Fotoria
Fotoria turns 5 to 10 selfies into professional AI headshots for LinkedIn, CVs, company team pages and email signatures. Finished portraits arrive in under 30 minutes, and every pack is a one-time purchase starting at $29.
What is Fotoria?
Fotoria is a web-based AI headshot generator operated by Site Pixel Media Inc., a company established in Toronto, Ontario. Its own terms describe it as specialising in photorealistic AI headshots generated from user-uploaded images. In practice you upload five to ten selfies, the service trains a private model on your face, and it returns studio-style portraits without a photographer, a studio or a booking. The underlying technology is branded TruLike™ and presented as a combination of advanced facial recognition, precision styling and real-time personalisation.
The marketing site sits on www.fotoria.com; the product itself runs at app.fotoria.com. Every plan promises delivery in under 30 minutes, announced by email with a download link. Three individual packs are sold as one-time purchases: Basic at $29 for 40 HD headshots and 2 styles, Professional at $49 for 100 headshots and 5 styles, and Executive at $69 for 200 headshots and 10 styles. Each pack also carries edit/create credits, 10, 25 or 50 of them, which let you change an outfit, swap a background, adjust a hairstyle, add styles or generate entirely new photos using your own likeness.
A separate Teams offer is priced per member with a volume discount and adds an admin dashboard, a dedicated account manager, 100 headshots and 5 shared styles per person. Gift cards resell the same three packs across eight card designs. Ten dedicated pages cover business, corporate, LinkedIn, acting, real estate, eras, CV, medical and creative portraits, and the footer hosts free side tools such as LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter banner generators and sizing guides.
Uploaded photos and generated headshots are deleted automatically 30 days after generation, with manual deletion available at any moment. Resolution is stated inconsistently: the home page FAQ says 1024 x 1024 px, the pricing comparison table says 896 x 1152 px, and upscaling for print costs extra. A Profile-Worthy Guarantee promises a full refund if no usable headshot comes out, under conditions. The interface exists in 12 languages. There is no API, no mobile app and no browser extension: the service is web only. A 4.8/5 rating is displayed without naming any review platform.

- Get the finished batch in under 30 minutes, announced by email with a download link

- Send a headshot session to someone else as a gift card
When to use Fotoria / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Fotoria is the right fit.
When to use Fotoria
- Professionals who need a polished LinkedIn or CV portrait but cannot justify the $300+ per session the site quotes for a studio photographer
- HR and people teams standardising staff photos company-wide, using the Teams plan's admin dashboard and dedicated account manager
- New hires who arrived after the annual company photo shoot and need to match the existing house style at any time
- Distributed and remote teams, where each member uploads their own selfies from home, across different time zones
- Job seekers, students, actors, real estate agents, doctors and creatives, each served by a dedicated Fotoria vertical page
When not to use Fotoria
- Anyone under 18: article 3 of the terms of service reserves the service to adults
- Developers and teams wanting to automate headshots, since there is no API, no mobile app and no browser extension, only the web app
- Users with a clearly commercial brief who need contractual certainty: the home page promises full commercial rights while article 8 of the terms grants a personal, non-commercial licence
- Anyone who needs a guaranteed likeness or print-ready files as standard. Fotoria warns that "some generated images may contain artifacts or not fully resemble the user, a characteristic of AI-generated content", and high-resolution upscaling is a paid extra
- Organisations whose procurement requires a signed data processing agreement or a contractual hosting country, neither of which Fotoria publishes
How to use Fotoria
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account on app.fotoria.com and choose a pack, since payment comes before generation
- Upload 5 to 10 clear photos of your face. Fotoria asks for "different angles, lighting conditions, and backgrounds" for the best results
- Wear glasses, facial hair and make-up as you normally do, since the system picks these details up
- Choose your styles from the library (business formal, casual, creative and others): 2, 5 or 10 depending on the pack
- Let the AI build a personal model of your face and generate the batch
- Wait under 30 minutes for the email carrying your download link
- Download the results. The site sets the expectation at 8 to 10 standout portraits if the upload guidance was followed, with at least one usable headshot guaranteed
