Healthee
Healthee is an AI-powered health benefits navigation platform for US employers. Its assistant Zoe answers coverage questions using each employee's real plan data, while claims analytics and fraud detection help finance teams contain healthcare spend.
What is Healthee?
Healthee is an AI-powered health benefits navigation and cost-containment platform published by Insurights, Inc. dba Healthee, a New York company. It sits on top of an employer's existing carriers, third-party administrators and benefits administration systems rather than replacing any of them, and describes itself as carrier-agnostic and vendor-agnostic.
The centrepiece is Zoe, a virtual health assistant wired into each employee's own plan documents, deductible status, provider network and cost-transparency data. Ask whether a specialist is in network, what an MRI will cost, or which plan to pick at open enrollment, and the answer reflects that person's actual coverage rather than generic insurance guidance. Healthee is explicit that Zoe is not a generic large language model wrapper: LLM components sit inside a platform built specifically for benefits and connected to live plan data.
Around Zoe sit a dozen modules. Employees get a plan comparison tool that models premiums against expected out-of-pocket costs before recommending an option, cost transparency across in-network, out-of-network and cash-pay prices, provider search, telehealth at no cost to them, digital insurance IDs with real-time deductible tracking, pharmacy management and appointment booking. Employers get an AI fraud, waste and abuse engine that flags upcoding, duplicate billing and unbundling before or shortly after payment, plus claims analytics surfacing cost drivers and utilisation trends in real time. Healthee Access adds a bundled cash-pay network at pre-negotiated rates, and Healthee Marketplace curates third-party point solutions.
The platform is sold to mid-size and enterprise employers, benefits advisors, brokers, TPAs and PEOs, and reaches more than a million US households. Employees use it through iOS and Android apps, a browser, or inside Workday, where Healthee is a Wellness Partner. Anything Zoe cannot settle escalates to bilingual human Benefits Specialists.
The outcomes Healthee publishes are claimed rather than audited: 87% less HR administrative workload, 70% fewer benefits calls, nine hours saved per HR team each week. Pricing is never published.
What it does
- Answer any coverage, provider or cost question in plain language, around the clock, using the employee's actual plan
- Recommend the right health plan at open enrollment by modelling premiums against expected out-of-pocket costs
- Show what a visit, procedure or prescription will cost before care happens, in-network, out-of-network or cash-pay
- Detect fraud, waste and abuse in claims, flagging upcoding, duplicate billing and unbundling for recoupment
- Turn claims data into live analytics on cost drivers, utilisation and savings opportunities
- Connect employees to 24/7 telehealth and book appointments with in-network providers
- Track deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums and serve digital insurance ID cards on demand
When to use Healthee / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Healthee is the right fit.
When to use Healthee
- HR teams at mid-size to enterprise US employers who are buried under repetitive benefits questions and want open enrollment to run itself
- Finance leaders and CFOs chasing healthcare cost containment, especially at self-insured companies where claims analytics and fraud detection pay for themselves
- Benefits advisors and insurance brokers who want an AI layer to differentiate their offer without disturbing the carrier relationships they already own
- Third-party administrators looking to lift member experience and improve medical loss ratios across a whole book of business
- Professional employer organisations that need one consistent benefits navigation experience deployed across many client companies at once
When not to use Healthee
- Anyone outside the United States: the entire product is built on US insurance mechanics such as SBCs, EOBs, deductibles, HDHP and PPO plans and open enrollment
- Individuals who want to buy for themselves, since access always comes through an employer and there is no self-service sign-up
- Small teams with no benefits budget, given that pricing is quote-only and scaled to headcount and modules
- Organisations needing something live this month, as implementation runs roughly six to eight weeks from signature to employee launch
- Anyone expecting clinical care or diagnosis: the terms state plainly that Healthee is not a licensed medical professional and its materials are not medical devices
How to use Healthee
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo through the three-step form on the site, since there is no self-service trial or individual sign-up
- Take the scoping call, where a Healthee expert reviews your headcount, current benefits setup and objectives
- Receive a tailored proposal reflecting the modules and engagement structure that fit your organisation
- Sign, then hand over your plan documents: summaries of benefits and coverage, evidence of coverage and supporting summaries
- Supply eligibility data, meaning employee enrollment records, plan selections and dependent coverage
