Fabric
Fabric is a personal AI workspace that gathers your notes, files, meetings and ideas in one indexed place, then lets you search all of it by meaning — on web, mobile, desktop and browser.
What is Fabric?
Fabric bills itself as the AI workspace that thinks with you, a personal AI that actually knows you. It pulls files, notes, ideas and meetings into a single space that an AI indexes as you add to it. The Fabric Memory Engine builds an addressable network linking concepts together and reshapes itself with use, so you retrieve things by asking in plain language rather than by remembering where you filed them. Search reaches inside PDFs, slides, video and audio transcripts, and across connected services; you can also search visually, by reference image or by color. On top of that sit named AI agents with their own personality, schedule and dedicated email address, scheduled tasks, an infinite canvas, a real-time collaborative markdown editor, kanban boards, reminders and annotations. One subscription covers several model families — Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, Deepseek, xAI and others. It runs on web, iOS, Android, desktop, a Chrome clipper and a CLI, with 50+ integrations. Security is AES-256 at rest and SSL/TLS in transit; no hosting country is published.
What it does
- Search everything you have saved by meaning, with no tags and no manual filing
- Look inside PDFs, slides, videos, audio files and images
- Record, transcribe and summarize meetings and voice notes
- Create named AI agents with their own schedule and their own email address
- Schedule recurring tasks such as a Monday brief, Reddit monitoring or note tidying
- Write and collaborate in real time in a markdown editor, or lay ideas out on an infinite canvas
- Connect Google Drive, Notion, Figma, Dropbox, Slack and 50+ other services
When to use Fabric / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Fabric is the right fit.
When to use Fabric
- Students and researchers juggling large volumes of PDFs, papers and lecture notes
- Designers and creative teams building visual reference libraries they need to search by image or color
- Founders, product managers and consultants who live in back-to-back meetings and want them recorded, transcribed and summarized
- Writers, marketers and content creators who collect links, clips and drafts across a dozen different tools
- People with ADHD and self-described tab hoarders who save far more than they can ever find again
When not to use Fabric
- European organizations that need documented GDPR compliance: no GDPR mention, no data processing agreement and no EU representative appear anywhere on the site
- Teams with data residency obligations, since no hosting country or region is published
- Anyone hoping for a rich permanent free tier, as AI and storage quotas are tied to the paid plans
- Buyers who want a money-back guarantee: the pricing page states that no refunds are issued
- Non-English speakers, as the interface and documentation observed are English-only
How to use Fabric
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account from the Fabric website, where the sign-up button reads “Try for $0”
- Install the clients you need: web, iOS, Android, desktop, the Chrome extension or the CLI
- Import or save your files, notes, links, screenshots and emails
- Connect the third-party services you use, such as Google Drive, Notion, Figma, Dropbox or Slack
- Let the indexing build your memory, with content enriched automatically as it lands
- Ask questions in plain language through search or the assistant
- Create one or more AI agents, give each a name and a schedule
- Email an agent at its dedicated address to hand it a piece of work
- Organize on the canvas, in folders and spaces, on a kanban board or as tasks and reminders
- Share, publish or password-protect content, and move to a paid tier from account settings to lift the quotas
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Broad file coverage: PDF, EPUB, .docx, .ppt, .csv, images, video and audio
- Search by meaning, with no tagging or manual filing to keep up
- Several model families under a single subscription instead of stacking separate ones
- Available everywhere: web, iOS, Android, desktop, Chrome extension and CLI
- Explicit opt-out of data use, reachable from the settings, with subprocessors listed by name on the privacy page
- Full .ZIP export at any time, deletion purged within 30 days, AES-256 at rest and CASA Tier 2 compliance
- Low paid entry point at 8 USD per month on annual billing, with a public 4.7 app rating over 3,000+ reviews
Cons
- No refunds, stated explicitly on the pricing page
- No GDPR compliance claim, no data processing agreement and no EU representative
- No hosting country or region published: AWS and Cloudflare are named, their locations are not
- No postal address anywhere on the pages collected, and a single contact, team@fabric.so, for support, legal and privacy
- No public API documentation found, although API access is sold as an option
- AI and storage quotas segmented by tier, with the number of AI agents capped at 5, 10 or 50
- Prices shown assume annual billing, and anonymized data use is on by default outside Enterprise plans

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Fabric handles your data.
