OptiZone is a Swiss sports tech platform, spun out of EPFL, that pairs IMU sensors with a mobile app and a web dashboard so professional clubs and academies can assess performance, estimate injury risk and protect player availability.
What is OptiZone?
OptiZone is a sports technology platform published by OptiZone SA, a Swiss company registered on 20 November 2025 and based at the EPFL Innovation Park, Building C, in Lausanne. It presents itself as Swiss sports tech and an EPFL spin-off, and its stated purpose is to make laboratory-grade biomechanics usable at the side of the pitch.
What is sold is a chain rather than a piece of software: professional IMU sensors, straps and a tablet on the field, a mobile app for capture, and a web dashboard for interpretation. Work follows four steps, measure, connect, understand and act, matched by four modules.
AssessME covers field assessment: jumps, changes of direction and sprints, with force and movement analysed together to surface ACL strain, hamstring strain, knee valgus and knee moments. AlignME merges outside sources, GPS, VALD, isokinetic testing, strength, mobility and match data, and looks for gaps between the load a player carries and the capacity that player has. AskME is a conversational AI agent over those data: questions are typed in French, English or Spanish and answers come back as charts, rankings, scatter plots or load calendars. AlertME turns the result into a prioritised watchlist, PRIORITY or WATCH, with the causes behind each flag and a checklist of actions, weighted by the rules the staff defines. Five roles are addressed explicitly: sporting management, head coach, physical preparation, physiotherapy and medicine.
The evidence should be read as what it is, the publisher's own claims. The site states 94% accuracy against laboratory measurement, a three-minute field protocol, deployment in one day and more than 1,850 professional athletes tested. It describes validation in a FIFA Medical Center of Excellence and a three-year longitudinal study on a cohort of over 1,550 professional players, in which 78% of non-contact ACL ruptures were predicted, 28 out of 35. The model's top-ranked variables are given as previous injury and its severity, quadriceps-to-hamstring ratio asymmetry, dynamic knee valgus on landing and Reactive Strength Index asymmetry. A 2024-2025 case-control study across four teams and five high-risk players is also cited. None of these figures is tied to a named publication, a DOI or a link.

No free plan and no free trial is announced, and neither is explicitly ruled out. Access is commercial only: the single route in is a demo request, after which terms are agreed case by case, which places the tool in a contact-sales model. One monetary figure does appear on the site, CHF 1 million secured through innovation awards and programmes, but that is company funding rather than a product price and must not be read as a rate. GDPR overview
The site makes no reference to the GDPR. A search of the whole archived corpus returned zero occurrences of GDPR, RGPD, DSGVO, privacy policy or personal data. No EU representative under Article 27 is named, no data protection officer is identified, and the only published address is the generic info@optizone.ch. There is accordingly no claim of compliance and no denial of one: the subject is simply absent. Context matters. OptiZone SA is Swiss and Switzerland sits outside the EU, so the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection applies domestically while the GDPR would apply extraterritorially to any European club served. The clinical partners displayed (CHUV, HUG) and the European club setting both imply health data. A prospective buyer should expect to obtain the entire data protection framework contractually, because none of it is published.
Who owns the data?
No contractual document published by OptiZone addresses ownership of the data. At the date of review the site carries no terms of service, no privacy policy, no legal notice and no data processing agreement: 110 candidate legal paths were probed across the site's five language directories and every one returned 404 against a discriminating control. Who owns the biomechanical and health data captured on players, and what the publisher may do with it or share with whom, is therefore defined nowhere in public. The only related sentence sits under the demo form, "We use this information only to prepare your OptiZone discussion", and it covers the contact details typed into that form, not athlete data.
Reuse rights
Nothing on the site sets out what either party may do with the data. With no terms of service and no privacy policy published, there is no licence, no stated reuse permission and no restriction that a customer could rely on; any right to export, reuse or share the data would have to be negotiated in the contract that follows a demo. The product itself handles jumps, changes of direction, sprints, force and movement measurements, GPS, isokinetic testing, VALD data, mobility, match data, calendar, playing position and injury history. Separately, the demo form collects full name, work email, organisation, role and main need, and posts them to a Google Apps Script endpoint. Hosting summary
OptiZone publishes no data hosting information. No country, region, cloud provider or data centre is named anywhere on the site, and there is neither a privacy policy nor a security page where such a statement would normally sit; a search of the archived corpus for hosting terms returned nothing at all. One fact was measured, and it concerns only the marketing website rather than the platform that would hold player data: optizone.ch resolves to 20.199.136.27, an address operated by Microsoft in Zurich, Switzerland, with no anycast indicator. The domain registrar is Hostpoint AG, based in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. Both point to Swiss infrastructure for the public site. That must not be read as a statement about the product. Nothing establishes where assessments, player profiles, health data or the AI layer are processed or stored, nor under which jurisdiction, nor whether any transfer takes place. A club subject to the GDPR, or to Swiss health data rules, should obtain the hosting location, the sub-processor list and the transfer mechanism in writing before the first capture.