- Spend edit/create credits to change an outfit, a background or a hairstyle, to add styles, or to generate new photos
- For a team, the coordinator shares a single link, each member uploads on their own side, and a common style is applied across everyone
- Delete a photoshoot or the whole account when you are done; anything left is removed automatically 30 days after generation
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Low one-time entry price at $29, no subscription to cancel, and a money-back guarantee displayed on every product page
- Turnaround announced at under 30 minutes on all three packs
- Generous volume: 40 to 200 headshots depending on the pack, with edit/create credits included rather than sold separately
- Short and explicit retention: automatic deletion 30 days after generation, plus immediate manual deletion of a photoshoot or the whole account
- Unusually detailed cookie policy, with every cookie named alongside its provider, purpose and lifetime
- GDPR legal bases and data subject rights spelled out rather than alluded to
- A genuine team offering (admin dashboard, dedicated account manager, common house style) and an interface available in 12 languages
Cons
- Usage rights contradict themselves: the home page and FAQ announce "full commercial rights and ownership", while article 8 of the terms grants a "personal, non-commercial" licence, and the site never resolves the gap
- Delivered resolution is announced two ways, 1024 x 1024 px in the home page FAQ and 896 x 1152 px in the pricing comparison table, and print-grade upscaling is charged extra
- No DPA published or offered on request, no data hosting country or region declared, no subprocessor handling the photos disclosed, and no Article 27 EU representative appointed even though the service addresses the EEA
- Web only, with no API, no mobile app and no browser extension, and no documented way to opt out of training
- Teams pricing is not published in the static page: the amount is computed client-side by a slider
- Social proof is unsourced: a 4.8/5 rating with no review platform named, testimonials signed with a first name and an initial, and an unsupported "Fortune 500 companies" claim
- Binding arbitration under Ontario law with jury and class action waivers, liability capped at what you paid over 12 months, service provided as is, and refunds tightly conditioned (no download, within 14 days, compliant input images)
Pricing & Plans
There is no free plan and no free trial. Fotoria sells one-time packs rather than subscriptions, and the lowest entry point is 29.00 USD for the Basic pack, ahead of Professional at 49.00 USD and Executive at 69.00 USD. The Teams offer is priced per member with a volume discount, but the amount is computed client-side and does not appear in the static page. Gift cards start at $29 and cover the recipient's full cost. High-resolution upscaling for print is charged as an extra, at a price the site does not publish. Payment is accepted by major credit cards and common online payment methods. For comparison, the site sets its pricing against a traditional photographer at "$300+ per session". The banner and sizing tools in the footer are free standalone utilities, unrelated to the paid packs.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Fotoria handles your data.
GDPR overview
GDPR is referenced concretely rather than in passing. The cookie policy names the data controller, Site Pixel Media Inc., 478 King St. W, Toronto, ON M5V 0A8, Canada, and cites its legal bases: legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) for necessary cookies, which it also places under the "strictly necessary" exemption of ePrivacy Article 5(3), and consent under Article 6(1)(a) for analytics and advertising. Data subject rights are listed in full: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent, all exercised through support@fotoria.com. EEA, UK and Swiss users are pointed to their local authority, Canadians to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Transfers outside the EEA are covered by standard contractual clauses for Google and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for Heap. No Article 27 representative, no named DPO and no DPA are published. Policy dated 27 July 2025.
Who owns the data?
Article 4 of the terms of service is explicit: you keep ownership of the selfies you upload, while Fotoria keeps ownership of the AI-generated content it calls "Generations" and grants you a licence to use them for personal purposes. Article 8 narrows that licence to a "limited, non-exclusive" one for "personal, non-commercial purposes". The home page and the on-site FAQ say the opposite: "You have full commercial rights and ownership", alongside the promise that your likeness remains your property. Fotoria never reconciles the two statements, so anyone planning commercial use should have the point confirmed in writing before buying.
