Durable
Durable is an all-in-one AI business builder for solo operators and small local firms. It generates a complete website in about 30 seconds, then adds a CRM, online bookings, payments, AI content and search visibility under a single subscription.
What is Durable?
Durable is a subscription platform that presents itself as a complete AI business builder rather than a website tool. It is published by Durable, Inc. - the footer and privacy policy of the site use the name Durable Technologies Inc - a company run by a distributed team with its home base in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founder James Clift previously ran a web development company, and the site's structured data gives 2021 as the founding year.
The entry point is deliberately blunt. You answer three questions about your trade and the platform writes and assembles a working site - copy, layout and images chosen for your sector - in roughly thirty seconds. A drag-and-drop editor then lets you change layouts, images, headings and fonts without touching code, preview on any device and publish instantly.
What comes after the site is the real argument. Durable bundles six modules into one subscription: the website, an AI image studio for logos and ads, an SEO and GEO engine, review collection, online bookings and a CRM. The GEO side is the least common of these. Alongside classic Google optimisation it tracks where a business ranks when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok or Perplexity for a recommendation, connects the Google Business Profile, pushes listings to local directories and publishes an llms.txt file for AI assistants.
Bookings synchronise with Google Calendar, generate Google Meet links, send confirmations and reminders, take prepayment or charge a saved card afterwards, and drop every appointment into the CRM. Autonomous agents work in the background writing blog posts, replying to inbound leads, requesting reviews and researching competitors, on monthly quotas that rise with the plan.
Hosting, SSL, unlimited traffic, a firewall and Cloudflare's CDN are included at every tier, including the permanent free plan. The commercial pitch is consolidation: the site sets a typical spend of 396 USD a month across seven separate subscriptions against a 25 USD Launch plan. Durable claims three million business owners, between nine and eleven million generated sites depending on which page you read, more than 250 industries served and a 4.8 rating on Trustpilot.

When to use Durable / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Durable is the right fit.
When to use Durable
- Tradespeople and home-service owners - landscapers, cleaners, handymen, repair technicians - who need to be found and booked, not to build a website
- Coaches, trainers and wellness practitioners who sell their time and need a site, a calendar and prepayment in one place
- Solo professional-service providers such as consultants, bookkeepers and tax advisers who want a credible online presence without an agency
- Food, catering and events businesses that live on local search and inbound enquiries
- Creative freelancers - designers, illustrators, content and marketing people - who would rather spend their hours on client work than on site maintenance
When not to use Durable
- Online retailers: the site states plainly that Durable is not designed for e-commerce businesses
- Anyone who needs to hand-edit HTML or ship custom front-end code, since the platform is deliberately no-code
- Developer teams looking to automate through an API - none is documented anywhere on the site
- Users who want a native mobile app, as Durable ships as a web application only
- Organisations with strict European data-governance requirements, given the absence of any GDPR statement, DPA or Article 27 representative
How to use Durable
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Sign up for free from the homepage - no payment details are requested to start
- Answer three questions about your business: industry, name and goals
- Let the AI generate a complete site with sector-specific copy, layout and images
- Refine the result in the drag-and-drop editor: layout, images, headings, fonts, sections
- Publish to a free .durable.site subdomain, connect a domain you already own in about five minutes, or register one free on a paid plan
- Connect your Google Business Profile from the SEO & GEO page to start building visibility
- List your services and availability to switch on the booking widget on your site
- Sync Google Calendar so real availability is shown and double bookings are avoided
- Set your payment rules - prepayment at booking or a card charged after the appointment
- Let the AI agents run: blog posts, lead replies, review requests and competitor tracking, then follow results in the analytics and visibility dashboards
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely fast to launch: a credible, industry-specific site is online in seconds with no technical skill required
- Unusually wide scope for the price - site, CRM, bookings, SEO, AI images, blog and reviews in a single subscription
- A permanent free plan, not a countdown trial, so the platform can be tested on a real subdomain
- Visibility tracking on AI answer engines is still rare at this price point and increasingly relevant
- Hosting, SSL, unlimited traffic and Cloudflare protection are included at every tier, with a free custom domain on paid plans
- Pricing is public, itemised across three tiers and detailed in a long feature-by-feature comparison table
- Priority human support from the Launch plan upwards, with one-to-one expert onboarding on Grow
Cons
- No mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site, and no DPA, Article 27 representative or dedicated privacy contact
- Training machine-learning models is listed among the uses of collected data, with no documented opt-out
- Data from users outside Canada is transferred to and processed in Canada
- Fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable under the terms, and purchased quantities cannot be reduced mid-term
- No API, no mobile app and no deep HTML customisation - the no-code approach is a hard boundary
- Not designed for e-commerce, by the vendor's own admission, and recovering a custom domain on exit takes weeks and a minimum subscription period
- Internal inconsistencies: the pricing grid says the free plan publishes to a subdomain while the product FAQ says publishing requires a paid plan, and the number of sites generated varies from nine to eleven million between pages

