PixAI
PixAI is an anime-focused AI image generator where a text prompt becomes art in seconds. Browse over a million community models and LoRAs, train your own, animate results, and work from web, mobile or API.
What is PixAI?
PixAI is an AI image generation platform built specifically for anime and manga art, published by Mewtant Inc. from Redwood City, California. Its home page bills it as The World's #1 AI Anime Generator and invites visitors to create with more than a million community models and LoRAs, starting for free; the meta description raises the figure to 1.5 million. The promise is deliberately low-friction: daily free credits, no skill needed, free sign-up with no credit card required.
Behind the prompt box, the catalogue works on two levels. PixAI's own models come first: Tsubaki.2 as the flagship, Tsubaki on the DiT.1 family, Haruka v2 in XL and DiT.2 LoRA form, and Hoshino in XL, with Tsubaki.3 announced in early access. Then comes the Model Market, where community LoRAs are sorted by trend, likes, usage and novelty. SD 1.5, SDXL and DiT are all supported as base families. Training your own LoRA is part of the product rather than an add-on: upload images, choose a base model, define trigger words, and the resulting character, style or pose LoRA is usable in generation straight away.
The platform reaches beyond stills. An image-to-video and text-to-video suite produces clips of up to 10 seconds, with a Professional mode on the Plus and Premium tiers. Editing runs through Flow Edit, PixAI Reference Pro, ControlNet, inpainting, upscaling and img2img. PixAI Studio adds a node canvas to storyboard, generate and edit film, short drama, commercial and anime-game work in a single visual workflow, then publish it to a public showcase. A Mio.2 agent and themed generators complete the set.
Community is a real part of the product: a public gallery, tags by work and franchise, rankings, contests and creator subscriptions. Official iOS and Android apps share credits and history with the web account and push a notification when a generation finishes, while a public REST API handles task creation, status polling, media retrieval, webhooks and API-key authentication. Everything runs on credits: free daily ones, a monthly allowance by plan, and packs you can buy on top.
The stated limits are real. An account is mandatory to generate, users must be 18 or older, and moderation combines an AI moderator with human reviewers, Sensitive flagging, a seven-working-day appeal window and strict prohibitions around minors, alongside Confirm Over 18 and Safe Search settings. The interface is available in 16 languages.

When to use PixAI / When not to
A quick filter to help you decide if PixAI is the right fit.
When to use PixAI
- Anime and manga artists, hobbyists and professionals alike, who want a generator tuned to Japanese illustration rather than a generalist model.
- Creators of original characters who need the same character to stay consistent from one image to the next, using character LoRAs.
- Illustrators who want to train a LoRA on their own drawings, whether for a style, a character or a pose, without any local tooling.
- Short-form content makers storyboarding film, short drama, commercial or anime-and-game work on the PixAI Studio node canvas.
- Game developers producing sprite sheets and game art, and developers wiring generation into their own products through the REST API at platform.pixai.art.
When not to use PixAI
- Anyone under 18: the terms require you to be 18 years or older and capable of entering into a legal contract.
- Organisations that need a signed data processing agreement, an EU Article 27 representative or a written GDPR commitment, since none of these is published.
- Teams whose policy requires knowing where data is hosted and how long it is kept, as neither a hosting country nor a retention period is declared.
- Buyers who expect a refund or a cooling-off period: all purchases are final and non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise.
- Creators chasing explicit photorealism or mainly non-anime styles: explicit realistic images are removed under the content rules, and the whole catalogue leans toward anime and Japanese illustration.
How to use PixAI
A typical end-to-end flow, from setup to results.
- Create a free account on pixai.art with an email address or Google sign-in; no credit card is requested.
- Pick a model: a PixAI in-house model such as Tsubaki.2 or Haruka v2, or any community model or LoRA from the Model Market.
- Write your prompt, using tags or natural language with autocompletion, then set the generation parameters.
- Launch the generation and spend credits; paying members switch to Turbo Mode, an unlimited priority queue.
- Refine the result with Flow Edit, inpainting, upscaling or image extension.
- Animate it if needed: image-to-video or text-to-video, for clips of up to 10 seconds.
- Train a LoRA: upload your images, choose the base model, define the trigger words (at least 30 characters for a Tsubaki.2-based LoRA) and start training; the LoRA is usable immediately.
- For a full pipeline, open PixAI Studio and chain the steps on the node canvas.
