended to a client, a regulator or a board, being able to follow a conclusion back to the document it came from matters more than raw speed.

The pricing is candid and high. At EUR 299 per month billed annually for a single seat, this is not a tool an individual analyst buys casually, and the absence of any permanent free plan makes that positioning explicit. It is priced for teams whose research time is expensive enough to justify automating it, which is precisely the audience the site addresses.

The legal position is unusually clear and favourable: the customer owns their data, the vendor acts as a processor bound to the purpose of delivering the service, incidents are notified within 24 hours, and exports are free within seven business days, all under Swedish law with an explicit GDPR claim.

What is missing is procurement detail rather than product detail. No data processing agreement, subprocessor list, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is published, and the hosting country is never stated — Google Cloud is named, the jurisdiction is not. Any organisation with a security review to pass should raise these points before signing. The 14-day trial without a credit card, and the live demo, make that verification cheap to carry out.
