Overview

What is Glitter AI?

Glitter AI is an AI documentation platform published by Glitter AI, Inc., based in Dover, Delaware. Its promise sits on the home page: turn any process into a step-by-step guide. You do the task once while recording yourself, and the AI writes the procedure. The about page is blunter: Glitter AI turns a single recording of your process into a publish-ready SOP - a standard operating procedure your team can actually follow. You do the work once. We write it down. Three steps are claimed: record or upload, let the AI write, then share. Capture happens in two places, a Mac and Windows desktop app able to record any application, including Excel, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite and Photoshop, and a Chromium browser extension. A third entry point skips recording altogether: video-to-guide conversion works on any video you already own, from a Zoom or Teams meeting to a screen capture, a phone recording, or even footage of a physical process. The AI handles speech recognition in 99 languages, detects the steps, strips filler words and writes the instructions. That is the stated difference with click-only recorders such as Scribe or Tango: Glitter AI captures the voice and the context, not only the clicks. The output is a written guide with numbered screenshots, editable, shareable by link, exportable to PDF, HTML and Markdown, with Word, PowerPoint and SCORM reserved for Enterprise or add-ons, and embeddable in other tools. One click translates a finished guide into any of the 99 supported languages, layout and screenshots preserved. On the security side, the company holds a SOC 2 Type II attestation, encrypts data with AES-256 in transit and at rest, keeps guides private by default and commits contractually never to train on customer content; a HIPAA BAA is available as an add-on. The publisher claims more than 10,000 customers, an aggregate rating of 4.95 out of 5 across 99 reviews in its structured data, and a #1 Product of the Day placement on Product Hunt. It was started in 2024 by a single founder, Yuval Karmi, previously founder of Simpo, and the site chat reaches him directly. Around the product sit 315+ glossary terms, 8 ebooks and 29 comparison pages.

When to use Glitter AI / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Glitter AI is the right fit.

When to use Glitter AI

  • IT, support and customer success teams that walk colleagues or customers through the same process over and over
  • HR and L&D teams building onboarding paths and internal training material, including from an existing Zoom, Teams or Loom video library
  • Quality, compliance and healthcare teams that need auditable standard operating procedures, with a HIPAA BAA available as a paid add-on
  • Multilingual and distributed organisations, which can record in one language and publish in any of the 99 supported ones
  • Operations teams documenting heavy desktop software such as Excel, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Photoshop or Salesforce, which browser-only capture tools cannot see

When not to use Glitter AI

  • Teams that need to automate the guide lifecycle programmatically: Glitter AI publishes no public API and no documented webhooks
  • Mobile-first users: there is no native iOS or Android app, and phones are only supported by uploading a screen recording
  • Firefox or Safari users, since the browser extension covers Chromium browsers only (Chrome, Edge, Arc and Brave)
  • Anyone who wants a finished, edited video as the deliverable: the output is a written document, where a video clip is only one possible step type
  • Buyers who expect SAML SSO, an audit log, on-device blur or Word, PowerPoint and SCORM exports inside a self-serve plan, since these sit in Enterprise or in separately billed add-ons

How to use Glitter AI

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create a free account on the sign-up page, with no credit card required
  2. Install the Mac or Windows desktop app, or the Chromium browser extension - both are included in the free plan
  3. Click record, perform the task while narrating it out loud, then stop the recording
  4. Or skip recording entirely and upload a video you already have, billed 1 credit per minute rounded up to the next minute
  5. Let the AI write: around thirty seconds for the guide according to the product page, under two minutes end to end according to the about page
  6. Review and edit in the Guide Editor: reorder, rewrite, or add a step pulled from the original recording with the AI Magic Editor
  7. Annotate and blur the screenshots; on the desktop app the blur runs on-device, before anything reaches the cloud
  8. Translate if needed, at 1 credit per 500 words with a one-credit minimum, most guides costing a single credit
  9. Publish: public or private link, embed, or export to PDF, HTML or Markdown
  10. Scale it across a team with shared spaces, Creator, Viewer and Admin roles, version history and guide reassignment

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Captures the voice and the context, not only the clicks, which is exactly where click-only recorders stop
  • The desktop app and the browser extension are both included in the free plan, where several competitors charge for desktop capture
  • Converts the video library you already own, from Zoom, Teams or Loom, into written and searchable guides
  • 99 input and output languages on every tier, with one-click translation that preserves layout and screenshots
  • A no-training commitment written into the terms and extended contractually to third-party AI providers, alongside SOC 2 Type II, AES-256 encryption, private-by-default guides and on-device blurring
  • Public prices and standard contracts, enterprise included, presented as a deliberate stance of no haggling, with unit add-ons so SSO or a HIPAA BAA can be bought without moving to Enterprise
  • Credits roll over for one cycle up to twice the quota and can be bought at 1 USD each, the Team tier carries a 7-day money-back guarantee, sub-processors are published by name, service and location, and support comes from the founder himself through the site chat