- Share your integration details so Healthee can connect to your HRIS, benefits administration platform and carrier feeds
- Let the dedicated implementation team handle technical configuration, data mapping and platform setup over roughly six to eight weeks
- Roll out to employees using the communication templates, training resources and launch materials provided
- Employees then use the iOS or Android app, a browser, or the Workday embed to ask Zoe questions and act on her answers
- Escalate complex cases such as appeals or coverage disputes to a bilingual human Benefits Specialist by chat, phone or email
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Answers come from the employee's real plan, network and deductible status rather than generic insurance information
- Unusually broad scope for one product: navigation, plan comparison, cost transparency, telehealth, pharmacy, ID cards, analytics and anti-fraud
- Layers onto the existing benefits stack, so no carrier, TPA or administration platform has to be replaced
- Serious compliance posture for health data, with SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, HIPAA and CCPA all claimed
- Explicit commitment that protected health information and identifiable employee data are not used to train AI models, plus a contractual training opt-out
- Human bilingual Benefits Specialists take over whenever the AI cannot resolve a case
- Available on iOS, Android and web, and embedded natively inside Workday for employers already on that stack
Cons
- No public pricing at all, so no organisation can judge fit or budget before a sales conversation
- United States only in practice, and unusable anywhere the American health insurance model does not apply
- No individual access whatsoever: your employer has to be a customer
- Six to eight weeks of implementation, plus eligibility data and plan documents to hand over before anything goes live
- Published results are self-reported, with no methodology and clients described only as an unnamed food distributor or e-commerce company
- The AI licence in the terms is very wide, worldwide, perpetual and sublicensable over inputs and outputs, which sits awkwardly beside the processor stance
- Thin transparency in places: no published subprocessor list, AI model suppliers disclosed only on request, no named support email, and a Trust Center that returns nothing without JavaScript
Pricing & Plans
Healthee does not publish any price. The FAQ states plainly that fixed pricing is not made public because the right configuration varies significantly by organisation, and no pricing page exists anywhere on the site. Quotes are built around three variables: the size of the employer, the specific modules deployed, and the structure of the engagement, whether direct employer, broker-led, TPA or PEO. No permanent free plan and no free trial are advertised, and none is denied either. The only free element mentioned is on the employee side, where telehealth visits carry no cost. Obtaining a figure requires requesting a demo and completing a scoping conversation.
- Direct employer engagement — custom quote based on headcount and the modules deployed
- no public rate card
- Broker or benefits advisor led engagement — custom quote through the partner programme for advisors bringing Healthee to their clients
- TPA engagement — custom quote for third-party administrators deploying member navigation
- claims analytics and fraud detection across their book
- PEO engagement — custom quote for professional employer organisations rolling the platform out across multiple client companies
- Module-based scope in every case — AI assistant
- plan comparison
- cost transparency
- navigation
- telehealth
- Medical ID
- pharmacy
- fraud detection
Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Healthee handles your data.
GDPR overview
There is no mention of the GDPR anywhere on this site. A search across every page collected, in both text and raw HTML, returns zero occurrences of GDPR, European Union or Europe. No Article 27 representative is designated, no lawful basis is discussed, and no European transfer mechanism is described. The regulatory framework Healthee does claim is entirely American: HIPAA, the CCPA, US state privacy laws and ISO 27018. The privacy policy grants rights of access, rectification, erasure and disclosure transparency, but only in some jurisdictions, and routes health data requests to the employer first because Healthee acts as a HIPAA Business Associate. Requests go to info@healthee.co, with identity verification and a possible fee for manifestly unfounded or excessive requests. Governing law is New York State. European buyers should treat GDPR compliance as unaddressed rather than assumed.
Who owns the data?
Healthee positions itself as a processor acting for the employer, and as a HIPAA Business Associate covered by a Business Associate Agreement. It states it never sends employee information back to the employer and never sells health data. The terms of use are considerably broader: by using the AI features you grant the company a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, sublicensable and transferable licence over both your inputs and the outputs, in order to provide and improve the platform. The AI models themselves, and all related intellectual property, remain the property of Healthee and its third-party providers. Health data questions must be raised with your employer first, not with Healthee.
