Demi
Demi is a native macOS AI teammate for go-to-market teams. It drafts email replies, chases stalled follow-ups and prepares meetings from your Gmail, calendar, Slack and CRM, and always asks for approval before anything is sent.
What is Demi?
Demi is a native macOS application published by Proactive Labs Inc., a Delaware company with offices in San Francisco. It presents itself not as an AI assistant but as an AI teammate: where an assistant waits for instructions, Demi claims to have already started. The commercial thesis is that half of any job is the work itself and the other half is keeping track of it, and that second half is what Demi takes on.
Installed from app.demi.ai/signup, it lives in the macOS menu bar, beside the apps you already have open. There is no setup wizard and no configuration form: Demi learns your working habits, builds the workflow itself, picks whichever model suits the task at hand - you never choose one - and asks for approval before any external action. That boundary is stated explicitly. Organizing, remembering, searching and preparing happen on their own; sending an email, committing to something on your behalf or changing a system of record always goes through you.
Its usefulness depends on context, which it gathers from your tools. Twenty-eight integrations are named - Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce, Notion, Zoom, Linear and Asana among them - with more than a hundred claimed, and on Mac apps that expose no API Demi can act on screen, with permission. In practice it drafts email replies in your own tone, adjusted by recipient (brief internally, warmer with a long-standing client), updates the CRM from calls, spots deals that have gone quiet, captures meeting commitments and prepares briefs before each meeting.
Demi is in two places at once: a personal instance on each Mac and a shared instance in the team's Slack workspace, where anyone can mention it in a thread and get the answer in that thread. Three plans are offered - Free, Individual at 25 dollars a month with 5,000 credits, and Team on quote - with credits metering the work done rather than the number of seats. On the security side the company displays SOC 2 Type II, Google CASA Tier 2, encryption in transit and at rest, company-managed keys and deletion within 24 hours of a request.
What it does
- Drafts email replies that take in both the thread and the call that preceded it
- Updates the CRM from what was actually said in a meeting: deal stage, next step, last activity
- Flags deals going cold, with the length of the silence, and prepares the follow-up email
- Captures the commitments made in a meeting, with their dates, and puts them on the task list
- Builds pre-meeting briefs and rebuilds them when an attendee changes
- Offers to take a task over as a routine from its second occurrence
- Answers in Slack when mentioned in a thread, and sends morning and evening digests
When to use Demi / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Demi is the right fit.
When to use Demi
- Sales professionals - account executives, SDRs, account managers - whose deals live in email, Slack and a CRM
- Startup founders and small leadership teams juggling inboxes, calls and follow-ups without an assistant
- Marketers and growth leads coordinating campaigns across meetings, Slack and shared tools
- Customer success managers, recruiters and project managers who must track every commitment made in a meeting
- Mac users already equipped with Google Workspace or Outlook, Slack and HubSpot or Salesforce
When not to use Demi
- Windows and Linux users: Demi ships as a native macOS app and nothing else
- Anyone expecting a phone app - nothing is published on the App Store or Google Play
- Developers looking for a public API or developer documentation, neither of which exists
- Teams wanting an automation builder: Demi deliberately exposes no triggers, actions or models to wire up
- European buyers with strict procurement rules: the site mentions no GDPR framework and offers no data processing agreement
How to use Demi
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Download the Mac app from app.demi.ai/signup and create your account
- Connect your tools - Gmail or Outlook, Google Calendar, Slack, your CRM - Demi picks up context as soon as each one is linked
- Skip the configuration: there is no setup wizard, and the vendor claims a working setup in under a minute
- Carry on working; Demi surfaces what needs a decision, with the next step already prepared
- Review each proposal and approve it, edit it or skip it
- Call Demi from any app or screen (Individual plan) when you want something handled on the spot
- Mention Demi in a Slack thread so the whole team can use it and get the answer in the thread
- Let it take over what repeats: from the second occurrence, Demi offers to turn the task into a routine
- Manage permissions from the menu bar under Settings then Integrations, where each tool states what it can read and can be disconnected
- Use the Pause button in the menu-bar panel to stop new work without disconnecting anything
Pros & Cons
Pros
- An explicit approval model: nothing leaves your accounts without your say-so
- Every integration is available on the free plan, with no credit card, plus up to 50 dollars of credits on sign-up
- A native macOS app in the menu bar rather than yet another browser tab
- Security credentials on display and verifiable: SOC 2 Type II, Google CASA Tier 2 and Google app verification
- Data deleted within 24 hours of a request, and integrations revoked in a single gesture
- Nothing to wire up: no triggers, no actions, no model to choose, no onboarding questionnaire
- Human email support on three dedicated addresses, answered within two business days, with no ticket portal
Cons
- macOS only: no Windows, no Linux and no mobile app
- No public API and no developer documentation
- No GDPR mention, no data processing agreement, no subprocessor list and no EU Article 27 representative, while data is transferred to and processed in the United States
- Credit-based pricing makes the real cost depend on how much work Demi does, which is hard to anticipate, and Team pricing is only available on quote
- The marketing line stating that models are not trained on your data does not match the automatic personalized fine-tuning described in the privacy policy
- The comparison page advertises predictable per-seat pricing with no usage credits, while the pricing page is built entirely on credits
- No interface or processing languages are announced, and no founder or shareholder of Proactive Labs Inc. is publicly identifiable
Pricing & Plans
Demi offers a permanently free plan at USD 0, with no credit card required and up to USD 50 of credits granted on sign-up. The lowest paid entry point is the Individual plan at USD 25 per month, which includes 5,000 credits, and additional credits may be purchased at any time. The Team plan is quoted on request. Credits meter the work performed rather than the number of seats; should they run out, the account may be topped up, upgraded, or left until the next cycle, as the vendor states that no overage is billed silently. Plans may be changed or cancelled from the account, taking effect at the end of the billing period, and individual plans carry no annual commitment.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Demi handles your data.