GDPR overview
There is no GDPR mention at all. Across the four pages collected — homepage, pricing, terms of service and privacy policy — the words GDPR, data protection officer, EEA and Article 27 appear nowhere, neither in the visible text nor in the archived HTML. No data processing agreement is offered and no EU representative is named. The governing law is California and disputes go to the courts of San Francisco; the publisher is WFHLAND, Inc., a US-based Delaware C-Corp. Some rights are granted in practice, simply not under GDPR labels: you can delete your account and its contents at any time, deleted data is purged within 30 days, a full export is available on demand, and you can opt out of anonymized data use from your settings. One address, team@fabric.so, handles every privacy question.
Who owns the data?
Fabric's terms draw a clean line: you own the material you upload or create, called Customer Materials, and Fabric owns the Service itself (ToS 3.6). The privacy page repeats it plainly — “Your data is yours, not ours” — and states that personal data is never sold to third parties. Two carve-outs matter. Models and algorithms improved through anonymized, aggregated data belong exclusively to Fabric, with no ownership rights flowing back to you (3.6), and that anonymized data may be used in collaboration with third-party partners, with an opt-out and Enterprise plans excluded by default (3.5.1). Any feedback or suggestion you send is assigned irrevocably to Fabric (3.5).
Reuse rights
You can reuse your own content outside Fabric without asking: entire folders or individual files can be downloaded at any time, and a full export of everything held in your account is delivered automatically as a .ZIP file. The terms then set the limits. You may not resell, sublicense, rent or otherwise redistribute the Service (3.2), you may not extract data from Fabric by automated or programmatic means (3.3), and you may not use Fabric to build a competing product (3.3). The license granted covers internal business or personal use depending on your account type (4.1).
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Fabric hosts the Services on Amazon Web Services, as stated in the terms (11.11) and echoed on the privacy page, where AWS and Cloudflare are named as storage partners and data is described as encrypted at rest and encrypted in transit to and from storage. AWS also handles authentication — login, logout and signup — and stores email addresses and usernames in that capacity. Bunny is used as a secure CDN, serving images at several resolutions. No hosting country or region is published anywhere on the pages collected, so the jurisdiction your data sits in cannot be known from the site; the only geographic anchors are corporate. The publisher is WFHLAND, Inc., a US-based Delaware C-Corp, and the terms are governed by California law. DNS resolution observed for the domain points to 76.76.21.21, geolocated in the United States. Announced protection is AES-256 encryption at rest, SSL/TLS in transit, CASA Tier 2 compliance, and optional password protection on files and folders.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Fabric.
- A personal memory tool concentrates highly sensitive data in one place: a single compromised account exposes everything at once
- Use of anonymized, aggregated data is on by default outside Enterprise plans, and opting out is left to you
- Recording meetings puts a legal duty on you: the terms require consent from every participant, and two-party consent laws apply in California and elsewhere
- Breaking the recording rules can trigger immediate suspension of your account
- No GDPR framework is announced and no hosting country is published, so a European user cannot tell which jurisdiction holds their data
- Outsourcing your memory to a third-party service builds a dependency that is hard to unwind, and recall habits weaken as the tool takes over the remembering
- Individual arbitration is mandatory unless you opt out in writing within 30 days, with a waiver of class actions and jury trial, and no refund if you are dissatisfied
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Getting started is easy and asks nothing technical. You create an account with an email address or Google OAuth, and the web app needs no installation at all. Ready-made clients exist for iOS, Android, desktop, Chrome and the command line. Third-party connections are opt-in and switched on one at a time from the marketplace, with twelve of them on the Plus tier and premium connections above. No configuration and no API key is required for everyday use. Only the API and SDKs, covered by separate Developer Terms, call for real technical work.

Should you pick Fabric?
Fabric's strength is straightforward: it puts files, notes and meetings in one place and makes all of it answerable in plain language, without the filing work that usually comes with it. Named AI agents, each with a schedule and its own email address, are a genuine differentiator, and one subscription covering several model families compares well against stacking separate ones. Platform coverage is complete, down to a CLI. The reservations are legal rather than functional: no GDPR framework, no data processing agreement, no postal address, no published hosting country and a single contact address. There are no refunds, and anonymized data use is on by default outside Enterprise plans. The publisher is WFHLAND, Inc., a US-based Delaware C-Corp.