- Publish to the community gallery, or keep your models private in the 15 to 35 private slots your plan allows.
- Go mobile or headless: install the iOS or Android app, which shares account, credits and history, or enrol at platform.pixai.art, generate an API key, call createImage and follow the status or wait for a webhook.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- A permanent free plan that is genuinely usable: 10,000 daily credits with no subscription, and unused credits carry over to the next cycle.
- One of the deepest anime catalogues on the market, with more than a million community models and LoRAs claimed.
- LoRA training built into the product, with no local tooling and no manual configuration to handle yourself.
- A complete chain in a single place: image, editing, video and node-based pipeline, from an entry price of 7.99 USD per month.
- You keep what you generate: PixAI makes no ownership or copyright claim over AI-generated images.
- An explicit commitment not to train its foundational models on user-uploaded images without explicit consent.
- Official iOS and Android apps synced with the web account, a public REST API with webhooks, and an interface in 16 languages.
Cons
- No GDPR information at all: no compliance claim, no data protection officer, no Article 27 representative and no data processing agreement.
- Neither the hosting country and region nor any data retention period is published.
- Purchases are final and non-refundable, and terminating an account guarantees neither data recovery nor a refund.
- Governing law is Hong Kong, which makes recourse awkward for a European user.
- Uploaded model files are covered by a perpetual and irrevocable licence granted to PixAI.
- Prices are absent from the pricing page itself, which renders in JavaScript; they only appear on the official blog, and the legal pages are equally unreadable without JavaScript.
- An 18+ requirement with no age verification described, no auto-renewal through PayPay and GMO, and a catalogue so anime-centric that other styles are much less well served.
Pricing & Plans
PixAI operates on a freemium model. A permanent free plan is available at no cost and grants 10,000 daily credits; there is no time-limited free trial, as the free plan fills that role. Paid membership starts at 7.99 USD per month for the Starter plan, billed annually, then 22.99 USD per month for Plus and 35.99 USD per month for Premium, both also billed annually; no month-to-month rate is published. Credit packs can be purchased separately, with a bonus reserved for members of +50% on Starter, +100% on Plus and +150% on Premium. All purchases are final and non-refundable unless otherwise required by law. One caveat on sourcing: these amounts do not appear on the /membership/plans page itself, which renders through JavaScript; they come from the official blog.pixai.art article dated 1 May 2026 and should be confirmed before any purchase.

Data, GDPR & hosting
A consolidated view of how PixAI handles your data.
GDPR overview
There is no mention of the GDPR anywhere on the site. A search across the privacy policy, the terms and the legal notice returned nothing: no compliance claim, no data protection officer, no Article 27 EU representative, no data processing agreement, no legal bases and no statement of GDPR rights such as access or erasure. The terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. What exists is practical, not regulatory: you can delete your account from Settings > Account or by writing to inquiries@pixai.art; cookie choices are handed back to the browser; advertising can be limited through Google Ads Settings and device controls (Limit Ad Tracking on iOS, Opt Out of Ads Personalization on Android); security is described as technical, administrative and physical safeguards with regular vulnerability monitoring. The publisher is US-based, with a Hong Kong entity shown to Hong Kong visitors.
Who owns the data?
The terms are unusually clear. PixAI makes no ownership or copyright claim over AI-generated images, and clause 5.8 asserts no ownership over content you upload or publish: you keep full intellectual property. In return, clause 5.4a grants PixAI a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display and publish that content in order to provide the service. Uploaded AI model files go further: clause 5.6 grants a royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to host, use, reformat, store and display them, extended to distribution and download if the model is offered for download. Downloading another member's content confers no rights over it, and PixAI gives no non-infringement warranty on user content.
Reuse rights
The privacy policy in force on 4 March 2026 lists email addresses, usernames and passwords among the data collected; the Japanese version adds published content, support requests, usage history, device and access environment, and purchase history. PixAI states that it does not process sensitive information. Signing in with Google shares a username, encrypted credentials, the Google email address and, optionally, an avatar. The stated purposes are to provide, improve and develop the platform, operate the account, attribute an image or a comment to its author, answer requests and keep the environment secure. PixAI states that it does not sell personal data to external parties, but it does work with named advertising and analytics partners: Google Ads (enhanced conversions, one-way hashed email), Google Analytics and AppLovin, whose mobile SDK collects device identifiers together with usage and ad-interaction data. Data may also be shared with a social network if you connect that account, and disclosed to courts and authorities for legal obligations, proceedings or investigations. On training the policy is explicit: PixAI does not use user-uploaded images to train or improve its foundational AI models without explicit user consent, and uploaded content is used solely to deliver the generation you requested. No opt-out switch is documented, since the logic is prior consent rather than withdrawal. As for the results, the terms say all created content may be freely used by you, without asking permission.

