Overview

What is Graphy?

Graphy is an AI-assisted chart maker built around data storytelling rather than dashboarding. It is published by Graphy Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 11994729, with a registered office at Octagon Point, 5 Cheapside, London. The homepage claims more than 300,000 data storytellers use it.

The product follows four steps. First you add data: link a live Google Sheet, upload a CSV or Excel file, paste or type values, call the API, or ask the AI to go and find figures. Graphy states there is no need to prepare or format anything beforehand. Second, the AI inspects every row and returns the three clearest charts, each with a headline take-away, and shows how it got there; if none of them is what you wanted, you ask for something else in plain language. Third, you brand the result — colours, fonts and, on the top tier, saved brand kits — then annotate it with callouts, stickers and a difference arrow that calculates the gap between two points. Fourth, you export or embed it into slides, social posts, documents or team updates.

Around that core sit twenty-five free chart makers covering bars, lines, time series, pie and donut charts, funnels, heatmaps, Mekko, bubble, scatter, waterfall, Likert scales and tables. A second, developer-facing side offers the same rendering as a React library, @graphysdk/core: one typed GraphConfig object drives every chart type, a mode="editor" prop opens in-place editing for non-developers, and an agents SDK edits a chart from a plain-English instruction. The maths runs in the engine rather than in the model, and the chart type is picked by scoring rules.

Graphy is candid about its ceiling: in its own published comparison it scores lowest on flexibility, with no small multiples, no map projections and no public plugin system, and the SDK is still pre-1.0.

What it does

  • Turn a spreadsheet, CSV or live Google Sheet into a finished chart in one click
  • Ask the AI which three charts best explain a dataset, each with a headline takeaway
  • Chat with your data to get the right chart, insight or answer in seconds
  • Apply your brand colours, fonts and logo across every chart at once
  • Annotate results with callouts, stickers and difference arrows that compute the gap for you
  • Export, embed or share charts into slides, documents, social posts and team updates
  • Embed editable charts inside your own React product through the SDK and chart API

When to use Graphy / When not to

A quick filter to help you decide if Graphy is the right fit.

When to use Graphy

  • Marketers and growth teams who rebuild the same campaign report every week
  • Data and BI analysts who need a presentation-ready chart faster than a dashboard
  • Founders and product managers preparing board memos, investor updates and pitch decks
  • Finance and operations teams turning spreadsheets into readable monthly reporting
  • React developers embedding editable, on-brand charts inside their own product

When not to use Graphy

  • Analysts who need joins, binning or regression handled inside the chart definition itself
  • Teams that require small multiples, map projections or a plugin system, none of which exist yet
  • Buyers who must see a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate before signing anything
  • Organisations exploring very large datasets interactively, where Tableau or Power BI still fit better
  • Anyone who wants to trial a paid tier before paying, since only the free plan is offered
Get started

How to use Graphy

A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.

  1. Create an account from the Start for free or Sign up button; the app itself runs on visualize.graphy.app
  2. Add your data: link a live Google Sheet, upload a CSV or Excel file, paste values, call the API, or ask the AI to find data
  3. Skip cleaning and formatting, which Graphy says it handles on ingestion
  4. Let the AI inspect the rows and propose the three clearest charts with their headline takeaways
  5. Ask for a different chart in plain language if the suggestion is not what you had in mind
  6. Apply your brand: colours and fonts on Plus, saved brand kits on Business
  7. Annotate the chart with callouts, stickers and difference arrows to point at what matters
  8. Export as an image, embed the chart, or push it to slides, documents and social channels
  9. On Business, switch on automatic Google Sheets refresh and protect share links with a password
  10. For product teams: install @graphysdk/core, define a typed GraphConfig, and render it with GraphProvider and Graph

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A permanent free plan rather than a countdown trial, with five charts and unrestricted sharing
  • No data preparation, SQL or design skill needed to reach a publishable chart
  • The AI proposes the chart and the takeaway, not only the drawing
  • Brand identity applied across every chart in one move
  • The same charts are available as a no-code app and as an embeddable React SDK
  • Calculations run in a deterministic engine instead of the language model
  • Both paid tiers carry public, readable prices with no mandatory sales call

Cons

  • The free plan stops at five charts, limits AI use and stamps a Graphy watermark
  • No free trial of a paid tier, and per-seat pricing climbs quickly with team size
  • The terms state fees are non-refundable and guarantee no specific technical support
  • There is no contact or support page, and the only published addresses sit on a separate domain
  • No security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 and no subprocessor list are published
  • The developer SDK is pre-1.0, shipped as a private package priced only after a sales call
  • Graphy itself concedes the lowest customisation ceiling in its comparison: no small multiples, map projections or plugins

Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Graphy handles your data.

