Deciphr
Deciphr turns a single audio, video or text upload into a full set of B2B content assets — transcripts, summaries, chapters, quotes, articles, newsletters, captions, audiograms and video reels — generated in minutes without writing a single prompt.
What is Deciphr?
Deciphr is a web-based content repurposing platform published by Deciphr Corporation Pty Ltd, a company registered in Melbourne, Australia. The marketing site sits on www.deciphr.ai while the product itself runs in the browser at app.deciphr.ai. Its stated promise, headlined as Deciphr 2.0, is to turn any audio, video or text file into a batch of B2B content assets.
The working principle is a single upload that triggers everything at once. You give Deciphr a recording — a podcast episode, a webinar, a meeting — and it returns more than ten kinds of derived content without you writing a prompt: session recaps, quotes, timestamped chapters, articles, white papers, FAQs, newsletters, landing pages, social captions, transcripts, audiograms and video reels. Accepted formats include MP3, MP4, WAV, FLAC, DOC, DOCX and TXT, and material can also be pulled from a YouTube URL or an RSS feed. A bulk importer handles an entire channel or playlist in one go.
Around that core sit several named modules. Content Writer and Article Writer produce the written pieces; Audiograms, Video Reels, Transcripts and Social Captions handle the media outputs. The AI Assistant is a chat interface for editing: ask it to shift tone, change style, apply a template or add headings and bold, and revert to the original if you dislike the result. A Dictionary stores proprietary terminology and a Writing Style setting holds a brand voice, which matters for agencies running several clients at once. Planner and Search complete the set, and an interactive library lets you chat with your files and folders to summarise or reorganise them.
The company advertises more than 23,000 users, 2.5 million minutes processed and over 100 million words transcribed, and claims 75-plus unique assets regenerated from one file in seconds. A public gallery shows real outputs, including summaries of an Alphabet quarterly report and a GitLab staff meeting. Nine solution pages address podcasters, influencers, education, marketing agencies, thought leaders, consultants, B2B and B2C brands, and PR agencies.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Deciphr handles your data.
GDPR overview
Deciphr's privacy notice, last updated on 6 January 2023, addresses the GDPR and UK GDPR directly. It sets out the legal bases relied on — consent, performance of a contract, legal obligations and vital interests — and grants users in the EEA, the UK and Canada the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, plus withdrawal of consent at any time. It links to the European Commission's list of supervisory authorities for complaints, and gives the Swiss authority's details. Requests go to hello+privacy@deciphr.ai. Separate sections cover California (CCPA) and Virginia (CDPA). Two gaps matter: no Article 27 EU representative is designated and no data protection officer is named. The platform is hosted in Australia, and the terms state that continued use means accepting the transfer of your data there.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms and conditions you keep ownership of the files and text you upload, but you grant Deciphr Corporation Pty Ltd an unusually broad licence over them: to host, use, copy, reproduce, disclose, sell, resell, publish, broadcast, retitle, archive, store, cache, publicly perform and display, reformat, translate, transmit and excerpt your contributions. The same licence extends to your company logo, your brand marks and your likeness, and to content you publish about Deciphr on public platforms. You are asked to waive your moral rights. Ownership therefore stays with you, while the commercial latitude granted to the vendor is close to unlimited.
Reuse rights
Nothing in the published terms restricts what you may do with the outputs Deciphr generates from your own uploads. The site states that your files are private and can only be accessed by you and the people you choose to share them with, and that Deciphr does not sell your information to third-party companies. On the vendor's side, the privacy notice reserves the right to collect and process non-identifiable information in order to improve and train its algorithms, and using the service counts as agreeing to that; data obtained through Google Workspace APIs is explicitly excluded from generalised AI or ML model training. Personal information may also be shared during a merger or sale of assets, with Google Maps Platform APIs, and with the company's affiliates, which include its parent company and any subsidiaries.

Hosting summary
Deciphr states in its terms and conditions that the platform is hosted in Australia. Users connecting from any other region are told that continued use means transferring their data to Australia and agreeing to have it processed there. No alternative region or data residency option is offered, which matters for European or North American buyers with residency requirements. The publisher, Deciphr Corporation Pty Ltd, is itself registered in Australia with a Melbourne address, and the terms are governed by Australian law with arbitration seated in Melbourne. No subprocessor list and no data centre inventory are published; the privacy notice names only Stripe, which stores payment data, and Google Maps Platform APIs. One technical caveat: the domain's A record resolves to an address geolocated in the United States on an Amazon anycast node. That is the web front end, not a statement about where user content is stored, and it should not be read as contradicting the Australian hosting claim.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Deciphr.
- The terms grant a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable and sublicensable licence over your uploads, including the right to sell and resell them, and ask you to waive your moral rights
- Non-identifiable information drawn from your content is used to train Deciphr's algorithms, and no opt-out is documented
- Publishing at volume becomes easy, and the temptation is to ship more content than you have actually read; an unreviewed AI summary still carries your name
- Leaning on generated show notes and articles erodes the habit of listening back and writing yourself, which is the editorial judgement that made the material worth repurposing
- Data is hosted in Australia only, and continued use is treated as consent to transfer your material there
- Liability is capped at six months of fees or 120 USD, and disputes go to binding arbitration seated in Melbourne
- Legal documents have not been revised since 2023 and several navigation pages return errors, so published terms may lag actual practice
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Deciphr is a browser application: there is nothing to install, no API key to obtain and no connector to configure. You sign up with an email address, upload a file or paste a YouTube or RSS link, and generate in one click — no prompt has to be written. The only optional configuration is editorial rather than technical: the Dictionary, which holds proprietary terminology, and Writing Style, which stores a brand voice. The site claims its interface is designed to be usable by all creators, including those with disabilities.

Should you pick Deciphr?
Deciphr is a focused tool rather than a general-purpose assistant, and that focus is its main argument. It does one thing thoroughly: take a long recording and turn it into the dozen derived pieces a content team would otherwise assemble by hand over a day. For a podcast producer, an agency juggling several clients, or a B2B team sitting on a library of webinars, that is a real saving, and the permanent free plan means the quality of the output can be judged before any money changes hands. Paid entry at 29 USD per month, with a published ceiling at 199 USD, keeps the commitment modest.
The reservations are worth weighing. There is no API and no mobile app, so Deciphr has to be used as it is rather than fitted into an existing workflow. The legal documents were last revised in 2023, and the terms grant the vendor an unusually wide licence over uploaded contributions, including the right to sell and resell them. Data governance is light for an enterprise buyer: no data processing agreement, no published subprocessor list, no security certification, hosting only in Australia, and no documented way to keep your material out of algorithm training. Several pages advertised in the site navigation return errors, which says something about how closely the site is maintained.
Read together, Deciphr suits individual creators, small teams and agencies who value speed and breadth of output over integration and contractual guarantees. Organisations with a procurement checklist will find the paperwork thin. The company behind it is at least identifiable and reachable, with a published Melbourne address — more than many tools in this category offer.
