What is GitLoop?
GitLoop is a context-aware AI assistant that sits on top of Git repositories rather than inside an editor. Published by SachaSoft LLC and officially launched in January 2024, it presents itself as the AI that knows your entire codebase.
The tool connects to GitHub and, since November 2024, to GitLab, through OAuth 2.0, and the user picks which repositories to synchronize. Indexing reads the code in chunks and builds a vector representation of each file, while a dedicated screen lets you exclude heavy files or folders to save tokens on large repositories. Once a repository is indexed, it can be queried in a chat box: the published examples include finding the code that handles analytics and metrics, creating a README for a whole project, generating unit tests for a billing module, and optimizing code for better event loop performance.
The chat agent is configurable rather than fixed. Users can cap the token budget of a question, set how many code snippets are retrieved, switch on smart retrieval, adjust the maximum context and answer length, choose the model, GPT-4 in the published example, and edit the system instructions.
Code review is the second pillar. Review configurations live at workspace level and cover both pull requests and commits on a branch, with auto-review triggered by real-time changes coming from GitHub. The review agent accepts custom rules: the published examples ask it to extract potential issues with a severity score from 0 to 100 percent, to check naming conventions and error handling, and to flag any change to sensitive files. A configurable ceiling on the size of a change keeps review costs predictable.
The site publishes six feature pages, covering bug resolution, documentation generation, unit test generation, fast indexing, pull request and commit review, and codebase chat, plus six use cases. It also gives away twenty-three free developer utilities such as .gitignore and Dockerfile generators, SQL and regex explainers, and various code converters.
Scope matters here. GitLoop's own comparison table against ChatGPT and Cursor leaves the coding IDE row unchecked. Access runs through the web application only: no mobile app, no browser extension, no public API.

How to use GitLoop

- Create an account on the GitLoop web application and sign in with your preferred Git provider
- Open Account Settings and connect GitHub or GitLab, granting the OAuth 2.0 authorization
- Choose which repositories to synchronize with your workspace
- In the assistant box, select a repository and paste its SSH or HTTPS link when the pop-up asks for it; you need the right permissions, or a public repository
- Launch the indexing with the play button, an un-indexed repository being flagged with a red question mark
- When the pop-up appears, exclude heavy files or folders from indexing to save tokens, which matters on large repositories
- Wait for indexing to finish, then ask a first question such as an overview of the project, and follow up from there
- Fine-tune the agent through the configuration gear of the chat box: token cap, number of snippets, smart retrieval, context size, model and system instructions
- For reviews, open Configure at the top of the review list, or go to workspace Settings then Review Configs, and create a configuration for the repository
- Pick the review type, pull request or commit on a chosen or default branch, turn on Auto Review for incoming changes, then set the length ceilings and your rule prompts

GDPR overview
GitLoop's privacy policy never mentions the GDPR. There is no stated legal basis for processing, no data protection officer, no Article 27 representative for the European Union, no published Data Processing Agreement and no subprocessor list. No hosting country or region is named, and the policy carries neither an effective date nor a last-updated date. What it does grant is a right to access, modify or delete personal information, exercised by contacting the support team, which resembles GDPR rights without being presented as such. The terms and conditions name California law as the governing law. One caveat: the publisher's own site, sachasoft.com, does carry a GDPR Rights section, but its declared scope is sachasoft.com and it does not extend to GitLoop, which publishes a separate policy.
Who owns the data?
GitLoop's privacy policy states that personal information is never sold, traded or rented to third parties, and that repository data and indexing information are encrypted, stored securely and never read or shared externally. Users keep the right to access, modify or delete their personal information by writing to the support team. The terms and conditions reserve the Service itself, meaning its original content, features and functionality, as the exclusive property of GitLoop and its licensors, a clause that covers the product rather than the customer's code. No published clause assigns ownership of the indexed source code or of the AI-generated output, so that point is left undefined.
Reuse rights
The account data GitLoop collects, namely name, email address and GitHub credentials, serves authentication and personalization, while billing details gathered at subscription are described as being used solely for billing and consumption tracking. Repository code is read in chunks and turned into a per-file vector representation so the assistant can search it, with model calls going to OpenAI, GPT-4 being named on both the chat and the review pages. The policy directs users to the privacy terms of the third-party services GitLoop connects to, GitHub being named explicitly. Nothing published restricts what a customer does with the answers, documentation or unit tests the assistant returns, and nothing states whether customer data feeds model training: the subject is never addressed.

Hosting summary
GitLoop publishes no hosting location. Neither the privacy policy, nor the terms and conditions, nor any other page names a hosting country, a region, a cloud provider or a data center. The privacy policy refers to cloud-based infrastructure for processing large repositories, and stops there. Encryption and secure storage of repository data and indexing information are asserted without technical detail, and the policy says nothing about international transfers or standard contractual clauses. For completeness, DNS resolution for the website points to 216.198.79.65, an anycast node in AS16509, Amazon.com Inc. That describes where the public website is served from, not where customer code and indexes are stored, and it should not be read as a hosting commitment.