Cons

  • No public API: nothing in the guide lifecycle can be automated programmatically
  • No native mobile app, phones being supported only indirectly through the upload of a screen recording, and the browser extension is limited to Chromium browsers
  • All data is hosted in the United States with no EU residency option, while the DPA itself provides for EU-to-US transfers, and neither an Article 27 EU representative nor a DPO is named
  • Governance features - SAML SSO, audit log, on-device blur, Office and SCORM exports - sit outside the self-serve tiers, as add-ons of 100 to 350 USD per month or through Enterprise; the 300 USD SSO add-on alone can cost more than the Team plan
  • Recording length is capped by tier, down to 5 minutes on the free plan, and credits are consumed as soon as a video is uploaded or a guide translated, plan credits being lost on cancellation or downgrade
  • The 99 languages are claimed but the list is published nowhere, monthly prices are absent from the static pricing page, which defaults to the annual grid, and no Enterprise price is public despite the transparency discourse
  • A young publisher, founded in 2024, with a single founder, which creates a dependency on one person; and one account is licensed to one person, with no sharing allowed

The lowest paid entry point is the Pro tier at 16.00 USD per seat per month on an annual commitment, that is 192 USD per year for a single seat; billed monthly, the same tier costs 20 USD per month. Team is 12 USD per seat per month on an annual commitment, or 720 USD per year for the five included seats, and 75 USD per month when billed monthly. Enterprise is quote-based, billed annually and paid on NET 30 invoicing. An annual commitment carries a 20% discount. Credits are billed separately from seats, at 1 credit for 1 USD, with 240 USD of credits per seat per year on Pro and 1,200 USD per year on Team; additional credits can be bought at 1 USD each and stay valid for one year. Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Glitter AI handles your data.

GDPR overview

The claim is explicit in the pricing FAQ: We are fully EU GDPR compliant. Concrete mentions back it up. A published Data Processing Addendum applies automatically once the terms are accepted, makes the customer controller and Glitter AI processor, and annexes Standard Contractual Clauses (Exhibit B) covering EU-to-US transfers, with privacy@glitter.io named as data importer. Access, export and deletion rights are announced as available at any time, with a 45-day response window for a valid request, and the minimum age is 16. Two gaps are visible: no Article 27 EU representative and no Data Protection Officer are named on any page, and the company plus all ten sub-processors sit in the United States with no EU residency option. The privacy policy itself, effective 23 August 2025, is written around the Californian CCPA and never names the GDPR: the European mechanics live entirely in the DPA.

Who owns the data?

The customer keeps ownership: Customer shall retain all right, title and interest in and to the Customer Data, including all intellectual property rights therein. Glitter AI grants itself an internal licence to use and modify that content to provide, test and improve the service, and to derive Aggregated Anonymous Data it may exploit freely, marketing included, once it cannot be traced back to the customer. Under the DPA the customer is controller and Glitter AI processor, returning or securely deleting personal data at contract end. Customer Data may be deleted after 90 days of non-payment, and personal data may pass to an acquirer in a merger, acquisition or bankruptcy.

Reuse rights

Guides created with Glitter AI belong to the customer, who can edit, export, share, embed and reuse them freely, without asking permission. On the publisher's side, the terms commit that Glitter shall not use Customer Data to train, develop, or improve artificial intelligence or machine learning models or systems, and the security pages extend that promise contractually to every third-party AI provider: We never have, and never will, use your content to train AI models, nor allow any third-parties to do so. Those providers are bound by a DPA, have opted out of training and fine-tuning, and delete customer data within 30 days of processing, most of them immediately after the guide is generated. Glitter AI acts as a CCPA service provider and reports no sale of personal data over the past twelve months. Account and usage data (name, email, phone, postal address, card details handled by Stripe, IP address, device, operating system and browser) is nonetheless shared with service providers and with advertising and analytics partners. Guides are private by default, with on-device redaction before upload and cloud redaction that permanently overwrites earlier versions.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept for as long as the account remains open, or as long as necessary to provide the service; it may be kept longer for legal obligations, disputes or debt collection, and indefinitely once anonymised or aggregated. Third-party AI providers delete customer data within 30 days of processing, most of them immediately after the guide is generated. Cloud redaction permanently overwrites every earlier version of a screenshot and cannot be undone, and Customer Data may be deleted after 90 days of non-payment. Under the Data Processing Addendum, personal data is returned or securely deleted at the customer's choice when the service ends, and custom retention is available on Enterprise. Deletion can be requested at any time, with a valid request answered within 45 days. No fixed retention period after account closure is published.

Hosting summary

All data is stored in US-based data centers, as the pricing FAQ states, with no EU data-residency option. The full sub-processor list is published and was last updated on 4 August 2026: ten providers, every one of them located in the United States. Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Vercel handle cloud hosting, Google Cloud and OpenAI the AI services, ElevenLabs speech synthesis, Stripe payments, Intercom customer support, Sentry error monitoring, GitHub code hosting and Mixpanel product analytics. Data is encrypted with AES-256 in transit and at rest, and the company holds a SOC 2 Type II attestation. Transfers from the European Union to those US servers are framed by the Standard Contractual Clauses annexed to the Data Processing Addendum, with privacy@glitter.io acting as data importer. On the desktop app, blurring can run on-device, so the masked content never leaves the machine.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Glitter AI.

