What is Playground AI?
Playground AI is an AI design studio that runs in the browser and on iPhone, published by AI Playground, Inc. of Dover, Delaware. Its premise is that you should not have to know a design tool to get a design: you describe what you want in ordinary words and the system settles the colour, style and layout for you.
Work usually starts from a template rather than a blank canvas. The library runs to thousands of models across 24 categories, among them t-shirts, stickers, logos, posters, mockups, mobile wallpapers, social posts, cards and invites, seamless patterns, memes, monograms, e-book covers, banners, event signs, colouring pages, cake toppers, phone cases, flyers, mugs, hats, Spotify covers and ads. All are meant to be customised rather than copied.
Behind the editor sits a bench of models: GPT Image 2 from OpenAI for typography and dense layouts, Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro from Google Gemini for fast iteration and 4K photorealism, and Seedream, alongside Playground v3, the in-house model announced in October 2024 for graphic design work. Six image utilities, background removal, upscaling, AI resize, a logo generator, a mockup generator and a PNG, JPG, WebP and AVIF converter, run without an account at all.
Editing is non-destructive. Smart Layers makes every image out of editable pieces, Extract Text turns flattened type back into layers, and a library of roughly 1,800 fonts arrived in March 2026. Exports come out as transparent PNG, JPG, or layered SVG in which each colour keeps its own layer, which is why crafters use it to feed Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio and Brother ScanNCut.
The company claims more than 13 million creators across 120 countries and a 4.9 out of 5 rating on over 5,400 App Store reviews. Commercial use is worldwide and royalty-free on every plan. One thing the site is explicit about: there is no direct integration with Etsy, Printify, Printful, Shopify or TikTok Shop, so you export and upload yourself. The product changed hands in late 2025, when an unnamed team announced it had completed an acquisition.

GDPR overview
The privacy policy carries a dedicated section for EEA, UK, Swiss and California users, and the publisher states it applies those rights to every user regardless of location. It names its lawful bases, namely performance of the contract, legitimate interests in security, reliability and abuse prevention, and revocable consent. It lists the GDPR rights honoured: access, correction, erasure, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent and complaint to a supervisory authority. Who owns the data?
The terms assign ownership of the output to the user: you own all Assets you create, and Playground AI expressly transfers its rights in them to you for personal or commercial use, with a worldwide royalty-free licence attached to every plan, the free one included. In exchange, you grant the publisher a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicensable, irrevocable and royalty-free licence over your prompts, uploaded images and generated Assets, so it can provide, maintain, promote and improve the service; that licence survives termination of the agreement. Other users also receive a licence to reuse whatever you publish publicly, and assets are public and remixable by default. You warrant that you hold the rights to everything you upload.
Reuse rights
Yes, the outputs are yours to reuse without asking permission. The terms assign you all rights, title and interest in the Assets you create, and the pricing page attaches a worldwide, royalty-free commercial licence to every tier, the free one included. You can sell finished products and digital downloads on Etsy, Shopify, TikTok Shop, Amazon or Redbubble, use the files in advertising, packaging, merchandise and print, and the site states there are no licensing restrictions on generated outputs. The limits are behavioural rather than commercial: prompts must not replicate a named artist's style, copyrighted characters or brand logos, the user carries sole liability for infringement, and each marketplace's own policies still apply.

Hosting summary
Playground AI does not name a single country or region where user data is stored. The privacy policy addresses the question only in general terms: as part of normal operations, information may be held on computers in countries other than your own, and by supplying it you consent to that transfer. The company adds that wherever the data resides, it will comply with applicable law and honour the commitments in the policy. Security is described the same way, as physical, business and technical measures with notification to users in the event of a breach, without naming a provider, a data centre or an audit. No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or equivalent certification is claimed anywhere on the site, and no data processing agreement or subprocessor list is published. For reference only, a network lookup on 17 August 2026 resolved the domain to 34.149.6.158, an anycast Google LLC node in the United States; that describes how the website is served, not where customer files are stored, and it is not a hosting commitment.