GDPR overview

Graphy applies the UK GDPR rather than the EU regime, consistent with a company registered in England and Wales. The privacy notice, last updated on 15 April 2024, names a legal basis for each purpose: Article 6(1)(b) for account creation, Article 6(1)(f) for onboarding calls, service messages and marketing. Seven data-subject rights are set out, including access, objection, erasure and portability; requests are free, answered within one calendar month, and sent to privacy@graphyapp.com or the London address. Complaints go to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. The terms add processor duties: documented instructions, no transfer outside the UK or EEA without safeguards, breach notification without undue delay, deletion or return at termination, and one audit a year. No EU Article 27 representative is named, and the site never writes the words GDPR compliant.

Who owns the data?

The terms draw a clear line. You own all right, title and interest in Customer Data that is not personal data, and you remain solely responsible for its legality, accuracy and quality. Where personal data is involved, you are the controller and Graphy is the processor, acting only on your documented written instructions. Your data is treated as your confidential information. Graphy may appoint third-party processors under substantially similar terms and stays fully liable for them. On termination it may destroy your data unless you ask in writing, within ten days, for the latest backup, which it then delivers within thirty days at your reasonable expense.

Reuse rights

You may reuse your own output freely and without asking: charts can be exported as images, embedded on other sites, shared by link or posted to social channels, and the free plan explicitly allows sharing anywhere. What the terms forbid is reselling or redistributing the software itself, or using it to build a competing product. On Graphy's side, account details such as work email, job title, company name and size are processed to perform the contract, while onboarding calls are recorded under legitimate interest. If you switch on the AI features, your data may be processed in the United States by OpenAI under Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, and Graphy states that OpenAI will not use it for model training. Data reached through Google Workspace APIs by the Google Slides add-on is never shared, transferred or disclosed, including to develop or train generalised AI models.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Graphy keeps customer personal data while you are a customer and for up to three months after you leave. Financial records are held for at least six years, as UK law requires. Job applicants' data is removed twelve months after the process ends unless they are hired. Marketing contacts stay on the list until they unsubscribe; those who do are moved to a do-not-contact list, where their name and email are kept precisely so they are not approached again. Under the terms you can instruct Graphy in writing to delete or return personal data when the contract ends, deletion meaning the data is put beyond use. Customer data may otherwise be destroyed after termination unless you ask for the latest backup within ten days. The internal retention schedule itself is not published.

Hosting summary

Graphy states that most of the data it processes is stored in the European Economic Area, including its platform servers. No specific hosting country and no cloud provider is named. Transfers to a third country such as the United States are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and, where necessary, the UK Addendum. Those transfers are concrete rather than theoretical: the AI features may be processed in the United States by OpenAI, the CRM, email and mail-merge tools sit in both the EEA and the United States, and hiring platforms and video interviewing are partly US-based. The terms add that personal data may be transferred or stored outside the United Kingdom and the EEA, but never without appropriate safeguards. One caveat on reading the technical record: the marketing site resolves to an Amazon anycast node in the United States, which describes how the website is delivered and not where customer data lives. The governing jurisdiction is the United Kingdom — the vendor is registered in England and Wales, applies the UK GDPR, and names the Information Commissioner's Office as its supervisory authority.

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Graphy.

  • An automatically generated chart looks authoritative whatever the data behind it; polish is not evidence, and a wrong figure becomes more persuasive once it is beautifully drawn
  • Letting the AI pick the chart type erodes the habit of choosing it yourself, and with it the ability to notice when the choice is wrong
  • Annotation tools built to highlight the big wins make selective storytelling easy: the feature that clarifies is the same one that can mislead an audience
  • Importing a spreadsheet can send commercial or personal data to a third-party model provider in the United States, so check what the file actually contains before uploading it
  • Fees are non-refundable and subscriptions renew automatically unless you give notice thirty days before the term ends
  • Your data may be destroyed after termination unless you send a written retrieval request within ten days
  • No security certification and no subprocessor list are published, so a regulated buyer cannot complete due diligence from the site alone
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

