Overview

What is Healing Journey?

Healing Journey is a browser-based mental health support platform where users hold written conversations with AI therapists. It is published by Healing Journey LTD under United Kingdom law, has been online since mid-2024, and still carries a beta label in the header of every page.

The service opens on four ready-made personas that can be browsed without an account: Gus, oriented toward low mood and loneliness; Emma, focused on couple therapy, communication and trust; Ethan, dedicated to self-esteem and personal growth; and a generalist Psychological support AI. A second tab, Famous Personas, offers AI versions of historical figures such as Freud and Jung according to the About page. Conversations are text only and run in one of eight languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Japanese.

Three claims carry the homepage: privacy, with conversations presented as end-to-end encrypted; availability around the clock; and human supervision, the publisher stating that mental health professionals guide the AI profiles. The FAQ adds that the platform runs on an in-house fine-tuned model shaped by real therapists and doctors, while the homepage advertises more than one billion insights without explaining the figure.

The terms of service are unusually direct about what the product is not. Section 4 states that the AI therapists are no substitute for professional therapy or medical care, that no personalised assessment of a user's mental health takes place, and that no outcome is guaranteed. The About page holds the same line, presenting the tool as a first step for people held back by fear, stigma or cost rather than as a replacement for a counsellor.

Access is web only: there is no iOS or Android application and no public API. An account is optional at the start and can be opened three ways, through Google, an email sign-in link, or an email and password. The economic model is freemium: free features to get started, then premium access and a credit system payable by bank card or Patreon. No amount is published anywhere on the site.

Signs of an unfinished product remain visible: the FAQ video tab still shows placeholder text, and the articles section stopped in December 2024.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Immediate access with no appointment, no waiting list and no office hours
  • Specialised personas rather than a single generic assistant
  • A genuine free tier that lets you test the tool before paying anything
  • Eight conversation languages
  • Honest positioning: the site repeats that it does not replace a therapist
  • Legal documents present and dated, both in force since 25 October 2024
  • No geographic restriction declared anywhere on the site

Cons

  • No public price: the subscription page returns no product and every pricing URL tested elsewhere does not exist
  • No postal address, no company number and no legal notice page anywhere on the site
  • A single email address covers legal, GDPR and support matters, and it is obfuscated in the page source
  • No data processing agreement, no subprocessor list and no named hosting country
  • Nothing states whether conversations feed model training, and no opt-out is documented
  • No minimum age is published for a mental health service, and the section meant to cover it duplicates another paragraph
  • Still in beta, with a placeholder FAQ video tab and an articles section stalled since December 2024
Pricing

Pricing & Plans

Healing Journey operates on a freemium basis. A free tier gives access to introductory features, including first sessions with the virtual therapists, and the FAQ describes the paid offer only as a range of affordable plans. Paid access takes two forms, a premium subscription and a separate credit purchase, payable by bank card or through Patreon. No amount is public: the subscription page loads its price at runtime and returns no product, no other pricing page exists, and no archived snapshot of the subscription page has ever recorded a figure. The entry price therefore cannot be stated.

Plan 1
Free tier
  • introductory features and first sessions with the AI therapists
  • no payment involved
Plan 3
Credits
  • purchasable credit packs offered alongside the subscription
  • with no public price grid
Prices and plans listed above may evolve. Always check the official pricing page before subscribing.
Trust & Privacy

Data, GDPR & hosting

A consolidated view of how Healing Journey handles your data.

GDPR overview

GDPR compliance is claimed explicitly. The privacy policy, in force since 25 October 2024, states that it is maintained in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation, and section 10 lists access, portability, rectification, restriction, erasure, objection, withdrawal of consent, the right to be informed, the right to complain to a local supervisory authority, and rights relating to automated decision-making, exercisable at any time with a ten-working-day reply. The implementation stops there. No data protection officer, no Article 27 representative, no subprocessor list and no data processing agreement are published. International transfers outside the United Kingdom are acknowledged without naming a safeguard. Two sections, on breach notification and children's privacy, duplicate other paragraphs and therefore document nothing.

Who owns the data?

Healing Journey is named as the controller of all personal data collected through the site, reachable at a single contact address. Users keep the full set of GDPR rights over their own data, including access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent, with a stated ten-working-day response window. The vendor undertakes not to sell, distribute or transfer personal data to unauthorised third parties without explicit consent or a legal obligation, and commits to notifying users before any transfer following a merger or acquisition. Site content, trademarks and software belong to the publisher, but no clause assigns ownership of the conversations themselves to either party.

Reuse rights

Nothing in the terms grants the end user any reuse right beyond personal consultation. Section 6 restricts all material on the site to limited, non-commercial, personal use and forbids copying, republishing, selling, transmitting or redistributing it without prior written permission, along with any modification of that material. Section 9 goes further and prohibits scraping, automated extraction, framing, mirroring and deep-linking. On the user's own side, personal data can be downloaded through the portability right described in the privacy policy, but the exchanges themselves are covered by no export or reuse clause: the site simply does not address what a user may do with a conversation once it has taken place.

