Moises
Moises is an AI creative suite for musicians that separates any song into vocal and instrument stems, detects chords, key and tempo, transcribes lyrics, masters tracks and generates new parts across web, mobile, desktop and DAW.
What is Moises?
Moises is the consumer product of Music AI, a company founded in 2019 with teams in the United States, Brazil and Europe, and it presents itself as the creative suite for musicians. Its core is AI stem separation: upload an audio or video file and the service splits it into vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other instruments, so you can solo a part, mute it, or turn a record into a backing track. Around that core sits a practice toolkit — key and chord detection, a smart metronome locked to the song, a speed changer with automatic BPM detection, pitch and transpose controls, capo mode, automatic detection of verses, choruses and bridges for looping, and lyric transcription shown alongside the chords in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.
The suite also reaches into creation and production. AI Studio generates instrumental stems that match an existing idea, Voice Studio adds vocal parts modelled on real singers, a mastering module prepares a track for release, a lyric writer suggests phrasing and rhymes, and video recording captures a performance with synced audio. Multimedia Tracks separates dialogue, music and effects for video and mixed-media work, while collaborative setlists organise material for rehearsals, lessons and gigs.
Moises runs in the browser, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision and Apple TV, on Android, as a desktop application, and as a Stems VST plugin that works inside Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reaper, Studio One and FL Studio for Pro subscribers. The publisher, Moises Systems, Inc., claims more than 75 million artists. The app was named Apple's iPad App of the Year in 2024, was an Apple Design Awards finalist in 2025, won Google Play's Best App for Personal Growth and a Microsoft Store Award in 2025, and holds a 4.7 rating across 27,000 App Store reviews. Charlie Puth serves as Artist and Chief Music Officer, and the Berklee College of Music is cited among institutional users. The company states that its models are trained only on licensed material.

When to use Moises / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Moises is the right fit.
When to use Moises
- Musicians rehearsing along to existing songs who need to mute, slow down or transpose a part
- Music teachers and music schools building personalised practice material for their students
- Producers and beatmakers who want Hi-Fi stem separation inside Pro Tools, Ableton Live or Logic Pro
- Singers and vocal coaches who need instrumental backing tracks in any key
- Content creators filming performances who need clean audio and video captured in sync
When not to use Moises
- Developers looking for an audio separation API, which belongs to the sibling Music AI platform rather than to Moises
- Engineers who need real-time stem splitting on stage: the DAW plugin processes with a delay and requires an internet connection
- Sample library builders, since packaging outputs as samples, loops or sound-effect collections is forbidden by the terms
- Buyers who must compare prices before signing up, as the pricing table only opens once you are logged in
- Anyone under 13, who is not allowed to use the service at all
How to use Moises
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create an account on the web app, or with a Facebook, Google, Apple or Twitter login
- Upload an audio or video file, or import one from Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud or a public URL
- Let the AI split the file into stems and detect its beat, key and chords
- Solo, mute or rebalance each stem to build the backing track you need
- Slow the song down, change the key or add a metronome click to work on a difficult passage
- Loop a detected verse, chorus or bridge to drill the part that matters
- Open the lyrics and chords view, or run mastering, stem generation or a vocal part when the track is ready
- Export a custom mix or the separated stems in MP3, M4A, or WAV from the desktop app
- Group your work into setlists and share them with the people you play with
- With a Pro plan, install the Stems plugin from the desktop app, authenticate it with the validation code and load it on a track inside your DAW