Very low for the web app. Nothing to install: sign up with an email, then link a Google Sheet or upload a CSV or Excel file. Graphy states no data preparation, no OAuth wiring and no data scientist are needed, and an account is only required to save, embed or use AI features. The developer path asks more: install @graphysdk/core, define a typed GraphConfig and render two React components. It works with npm, yarn, pnpm and bun, and with Next.js, Vite or Remix, but the package is private and access follows a sales call.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a genuinely free version of Graphy?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and does not expire. It covers five charts, lets you share them anywhere and gives limited access to the AI features, but it applies a Graphy watermark. It is the only way to try the product: no free trial of a paid tier is advertised.
How much does Graphy cost?
Plus is listed at USD 16 per user per month and Business at USD 36 per user per month. Those are the figures displayed alongside the annual billing toggle and its 20% discount badge, so they correspond to an annual commitment; the monthly rate is not shown in the page source. Fees exclude VAT and are non-refundable.
What data sources can Graphy read?
You can link a live Google Sheet, upload a CSV or Excel file, paste or type values directly, call the API, or ask the AI to search for data. Graphy states you do not need to prepare or format the file first. Automatic Google Sheets refresh is reserved for the Business plan.
Can I remove the Graphy watermark?
Yes, from the Plus plan upwards. Removing the Graphy logo is listed as a Plus feature, together with custom colours, unlimited charts and unlimited AI features. Business adds saved brand kits so a whole team applies the same identity.
Does Graphy have an API or a developer SDK?
Yes. Graphy publishes a chart API and a React library, @graphysdk/core, driven by a single typed GraphConfig object, plus an agents SDK that edits a chart from a plain-English prompt. The package is private and licensed: access runs through an npm token tied to your account, granted after a call with the team, and no price is published.
Where is my data hosted, and is it used to train AI models?
The privacy notice says most data, including the platform servers, sits in the European Economic Area, with transfers to countries such as the United States covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum. If you use the AI features, data may be processed in the United States by OpenAI, and Graphy states OpenAI will not use it for model training. No specific hosting country or cloud provider is named.
How long does Graphy keep my data?
Personal data is kept while you are a customer and for up to three months after you leave. Financial records are held for at least six years under UK law. After termination Graphy may destroy your customer data unless you request the latest backup in writing within ten days.
Is there a mobile app?
No iOS or Android app is published, and the site carries no App Store or Google Play badge. Graphy is a web application, complemented by a browser extension that pulls charts out of Google products and a Google Slides add-on for viewing and embedding your charts in presentations.
Who is behind Graphy?
Graphy Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales under number 11994729, with a registered office at Octagon Point, 5 Cheapside, London EC2V 6AA. The careers page credits two childhood friends, Roman and Andrey, with founding it after running a data visualisation studio.
How do I cancel a paid plan?
Through the Manage Subscription option inside the application, or by written notice to hello@graphyapp.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term. Subscriptions otherwise renew automatically, and the terms require notice at least thirty days before the term ends.
Conclusion

Should you pick Graphy?

Graphy answers a narrow, common frustration well: you have a spreadsheet, you need a chart other people will actually read, and you do not want to spend an afternoon in Excel or wait on the analytics team. Point it at a Google Sheet or a CSV and it returns branded, annotated charts with a headline takeaway attached, then gets out of the way so you can drop the result into a deck, a document or a social post. For marketers, founders, product managers and finance teams, that is a real saving, and the permanent free plan means the claim can be tested before any money changes hands.

The vendor is unusually easy to identify — a British company with a published registered office, named investors and named staff — and unusually candid about limits, publishing a comparison in which its own flexibility scores lowest. Treat that candour as a guide: if you need joins, binning or regression inside the chart, small multiples or map projections, this is not the tool.

Three reservations deserve weight before committing. Pricing is per seat and the displayed rate reflects an annual commitment, so a team of ten costs considerably more than the headline suggests, and fees are non-refundable. Support is not contractually guaranteed and the site has no contact page at all. And a security-conscious buyer will find no certification, no subprocessor list and a privacy notice last updated in April 2024 — enough to slow a procurement review even though the data protection drafting itself is careful.

Start on the free plan, confirm the charts are the ones you would have chosen yourself, and price the seats honestly before upgrading.