  • The prices shown by default on the pricing page are the annual ones; monthly billing is more expensive, 20 USD instead of 16 on Pro, and only appears once the billing selector is switched
  • Plan credits are lost at the end of the cycle on cancellation or downgrade, only purchased credits surviving for one year, and rollover is capped at twice the quota
  • Add-ons stack up fast: SSO at 300, HIPAA BAA at 350 and audit log at 150 USD per month together far exceed the cost of the Team plan, and extra seats are billed immediately, for the remainder of the year on an annual plan
  • One account equals one person, and account sharing is explicitly forbidden
  • Hosting is exclusively American with no EU option, no Article 27 representative and no DPO, a real point of attention for a European compliance officer; the privacy policy, dated 23 August 2025, never names the GDPR, whose mechanics live in the DPA
  • Personal data may be transferred to an acquirer in a merger, acquisition or bankruptcy, and Customer Data may be deleted after 90 days of non-payment
  • Cancellation requires 30 days' notice before the renewal date and price changes are notified 90 days ahead; and because a generated guide only reflects what was said and shown during the recording, it deserves a human review before it becomes the reference procedure
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low. Creating an account is free and needs no credit card, the home page promising Setup in seconds, and the only installation is a desktop app or a browser extension: no code, no connector, no API to plug in. The product page claims Your First Guide Takes 60 Seconds and No learning curve. On the administration side, seats, roles and teams are managed in self-service from the settings. The only genuinely technical work is SAML SSO with Okta or Azure AD, available on Enterprise or as an add-on, and the setup of secure embeds.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does Glitter AI do?
It turns a screen recording or an existing video into a step-by-step guide, with the screenshots and the text generated by AI.
Do I have to record, or can I start from a video I already have?
Both work. Any Zoom or Teams meeting, Loom video, screen capture, phone recording or filmed sequence of a physical process can be converted into a guide.
Which platforms can I capture from, and is there a mobile app?
A Mac and Windows desktop app that records any application, and a Chromium browser extension for Chrome, Edge, Arc and Brave. There is no native mobile app: on a phone you upload a screen recording instead.
How many languages are supported?
99 are claimed for input and output, plus one-click AI translation. The full list is not published anywhere on the site, and only Hebrew and Arabic are named explicitly.
What does the free plan include?
10 guides in total, 5 minutes per recording, the desktop app and the browser extension, and AI Speech to Text, with no credit card required.
How much does the cheapest paid tier cost?
Pro, at 16 USD per seat per month on an annual commitment, that is 192 USD per year, or 20 USD per month when billed monthly.
What are the credits used for?
Only for video-to-guide conversion, at 1 credit per minute, and for translation, at 1 credit per 500 words. Recording itself costs no credits.
Is my content used to train AI models?
No. The commitment is written into the subscription terms and extended contractually to third-party AI providers, which delete customer data within 30 days of processing.
Where is the data hosted, and which certifications exist?
In US-based data centers, with no EU option; EU transfers are covered by a DPA with Standard Contractual Clauses. The company holds SOC 2 Type II, encrypts with AES-256, and offers a HIPAA BAA as an add-on.
Is there an API, and how do I export a guide?
There is no public API and no published API documentation. Guides export to PDF, HTML, Markdown and Smart Copy-to-Clipboard, with Word, PowerPoint and SCORM on Enterprise or as add-ons, plus embedding in 100+ platforms.
Conclusion

Should you pick Glitter AI?

Glitter AI is a narrowly focused tool: documenting on-screen procedures quickly, without writing them. Its structural strength is the combination of voice and context capture, not just clicks, and the ability to convert video you already own, which turns an existing Zoom, Teams or Loom library into searchable written guides. For a publisher of this size the data posture is solid: SOC 2 Type II, AES-256 encryption, a contractual no-training commitment extended to third-party AI providers, private-by-default guides, and sub-processors published by name, service and location. The main reservation is geographic and functional. Everything lives in the United States, with no EU residency option, no Article 27 representative and no DPO. There is no public API and no native mobile app. And the governance features a larger organisation will ask for, from SAML SSO and audit logs to on-device blur and Office or SCORM exports, are billed separately, as add-ons of 100 to 350 USD per month or through Enterprise, which can quickly overtake the cost of the plan itself. The publisher is young, founded in 2024, around a single founder: an asset for support responsiveness, since the site chat goes straight to him, but also a dependency on one person. Pricing is unusually transparent for the category, though no Enterprise figure is public and the pricing page defaults to annual rates. For a team of technical writers, IT, support, L&D or compliance people who produce procedures continuously, the fit is direct. For anyone who needs programmatic automation, EU data residency or mobile-native capture, it is not. The free plan, 10 guides, permanent and without a credit card, is broad enough to let you decide for yourself before paying.