Data retention & training

Retention summary
Personal data is kept for as long as it takes to provide the service and meet the stated purposes, or until the user stops using the service, closes the account or asks for deletion. The publisher may keep it longer where the user has consented and not withdrawn that consent, or where a legal obligation or an order from an authority requires it. Once the retention period ends, the data is deleted. One consequence is spelled out and matters: after that point, the rights of access, deletion, rectification and portability can no longer be exercised. Closing the account deletes the personal data provided. No figure is given anywhere, for conversations or for anything else, and no anonymisation process is described. Information sent by email is stored with the mail provider rather than on the publisher's own servers.
Trains on customer data
Unclear

Hosting summary

No hosting location is disclosed. The privacy policy acknowledges only that personal data may be transferred to and processed outside the United Kingdom, because the publisher relies on storage services whose servers may be located in other countries, and it commits in general terms to taking reasonable steps to keep that data adequately protected during any international transfer. No country is named, no region is named, no provider is named, and no transfer mechanism such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision is invoked. No subprocessor list and no data processing agreement are published. The applicable law is that of the United Kingdom, and the site describes itself as maintained in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR. The domain sits behind a content delivery network, which says nothing about where processing actually takes place. Anyone with a jurisdiction requirement will need written confirmation from the publisher before using the service.

Watch-outs

Things to keep in mind

Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Healing Journey.

  • Emotional dependence: a companion available at every hour, with no session limit and no clinician noticing a pattern, can quietly replace the human contact it was meant to prepare
  • Crisis handling: no emergency or escalation procedure is documented, so a user in acute distress may find nothing but a chatbot on the other side
  • Sensitive data with no visible perimeter: conversations carry health confidences while no hosting country, subprocessor or transfer safeguard is named
  • Model training left unanswered: nothing says whether exchanges feed the AI, and no opt-out is offered
  • Unrestricted access by minors: no minimum age is published, and the policy section that should cover it duplicates unrelated text
  • Marketing reuse of contact details: the privacy policy allows email addresses to be shared with bulk mailing providers
  • Press credibility: two of the three media mentions on the homepage trace back to a paid press release, not to independent reporting
Setup

Setup & Integrations

Technical difficulty

None worth the name. Everything happens in a browser: there is nothing to install, no key to generate, no integration to configure. The chat opens from the homepage, and an account only becomes useful when you want to keep a history, at which point Google sign-in takes one click. The short onboarding form asks for age, gender, current feeling and what you are looking for, and takes under a minute. The only real friction is payment, which requires filling in bank card details or going through Patreon.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Healing Journey?
A browser-based platform for psychological support, where users chat in writing with AI therapists. Four personas cover low mood and loneliness, couple therapy, self-esteem and general support, and a second tab offers AI versions of historical figures such as Freud and Jung. The publisher states that mental health professionals guide the AI profiles and that the platform runs on an in-house fine-tuned model.
Does it replace a therapist?
No, and the terms of service say so plainly. Section 4 states that the AI therapists are no substitute for professional psychological therapy or medical care, that the exchange involves no personalised assessment of your mental health, and that no outcome is guaranteed. The About page follows the same line, presenting the platform as a first step rather than a replacement for a counsellor.
Is there a free version, and how much does the paid one cost?
There is a free tier covering introductory features and first sessions. A premium subscription and a credit system exist beyond it, payable by bank card or Patreon, but no amount is published: the subscription page loads its price at runtime and returns no product, and no other pricing page exists on the site.
How many languages are supported?
The language selector shipped with the chat interface lists eight: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Japanese. The FAQ on the site claims up to ten, a figure its own interface does not support.
Do I need an account?
Not to start browsing the personas, but an account is needed to keep a history. Three routes are offered: signing in with Google, receiving a sign-in link by email, or creating an email and password pair. Accounts can be closed at any time from the settings or by writing to the contact address, which also deletes the personal data provided.
Are my conversations used to train the AI?
The site does not answer this. The privacy policy states that content entered when chatting with the AI therapists is collected, processed and stored solely for the provision and improvement of the services, without ever addressing model training, and no opt-out is documented anywhere.
Where is my data hosted?
No country, region or provider is named. The privacy policy only acknowledges that personal data may be transferred to and processed outside the United Kingdom, through storage services whose servers may sit in other countries, with a generic commitment to reasonable protective steps and no named transfer safeguard.
Is there a minimum age?
None is published. The privacy policy contains a section headed as children's online privacy, but its body reproduces the paragraph on email communications, so no age rule is actually stated for what is a mental health service.
Is there a mobile app or an API?
Neither. Access is through the browser only. No App Store or Google Play link appears anywhere on the site, and no API documentation exists; the terms refer to desktop, mobile and tablet access, which describes a responsive website rather than a native application.
Who is behind the platform?
The terms name Healing Journey LTD and place the service under the law and courts of the United Kingdom. Beyond that, the site publishes no postal address, no company number and no named member of the team, and offers a single contact email address for legal, privacy and support matters alike.
Conclusion

Should you pick Healing Journey?

Healing Journey does one thing and states its limits while doing it. The tool gives immediate written access to specialised AI personas at any hour, costs nothing to try, and repeats across its homepage, About page and terms that it is a complement to therapy rather than a substitute for it. For someone hesitating before a first appointment, or looking for somewhere to think out loud between two sessions, that is a defensible proposition, and the testimonials the site publishes describe exactly those uses.

The reservations are about transparency rather than intent. The publisher is identified only by a company name quoted in the terms, with no postal address, no company number and no named team member; a single email address, hidden behind an obfuscation token in the page source, serves legal, privacy and support enquiries alike. No price appears anywhere, including on the subscription page itself. No hosting country, no subprocessor and no data processing agreement is disclosed, and nothing states whether conversations feed model training. For a service that collects mental health confidences, that silence weighs more than it would elsewhere.

Two sections of the privacy policy, on breach notification and children's privacy, reproduce other paragraphs word for word, which means the document has not been read through since it was assembled. The absence of any published minimum age, and of any documented crisis procedure, follows from the same lack of finish, as do the placeholder FAQ video tab and the articles section stalled since December 2024. The beta label in the header is accurate.

Worth trying for what it openly is: a free, always-available first step. Worth weighing carefully before entrusting it with anything you would not want processed in an undisclosed jurisdiction.
