Numeric
Numeric is an AI close automation platform for accounting teams. It sits on top of NetSuite, QuickBooks or Xero to orchestrate the month-end checklist, reconcile accounts, match bank transactions and draft flux explanations automatically.
What is Numeric?
Numeric is an accounting close automation platform published by Velocity Labs Inc., a Delaware company run from San Francisco with offices in New York and London. It was founded by Parker Gilbert, previously VP of Finance at Hearth, with Anthony Alvernaz and Andrew Bihl, and it presents itself as the AI-native platform for record-to-report.
The product comes in three lines. Close Management turns the month-end into a structured checklist with preparers, reviewers, review notes and a holiday calendar, paired with account reconciliation driven by materiality thresholds, attached work papers and alerts when an account stops reconciling. Cash Management, launched in November 2025, automates bank reconciliation: an AI rules engine matches more than 90% of transactions, covers intercompany movements and recurring bank fees, then drafts and batch-posts journal entries for whatever is left, with over 12,000 banks connectable. The Analytics Suite covers flux analysis grouped by revenue accounts, OpEx, department, location or entity, flexible reporting, and transaction monitors that flag errors, missing accruals and out-of-balance accounts.
The AI layer, Numeric Intelligence, is deliberately positioned against black-box automation. Its flux agent pivots account by account along ERP dimensions, references entity-level explanations and pulls in payroll or revenue detail from outside the ledger. An analyst mode answers questions across every transaction line, a technical assistant handles accounting questions and drafts policy memos under guidelines set by Big 4 accountants, and a close post-mortem surfaces chronically late tasks and workload imbalance. External sources such as Snowflake, Databricks and NetSuite SavedSearch can enrich explanations, and an MCP connector plugs the workspace into an AI model, pre-computing data before the model sees it and syncing task updates back in real time.
Numeric sits on top of an existing ERP rather than replacing it, NetSuite at the top tier, QuickBooks and Xero at the middle one. Customers named on the site include Brex, Plaid, Wealthfront, Betterment, Stash and Riskified, with figures such as Brex closing in four days instead of six. The company raised a 51 million dollar Series B led by IVP in November 2025.
What it does
- Orchestrate the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close as a checklist with preparers and reviewers
- Reconcile accounts automatically against materiality thresholds, with supporting work papers attached
- Match over 90% of bank transactions and post the resulting journal entries into NetSuite
- Draft flux and variance explanations with an AI agent that pivots along ERP dimensions

- Detect anomalies, missing accruals and out-of-balance accounts in general ledger data in real time
- Drive the close from an AI workspace through the MCP connector
When to use Numeric / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if Numeric is the right fit.
When to use Numeric
- Controllers and accounting managers running a monthly close on NetSuite who want the checklist, the reconciliations and the sign-offs in one place
- Financial reporting teams at scale-ups and newly listed companies preparing audit-ready close documentation
- Treasury and cash teams drowning in bank reconciliations spread across many accounts
- General ledger and staff accountants who still write flux and variance explanations by hand in spreadsheets
- Audit and advisory professionals who need traceable work papers, materiality thresholds and a documented close trail
When not to use Numeric
- Freelancers, sole traders and micro-businesses with no formal close process and no ERP behind them
- Buyers who want to sign up online and test the product themselves: every plan goes through a sales conversation
- Teams that need a mobile app, a browser extension or a documented public API
- Organisations that require European data residency, a signed DPA or a published security certification before onboarding
- Non-English-speaking teams, since the interface and the whole site are English-only with no list of supported languages
How to use Numeric
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Request a demo through the website form: there is no self-serve sign-up on any plan
- Walk through your current month-end process with the Numeric team and pick the tier matching your ERP
- Connect your data sources, with live ERP and file storage integration from the Growth tier, plus document and CSV uploads
- Connect your bank accounts for cash matching and real-time cash visibility, available at the Enterprise tier
- Build the close checklist: monthly, quarterly and year-end tasks, preparers and reviewers, task categories and holiday calendar
- Set materiality thresholds on each reconciliation and attach the supporting work papers
- Let the AI match transactions with generated rules and draft the first pass of the flux explanations
- Review the anomalies raised by the transaction monitors before you close the books
- Build your reports, let the commentary run automatically and collaborate on management reporting
- Optionally plug the MCP connector into your AI workspace and set up SAML single sign-on with Okta, Duo or OneLogin
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Broad functional coverage in a single platform: close, reconciliation, cash, flux, reporting and monitoring
- Customer results are named, attributed and quantified rather than anonymous, from Brex closing in four days instead of six to DailyPay having 80% of flux first drafts written by AI
- Serious references in fintech and among listed companies, including Brex, Plaid, Wealthfront, Betterment and Riskified
- An entry price is actually published, which is uncommon in this B2B segment
- Onboarding is run by a team that includes CPAs, with a named customer success manager and one-to-one training
- Genuine NetSuite depth: dimensions, SavedSearch, batch posting and real-time transaction-level sync
- Native MCP connector, which opens the platform to AI workspaces and agents
Cons
- Two of the three tiers are quote-only, so the real cost of a deployment cannot be worked out from the site
- No free plan and no advertised free trial: the terms allow trials only at Numeric's sole discretion
- No security, trust or compliance page anywhere and no certification displayed, on a product that ingests corporate financial data
- No published data processing agreement, no subprocessor list, no Article 27 representative and no mention of the GDPR at all
- The privacy policy covers the website only, so how accounting data is handled inside the platform is governed by the contract alone
- The contract is unfavourable on paper: platform supplied as is, liability capped at twelve months of fees, and no data return clause at the end
- No mobile app, no documented public API and an English-only interface
Pricing & Plans
There is no free plan and no advertised free trial. The lowest published price point is the Essentials tier, from USD 30 per user per month; the Growth and Enterprise tiers are quote-only. All three are reached through a contact form rather than online checkout. Payment is due in US dollars, subscriptions renew automatically unless notice is given thirty days before the renewal date, and fees are stated to be non-refundable.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how Numeric handles your data.
