InterMap
InterMap is a Hungarian mobile mapping suite whose AI spots traffic signs, hydrants, drains and potholes in survey imagery and drops them onto a municipal GIS map, letting councils inventory up to 100 km of road a day.
What is InterMap?
InterMap is the mapping and GIS suite of InterMap Kft., a Budapest company that has been on the Hungarian market since 1999 and works on mobile mapping, 3D reconstruction and geographic information systems for local authorities. The offer is best understood as three parts that feed into one another. The first is GeoMeter, the survey hardware. Three components clamp together in a few minutes: a rugged head carrying high-resolution cameras and an INS module accurate to the centimetre, a Blackbox computer powerful enough to process the images in real time, and a Controller running InterMap's own software for steering the survey and watching the imagery come in. The head mounts on the roof rack of an ordinary car, which is what allows the company's headline claim: over 100 kilometres of public road recorded in a day, with traffic running normally and no road closures. The second is the artificial intelligence, sold as the ForteMapAI module. It frames objects in the survey photographs by type, then inserts each one on the map as a point of interest carrying its true geographic position. Traffic signs, fire hydrants, drains and potholes are the examples the company gives. A review step lets an operator confirm or correct what was inserted, and a learning-data generation function lets the customer feed corrected examples back so the model can be taught further. The third is ForteMap itself, the GIS where the results live. It integrates cadastral base maps, regulation plans, orthophotos and utility drawings; manages point, line and polygon objects; holds an address and topographic-number register; prints to scale; builds thematic maps; and applies permissions per user group. Point clouds can be measured, cross-sectioned and turned into elevation models, and surveys can be walked virtually along the recorded trail. Around these sit a drone survey service and a white-labelled Smart City citizen app. Deployments include a dozen Hungarian towns, the M3 and M6 motorways, and surveys as far afield as Istanbul and Tashkent.

InterMap Kft. is established in Budapest, so its activity falls within the territorial scope of the GDPR. Beyond that, the site makes no GDPR statement of any kind: there is no privacy policy, no terms and conditions, no legal notice and no cookie policy anywhere on it, and no data protection officer is named. A Cookie information banner appears on every page but links to no document, while Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are loaded all the same.