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Moises handles your data.
GDPR overview
The privacy policy, last updated on 8 June 2026, carries a dedicated European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland section. Moises Systems, Inc. is named as data controller, legal bases are cross-referenced to the purposes section, and international transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent approved mechanisms. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent are all listed, with dedicated request forms for EU and UK residents and a reminder that a complaint may be lodged with a local supervisory authority. An Article 27 representative is designated in Ireland and a separate representative in the United Kingdom. Privacy requests go to privacy@moises.ai. The site never claims compliance in so many words: the assessment rests on the mechanisms actually documented.
Who owns the data?
Under the Terms & Conditions you keep ownership of everything you upload and, as far as the law allows, of the outputs you generate; Moises acquires no rights beyond the limited ones it needs to operate the service. Section 11.4, headed NO TRAINING, states that user content and outputs are never used to train or fine-tune AI models unless you expressly authorise it in writing or through an electronic opt-in. Ownership comes with limits: outputs may not be redistributed as samples, loops or sound-effect libraries, used in a way that competes with the service, or fed into other AI models. Where an upload contains personal data covered by the GDPR, you act as controller and Moises processes it on your behalf, with subprocessors.
Reuse rights
Yes, within stated limits and without asking for permission. Separated stems, custom mixes and generated parts can be exported and used in your own musical work, since you retain the rights to your content and to your outputs. Three uses are excluded by the terms: packaging outputs as samples, loops, sound effects or a sample library, even modified; using them in a way that competes with or displaces the service; and using them to train or fine-tune AI models. The curated Moises Collection recordings are licensed more narrowly and may only be used inside the platform. In every case you remain responsible for holding the rights to the files you upload.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
The site names no hosting country and no hosting region. The library is described only as stored securely in the cloud, and the privacy policy states that personal data is shared globally with group companies and may be processed by third parties located outside the user's own country, so it may be subject to different privacy laws. For data collected in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, transfers are said to be covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved by the competent authorities, together with contractual, technical and organisational measures. The security section mentions pseudonymisation, encryption, access controls and retention policies. The terms add that the service is operated from the publisher's offices in Utah and are governed by Utah law. No subprocessor list is published and no data processing agreement is offered, so the exact hosting jurisdiction cannot be established from the site.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Moises.
- Subscriptions renew automatically: cancellation must be received at least 24 hours before the renewal date or the next period is charged
- Monthly credits expire at the end of each billing period, with no roll-over, refund or compensation
- Downgrading locks paid features and some uploaded content at the end of the current period, and an invalid payment method at renewal can lead to account deletion
- Voice models imitate real singers: using them without the voice owner's permission, or to impersonate or mislead, is both forbidden and legally risky
- You remain responsible for holding the rights to every file you upload, including commercial recordings
- Leaning on automatic chord, key and tempo detection can quietly erode the ear training musicians build by transcribing songs themselves
- Disputes are settled by private arbitration under Utah law unless you opt out in writing within 30 days of accepting the terms
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Very low for everyday use. The web app needs no installation: create an account, or sign in with Facebook, Google, Apple or Twitter, then upload a file and the separation starts. The mobile and desktop applications are simple downloads, with iOS 17 or macOS 14 on Apple Silicon as minimum requirements. Only the Stems plugin asks for a little setup: an active Pro plan, a download from the desktop app, a validation code and a scan of the plugin folder in your DAW. No development skills and no API keys are involved at any point.

Should you pick Moises?
Moises has the profile of a mature product rather than a demo: the domain has been live since November 2019, the app has collected platform awards every year since 2021, and it holds a 4.7 rating across 27,000 App Store reviews. Its strength is coverage — one subscription replaces a stem splitter, a slow-downer, a chord finder, a metronome, a transposer, a lyric transcriber and a mastering tool, on nearly every device a musician owns, including inside a DAW. Two things set it apart from the many vocal removers around it. The first is the company behind it: Music AI sells the same separation technology to businesses, which is where the quality comes from. The second is its stance on data — the terms state plainly that user content and outputs are never used for training without an explicit opt-in, that models are trained only on licensed material, and that users keep the rights to what they upload and generate. The reservations are practical rather than technical. Prices appear nowhere on the website: the pricing table only opens once you have an account, and the figures quoted here come from the publisher's App Store listing. Monthly credits vanish at the end of each billing period, cancellations must be sent at least 24 hours before renewal, and the DAW plugin needs a Pro plan plus a connection and does not run in real time. Nothing is said about where data is hosted, no subprocessor list is published and no data processing agreement is offered — acceptable for a consumer app, thin for a school or a studio with compliance duties. For practising, arranging and producing music, Moises is an easy recommendation; anyone who needs contractual guarantees or an API will find the answer elsewhere in the same company's catalogue.