Reuse rights
You may use Zoe's answers freely for your own benefits decisions, but the terms make you solely responsible for testing and vetting every output before acting on it, and they forbid using outputs to build competing models, scraping the platform, or passing them off as human-written. In the other direction, Healthee collects names, contact details, birth date, gender, plan and member IDs, searches, appointments, recorded support calls, device and IP data, sourced from you, from your employer, from insurers and from scheduling partners such as Doctegrity. Mixpanel handles product analytics. The FAQ states that protected health information and personally identifiable employee data are never used to train AI models; the terms nonetheless let you exclude your content from model generation and training by written notice, which the company will honour on a commercially reasonable efforts basis. That gap between the two documents is worth clarifying before signature. A contractual restriction also forbids typing personal identifiers into free-text fields where they are not explicitly requested.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Healthee states that it uses leading cloud storage providers in the United States, with servers in secure data centres meeting current security standards. No cloud vendor is named and no region is specified beyond the country. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard protocols, access is restricted on a need-to-know basis with role-based controls and multi-factor authentication internally, and the information security management programme is built on the ISO 27001 standard. Penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and documented incident response procedures are claimed. Healthee acts as a HIPAA Business Associate of the employer, says it returns no employee information to that employer, and states it does not sell or share health data with third parties for marketing. Jurisdiction is American throughout: HIPAA, the CCPA, US state privacy laws, ISO 27018 and New York governing law. Note that the site's own IP address resolves to a Cloudflare anycast node, which says nothing about where data actually lives.

Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Healthee.
- The AI clause grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, sublicensable and transferable licence over both your inputs and the model outputs, which is far broader than the processor-only position stated elsewhere on the site
- The training opt-out requires written notice and only commits the vendor to commercially reasonable efforts; it is not a setting an administrator can flip
- Trusting a benefits assistant too readily is a real hazard in healthcare: outputs are explicitly your responsibility to test and vet, and a wrong answer about coverage can translate into an unexpected bill
- Convenience can erode understanding: employees who always ask Zoe may never learn how their own plan works, leaving them helpless the day the tool is not there
- Contractual restrictions forbid typing personal identifiers into free-text fields, and the vendor disclaims liability if you do it anyway
- Transparency gaps compound: no published subprocessor list, AI model suppliers disclosed only on request, a Trust Center that renders nothing without JavaScript, and no named support address
- Mandatory JAMS arbitration in New York with a class action waiver applies unless you opt out by email within thirty days
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Nothing to install for employees: a mobile app, a browser, or the Workday embed. For the employer the effort is real but guided. Expect six to eight weeks from signature to launch, three deliverables to assemble, meaning plan documents, eligibility data and integration details, and connections to your HRIS, benefits administration platform and carrier feeds. Healthee handles technical configuration and data mapping through a dedicated implementation team, and the timeline stretches with the complexity of existing systems and the number of plan options. Moderate difficulty, concentrated in data gathering rather than engineering.

Should you pick Healthee?
Healthee is a mature, unusually complete answer to a narrow question: how American employees make sense of health benefits they already pay for. The combination of an assistant grounded in real plan data, a cost transparency layer, telehealth, and an analytics and anti-fraud engine aimed at the employer is coherent, and the compliance posture behind it, with SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and HIPAA, is what handling protected health information should look like.
The limits are just as clear. This is a United States product in every fibre, useless anywhere the American insurance model does not apply. It is sold exclusively through a sales conversation, with no published price, no free tier and a six-to-eight-week implementation, so evaluating it means committing time before seeing a number. The results Healthee advertises are impressive and entirely self-reported, with unnamed clients and no methodology, which makes independent comparison difficult.
Two things deserve a careful reading before signature. First, the AI clause in the terms of use grants a worldwide, perpetual, sublicensable licence over inputs and outputs, which does not sit comfortably next to the processor-only stance on the security page; the training opt-out exists but runs through written notice and commercially reasonable efforts, not a switch in the product. Second, transparency thins out at the edges: no subprocessor list is published, AI model suppliers are disclosed only on request, and the linked Trust Center returns nothing without JavaScript.
For a mid-size or enterprise US employer with a real benefits budget, particularly a self-insured one where claims analytics and fraud detection carry their own weight, Healthee is a serious candidate. For anyone else, it is simply out of scope.
