What is FireCut?
FireCut is an AI editing assistant that lives inside the software editors already use. It installs as a plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro 2022 or later (Windows, macOS) and for DaVinci Resolve (Windows, macOS, Linux, free edition included), and it also exists as a browser editor, FireCut Shorts and FireCut Web. Because it works on the open timeline, there is nothing to upload and nothing to export first. Dialogue clean-up is the core. Silence removal runs as a single slider or in an advanced mode with waveform, threshold, padding and J-cuts. Filler words (um, uh, like, plus your own list), repeated sentences, alternative takes and profanity are detected and shown on a review screen before anything is cut; swearing can be muted or bleeped using block and allow lists. Captions come next: styled Fusion text with Google Fonts, outlines, shadows, word-by-word animation, automatic emojis, more than twenty presets, word-level transcript editing, optional translation and SRT/VTT export. Content AI adds chapter detection with YouTube titles, descriptions and timestamps, on-screen title detection, zooms triggered by key phrases or by cut rhythm with face detection, and 9:16 highlights ready to export. Media is bundled: watermark-free Storyblocks B-roll, search across Pexels, Pixabay, Giphy or your own library with AI recognition, and royalty-free music and sound effects filtered by genre, BPM and length. Higher tiers generate as well: ElevenLabs voiceover with 30,000 characters included, images from prompts or reference pictures, instrumental music, and reusable multi-step workflows. Podcast work gets automatic camera switching, muting of quiet tracks and multitrack splitting, while First cut and Magic cut assemble a rough edit from the media pool or from a script. Transcription is metered per tier: 8 hours a month on Resolve Captions, 10 on Resolve Pro, 25 on Premiere Pro Pro, 50 hours a week on Resolve Max and 100 hours a month on Premiere Pro Max. Resolve covers 90+ languages, Premiere Pro 50+ (English complete, the rest labelled experimental). An internet connection is required for anything touching AI, transcription, B-roll, music, sound effects or voiceover, and once the quota runs out the plugin still works from an existing caption track. Free online tools - transcription, screen recorder, converters, dictaphone - need no account at all. FireCut is published by FireCrafts Ltd., a British company, live since 2023 and still shipping: Premiere Pro v1.2.33 is dated 19 August 2026.

How to use FireCut
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account on the get started page with Google or an email address and a password of at least eight characters; the 7-day free trial starts there
- Download the installer for your host application: the Premiere Pro build, or the DaVinci Resolve build from the downloads page
- Run the installer, open a project in Premiere Pro, then load the panel from Window > Extensions > FireCut
- Activate your licence key, which is personal and tied to one device at a time; use the Unlink button in the dashboard to move to another machine
- Select the sequence or the clips to work on, then pick a function: each one starts by exporting the sequence audio for analysis
- Speed up that analysis on compressed audio by running Render and Replace first
- Check the proposed result on the review screen - silences, filler words, repetitions, profanity - and apply only what you keep
- Restyle captions afterwards by selecting the clips, then Add captions > Edit selected captions, or Load full transcript
- Reuse your own caption presets, stored locally in caption_presets_custom.json under %APPDATA%\FireCut on Windows or ~/Library/Application Support/FireCut on macOS

GDPR overview
There is no GDPR implementation to report. Across every page collected - privacy policy, terms, EULA, pricing and documentation - the words GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 do not appear once, neither as a claim nor as a denial. No data protection officer is named and no Article 27 EU representative is designated. No data processing agreement is published or offered. The privacy policy, effective 17 October 2023, sets out no right of access, rectification or erasure and names no supervisory authority. No sub-processor list exists: Stripe, Storyblocks, ElevenLabs and ai-coustics are named only as feature providers, which is not the same thing. The publisher, FireCrafts Ltd., is registered in the United Kingdom. The single privacy contact is support@firecut.ai, given in section 9 of the policy.
Who owns the data?
The privacy policy, whose only effective date is 17 October 2023, describes a narrow collection: your email address at sign-up, your plan details and referral information. It states that the company never sells personal information, and that data is shared with third parties only where necessary to provide the service, to comply with the law, to protect the company's rights, or as part of a business transfer. The EULA is broader than the policy: usage data collected expressly includes "your project or media you submit for processing". Feedback and suggestions you send become the company's exclusive property. Stripe acts as a separate controller for payments. Nothing published states who owns the footage you edit.
Reuse rights
The declared purposes are administrative and commercial: managing your account, providing the service, improving it, and telling you about product news. Cookies track basic information and identify the referrer or affiliate; your email address feeds marketing messages sent through an emailing platform, with unsubscribe by link or by writing to support@firecut.ai. The EULA adds that usage data is analysed to understand feature use and to improve performance and support. Neither the policy, the terms nor the EULA says whether customer footage is used to train AI models, and no training opt-out is documented, so the question remains unclear. Nothing in the documents collected sets out any restriction on reusing the edits you produce.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The site says nothing about where customer data is hosted. No country and no region is named anywhere in the pages collected, and section 7 of the privacy policy goes no further than a promise of reasonable data collection, storage and processing practices, and security measures. There is no sub-processor list, no data centre location and no residency option. The only technical fact available is infrastructural rather than contractual: firecut.ai resolves to 159.223.216.88, a DigitalOcean address in Amsterdam, Netherlands. That describes where the website is served from, not where projects, transcripts or media submitted for processing are stored or processed. What can be established is the jurisdiction of the publisher rather than of the data: FireCrafts Ltd. is registered in the United Kingdom, and the EULA names the United Kingdom as the company's country while submitting the agreement to the law of the State of Delaware. Payments are handled by Stripe, described in the terms as a separate controller. Anyone with a data residency requirement should ask FireCut in writing before subscribing, because nothing published answers the question.