Hosting summary
No hosting location is declared. The privacy policy, the terms and the legal notice name no country, no region and no data centre, there is no trust or security page, and no certification such as SOC 2 or ISO is published. The domain resolves to 52.222.177.73, an AWS node in London, but that is a CDN point of presence: it says nothing about where accounts, images or trained models are actually stored. On the processing side, the privacy policy names Google for single sign-on, Google Ads and Google Analytics, and AppLovin for mobile advertising, but PixAI publishes no formal subprocessor list. Security is described in general terms only: technical, administrative and physical safeguards with regular vulnerability monitoring, and the usual caveat that no internet transmission can be guaranteed. In practice, anyone with a data residency requirement will have to ask PixAI directly at inquiries@pixai.art, because the public documentation answers none of it.
Things to keep in mind
Risks and trade-offs to weigh before adopting PixAI.
- No GDPR framework at all: no compliance claim, no data processing agreement, no Article 27 EU representative, and Hong Kong governing law, which leaves a European user with little formal recourse.
- Undocumented retention and undeclared hosting: nothing says how long your data is kept or in which country it sits, so plan accordingly before uploading anything sensitive.
- The legal entity shown changes with the visitor's IP country, from Mewtant Inc. by default to Troph Limited in Hong Kong and a redirect to metanomaly.co.jp in Japan, so check who you are actually contracting with.
- Money only flows one way: purchases are final and non-refundable, and closing an account guarantees neither data recovery nor a refund.
- Uploading a model file grants PixAI a perpetual and irrevocable licence to host, use, reformat, store and display it, so think twice before publishing work you might want to withdraw.
- Prices are invisible on the pricing page without JavaScript, and the legal pages behave the same way; confirm the amount before you subscribe.
- Community output comes with no non-infringement warranty, and the mobile apps carry AppLovin advertising that collects device identifiers, so a public gallery habit has a privacy cost as well as a creative one.
Setup & Integrations
Technical difficulty
Getting started is easy. Nothing to install: a browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) or the mobile app on iOS 15.0+ (iPhone X or later) or Android 6.0+ with 2 GB of RAM. Signing up takes an email address or a Google account, no credit card. Documentation sums it up as Start in 3 Steps: create an account, choose a model, generate; LoRA training is presented as needing no complex tools and no manual configuration. The real curve is prompting and stacking LoRAs. PixAI Studio's node canvas assumes node-workflow literacy, and the REST API, with keys and webhooks, needs developer skills.

Should you pick PixAI?
PixAI's strength is easy to state: the depth of its anime catalogue and a genuinely free entry point. More than a million community models and LoRAs, in-house models led by Tsubaki.2, built-in LoRA training, an editing suite, video of up to ten seconds and a node-based Studio pipeline, all in one product with paid tiers starting at 7.99 USD per month, is a rare combination. The free plan is not a countdown: 10,000 daily credits, indefinitely, is enough to decide whether the tool suits you before spending anything.
The weakness is just as clear, and it concerns transparency rather than craft. Nothing on the site mentions the GDPR, and there is no data protection officer, no Article 27 representative and no data processing agreement. No hosting country is declared, no retention period is published, purchases are final and non-refundable, and the terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. Uploaded model files carry a perpetual and irrevocable licence. None of that disqualifies the tool for an individual creator; it is a serious obstacle for any organisation with a procurement or data protection checklist.
The natural audience follows: anime creators, illustrators building consistent original characters, game developers who need sprite sheets and game art, and short-form makers storyboarding a drama or a commercial. Developers get a REST API with webhooks, and mobile users get apps synced to the web account.
Two reservations before signing up. You must be 18 or older, and moderation is strict on sensitive content, with an appeal window of seven working days. And check the prices yourself: they do not appear on the pricing page without JavaScript, and the figures quoted here come from PixAI's own blog. The free plan is the sensible starting point.
