What is Floatboat?
Floatboat calls itself a Proactive Agent OS: instead of waiting for a prompt, it runs work straight from your calendar. Published by AOE Tech Labs Limited in Hong Kong, it starts from a simple thesis, work isn't a chat thread, it's a schedule. Connect Google Calendar, Notion Calendar, Lark, Outlook, iCloud or any ICS feed, and every block on it becomes an agent trigger rather than just a meeting.
The mechanism has four stages. The schedule becomes the runtime; Floatboat classifies what kind of work each event implies, from meetings and deadlines to routines and plans; agents prepare and execute, with a brief before a call, a draft before a deadline, a follow-up after; and you keep control through a persistent Agent Workspace attached to each event, holding its files, execution history, model choices and decisions. You can adjust prompts, swap models or replay a step from there.
Models are bundled, so no API key is required: DeepSeek, MiniMax, GLM (Zhipu), Kimi (Moonshot), GPT-5.5, Claude Opus 4.6 and 4.7, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Nano Banana 2, gpt-image-2 and Seedance 2.0 cover text, image and video. Chinese models are reachable without an API key, a VPN or a Chinese phone number. Auto Mode routes each step of a Combo to a suitable model, cheap ones for analysis and frontier ones for reasoning, and falls back to another provider when one rate-limits.
Around that sit 3,500+ tools connected through native MCP and IACT, with permission scopes set per calendar event rather than per account; two marketplaces, the Combo Store for composable agent skills (voice memo to deck, sales call to follow-up email, Linear ticket to PR draft) and the Workflow Store for webhook, scheduled, browser and closed-loop automations; and FloatIM, an agent-native group messenger where members can be agents running locally on your Mac, self-organizing into roles and returning finished artifacts. Two open protocols ship under an MIT license: IACT for clickable chat output and Selfware for self-carrying memory files.
Floatboat is a native app for macOS 13 and later and Windows 10 and later that reads local files in place and plugs into Apple Mail, Outlook, macOS Reminders and browsers with logged-in sessions. The pitch is to replace a stack of scattered AI subscriptions so that one person, or a tiny team, delivers like five. The homepage currently shows v0.4.0.

GDPR overview
The site never uses the word GDPR, so no compliance is claimed anywhere. The privacy policy, effective 23 January 2026, does list GDPR-style legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations and consent (1.2). AOE Tech Labs Limited is named as controller, except on enterprise accounts where the organization is controller and Floatboat the processor (1.1). Section 7 grants access, rectification and deletion rights over Memory data, requested by email to contact@floatboat.ai, subject to identity verification and answered within 30 days. Terms 5.5 addresses EU/EEA and UK consumers waiving the withdrawal right when performance starts immediately. Missing: any Article 27 EU representative, a named DPO or dedicated privacy contact, a DPA, a subprocessor list and certifications such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001. The publisher is a Hong Kong company, with Hong Kong law and HKIAC arbitration.
Who owns the data?
Under section 3.1 of the terms, you keep all rights to the text, files, code and data you input or let Floatboat access. Section 3.3 grants AOE Tech Labs Limited a limited, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce and process that content solely to provide and improve the service, with no claim of ownership over your intellectual property. Combos you publish to the marketplace stay yours, but listing them grants a worldwide, royalty-free, transferable license to distribute, display and improve the service (2.5). The privacy policy names AOE Tech Labs Limited as data controller, except on enterprise accounts where the organization takes that role; in BYOK mode you may act as an independent controller toward the third-party provider.
Reuse rights
Floatboat processes the files, codebases and text you select or that enter the Context you define (privacy 2.1), whatever you explicitly ask the Memory layer to remember (2.2), and minimal anonymized telemetry such as usage counters and crash reports, which can be turned off in the settings (2.3). That material is used to generate answers, execute commands and retrieve context (3.1), while usage data and execution metadata serve billing, quotas, fraud prevention and service integrity (3.4). Processing stays local wherever possible, including filename indexing and local search (3.3). What leaves your machine is the queries and context fragments sent to model providers, and the policy warns that those providers may retain that data and use it to train their own models, practices Floatboat states it does not control, pointing instead to Google, Claude, OpenAI and xAI. Terms 3.2 note that the agent can reach your local file system, active application windows and potentially browser history, with settings and permissions deciding what is exposed. Personal data is not sold; third parties named as examples are OpenAI and Anthropic for models, AWS and Azure for infrastructure and sync, Sentry and PostHog for anonymized analytics, and Stripe for payment. No opt-out from model training is documented: the only published opt-out covers telemetry.

Hosting summary
No hosting country or region is stated anywhere on the site. The privacy policy (section 6) refers to cloud infrastructure used for hosting and for syncing Memory across devices, citing AWS and Azure as examples, but gives no location for either. Section 3.3 states that processing stays on your own machine wherever possible, including filename indexing and local search, to limit what leaves the device. Section 5 describes standard encryption at rest for cloud sync and in transit over TLS/SSL, with sensitive keys stored in the operating system's secure keychain where one exists; terms section 4 adds that Long-term Memory is encrypted, without guaranteeing absolute security. The publisher, AOE Tech Labs Limited, is established in Hong Kong, and both the governing law and the arbitration seat are in Hong Kong. The web server resolves behind Cloudflare's anycast network, which says nothing about where the data actually sits.