GDPR overview
The site never uses the words GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation, so Numeric makes no compliance claim of its own. What the privacy policy of 23 September 2025 contains is nevertheless GDPR-shaped: a 'Legal Bases for Processing European Information' section listing consent, contractual necessity, legal obligation and legitimate interests; a 'Your European Privacy Rights' section covering access, rectification, restriction, objection, erasure, portability, complaint to a supervisory authority and free withdrawal of consent; and transfers from the EEA and the UK to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK Government. No Article 27 representative and no data protection officer are named, no data processing agreement is published and no subprocessor list exists. Note also that the policy governs the website, not the accounting platform itself.
Who owns the data?
Under the Licensee Terms and Conditions the customer keeps ownership of its own data: clause 7.5 states that Licensee Data belongs to the Licensee and is treated as the Licensee's confidential information, and clause 2.6 extends this to AI outputs, which are also deemed Licensee Data. Velocity Labs Inc. keeps ownership of the platform itself, its code, structure and algorithms. Two carve-outs matter. Numeric may collect and analyse aggregated, anonymised usage data during and after the contract, and any feedback a customer sends is licensed to Numeric perpetually, irrevocably and free of charge. For the website, Numeric declares itself the data controller.
Reuse rights
Because the customer owns both its data and the AI outputs generated from it, no permission from Numeric is needed to reuse them: reports, flux commentary, reconciliations and journal entries produced in the platform can be used freely for the customer's own accounting, reporting and audit purposes, and the terms place no restriction on that downstream reuse. The restrictions run the other way, against the platform: clause 2.3 forbids resale, service-bureau use, reverse engineering and building a competing product from it. One caveat sits in clause 2.6, where Numeric warns that AI outputs may be similar or identical to outputs supplied to other customers and gives no warranty that they are free of third-party content or of infringement. Clause 8.3 says nothing about returning or exporting data once the agreement ends.
Data retention & training
Hosting summary
Numeric publishes very little about hosting, and what it does publish concerns the website rather than the accounting platform. The privacy policy states that the site is hosted in the United States and intended for visitors located in the United States. Personal information transferred from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom therefore leaves those regions for the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK Government, and may be moved on to other countries for storage and processing. No hosting provider, data centre, cloud region or data residency option is named, and no European hosting alternative is offered. The infrastructure observable from outside, a Cloudflare address serving a site built on Webflow, describes the marketing site and not the platform holding general ledger data. In practice, a buyer subject to European data protection rules will have to obtain the platform's hosting arrangements directly from the vendor, because the site does not answer the question.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting Numeric.
- AI outputs feed financial statements, yet the terms state they are not tested, verified or guaranteed accurate: the duty to review them stays with the accountant, and habit erodes that reflex quickly
- Automating flux explanations can hollow out the very skill it replaces, since a junior accountant who never writes a variance explanation by hand may lose the ability to notice when the draft is wrong
- No security page, no certification and no DPA on a platform that ingests an entire general ledger: the due diligence a buyer would normally do on paper has to be conducted in a sales conversation instead
- The privacy policy covers the marketing website only, and nothing public describes how accounting data is stored or protected inside the platform
- Nothing published states whether customer data may be used to train models, and silence is not a commitment
- No retention period is given in figures, and the policy reserves the right to keep data for backups, archiving, analytics and other legitimate reasons even after a deletion request
- Contract friction to plan for: automatic renewal on thirty days' notice, price revision on thirty days' notice, liability capped at twelve months of fees and no clause returning your data at the end
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Low technical difficulty, but a real accounting prerequisite. Numeric is a web application with nothing to install, and onboarding is run by a team that includes CPAs, backed by a named customer success manager, one-to-one training, a help centre and process templates. Bank connection is advertised as immediate across more than 12,000 banks. What the project really requires is an ERP already in place with the right access rights, and someone who knows the chart of accounts well enough to set materiality thresholds, groupings and report structures. SAML single sign-on at the Enterprise tier needs IT involvement.

Should you pick Numeric?
Numeric is a narrow tool that goes deep. It does one thing, the record-to-report cycle of a corporate accounting team, and the evidence that it does it well is unusually concrete: around twenty customers named with their job titles, quantified results attributed to individuals rather than to anonymous averages, case studies with Brex, GOAT and Riskified, and a 51 million dollar Series B led by IVP announced on the company's own blog. Pricing transparency is partial but better than the segment average, with one public figure at USD 30 per user per month and the two upper tiers on request.
The blind spot is striking for a product that handles corporate financial data. There is no security page, no trust centre, no certification on display, no data processing agreement and no subprocessor list, and the acronym GDPR appears nowhere on the site. The same silence covers model training: nothing in the terms or the privacy policy says whether customer accounting data may be used to train AI models, on a platform sold as AI-native. The contract is conventional but not generous, with the platform supplied as is, liability capped at twelve months of fees and no clause providing for the return or export of data when the agreement ends.
Anyone evaluating Numeric should therefore treat the product demonstration and the legal due diligence as two separate exercises. Ask for the security documentation, a DPA, the hosting arrangements of the platform rather than the website, and a written position on model training; none of those can be answered from the public site. If the answers come back satisfactorily, the functional case is strong for a team closing on NetSuite. Without an accounting team and an ERP underneath, the tool simply has no object.