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Durable handles your data.
GDPR overview
There is no mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site - not in the privacy policy, not in the terms of service, not on any product page. No European representative under Article 27 is designated, no data protection officer is named, no dedicated privacy contact is published and no data processing agreement is offered. The policy does borrow the regulation's vocabulary, calling itself a data controller and describing data processors and data subjects, and it grants rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability in a common electronic format, exercised through account settings or by contacting the company. It also states that users located outside Canada have their data transferred to and processed in Canada, consent being taken as given by submitting the information. The policy is dated 13 October 2025.
Who owns the data?
The privacy policy names Durable Technologies Inc as the data controller for personal data, while the terms distinguish the customer's own Customer Data from Durable's platform property. Customers keep their business content and can have a custom domain transferred back to them on request when they leave. Two clauses deserve attention. Any feedback, suggestion or improvement request handed to Durable is covered by a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable and royalty-free licence in the vendor's favour. And on termination, each party returns or destroys the other's confidential information, except that Durable may keep its electronic archives under continuing confidentiality obligations. Stock images come from Getty Images (Canada) and Unsplash and carry their own usage restrictions.
Reuse rights
Customers may use what they create through the service for their own business, and images supplied through the platform remain subject to the Getty Images and Unsplash restrictions set out in the terms. Reuse of the platform itself is fenced off: subscribers may not sub-licence, sell, rent, lend, lease or redistribute the service, use it for service-bureau or timesharing purposes, or access it for benchmarking or competitive analysis, and direct competitors are barred outright without written consent. On Durable's side, the privacy policy lists training machine-learning models among the purposes for which collected data is used, with no documented way to opt out; the only carve-out is that data drawn from Google Workspace APIs is not used to develop or train generalised AI models.

Hosting summary
Durable's privacy policy states that personal data is transferred to and processed in Canada, and says so explicitly for users located outside the country: submitting information is taken as agreement to that transfer. The publisher operates from Vancouver, British Columbia, and the terms place any dispute under the law of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada, with proceedings in the courts of Vancouver. Published websites are delivered through Cloudflare's content delivery network, chosen according to the pricing FAQ for SSL generation, firewalling and DDoS protection. Note that the domain resolves to a Cloudflare anycast address, which reflects the CDN edge rather than the location of the application servers, so the Canadian jurisdiction stated in the policy is the reliable indication. No hosting region is named as such, no sub-processor location is disclosed beyond the named service providers, and no European hosting option is offered.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Durable.
- Your data helps train machine-learning models: the privacy policy says so plainly and offers no opt-out, so treat anything you put in the CRM accordingly
- The GDPR is never mentioned on the site, and there is no data processing agreement, no Article 27 representative and no privacy contact - a real gap if you hold European customer records
- Personal data from users outside Canada is transferred to and processed in Canada, with consent deemed given simply by submitting information
- Fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable under the terms, and purchased quantities cannot be reduced during a subscription term
- Any suggestion or feedback you send is covered by a worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable licence in Durable's favour
- Leaving takes planning: recovering a custom domain requires an explicit request, several weeks and a minimum subscription period, and a business that runs its site, CRM, bookings and payments on one platform is deeply dependent on it
- Convenience has a cognitive cost - a site, blog posts and lead replies written by AI can drift away from how you actually talk to customers, so review what goes out in your name
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. No technical skill is required: you answer three questions and the site is generated in about thirty seconds, then edited by dragging and dropping. Publishing to the free .durable.site subdomain needs nothing further. The only slightly technical step is connecting a domain you already own, which means changing a few records at your registrar and takes around five minutes, with a help-centre guide provided. The Grow plan adds a one-to-one onboarding call with a Durable expert for anyone who would rather be walked through it.

Should you pick Durable?
Durable is one of the more coherent products in a crowded category, because it stopped trying to be a website builder. The site is the entry ticket; the value sits in what surrounds it - a CRM that answers leads, a booking system wired to Google Calendar and to payments, review collection, and visibility tracking that now covers AI answer engines as well as Google. For a landscaper, a coach or a caterer, that bundle at 22 to 25 USD a month is a serious alternative to stitching together five subscriptions, and the permanent free plan makes the claim testable at no cost.
The reservations are concentrated in one area, and it is not the product. Data governance is thin for a platform holding a small firm's entire customer base: the GDPR is never mentioned, no processing agreement is offered, no European representative is designated, and training machine-learning models sits in the list of purposes with no way to opt out. Everything is processed in Canada, and disputes go to the courts of Vancouver. None of this is unusual for a North American SMB tool, but a European buyer should weigh it deliberately rather than discover it later.
A few editorial inconsistencies also invite care: the free plan's publishing rights are described differently on two pages, the count of generated sites shifts between nine and eleven million, and the legal entity is named Durable, Inc. in the terms but Durable Technologies Inc in the footer and privacy policy. Read the terms before committing, since fees are explicitly non-refundable and reclaiming a custom domain on exit takes weeks. Within those limits, this is a capable and honestly priced tool for people who would rather run their business than maintain a website.
