What is InteScene?
InteScene is a web-based production management platform for film and television that carries a project from development through to wrap. Its founding argument is blunt: most production tools are generic project-management software with a film skin bolted on, whereas InteScene was built by filmmakers for the way a shoot actually runs.
The architecture follows from that. A prop, an actor or a location exists as a single record in one shared production database, and that record feeds the breakdown, the schedule, the budget, the call sheets and the reports. Change the script and the change propagates; nothing is re-keyed. The home page organises the work into four phases — Development, Pre-production, Production and Wrap — across 21 connected modules, among them the Script Editor, A/V Script, Index Cards, Script Analyser, Storyboard, Casting Director, Locations, Schedule, Budget, Reports and Call Sheets, Document Manager, Equipment, Logistics, Continuity Tracker, Crew Check-In and Catering.
Four families of AI sit on top: automated breakdown, deep script analysis, storyboard generation and scheduling help. The stated doctrine is AI that assists your vision, not one that generates it: every AI tool can be switched off, the product works identically without them, and nothing is applied automatically. AI actions draw on a monthly credit allowance, from 25 on the free plan to 1,000 on Studio.
A dedicated route serves commercials and music videos: two-column A/V scripts with per-line timecode, 60, 30 and 6-second cutdowns each with their own history, animatics with voice and music tracks, read-only client approval rounds and auto-assembled PPM books. A separate Cast & Crew Portal hands availability, documents, check-in and the day's call sheet to people who never occupy a collaborator seat.
The product comes from Daniel Shepherd, a filmmaker who built the system for his own indie productions, and frames its mission as the real democratisation of filmmaking through access to professional tools. It is young: version 1.1.0 shipped on 6 September 2026 and early access ended on 8 July 2026. Four browser tools — a shooting schedule generator, a day out of days generator, a budget builder and a call sheet generator — are free and need no account at all.

The lowest paid entry point is £10 per month (GBP), the Indie plan on annual billing, invoiced at £120 per year; the same plan costs £12 per month on monthly billing. Production and Studio follow at £20 and £25 per month on monthly billing, or £17 and £21 per month billed annually. Annual commitment is advertised as saving up to 17 per cent. A 14-day free trial is available on every paid plan without a card, and prices may also be displayed in USD, EUR, CAD and AUD, although the grid itself is denominated in GBP. Subscriptions renew automatically each cycle until cancelled, access is retained until the end of the current period, and fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

GDPR overview
InteScene's privacy policy, last updated 2 August 2026, commits to handling data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 rather than the EU regulation — a real distinction for users in the Union. Lawful bases are named: contract performance, legal obligations, legitimate interests, and consent where required. Cookieless analytics and campaign labels rest on legitimate interests, expressly reasoned because nothing is stored on the device and no one is identified; cookies, retained click identifiers, PostHog analytics and any reporting to Google or Reddit rest on consent. Rights offered are access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, restriction and withdrawal of consent, exercisable at any time via the footer's Manage cookies link or the app's Notifications tab. Who owns the data?
InteScene's terms of service, last updated on 13 June 2026, state that you retain full ownership of the scripts, schedules and other materials you create or upload, defined as "Your Content". You grant InteScene only a limited licence to host, process and display that content, and solely in order to provide the service, including running the AI features you request. You remain responsible for holding the rights to whatever you upload. On termination, content may be exported as described in the documentation. The privacy policy adds that personal data is never sold, and the FAQ states that production data is never shared with third parties.
Reuse rights
Under the privacy policy of 2 August 2026, InteScene collects account data (name, email, password), production data (scripts, schedules, budgets, call sheets), billing data (plan, country; card details are handled by the payment provider and no full card number is stored), usage data (logs, device, browser, analytics) and, where relevant, a Google or Reddit advertising click identifier together with campaign labels. That data is used to run the account and deliver the features of the plan, process payments and subscriptions, provide the AI features such as breakdowns and storyboards, send product updates, security notices and support replies, and maintain security, reliability and performance. Sharing is limited to trusted service providers under contract — hosting, payment processing, analytics — and to cases required by law; nothing is sold. Site analytics use Vercel Web Analytics, aggregated, with no cookie or persistent identifier and the query string stripped before sending. The Google tag loads with every measurement permission disabled, and before any choice is made only a cookieless signal (IP, browser, page) is sent. PostHog product analytics stays off until it is accepted, and session recording likewise, with typed input masked before a recording leaves the browser. The free browser tools are excluded from analytics altogether, so no name, phone number, address or location entered into them is reported. Advertising personalisation is disabled whatever the choice. Because you keep ownership of Your Content, you may reuse, export and exploit it without asking permission.

Hosting summary
InteScene does not disclose where production data is hosted, nor which provider hosts it. The privacy policy of 2 August 2026 locates one thing only: its PostHog project is hosted in the European Union — and PostHog covers product analytics, not the scripts, schedules and budgets themselves, so no conclusion about the location of production data can be drawn from it. What the policy does state is that data is protected with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, with access controls limiting who can view it, and that transfers outside the UK and the EEA rely on appropriate safeguards, with standard contractual clauses named explicitly. Sharing is limited to trusted service providers under contract — hosting, payment processing, analytics — none of which are named. One off-site element, flagged as such: the domain's A record resolves to 64.29.17.1, geolocated in the United States on AS16509 (Amazon.com Inc.) and reported as anycast; that describes delivery of the marketing site, not necessarily the hosting of application data. The publisher is a UK entity and the terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