Reuse rights
Fotoria states that it trains a unique AI model just for you, that your photos are never reused, and that it uses them "solely for generating headshots". The privacy policy lists the declared purposes: delivering the service, taking payment, sending notifications, analysing usage and meeting legal obligations. Nothing on the site describes uploaded selfies feeding general-purpose models, and no training opt-out setting is documented anywhere. On the output side, what you may do with the images depends on which page you read: personal use is granted outright by the terms, commercial use is promised on the home page but withheld by article 8. Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Heap) run on consent only.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Fotoria does not say where its data lives. No hosting country, region or data centre is named anywhere on the site, and no list of subprocessors handling uploaded photos is published. What is established is the controller's jurisdiction: Site Pixel Media Inc. is established in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the cookie policy points Canadian users to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. On security, the site states that "All headshots are secured with an advanced encryption system, and data is encrypted during transfer and storage", and adds TLS, regular security audits and restricted internal access. Cross-border transfers are documented only for measurement tools, never for the photos themselves: Google under standard contractual clauses, Heap under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework with clauses as a fallback. On the network side the site is served behind Cloudflare (AS13335, anycast address 104.21.82.165), which describes how pages are delivered and says nothing about where headshots are stored. Anyone with a contractual hosting requirement will have to ask Fotoria directly, since no data processing agreement is published either.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Fotoria.
- Commercial use is not settled: the home page promises "full commercial rights and ownership" while article 8 of the terms grants a "personal, non-commercial" licence. Check before putting a generated portrait on a paid campaign
- Everything disappears after 30 days. The privacy policy warns: "Once deleted, they cannot be recovered. Please ensure you download any images you want to keep before this period ends."
- The refund window closes fast: the first download voids it, and the request must land within 14 days of purchase
- Disputes leave the courts. "All disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration under the laws of Ontario, Canada", with jury and class action waivers, and liability capped at what you paid over the previous 12 months
- The delivered resolution is announced differently from one page to another and print-grade upscaling is billed separately. Fotoria also notes that some generated images may contain artifacts or not fully resemble the user, so check what you actually get before committing to a print run
- No hosting country is declared, no DPA is published and no Article 27 EU representative is appointed, which matters if your employer or client imposes documentary requirements
- On team plans each member has to delete their own data individually, and the 4.8/5 rating and the "Fortune 500 companies" mention should be treated as unsourced claims
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low. There is nothing to install: everything happens in the browser at app.fotoria.com, and the only prerequisites are an account and a paid pack. No technical skill and no configuration are involved. The real friction sits upstream, in gathering 5 to 10 selfies that follow the brief on angles, lighting and backgrounds. Output quality depends explicitly on that, and a refund can be refused if the input images did not meet the guidance. For a team, the coordinator shares a single link, each member uploads their own photos, and the company follows progress from the admin dashboard.

Should you pick Fotoria?
Fotoria is a straightforward substitute for a studio session when what you need is a profile picture. Upload five to ten selfies, pay once, and studio-style portraits land in your inbox within half an hour. At 29 USD for the entry pack the arithmetic is hard to argue with, against the "$300+ per session" the site quotes for a photographer, and 40 to 200 shots plus edit credits leave room to be picky. Retention is clear: uploads and outputs are deleted automatically after 30 days, with immediate manual deletion available.
The reservations are documentary rather than technical. The site contradicts itself on commercial use: the home page promises full commercial rights and ownership, while article 8 of the terms grants a personal, non-commercial licence. It states two different output resolutions on two different pages, and charges extra for print-grade upscaling. No data processing agreement is published, no hosting country or region is declared, no subprocessor handling your photos is named, and no Article 27 EU representative is appointed. Teams pricing is computed by a slider rather than printed, and the 4.8/5 rating carries no source.
It serves individuals and teams who want a presentable, consistent headshot without organising anything: job seekers, freelancers, distributed teams, new hires who missed the annual shoot. Look elsewhere if you have demanding print requirements, if procurement needs a signed DPA or a stated hosting jurisdiction, or if you hoped to automate this through an API, which does not exist. Before any commercial campaign, get the licence question answered in writing.