GDPR overview
No GDPR framework is documented. Neither the terms of service nor the privacy policy mentions the GDPR, the European Economic Area, standard contractual clauses, a data processing agreement or an Article 27 representative, and no such wording appears anywhere on the site. The privacy policy follows a US template: it describes access, transfer and deletion rights and gives a contact address, privacy@demi.ai, but attaches them to no European text. The terms state that personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, apply California law and impose individual arbitration with a 30-day opt-out. What the company does publish is security assurance rather than data-protection compliance: SOC 2 Type II, Google CASA Tier 2 and Google app verification. The absence is documented rather than inferred: European buyers with contractual requirements will find nothing here to rely on.
Who owns the data?
Under the terms of service, you own your User Content. Proactive Labs Inc. claims no ownership rights over what you submit, and the homepage repeats that your data stays yours. In exchange, you grant the publisher a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, store, modify and distribute your content and Demi's output, for four stated purposes: operating the service, improving it, powering its AI features, and doing what the privacy policy describes. Access to your connected tools can be revoked at any time, and the company undertakes to delete your data within 24 hours of a request.
Reuse rights
You keep your content and Demi's output, and nothing in the terms limits what you do with them: drafts, summaries, briefs and CRM updates are yours to send, edit, publish or reuse without asking permission. On the publisher's side, the privacy policy lists account administration, service delivery, communication, analytics, security, legal obligations and targeted advertising as purposes, with data reaching your employer, marketing providers, advertising networks, integration partners, subcontractors and Stripe for payments - no card details are kept by Demi itself. On training, two regimes coexist: models fine-tuned on your data are made available to you alone, while training the shared base models requires prior notice and an explicit opt-in. Readers should note that the marketing pages state that models are not trained on customer data, which sits awkwardly with the automatic personalized fine-tuning described in the privacy policy.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Demi publishes no hosting map. The only jurisdictional statement comes from the terms of service, which say that your personal information may be transferred to, and processed in, the United States: that is the country recorded here. No additional country or region is announced, and no data-residency option is offered, so European or in-region hosting cannot be assumed. On the technical side, the site's domain resolves to 216.150.16.193, an anycast address belonging to Amazon.com Inc. (AS16509), which is an infrastructure clue about the marketing site rather than a statement by the publisher about where customer data lives. What the company does say about protection is that data is encrypted in transit and at rest with company-managed keys, that its AI vendors work under zero-retention terms, and that data is deleted within 24 hours of a request. Anyone with a data-residency requirement will have to ask Proactive Labs Inc. directly, because nothing on the site answers the question.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Demi.
- Connecting Demi means opening your mailbox, calendar, Slack and CRM to it, and its ability to act on screen in apps without an API widens that perimeter further
- Section 3.3 of the terms puts the burden on you to obtain whatever consents are required to record and analyze communications with third parties
- Personalized models are fine-tuned on your data by default, and no opt-out mechanism is documented for that fine-tuning
- After termination, your content may be destroyed unless a written request for a backup reaches the company within ten days
- No GDPR framework at all: no data processing agreement, no EU representative, no subprocessor list, and processing in the United States
- Mandatory individual arbitration and a class-action waiver, unless you opt out in writing within 30 days
- Handing over the follow-up half of the job can dull your own grip on who owes you what, and an approval you skim rather than read is no safeguard
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. Setup is three steps - download the Mac app, connect your tools, carry on working - and the vendor claims it takes under a minute. There is no configuration wizard, no triggers or actions to wire up and no model to choose. The only real prerequisites are owning a Mac and being willing to grant access to your mailbox, calendar, Slack and CRM. Permissions are handled from the menu bar under Settings then Integrations, where each tool states what it can read and can be disconnected on the spot.

Should you pick Demi?
Demi is an unusually well-defined product: one platform, one audience, one clear rule of autonomy. Its strength is the context it has already gathered - the thread, the call that preceded it, the deal stage, the commitment made out loud - paired with an approval step that keeps the human in the loop. Demi organizes, remembers, searches and prepares by itself; sending, committing and changing a system of record wait for you. For anyone whose day fragments across email, Slack, calls and a CRM, that combination is worth more than another chat window.
The limits are structural. Demi runs on macOS and nowhere else, offers no public API, and publishes nothing resembling a GDPR framework: no data processing agreement, no subprocessor list, no Article 27 representative, and an explicit transfer of personal data to the United States. European buyers with contractual requirements should treat that as a blocking point rather than a detail.
Two inconsistencies deserve a look before signing. The claim that models are not trained on customer data does not quite match the automatic personalized fine-tuning described in the privacy policy, and the comparison page advertises per-seat pricing with no usage credits while the pricing page is built entirely on credits. Nor could any founder or shareholder of Proactive Labs Inc. be identified publicly.
The natural fit is a go-to-market team already running a Mac, Google Workspace or Outlook, Slack and a CRM, willing to trade broad tool access for follow-through. Every integration is included in the free plan, so the cost of finding out is time rather than money.
